What's the battery life when playing games? - Google Pixel Questions & Answers

Can anyone give me an estimate on how many hours you get when playing 3D games on XL and non-XL?

I use to play like 1 or 2 hours of Toss the Turtle on pixel 5" and I get like 5 hours SOT in a day. I'm really amazed with the battery life. All stock for now

Pull down the notification shade, tap on your battery icon and you'll see a "Battery saver" toggle you can turn on and off as you please when you know you need a bit more longevity. If you prefer, you can also have it come on automatically at 15 or 5% battery, which is what most people will be more comfortable with. Battery saver automatically turns off when you start charging your Pixel.

I don't own a pixel yet. I just wanted to know how many hours you'd expect from constantly playing games... before buying

Again with the Battery

Is anyone that is having battery issues running Adao Task Manager and Battery Status Pro?
I just factory reset my phone and I got 24hours of batter life. About 8 standby but a good deal of texting, web, some calls and some you tube.
I installed Task Manager and Batter Status Pro last night and my battery this morning went down 15% in about 1hr.
I uninstalled these today and will post again but has anyone else seen big battery drain from these apps or does anyone that is having issues running something similar?
I have been playing with the battery for about a week now.
For me this phone runs pretty good during stand-by. I would have about 2-3% drop for a whole night (7 to 8 hrs), with Google (push), Twitter and weather syncing.
The problem is when you use it, it drops like crazy. When I read news or surf the web, it would drop 1% every 1 or 2 min.
This morning I read an ebook, with black background for about 30 min, it dropped about 3%.
So basically i think the screen, data connection, and non-black background are the ones that kill the battery.
Yea, I agree, the S-AMOLED screen in this thing is an energy hog. OLED's are supposed to be more energy efficient than typical LCD's but I'm just not seeing it. Whenever I look at battery usage stats it shows the display at 70-75% of battery usage. Thats ridiculous. I have until the 18th, but I'm quickly leaning towards returning this and just getting an iphone4. This phone is becoming more and more disappointing the longer I have it.
This morning I have been uplugged 4.75hrs and used 16% no battery monitor and no app killer. Basically done the same things I did yesterday. Some Bebbled, texting, email, phone calls .
I will update tomorrow with total hours battery life for today. Would be happy if I can replicate the 24hours I got the day before installing those apps.
I got like 45 hours of battery with moderate usage during the two days. Seems fine to me, I occasionally used system panel to monitor if anything was using high and constant CPU
This is pretty typical of a 1ghz phone My nexus would last a day of heavy usage, 2 days if i use it lightly. We need to wait for undervolted kernels to be developed xD
Also, it really helps if you disable 3G when you don't use it. This allows me to get 3-4 days of light usage out of my nexus. I haven't played with the Captivate long enough to know how much of a difference this makes on this phone though
when you guys refer to "stand by", what exactly do you mean? Just screen off/phone idle? The battery usage on my phone when I use it seems to be OK even if not amazing, but it continues to sap life from the battery when I'm using it at an alarming rate.
Standby is when the phone is idle/screen off/locked.
The display is definitely power hungry. Using the Power Control widget that comes installed definitely has helped with battery life. It will let you toggle WiFi, BT, GPS, Data Sync, and Brightness (at 3 levels). When I'm not using anyone of those, I turn it off. When I'm indoors, I'll set the brightness to the lowest level. I'm usually at my desk when I'm streaming music, so I'll have it plugged in.

Actually they are more energy efficient on black screens, But screens with a lot of white in them suck battery bad.

This is true the white screens burn the battery etc. I just wanted to let everyone know what I did to make my battery last more that 24hrs.
First, read the Wiki guide and apply some of the battery saving tips.
Second, UNINSTALL a program called "gReader" created by noinnion. This program is a huge battery hog! At least it was for me.
Hope this helps.
Well I guess I am one of the "lucky ones" Im running a live wallpaper and have not run my battery down since the 1st day. Right now Im at 40% life and at 15 Hrs 30m since unplugged. This is with checking facebook, twitter, email, phone calls, internet browsing\video watching and following the steps for the GPS fix. The only thing I have done is install ATK on the phone, besides that its all stock.
One thing I know is a huge battery drain is Time without Service. Check that stat and see if you have anytime at all without service, if so, I am pointing to that as a major drain on the battery. I know currently I have 0% Time without signal, my fiancee however is usually in the 20+% range and her battery drains like many reports I have seen here (she has an EVO).....
Yesterday I only managed 16 hours. Web, Email, A bluetooth file transfer, short bit of gaming. I have about 5% of the cell standby time (26%) without signal. My girlfriend has the Aria which is running Android 2.1 also, has all sorts of widgets, haptic feedback on and can make it at least 24 hours. I get that it has a smaller screen but it is also an LCD. Shouldn't the Super Amoled be saving our battery some display consumption.
i get about 14 hours or so moderate usage and at the end of the day, i have about 35% left at night.
If you detail the "Display" usage in the battery usage details how many minutes has your screen been on? Mine says 1hour 2mins ...this is for 8 hours of running time. My display is using 50% of the battery (which is at 68% now).
W00t W00t today I have reached a new high 2 Days 6 hours and 29 minuts with 12% battery left.....
What I have found is keeping Wifi on while I am at work and home like almost doubled my battery life. Which is great that I can use Wifi all day and not drain the battery so fast like my Fuze. Right now been off charger since 7:30am and I have 84% left. Yesterday after 9 hours I was still over 50%. For me its better than any other smartphone I have owened.
I used manual brightness, (swipe notification bar), turn off GPS/BT. black wallpaper and set Wifi to never sleep. Also the power saving mode in settings is off for other reason and doesn't affect battery.
At 18% right now and it's been off the charger for about 30 hours. I noticed yesterday that while I was connected to wifi at home (with Y5 app), it was draining faster than when I was connected to 3g. Did some tested back and forth and JuicePlotter clearly had a noticeably steeper downward slope for when wifi was connected than when it was using 3g. Weird :\

[Q] A couple of noob questions

I'm new to this phone, and still learning my way around a bit. A couple of items that I'm wondering about...
1) When my battery starts getting low, and it goes into power saver mode, there is a button I can hit that says "Battery Info." It seems to almost be like the battery history in Spare Parts, which is nice, since Spare Parts doesn't work. However, I'm not absolutely certain how to interpret this data. Is it telling me what percent of my battery drain has been due to certain apps? Or is it telling me what percent of the time they have been running? Also, how can I get to this information when I'm not in power saver mode?
2) On a related note, what is considered to be typical battery life for this phone? I know that's a completely loaded question and differs by use. But maybe like a min/max range? And what things can I tweak to maximize battery life?
Many thanks.

1) to get into the battery stats go into Menu*Settings*About Phone*Battery*Battery Use* and its my understanding that the percentage shown for each app/task shows how much of a percentage of the battery that has been used was used by said task so right now my display shows 58% and im at 36% battery so 58% of the used battery was due to my display, then if i click on display it shows a time for how long an app/task has been active, so in my case phone has been on for 9 hours and display has been used for 4 hours i hope that helps
2)Battery life on the Shift is pretty solid im still at 35% and my phone hasnt charged since yesterday at about 6pm and i used it till maybe 2 am went to bed no charge woke up used the phone for about 30 minutes and have been on tapatalk and gtalk, facebook...the longest standyby i have had with my shift is 48 hours of very light usage but i normally get about 8-10 hours of extreme usage, so if your not a power user you should see some amazing battery life

Awesome. Thanks. That battery history thing blows Spare Parts out of the water.

I'm getting desperate with the whole battery situation

So I had the S6 last year and ended up returning it due to the poor battery performance. I ended up back on an iPhone. When the news of a larger battery and better chip performance come out for the S7 I was ready to jump back on the ANdroid bandwagon.
So fast forward. I just unplugged my phone at 100%. It's been a half hour and I'm already at 95%. I have to consistently keep the power save mode on to conserve battery. It's getting somewhat annoying because it screws up updates and notifications as well as some app don't work well.
I've tried conserving battery by shutting off certain features, keeping display brightness down etc while having power save mode off. It just seems that Android System is chewing through the battery. I don't know what the hell is doing it either.
I don't want to cripple the phone by keeping it on power save mode all the time. Does anyone have any recommendations that will help me or I might have to return this phone and ALL the free stuff I got with it.
Thanks
Half hour of use at 95%? Cus that's not bad at all. I'm consistently getting 5-7 hours of SoT.
I think OP meant half hour of standby because im experiencing the same type of battery drain. But even with this drain im getting about 10-12 hrs of moderate use with 4.5 hrs SoT
Turn AOD off. Let the battery run down... Turn off fast charge. Fully charged the phone. Don't disable anything else. Go through a couple cycles like this. You'll see a difference. Then use package Disabler pro and disable what you don't use. You'll be happy...
So for the hell of it I turned off location in the drop down menu so see how it affects battery life. I have been off the charger for about 2.5 hours now. I have used the phone here and there throughout that time. When it came off the charger it was at 98% and it's at 91% now.
That's 7 percent with use in 2.5 hours whereas before it lost 5% in a half hour on standby with no use.
What the hell is pinging location over and over? If you hold down the location drop down menu option the phone displays the apps that use location. All of them say low battery use.
Is there a way to set these up to only use location when the app is being used?

Is fast charge bad for the battery or something? I've gone through about 3 cycles with fast charge on and battery still isn't great. Hoping it will improve after about 3-4 more cycles
All I know is that it made a huge difference for me. I think that it's more of a battery calibration thing. It really doesn't take that much longer to charge the phone with fast charge off...

battery

Who else just straight up turned on power saver when they got the phone? I tend to use my phone for streaming anime from VRV and Netflix and watching YouTube videos...so I instinctively turned on the feature....and wow does the phones battery last with it turned on lol
What percentage drain per hour idle are you getting? I'm at around 1-3%, but I could have sworn I was getting way better when I first got it.

Well last night I forgot to put my phone to charge and it was at 85% and I woke up to 53% I fell asleep at 12 AM and Woke up at 7AM
If you get EX Kernel Manager you can enable a notification that will show percentage drain per hour when both active and idle! Sounds like 4-5% drain an hour though, not especially good. I'm sure you could get it down even farther! Check out ForceDoze.
The battery in the u11 is very good and a good addition to it is the htc app "boost+" from the playstore as it controls apps in both foreground and background, also it can change resolution of apps and games to save more power.

Battery Life/Screen on time

First day with Mi Note 10,
Can you share your battery experience with Mi Note 10, I don't know why it seems my battery is draining too fast, I charged it to 100% around 11pm and woke up 5am, sleeping for 6hrs, everything is off, then when I checked the phone the battery percentage dropped to 96%.
I used it for the entire day, left with 19%, with SOT of 5.24hrs, I only use camera and Spotify for most of it.
See screenshots
your screenshot is not showed up,
but anyway, from 100%, normally i will ends up with 9h screen time.
as per right now, my screen time is 5h48m and 42% battery,
top usage is my game, followed by chrome, instagram and youtube
It's normal for newer Xiaomi phones, my older Note 6 Pro would lose 2% with dual sims enabled. My Note 10 loses around the same as yours with no sims even on it. When looking at battery mon there are a lot of "wake up" calls. My Mi 9 did the same thing, poor standby life. Very disappointed with Xiaomi and the Note 10. No notification LED, no phone call recorder are my biggest issues. Also phone tends to hang every now and then, requiring a hard reboot, fwiw I don't play or have any games installed.
When it comes to battey life people often get confused and quote SCREEN ON TIME. You are asking about standby time and SOT, the standby sucks, SOT not too bad.
