slow mms sending on stock sense roms - HTC One A9

I've noticed slow mms sending on all the stock sense roms I've used 6.0, 6.0.1 and 7.0
My upload and download speeds test fine. But when I'm on a stock sense roms MMS take nearly 3 times as long to send. On CM or Lineage they send almost instantly.
Has anyone else noticed this or found a solution to it?

Havent experienced this at all...On ATT as well

Okay thanks. I can live with it. I thought maybe it was my uploads or messaging app but the speed test is okay and I use Signal and it sends images way lower resolution than I like (100kb or so). If tested it with Textra, Google messenger and Signal and it's no faster or slower even on Textra where I can adjust the sending size. I tested it on 1mb and 300kb. Strange.

Try changing the apn, I was on nextgenphone apn and was experiencing slow web pages, but then manually added the att pta apn and it all worked better, and my data even worked a bit faster!

Wow. Night and day difference in MMS sending time. Data speeds are roughly the same but they were really good anyway. Thanks man. That's been an annoyance of mine sense I had the phone.

I gotta say I always disable my APN so I dont get my DATA charges to high, I always change the APN TYPE as soon as I flash a ROM, its the first thing I do, so this might be handy. But we all know it will end up buggin the crap outta of us having a setting not working
Ive came to realize I only like hero for the widgets that come along with it
Thanks man. Yea, this APN thing is a tough one, this ROM is awesome and smooth but the APN needs to be set in the ROM before flashing and unfortunately thats where my know how goes by by. Dang, hope someone figures this out.
EDIT: Ok, so I put in the settings and turned on 2g networks only and then turned 2g back off again and now I have data. So that worked for me!
Try that and see if it works for you.
Data is flying for me, syncing and location all work!
AHHhhhh good idea..........
Where do you go inside the zip to edit the apn files? I think I know but I want a for sure answer

Already got it working, no need to mess with the zip file. Putting it into 2g then back again forces it to find the correct network to go with the settings. It will work then.

Might not be your issue buy for me the speedtest app never seems to accurately reflect my actual speeds, particularly on the dl side. Even when connected to WiFi using cable or dsl, speedtest will show slow speeds whereas opening the browser and testing with the speakeasy speedtest I get exactly what I should be. I have tried changing the server but that doesn't seem to help in my case.
It is not limited to just my inspire either as the same issue shows up on my thunderbolt and sensation.
tl;dr speedtest app sucks

MMS with WiFi off?

I've been on stock as well as venom rom and insertcoin, but none of them seem to be able to send or receive MMS without mobile data being on. Any ideas?

I believe this is a Verizon thing.
4G *should* kick on automatically when recieving an MMS message.
If you watch closely when one is coming in and you have wifi on you can see the 4g icon appear as the MMS finally comes threw.
I am not sure why they choose do to this to us, but I don't believe there is a way to make it work over wifi (that I am aware of anyway)

Ah okay. I'm wondering if there would be a way to momentarily switch data on to send or receive MMS. Keeping mobile data on all the time seems like a waste

For me personally, on my ROM, the 4g will kick on automatically if you are sending/receiving an MMS message so you don't have to keep mobile data on
That's so strange.
Does it do this on AOSP ROMs too, and other VZW phones?

Awesome, I might give bonestock a try then. Is that something you had to implement in your rom, or should that be an included feature on stock?

APNs fully editable through QuickShortcutMaker App

Stumbled upon this earlier today... download the QuickShortcutMaker app from the playstore.
Open it up and do a search for TEST. The last option to come up should be com.test.LTEFunctionality. Expand that, and click on the LTE test underneath of it. Then click TRY in the app. Scroll down to LTE APN Setting. The APNs are fully editable, and survive multiple reboots. I was able to add DUN, as well as proxy settings from adblock. wooo whoo! Apologies if this has been metioned elsewhere, but I haven't seen it.
Which line did you edit to turn on hotspot? Thanks!
Finally thank you!

Would also like to know. Also when I search "TEST" the last option isn't what you posted. Mine is Google Play Games (com.google.android.gms etc etc... )
This works perfectly for me. I searched for LTE and found the right one. Thanks!
Got to this part, what do I edit so that Sprint doesn't know if I'm using phone data or hotspot data? I'm on a 10 gig hotspot plan and need just a little bit more.

Thank you. I made the changes. I hope it works. We had a power failure last week and I ran 2 devices from my phone's LTE. I used 2.65 GB of the 10 allotted.

On the Note5 try searching for "ROAM" or "APN", I vaguely remember seeing some roaming/APN options on a Sprint version.

10Gigs/month? I go through that in 2 days, sometimes pushing over a 100gigs a month on LTE prepaid for only 50 bucks a month.
In 2017 you can do better than that, not having to dread the friggin' data limits
Just check around, there are plenty of nationwide prepaid offerings, and with a little tweaking you can do it too.
You're the best!
Has anybody confirmed this still works after the recent QGL update?

Question Change what RCS server messages connects to?

Hi everyone,
As some of you have probably seen if you live here in the USA carriers have moved to use their own RCS servers instead of jibe. The issue is they do not communicate with each other so now I basically send SMS to everyone instead of chat. Does anyone know how to force the messages app to connect to the jibe servers? I have tried uninstalling updates for messages and installing a vanilla version. You get the unskinned messages app which is nice but still tries to connect to att.
Unfortunately there is no way except to install the U1 firmware. I did it. It works wonders.

Sorry I have been out of this for awhile. Would I just flash the international snapdragon firmware through Odin? Will it trip Knox? No need to do anything else? Still work fine with ATT?

Won't trip Knox. A few things are different. Video Calling is Duo only and visual voicemail is only through the app, no direct link in the phone app. Wifi Calling and everything else works fine. Phone seems quicker and battery lasts longer in my testing.

Thanks for all the help! I use duo only anyway. My battery last all day with room time to spare so if it's even better thats a plus. All this just to not use ATT terrible RCS servers. SMH.
Yep, seems to be the only fix as of now. Maybe AT&T will get their heads out their asses and fix it eventually.

From my understanding yes I haven't seen an update yet, but should be soon.
Hey everyone, I installed the U1 firmware and got the Jibe mobile confirmed and rcs back up with Google Messages from APKmirror but now the color of RCS messages is a weird shade of blue instead of the dark blue I had on my previous phone. is this something i'm doing wrong somehow? Samsung messages drove me crazy with their color scheme and I needed messages back to normal but now the off color is a little upsetting.
I can't find anything on it. Thanks

I figured it out, I ended up uninstalling app and clearing cache and data and reinstalling the apk.
Wait, does the U1 firmware also fix the SIM Card Manager utility to properly select which SIM is used for data, calls, and texts?
It sounds like this is what I need to install.
EDIT: Nope.
