Singapore S7 Edge Nougat Update - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Guides, News, & Discussion

UPDATE: Thanks to @deathst for the link to his downloads of Nougat for the Malaysian N ROMs. If you want to update your Singapore MM phone to Nougat, following the link and instructions there. Remember to use the HOME_CSC to retain your data and Singapore CSC.

So, I bought an international S7 Edge in Singapore last year. Got to say that their updates are incredibly slow.....only recently got the November Security update.
Had an on-line chat with them just now, about when to expect the Nougat update.......April to June!!! Though he did helpfully add "this year".
It really makes me sad that Samsung promise to update phones, then we have to wait maybe half a year to actually get the update.

If I have the Samsung VR (also bought in Singapure), will it still work with the UK firmware?

If you are worried about that. Download the xme version of nougat. The firmware is multicsc region for sea and singapore xsp csc are in it. Flash that.

So if I flash the Malaysian firmware with Odin, it should retain my XSP? Which would mean I don't lose data?

yup. use the one from the firmware that you download.

Many thanks. I flashed, with Odin and after setting the secure pin, the Malaysian Nougat firmware, with the Home CSC from that firmware. Everything went smoothly, my Singapore CSC stayed intact, as did all my data.

where did you download the xmw version?
Thank you

I got it from Updato.com: http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?r=&v=Nougat(Android+7.0)&q=sm-g935fd&exact=1

the S7 is a great phone but it is my last Samsung product. 2 reasons, the slow updates and the new finger print sensor.
HTC 11, here I come !

And still it will be 7.0, not 7.1

Deleted...

Just a curious question, if I flash the XME version, I will need to flash the AP, BL, CP, and HOME_CSC right?
After flashing, will I still be able to use Samsung Pay in Singapore? If I wish to change back to Singapore version can it be done by flashing with Singapore firmware (7.0 to 6.0.1)?
Thanks for the clarification.

Well that really is the nail in the coffin for me and Samsung, they can _____ others for hundreds while extracting the urine, I wont be party to it again

Im using android pay atm so need a dm-verity pass
So im running
Device: Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910C
Build: Android 6.0.1
PDA: N910CXXU2DPG8
CSC: BTU
CHANGELIST: 8842622
BUILD DATE: 28.07.2016
Android security patch level: 01.08.2016
Then using Package Disabler Pro to kill below
its not ideal as i cant remove sfinder and such from the pulldown
& add hosts file etc but its the best of a bad situation
and ofc the dalvic-cache gets generated for all that bloat in the system rom
so it uses around 2gb more of the data partition in comparison to my images
If anyone wants N910CXXU2DPG8 with the BTU Multi CSC Cache Partition here's a link
If your are coming from any other CSC it will default to XEO (Poland Unbranded)
If you are coming from any of my images it will default to BTU (UK Unbranded)
I have included my disabledpackages.xml that you can import with Package Disabler Pro
to disable all the bloat
I believe XEO (Poland CSC) Comes with 1 polish bloat app
so i advise you are on one of my BTU Images before updating to ensure you get a BTU (UK) CSC
This shouldnt trip the knox bootloader marker but its untested as im already tripped

how is it BTU?
did you change csc in fw?
I have Uruguay rom which is same.
i added the cache package from the xeo rom which is also btu
so if you come from my older btu roms it will default to btu or xeo if coming from any other csc
ROM is very, very good but I have one problem.
First I installed XEO. Was a bug.
Then changed XEO to BTU. Now there is no LTE
Any advice?
i have lte on btu

[Solved] Samsung "secret" codes not working after nougat

Hi. Am I the only one who was unpleasantly surprised that the secret codes doesn't work after nougat update? I just flashed via Odin the ROM BTU downloaded from Samfirmware website and used HOME_CSC. Is something that I can do? Or someone else encountered this problem?
LE: Solved
Solution:
I downloaded the Netherlands 7.0 PHN CSC from here with Odin3_v3.12.5 https://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-odin-t3369431
Flashed the PHN, tested the codes, they worked, then i flashed BTU from Samfirmware and all is working now.

Can someone, Please, help providing me with BGL CSC (it is for Bulgaria - not branded). I have downloaded the latest G930F BGL firmware from SamMobile which is multi-CSC but when I install it, it installs XEO CSC (Poland). If you could help me with advise I would appreciate it.
@rifek4, can I change the CSC with Phone Info app without rooting? I don't want to root.
@rifek4, thank for all your help. I will skip the part with the rooting because I do not want to trigger the knox and I want to use Samsung Pass/Pay, Google Pay etc. I thought that there might be a single BGL CSC file to flash or a button combination like *#272*imei# (which is not working).

Oreo 8 - battery drain fixed and VOL LTE working, cocktailed firmware OFFICIAL

Hi All,
This is my first post,
After some reading and testing I have managed to install Oreo 8.0 on my S7 Edge Exynos and maintain battery performance to that of Nougat7.
I have cocktailed Oreo 8 and Nougat 7 firmware together, and maintained an official status on phone all working perfect.
If anyone wants to test this firmware mix,
heres what i used when flashing via Odin.
Oreo 8 AP & BL firmware files BTU region RE8.
Nougat 7 CP DRA9 and CSC home file RB5
I did factory wipe and reset device and restore my apps settings afterwards, all functions are working correctly.
Oreo8 software os, Nougat 7 Modem and CSC for my provider so Vol LTE works!

All the best!
Any known downsides?
None its all official firmware,
All working perfect so far, Wifi works bluetooth calls etc..
Let me know if theres anything you want me to test.
I have not rooted and not affectted knox so samsung pay etc works fine.
After experiencing Oreo with a battery drain i was tempted to flash Nougat 7 again, then I decided to cocktail the firmware instead as its so much better on 8 than 7..
I used samsungs app to backup my apps / settings apposed to google and the restore works flawlessly.
I guess when testing different firmwares it saves so much time after a factory reset.
I will test further tommorrow and see how it behaves, but so far so good!
Update for any readers / users..
14hrs with light to moderate use and i have 48% battery left.
Vast improvement compared to Oreo 8 modem which was almost 10% with same use.
18% was cell standby.
Video enchancer is switched on and screen resolution FHD.
Im seeking 8.1 official if anyome knows of it on S7edge!
Hello, you can post the samsung chart related to the use of the batteries.
to better understand what happens
Thank you
Can you post instructions on how to update only the modem if we have Oreo OTA update installed? This would be of great help.

You just have to know/find how to install software through the Odin and install just the CP and HOME_CSC (or CSC if you want to factory format) WITHOUT AP and BL.
Will this fix the cell standby drain?

I dont know how to attach a picture using the options on web browser.. or do you use xda app to achieve this?
Cell standby drain is normally vol LTE related as far as i have read before. Go into settings and switch it off?

It really works. I just used the CP and home CSC from Argentina Android 7 latest firmware over the existing Oreo 8.0 from UK. Worked like a charm and now the battery life has increased specially during idle time.
Maybe a stupid, question. If I put together this firmware I'd download oreo btu and take out oreo csc and cp and put in for instance csc home and cp from the Dutch phn nougat conect the phone with odin and flash the firmware and this will work.

SamFW.com is great for firmware, but they're not gonna have an AT&T USERDATA file. I'm not sure if everything will work properly without it. I have a source that can get me Samsung firmware for any USA device, but I have to pay him for each one

Flashed and was able to enable WiFi-calling with US Mobile that I previously didn't have the option with July update. This is OneUI 4.1.1 btw, and the bottom of the screen is reserved for taskbar which is NOT enabled for Flip 4 so you get a black bar at the bottom in apps, just so you know.
This morning my flip4 finally received the September security patch along with firmware F721U1UEU1AVIA through OTA. My flip4 is an unlocked US phone, I'm on West coast. I haven't noticed any changes yet.

Question Galaxy S21+ does not auto-update

Guys
I am using SM-G996UZSAVZW here in Pakistan. This is a Verizon USA S21+ that is imported to Pakistan. My problem is, I have to manually update through ODIN every time there is an update. The software update option does not work within the about section of the phone. I am guessing It has something to do with not being bound to Verizon anymore. I have ended up updating every 3rd or 4th month to save myself the hassle of updating all the time.
Can someone tell me if there is a workaround so the OTA works from the phone itself? Maybe I can install ROM from another region that lets me auto-update? Any ideas would be appreciated.

The reason it's not working is because the CSC was modified. The XAA sales code goes with U1 firmware, not U. So basically, your phone doesn't think that you have valid firmware installed, since XAA is not one of the valid sales codes that goes with U firmware.
If you flash U1 firmware, that will likely solve the problem

Thanks a lot. Can you go a step further and suggest which U1 firmware should I install? On samfw I am just not sure about which U1.

Hello,
I have a quite similar situation with OP. My phone was importrd from the US to the Philippines and I don't get automatic OTA updates as well. I just update via Odin every 3 - 4 months and I always choose the G996U VZW firmwares.
I'm wondering if I can also flash a U1 firmware to activate OTA updates and what CSC should I choose? because I can't seem to see GCF as part of the firmware list for G996U1

Hello,
I flashed from G996U to G996U1 XAA version. Not sure if I did it right because, yes I see G996U1 on my software version but I don't see XAA btw this is the October update for XAA, and not sure If i should be receiving the Android 13 OTA update already.
Can you check sir if I did it right? Or is there anything that I should do differently?

You don't need to do anything differently. Android 13 has not yet been released for this model, and probably will not for at least 1 more month
Hello, I also face the same problem however mine is SM-G996B could you please advise whether the G996U1UES5CVI8 with CSC of XAS will be okay for me to use?
Thanks in advance for your reply.
