Some minutes after manually starting a workout the Gear S3 acoustically announces the "heart rate", the "calories burned", etc.
Where do I disable these announcements to make my watch remain quiet even during workout?
many thanks, Felix

I can't seem to find this exact settings, I keep turning more off and it continues to announce. Is that on the watch?

It is on the watch, as state in post #2.
Is there any way of making it louder? I want to hear the information but it comes out really quietly compared to my music and I can't catch what she's saying.

that voice is really loud i hate it lol. try changing your watch volume. easiest way i know to do thar is if you have the music wiget on which source to gear mode instead of phone to control media and change the volume to the desire level
There is no --- SHealth -> Workout -> Guide at intervals -> None --- on the watch. There used to be. But the isn'tany more. Does anyone know of another way to disable this voice.
No More Annoying 5 minute voice interruptions to my workout
On my gear fit pro 2,my Activity Type that I use at the gym is Other Workout. But every 5 minutes of my workout, my Bluetooth music is interrupted by that annoying voice.
To Fix it....
Go to Workout>activity type>other workout>guide intervals>none

You now need to go to the actual exercise. So say click on "other workout" if that's where you're getting your notifications from, and then scroll down to "guide frequency" prior to actually starting the workout. Click "none".
I just got the Samsung Watch today and tested the workout widget. I was annoyed by the voice too and just figured out that you have to turn off "rep counter" for each workout. So, it turns off the voice completely.
Glad I found this post, here is my situation with s health.
I use the watch alone to run, at first was great with the s health voice, every km a message saying my speed and HR and just half my goal a remind of it.
I use it Spotify premium to download my playlist and run without the phone and with the s healt voice the music stops/pause and after the message of s health the music used to resume, BUT last week just after reach half (and the respective message) of my goal the music doesnt resume, it is weird because seems that everything is connected and working, but no sound at all, not even from the internal speaker, the only solution is to restart the phone and is annoying because I have to stop to do it. Does anybody face the same issue? any solution?

That worked for me! Thanks very much!
About "guide frequency" and other Gear S3 issues...
I have been dealing with these "audio guides" since I got my Gear S3. I wanted to disable them so the music I listen while workout is not interrupted. The above procedure is correct: setting guide frequency = none does work, BUT that setting is not remembered (at least in my Gear S3 Frontier), so the next time you go for a workout (and forget to set guides frequency to "none"), there you have again the watch talking and interrupting your music.
However, due to the S3 battery drainage issue (I have it too), as described in this article:
https://www.sammobile.com/2018/10/23/gear-sport-gear-s3-battery-fix
I have tried to install that Gear S plugin version 2.2.03.18101561. It did NOT fix the battery drain issue, but made the "guide frequency" remembered as a setting (good!). But this plugin came with yet another bug: when you go for a run using Location services along with your phone (so the GPS information is taken from the phone), Samsung Health + Gear S Plugin does not work: only can register location from the watch´s built-in GPS.
So I went back to my standard Gear S Plugin Version 2.2.03.18083051, and I have to remember to set guide frequency to none every time.
Samsung needs some software debugging on the Gear S3 !

Good day... by any chance have you found a solution to this problem? I have been using my Galaxy Watch with Spotify since I purchased the watch back in September, but as of the latest update I am experiencing the same issue of my music not resuming after a running audio cue. I either have to turn off notifications to hear my music for my entire run, or I get to listen to music for about four and a half minutes when my 1st km notification occurs.
Thanks

I have the very same issue. Although I find I can manually kick of the music via Spotify again on the watch with some perseverance. Complete pain in the back side when you are jogging though! If you find / have found a solution, please share. Thanks.
On my watch, the audio guide, which I have set to give me info every 1 km, doesn't 'dip' the sound while I'm listening to any music or other audio like it used to. If I have no music going at all, and only my bluetooth headphones on, it works normally. THe other thing is, if I am running without the watch connected to my bluetooth headphones, it works fine through the watch's speaker. THis watch is so full of bugs. I'm seriously thinking of moving on to a Fitbit Ionic or something.
After three hours:
Problem solved!
On you watch
Go to Apps
Go to S Health
You see the heart, then
Scroll down running man figure - it says “record your workout. Click on it.
Click on bubble with “work out”
There is a list now of all work out types
Click on the relevant settings cog
In the list select guide frequency
Click **** off you *****! NONE!!!!!
LOL, good to know! Cheers

I should have posted my app in here a long time ago. But I guess it is never too late to post it and hope for some good feedback on how to improve the app even further.
What does SleepTimer do:
It simply gives you a way of stopping your music after x minutes. Set it, and listen to music (or a video) in the evening without having to worry about the music running at 3am and waking you up from your sleep. SleepTimer lets you even do more like turning off wifi and/or mobile data after it turned off the music so you do not get interrupted by those annoying WhatsApp messages .
Scenarios
1. Turning off music after falling asleep
2. Turning off remote music like iTunes Remote, YouTube over ChromeCast, ... (needs some configuration)
3. Like fall asleep while talking with your love but hate high phone bills? Let SleepTimer stop the phone call (needs some configuration)
For most use cases SleepTimer just works. Open it up, set time, start. Done. And it even looks nice (at least I think so).
Only like 6% of the apps need some additional configuration to make them work.
More details (only for those who want to know/read more)
The app uses many different techniques to turn off the music. Audio controls, audio foreground, and even notifications since the newest version. Sadly there are some really bad music players out there that do not support any way of stopping their music except for opening the app and using the stop button in there. In such cases there is only the way of lowering the volume (which I hate ). I hope those developers get to work and implement a proper Music Player. Luckily most apps work though.
About notifications (new since October 2014)
This I am actually pretty proud about and took me a while to implement. And it gives us two new features.
1. Stop music using the notification
So if they have a pause/stop/close control in the notifcation, one can add a custom action in settings, select the app and click on the button in the notification that stops the music. SleepTimer will then use that button in the notification to stop the music. That allows more ways to stop an app and allows to stop apps like iTunes Remote, YouTube with ChromeCast, ...
2. Wait until the end of a track
If enabled, SleepTimer will not turn off the music immediately but wait until the track ends. This is done using the text content of the notification. As soon as the text in a notification changes SleepTimer knows that the track is changing and it will send a stop request immediately. (As well it ignores numbers like 3:12 which is obviously not track information but time information)
Shake extend
If enabled, you can extend the timer by shaking your phone. So you can set some quiet chime to run one minute before the timer runs out. If you can still hear it then just shake to phone to extend the timer.
Root
One can enable root in advanced settings to have even more options when the timer ends. For example turning off the phone or turning on airplane mode.
I hope you do like the app. If not, let me know why. If you have any recommendations or questions, please just ask. As well any ideas how to improve the app further are welcome.
Cheers,
Patrick

It supports a lot of music and video players. Basically all of them that support the events of Android that good Audio Player apps should support according to Google Many players I tested (Stock, Google Play Music, TuneIn, Spotify, YouTube, ...) worked. And even if they don't work by default, try out adding a custom action in settings in on sleep actions.

Yes it is. But only if you have a rooted phone. If you do, then enable root in the advanced settings and then go into the On Sleep Actions settings where you will find the turn off phone option .
I think it would be great idea to add some notification with countdown(few seconds), before phone shutting down.
This is a really neat app! All the other sleep timers I tried didn't feature root options like airplane mode etc. Thanks a lot!
Just a little request: Could you add a screen off option as well? I mean sure, the device will turn off the display afterwards by itself, but I thought it might be useful.
Continuous sleep mode
Hi
I would like to know if the app can be configured so that if I fall asleep with earphones on and wake up and press the play/stop button on the earphones, theaudio I was listening to continues, but is automatically in sleep countdown mode without having to start Sleep Timer again.
This is the way the sleep mode in Smart Audiobooks works and it is very nice.
Thanks.
This is a life saver for parents
o to Settings - sound and vibration - Seperate App sound (all the way at the bottom)
turn on and pick the app you want(limited to 1 app at a time)
Then choose the location (I chose Music to bluetooth)
This way I can still listen to music and be able to hand my daughter my phone so she can watch youtube
Impressive, didn't think of that as a use case. Although I don't think I'll be handing anyone my phone just yet
For example (?) : can you watch a video/broadcast mute (sport game), and listen TuneIn ( running commentary ) at the same time ?
Actually android is deeply missing basic audio mix table !
Also can you (lucky owners) tell us if :
-AKG earphone are ip68 waterproof ?
-Google Music can be uninstall/disable ?
-is embedded EQ working with any browser/video app ?
Thx for sharing...

I have a specific question/problem related to this:
Currently I have Google Play Music assigned to Bluetooth.
This is cool because in the car, I can play music - but then play a game or something at the same time.
HOWEVER.....
In order for this to actually work, you have to go to the audio connections hub thing in the notification shade.
And switch your audio output to the phone.
THEN with the audio output set to the phone - itll use the override and send the play music to bluetooth.
You seemingly have to do this every time (I even used Tasker and Autotools custom settings, trying to detect which setting gets changed and make it automatic.... but couldn't see a related changed setting in the settings lists).
A bigger problem though, amidst my messing around to try to make this work better....
I selected "turn off connections manager" option.
Now I don't get that stuff in the notification shade at all.
And I cannot find a single setting that lets me access it again!
So now I can never use separate app audio.
Can someone help me!?!?!?
I have found this feature usefull for SatNav.
I have the phone connected to car bluetooth, so ALL audio on previous phones goes to the car - so as im listening to streaming radio etc, the satnav voice from TomTom kicks in and can be quite annoying - especially as I only want the voice for traffic and speed cameras.
With this feature, I can still stream music to the car but have the audio come through the phone speaker - well done Samsung

Give SoundAbout a look. There isn't much it can't manage.
One of my issues with the Google ChromeCast is that when the phone is used as a source, all audio is sent over that ChromeCast connection.
You cannot divert the audio to Bluetooth for bluetooth speakers/headphones.
Does anyone know if this new Samsung feature will allow you to divert ChromeCast audio to Bluetooth?
That would be pretty darn cool if it did.
EDIT: Btw, I don't have the Samsung phone.
I was linked here from a Google Pixel thread. But I'm really interested to know the answer to my question above.

Download Sound Assistant from Samsung in the play store. When you adjust volume hit the icon and then expand the window. To the right of the app volume slider you can switch sound output.
Found the "Audio output" control! Yess!!

Thanks to the post above I was finally able to find the setting to enable the option to select the Audio output on my phone (Samsung S8+) see pictures attached. So if you've lost the option to select the audio output of you S8 follow these steps. (Not to be confused with with Separate app sound, which routes different apps to a bluetooth or phone output)
Find the Samsung Connect app
Click on the three dots to bring down the menu
Tap Settings
Tap Samsung Connect panel
Ensure this is turned on
Tap on Always show
and Finally tap on Audio output << This is the one! :good:
Hello,
I have Spotify installed in my gear s3 and also have my guide at intervals enabled when running. Whenever i reach the half point and at the same time my interval, it will have a voice notification. However, after the voice notification, it kind of mutes the spotify. I noticed that spotify keeps on playing but there's no sound. I tested other sound like ringtones, etc and they are okay. I needed to reset the watch to be able to hear the music from spotify again.
It doesn't have any issues if it's only the interval playing. It only happens when i reach half point and interval at the same time.
Anybody has the same issue?
Thanks.
Even after 1 year the problem has not been solved. I am also facing it till date in INDIA on my Gear S3. Spotify or Samsung doesn't seem to care about it..
Hello.
I am having something weird while at the gym and recording that activity under the "Other Workout":
I have the watch giving me the audible statistics ("audio guide") every 5 minutes (workout time, kcal, etc) even if I have set "Guide Frequency" to None. The setting is in the Gear S3 S-Health, Other Workout / Guide Frequency, I have set it to NONE.
But it seems that the setting it is not saved in the watch becuse once and again I find it again set to " every 5 minutes", and it gives the audio guide ALWAYS, every 5 minutes.
This is very annoying if listening to music via BT: it is interrupted every 5 mins.
Anyone having also this issue ? Any solution?
Thanks !
There is a separate guide frequency on the S3 itself. Before you start the workout scroll down to the bottom.
I've been having this problem also. I've gone into the SHealth app on the watch many times and changed it to "none", yet it just resets to 5 mins. Very frustrating!
Hello to all. I am a running person with offline spotify music.
I dont use Samsung offline music because i am a spotify premium user.
You know, sometimes "while running" you have to take a piss or drink some water.
To do so i always pause my workout by pressing top button on my device.
(music is still playing though)
When i am done, i re-press the pause button to resume my workout.
WHATTT?????!!!
GPS SIGNAL LOST!!!. That ugly orange GPS icon with cross on it appears.
This is a bug because while working out (running), GPS does not lose signal at all. This is not a hardware problem.
When i pause it for "lets say 5 minutes", it loses signal.
(spotify offline music is still playing)
I searched everywhere, have not found a proper solution to this problem. Turns out, or at least what i found is before pausing the workout, if i pause spotify music, my watch can detect GPS right after i resume my running.
I am at TIZEN 4.0.0.2
Firmware: R600XXU1BSB1
Knox : 2.3.0

The problem is not fixed. It sometimes helps, sometimes dont. I have some more solutions, one of which worked.
1) Before pausing the workout, stop, dont move for 3 seconds. Then hit pause. Before you start the activity. Stop. For 5 seconds. Then resume. [This partially works. About %80 of the time]
2) Buy Gear Tracker. It is an alternative tracker. Never experienced GPS issue but it uses Strava. I ran 9.23KM with Gear Tracker today. It is just beautiful. So many customization.
3) Never trust spotify. I use Sidify Music Converter. It helps a lot. I deleted spotify. It really sucks on Tizen.
