I don't understand...you are basically using your Blackberry/laptop configuration to make a mobile hotspot, right? If the Xoom can access the wifi signal for one app it should be able to for any app. Maybe I'm missing something. Can you give more explanation?

I connected my blackberry bold which has 3g to my laptop which broadcasts the connection via wifi. The chrome browser and android market and other goodies apps connect but installed apps don't connect. Plus I recently bought a huawei e5 mobile 3g wireless router. I got my xoom connected to the network but right now only the browser goes online,. The other apps just do not. I don't know what other piece of detail I can give other than the fact that my Xoom wifi is not connecting to 3g networks broadcast via wifi. Any ideas?
This is really very strange... I switched my 3G-Xoom into flight mode and then activated WiFi (so it basically behaves like a WiFi-only Version) and connected it to my mobile (Samsung Galaxy S) and all apps are able to access the internet. Connecting ist to a UMTS-Router (Option GlobeSurf) also worked like a charm...
Did you try to connect your Xoom to a WiFi-Router at home (= Internet access via cable not UMTS)? Does this work or do you encounter the same probs?
My Xepria J connected to my Wifi
I CAN surf the internet or use some apps that required internet
but I CANNOT use maps to load other countries and CANNOT connect to Play Store
but I can still surf the internet using PC which connected to the same Wifi
please HELP!!!
Is there any app that allows the same as Fqrouter2 wich is creating a wifi hotspot when connected to Wifi? So you can extend your range
Fqrouter2 doesnt seem to exist anymore on the Play Store all indevidual .APKs of the app fails to launch.
Anyone an idea?
I haven't found anything. I have only seen confirmations that works on rooted devices Android 4.3 and earlier.
Hello all,
I setup OpenVPN so I could access my home network and view my TWC Spectrum subscription when out and about . The Spectrum TV app is detecting that im using a VPN and limits what I can watch.
I see in the past users on XDA developers removed blocks from the old app (APK) but im wondering if there's another way to hide the fact I'm using a VPN. I am using the default port (1194) but I'm wondering if changing that will help before I go through and do that.
Thanks.

i had the same problem so i just spoofed the ip on a different time warner cable / spectrum node
and gave me all channels
How does it detect VPN? By outgoing IP or by the settings? Spectrum TV is not the only app. Netflix does the same.
@legendofsounds can you please elaborate on how you got this working?

twc spectrum assigns you an ip address (DHCP) for your subscription so that ip is only going to work for your username and password for the spectrum tv app.
What i did is i logged in to my Netgear r6300 router settings and went to the internet tab i seen my ip address and copied the same numbers shown for
ip: x.x.x.x
subnetmask: 255.255.x.x
defaultgateway: x.x.x.x
i went to visit my family in another city/Node
and logged in to they're router settings and set a static ip with the same ip i had back in my house
once i hit apply settings opened spectrum tv on a roku logged in with my credentials and it worked like a charm.
NOTE: If you try this in the same city where modem A is it wont work because the ip will have a conflict problem
Thanks for clarifying!
This is an interesting work around (and one I'm surprised works).
However, it doesn't help the situation I (and I believe the original poster) are in. I'm able to log into the VPN running on a machine inside my TWC hosted network using my router or even an individual PC, and that works fine. I'm able to see all channels.
Problem is when I'm on my phone using a mobile connection (or wifi on a network that I don't have control over). I can connect to the same VPN on my phone, but the TWC app disallows use when it detects that the phone itself is connected to a VPN. So it seems that we need a way to connect our phones to a VPN without the TWC app knowing it's connected to a VPN.
Is there a working modified apk that disables the VPN check?
Hi. Lot of app client/server use wi-fi and communicate with other device with a router in the middle. But if the phone is the hotspot itself (for share LTE) lot of app refuse to work. Like playstation second screen app ask for conf1=ps4<>router<>android device.
If the connection is conf2=ps4<>android device as hotspot the playstation app refuse to work because ask for enable android device wifi.
Exist a way for use conf2 ? For my opinion conf1 and conf2 can send data to each other device right? Because some app work with conf2 (like bubbleupnp, other upnp app have the same problem of playstation second screen app).

I don't know how to explain it properly, but, it doesn't work like that. It can't be the hotspot AND link with another device to share screen, etc...
As you said, you need a Wifi router between PS4 and your phone. If you have another android device, you can try enabling the hotspot on one android device, then use the other android device to connect to PS4<>hotspot phone<>android device. This would be the same as using your phone and PS4 via wifi router.

Ok. But the two device can share data in conf2 and conf1

There is a difference between sharing data and sharing data while connecting to another device for other purposes. The radio/modem in your device can't do both at the same time, only one or the other.
