Hi all.
Nethunter is here for Mediatek devices.
I have recently made a built of Kali Nethunter for my MT6572 device and it booted successfully. I'm sure many of u are looking out for nethunter supporting ur mediatek android devices.
What is Kali Nethunter?
Kali Nethunter is an Android ROM overlay that includes a robust Mobile Penetration Testing Platform. It can be used to carry out attacks such as; Wireless 802.11 frame injection, one-click MANA Evil Access Point setups, HID keyboard attack, as well as BadUSB MITM attacks. More info can be found here.
Preparing ur device.
>Make sure u are rooted.
>Have twrp recovery installed. If not, no worries, just download and use FlashFire app from playstore or from here. CWM recovery is not supported but must still be installed. However Philz CWM Touch Recovery works.
>Note the kernel version ur downloading for ur device. Kernel version can be found in settings>about device. Downloads in 3rd post.
>[IMPORTANT] Take full backup with mtktools in case of any problem.
How to install Nethunter on ur Mediatek Device.
Since u prepared ur device, it time to install.
[IMPORTANT] No need to wipe system data or anything. This is an overlaying rom which is meant to flash over an existing android rom.
For TWRP users:
>Download the correct nethunter zip sorted by kernel version form 3rd post below and place it in the root of ur internal/external(sdcard) of ur device.
>boot into ur TWRP recovery, tap "install", select the zip file from sd card/internal storage (according where u saved it) and swipe to flash.
>once done just reboot normally.
Thats'it
For those without TWRP:
>Download the correct nethunter zip sorted by kernel version form 3rd post below and place it in the root of ur internal/external(sdcard) of ur device.
>Download and install FlashFire from playstore, or from here.
>Open up the app and grant su permission.
>Select the (+) sign and select "Flash ZIP or OTA"
>Select drop down arrow and tap "Filesystem root". Then tap "mnt" and select "sdcard2"/"sdcard" (according where u saved the zip) and select the zip file.
>Now check the two boxes and tap (✓).
>On the main menu, scroll down and tap "FLASH". (Don't edit anything else.)
That's it.
Completing setup:
>Now that u have flashed and rebooted successfully, (don't open any app yet) open "Nethunter" app and grant su permissions.
>Go to "Kali Chroot Manager"and grant permission, than tap "INSTALL KALI CHROOT", tap "Download Latest, and select Full/Minimal chroot according to ur storage space.
>It will download. After download select "INSTALL KALI CHROOT" and it will install.
>Once done, reboot.
That's all. You have installed Kali Nethunter on ur mediatek device.
More Info in Downloads in 3rd post.

Hi can we use external WiFi adapter on android ?
Yes...
U will need to use external WiFi USB adapter like this one...
https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-N150-Wireless-Adapter-TL-WN722N/dp/B002SZEOLG
U will also need a otg cable or adapter for this.[emoji106]

-open a Kali terminal and type ifconfig
-look for wlan1. If not there type:
- "apt-get update"
-type "apt-get install firmware-atheros"
Check "airmon-ng" after re-plugging your adapter

@Brandon Indar Interesting work you did here. I was going to try this but thought it only worked for Android LP and above. Do you have a link to the source? I one you adapted for MT6572. I'm going to test this as my device is also MT6572 .

Awesome, I'll see if I can get it running on my device. Doesn't matter if some features are missing or not. I will apply the patches later if what I want doesn't work.

it seems to boot up successfully. i'm afraid that the zimage patcher while installing kali plugin was failed but it seems it flashed successfully anyways. i'll test it tomorrow for experimental wifi routers. im now running kali at cm13 and maybe it works on stock rom and s7 rom.

Do this in your ported rom
Open this file - mtk-kpd.kl - which is in folder system\usr\keylayout, using notepad++
you will see a line like this "key 102 HOME" press tab 3 times after HOME (to line up with second column) and write WAKE.
Save, exit, zip and flash, pressing home button will wake the phone.
ROM port for my MTK6577 device
Hi,
once I bought a phone with these specs:
MT6577 x2 1GHz
PowerVR SGX 531
Kernel compiled on 'rooter-pc' workstation by user: rooter ( build: eng.rooter.1372988609 )
CPU Identifier output: HDC I9500 (Galaxy S4 layout)
CPU Identifier benchmark result: 10235 (for 2 cores 20470, 2D graphics 8641)
Somewhere it said "CNANZHI"
Indicated Android version: 4.2.2
Indicated baseband version: UNIVERSAL5410
Indicated kernel version: 3.4.5-526212 [email protected] #1 Wed Apr 24 20:59:59 KST 2013
Indicated build version: JDQ39.I9500XXUAMDL
I tried to get some infos with this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2652889
but it seems that this MTK-phone is not one of the popular ones...
As I could not find any other ROM for this phone I like to port one on my own.
I know through board-search that @technut tried that before but sadly he had to give up.
Which base-ROM would you suggest as a starting point in this case as I like to try?
Best regards,
Pete

Increasing /system space in MTK 6577
Folks
Can anyone share a simple guide as to how we can increase /system space - not internal storage space - in MTK 6577 based phone. I have been searching for this , have browsed through all the existing guides but not able to get a fix on this.
Thanks
EDIT - Sorted out. Successfully increased the /system space. If any one is interested please go through the entire thread here and also visit the links recommended by the respondents

Hey,

I wonder where can i find/add an icon to open up the menu which includes all programs installed?
Kindly advise
my archos 50 neon is stock on bootlop and on cwm i cant connect to my pc please help me
Thanks
Thank you and all people involved with it for developing a custom rom for archos 50 neon. I flashed your custom rom after i accidentally kind of killed my android (dont ask why, its a stupid reason). It works really fine
I am happy with it. It has some function I always wanted to have on my phone, but couldnt and admired other phones for that.
A question : In the changelog you wrote that you fixed some 1 GB RAM problem, that it showed 515 MB RAM. What is that about ? I didnt really understand what you mean with that. My Phone shows 515 MB
PLEASE GUYS, can i get an upgrade for my archos 50neon jellybean to lollipop or marshmallow?
thanks.
the custom rom and recovery would be appreciated. **THUMBSUP**

Upgrade 50neon
Thanks bro.
So it means I have to stick to this one posted here huh?
One more question. I observed that when I signed into my Gmail account with this archos 50neon, Gmail sent me a security message saying that I an ACER ICONIA just signed in to tat account . What can you say about that ? I HD be been thinking about the compatibility of Acer iconia ROM on this archos 50neon.
And wat is @Rumeya talkin about .

I will try to port more ROMS maybe later but still in 4.2.2 because the bootloader 4.2.2 is not compatible with 4.4.4 or later and Archos will not devellop any new rom for this phone
The Acer iconia use the same SoC so google maybe mess up or the ROM i port come from an acer iconia didn't know cause i find a working ROM that i can port from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/rom-innjoo-i1-t2988125
Porting ROM for mt6582 SoC is really simple since Archos give us the stock 4.2.2 ROM with recovery.img and all the system files i will try to port 4.4.4 rom but I'm afraid of briking the phone cause the bootloader is not mean for.
Hope you will find this ROM better than the stock and i cannot promise to make any new ROM since this phone is not mine.

Well then, if you port please share it.
Hello, i am having Archos 50 Diamond (gsmarena.com/archos_50_diamond-7042.php) with stock Android 4.4.4. Shoul i try to install this ROM. Am i risking my current (stock) recovery can be made not working? (i do not understand Android workings)
Or only risk is that i would have to install again the stock firmware using my stock recovery mode (Service menu)?
My touch screen is not reacting on touch and my aim is to connected USB hub with mouse and keyboard. Do you see the way for me please?

How To Port Lollipop and Marshmallow Based ROMs for MTK Kitkat Devices
Only For Mediatek SOCs
This guide applies to same chipsets:
Example:
MT6592 to MT6592
MT6572 to MT6572
MT6582 to MT6582
And works also for different SOC with same GPU
Before starting this tutorial, please make a backup of your ROM
I am not responsible for any damage to your device, this guide is for expert users.
You Need:
- Winrar, 7-Zip or similar
- Notepad++
- Tool for unpack/repack MTK boot.imgs
- Your Stock KitKat ROM
- One Lollipop/Marshmallow ROM for port
- Brain
Step 1.- Unzip the Lollipop or Marsmallow ROM you want to port and also the Stock ROM. Rename the Lollipop/Marshmallow ROM folder to Port ROM
Step 2.- Delete this files or folders in Port ROM folder and replace with your files from Stock ROM:
Code:
-[B][SIZE="2"]system/etc/firmware <-- Folder
-system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl <-- File(if you have issues with softkeys and power, volume keys after replacing this file, try don't touch the original [COLOR="Blue"]usr[/COLOR] folder in port ROM. [URL="https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70381044&postcount=457"]See here[/URL][/SIZE][/B]
Step 3.-Open system/lib/hw folder in Stock ROM folder, then select & copy all files and paste to inside the system/lib/hw folder in Port ROM replacing files.
Note: if you porting a ROM from a different SOC, delete this files before in port rom, like this: audio.primary.mt65xx.so, audio_policy.mt65xx.so, gralloc.mt65xx.so, hwcomposer.mt65xx.so, ligths.mt65xx.so, sensors.mt65xx.so etc.
Step 4.-Rename your stock kitkat boot.img to stockboot.img and the boot.img from Port ROM folder to portboot.img. Now unpack the boot.imgs, use the kernel 3.4.67(zImage)from your decompiled stockboot.img and the ramdisk folder from decompiled portboot.img, recompile it and put this new boot.img in Port ROM folder. Read my post #144.
Step 5.- Open the updater-script in META-INF from port rom, open it with Netepad++. Edit the format &mount points(compare with your updater-script from stock META-INF)
Example:
Code:
format("ext4", "EMMC", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p[COLOR="Red"]5[/COLOR]", "0", "/system");
format("ext4", "EMMC", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p[COLOR="Red"]7[/COLOR]", "0", "/data");
mount("ext4", "EMMC", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p[COLOR="Red"]5[/COLOR]", "/system");
Step 6.- Zip the Port ROM folder and flash it in recovery mode and enjoy.:highfive:

You can't port a ROM from a phone with different processor, for example Android Marshmallow 6.0 from Nexus to Mediatek phone. This guide is only for porting ROMs from Mediatek to Meadiatek devices. About your Mediatek HelioX10 phone need another Mediatek HelioX10 phone running Android 6, the next mediatek Heliox10 running Android 6 will be the Elephone P9000

If you want to port the same version of Lollipop you need to delete and replace
-system/etc/firmware
-system/lib/egl
-system/lib/hw
-system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl
-system/vendor
and also the port boot.img with your stock lollipop boot.img and make changes in mount points of the updater-script. For porting Lollipop 5.1.1 or CM12.1 to your device running lollipop 5.0, you need decompile your boot.img and the boot.img from lollipop 5.1.1. Use the zImage from your stock boot.img and the ramdisk from the boot.img of lollipop 5.1.1 or CM12.1 ROM and follow the steps 2, 3 and 4 of this guide(not forgetting to make changes in mount points of the updater-script)
Bro, can i use this method to port rom from MT6752 to MT6589? For the kitkat stock rom i'm using CM11(mt6589) and for lollipop can i use stock rom of lenovo k3 note(mt6752)?
Is this also applicable for porting non lollipop based roms from other SOCs? (e.g. 6582, 6589 to 6572?)
Will this work on meizu m2 note having MT6735 chipset

hello,
I was abput to download this attachment.. it downloaded half on my chrome and got stuck after it was about to complete and suddenly stopped with error.. unfortunately it failed to resume and restarted downloading from start..:crying: :crying:
Sir I sent you a pm on Facebook..
Sir the baseband fixes that you uploaded for myPhone my36 isn't working..
Tried it on 3 of these devices but can't make the RIL work..
I also tried to replace the modem.img (mddb folder) but it didn't work..
The fixes I tried for these device are:
-Backup of a working nvram & nvdata in TWRP 3.0.2 and restore it on every flash of a new ROM
-as well as Miracle box too.. Made a backup and restored it on a new ROM.
Those two methods work..
