Some of you have been asking: "What is this?", so here's my answer:

Normally, you would have to take the OTA or revert to stock in some way to have these updated and it's a huge pain, especially since there isn't yet a root method for the 10k stock ROM. The point of these TWRP flashables is that you would be able to update the bootloader and/or modem WITHOUT going back to stock.

The firmwares were extracted from the corresponding KDZ or OTA ZIP file and repackaged into a TWRP flashable ZIP so you can easily update your phone without reverting to stock, flashing the KDZ, etc. I test flash these on my own phone before publishing them here, but that's no guarantee they will work for you.
Because someone's gotta do it...
More about modem versions: the only way to tell what radio is installed is via Settings -> About Phone -> Software info under the "Baseband version" section. It appears that even though each official version release (10d, 10i, 10j, 10k, etc) contains a modem binary, not every release has a newer modem. However, since the hashes and sizes of the extracted modems are different for each one, I have decided to package and upload them anyways, just in case there's something different that we can't see.

Thank you for this! I had dedicated the day to updating the long way. So glad you posted and I checked the forums first!
Anyone try either? Any certain order?
Sent from my LG-H918 using Tapatalk
Just flashed both, think I did bootloader then radio, shouldn't make a difference since they are two different partitions.
But got me working on WETA without having to update the long route. Shouldn't be issues as long as you flash to the correct device haha

Unfortunately, LG splits the system img into many files inside the KDZ. Usually, merging them produces a valid system img but with the V20, I haven't been able to make one that will flash correctly (10d, 10i, 10j) so I decided not to post broken stuff

Hello everyone,
I have updated the OP with links to the newly released 10k bootloader and modem.
Cheers!
When is this required? I'm still on modded stock 10d and I would like to update to a 10k ROM. Should I flash this, manually root again, then flash new ROM? I'm so confused ?
It's been a while since I've done anything with my phone and I finally have some time this weekend to update it.
does the bootloader and modem for thew new K release have to be flashed on top of a stock ROM that supports it or can i just go ahead and flash them while being in a customed 7.1.0 ROM.will it break recovery or the rom?

Installation Directions:
Boot into TWRP recovery, you will need it installed.
It is recommended to clear your system partition (performing a clean flash) before installing any kind of ROM ZIP. This is not needed, but recommended. You can do this by going into Wipe>Advanced Wipe, and then selecting the partitions that you want to clear.
IMPORTANT: If you want to keep your custom recovery/TWRP, you have to either flash a root-installing ZIP or another zip that retains the recovery installed. Android will attempt to override your custom recovery with the stock recovery when you flash a stock ROM, so if you don't want to lose TWRP, I suggest you do this.
Flash the desired ZIP. If you want the full ROM, flash the COMPLETE ZIP. If not, then choose the ZIP that you want to install.

I downloaded the 21a and took the OTA updates. I saw your thread right as I finished my downloads. I will be downloading your .zip tonight thought. (DSL means I have to be extremely bandwidth conscious, with 5 people using a 4mb connection).
In related news, the OTA updates from 21a -> 21b don't seem to have replaced TWRP. That's good. :good:
edit: 21b -> 21c replaced TWRP with the stock recovery. grumble grumble.
Any chance you can do this for 21b? I need the stock recovery (and possibly boot) to take the ota from 21b to 21c (rather than wiping and flashing this). Thanks for any help.
Is it possible to install this using LGUP for my RS988? I can't receive the 11d OTA in order to unlock the bootloader because my carrier never pushed it.

hey you would happen to have the kdz file for rs98821c

Asgard 7.0 does work with this version of the ROM. However, I (and a lot of other users) have run in to a few problems, including random bootloops and freezing.
I am not aware of any other kernels available for our model (RS988).
Hey guys I believe yesterday a new firmware dropped for the rs988, version RS98821d, I think it is mostly just Android security updates, but I'm wondering if anyone would be able to post the kdz or tot image for it?

According to the Verizon Galaxy S5 Update Page:
Android® Security Patch Level: 2017–08-01
The current software update gives you the most up to date Android security patches on your device.

This is basically the same thing they are doing with other devices. Since Samsung never released their September Security patch due to them addressing the BlueBorne problem, they have been re-releasing the QH* updates as QI* but they include the BlueBorne patch. For some reason, Verizon didn't include the BlueBorne patch in the changelog like they have been for every other phone.
For example. The Galaxy S6, Galaxy S8, and Galaxy S8+ updates all say
Includes: Blueborne security patch
The current software update gives you the most up to date Android® security patches on your device.

Who knows why they chose to include the exact same changelog as the prior update with the same security patch. Whatever. Verizon sucks. We all know it.

Also, I'm not sure how much longer I'll be doing this though because the screen on my S5 is going bad (flickering and flashing green whenever I bring it out of sleep) so this weekend I'm getting an S8+.
so its safe to say that the new modem ql2 is pretty much the same sa the previous update?
Updated to this build from QH2, flashed in odin, then booted up, reflashed TWRP and SU, froze system updater all good. If you do end up leaving, this will just be another loss for this model as no one else is updating the stock images anymore.
Thank you for your work on this. Does this have root, and if not, do those of us with locked bootloaders have a way to keep root and safestrap?
Tell us how the S8+ goes and if you can unlock the bootloader and root that. Thanks again!

For the record, this loses root, and loses safestrap. I'm too dumb to know how to root this since I can't get TWRP on this phone, so I'm going to hope the way back to root and safestrap is get back Kitkat and then up to PB1 starting over using these steps.. This will probably be better for someone who knows what they're doing or just wants to upgrade for the security updates and doesn't care about root.

I have a 15 Emmc chip and unlocked the bootloader via this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve.../testers-required-easier-root-method-t3561529
I flashed EMMC_15_VZW_QB2_STOCK_MAGISK_ROOT.zip to my phone. I also have TWRP installed.
Now, if I understand all this correctly, I can simply flash your Developler Boatloader friendly version via TWRP? This will upgrade my OS to the latest update? Then flash Magisk to get root back?
This all seems too simple.
You will also have to re-flash TWRP via Odon.

I too followed the instructions in the thread above for a CID 15 eMMC.
I was unable to flash the "G900VVRU2DQI2_G900VVZW2DQI2_G900VVRU2DQI2_HOME_No_ Aboot.tar.md5.zip" from the OP using TWRP, but was able to do it no problem using Odin 3.12 (AP option).
After flashing that I then used Odin again (AP option) to flash the latest TWRP (https://dl.twrp.me/klte/twrp-3.1.1-0-klte.img.tar.html). I then did another factory reset on the phone (since I had already just wiped my data following the bootloader instructions) and reinstalled Magisk from TWRP and MagiskManager.
Everything looks great so far. Thanks for this update OP and for those of you providing guidance.
I have G900VVRU2DPD1 with unlocked bootloader and twrp 3.0.0-0.
Can I flash the
Developer Bootloader Friendly/No Aboot No-Wipe Firmware:
G900VVRU2DQI2_G900VVZW2DQI2_G900VVRU2DQI2_HOME_No_ Aboot.tar.md5.zip ?
If yes, after flashing, will my bootloader remain PD1 unlocked? Is it OK to have unlocked PD1 bootloader with DQI2 firmware?
Will the TWRP and root be lost? And how I can get back TWRP? Using ODIN? If root is lost then can not use flashify to flash TWRP.
If using odin to flash TWRP, then I can just flash supersu zip in zip to get root back, right?
Thanks.
I guess this is slightly off topic since it's not about this specific firmware version, but here goes ~
How do you guys go about extracting firmware/modems from stock ROM updates?? It boggles my mind lol. I'm running a OP3T now, but am working on an old device (and I still have my old S5 too). Over the years it appears people are now able to do this process for most devices and make it flashable one way or another.
I wish I understood how this gets done (and possibly figure out how to do it myself). Would love a guide / video / brief explanation with terms I could look up if it's long & involved??
Thanks for the work!

Stock ROM update is just a tar archive with files inside.
The names of the files are mostly self-explaining.
Use some tool to access the archive, like Total Commander or 7zip archiver.

Just pack what you want into tar archive and it will be flashable.
No need to attach checksum.
But it's possible too.
Say, this tar-file is flashable:

Can I reuse the same Magisk from the "EMMC_15_VZW_QB2_STOCK_MAGISK_ROOT.zip" file from the other thread on how to unlock bootloader and root, or should I download the latest Magisk and MagiskManager?
Edit 1: Okay, I installed Magisk after updating to the latest QI2 and am rooted. However, I found that I'm missing busybox and safestrap. Do I have to reinstall both of those as well or can I just reinstall busybox?
Also, QI2 lost tether/hotspot capability as it reverted back to asking to purchase the service (I'm also on the old grandfathered unlimited plan)...is there a way to get it back as when on rooted QB2?
Edit 2: Did some more research while hiding at work...so now I know, having TWRP recovery is enough and just need to reinstall busybox.
Now still need to find a way to get hotspot capability back like when on the rooted magisk QB2...
Thanks

Can't say why your Bluetooth isn't working anymore... But are you aware that you are not running an EUR device? I'm not sure if you can swap parts of the firmware from OPT2 to EUR that easy.

Asgard kernel requires bootloader 10d or something, so it automatically flashes that. It also flashed kernel modules to /system/lib/modules
So you probably now have bootloader 10D with 10Q rom, with Asgard kernel modules... on top of that stock kernel uses forced module signing, so now it can't load the modules.
You'd better start over, or flash 10q bootloader and somehow get the right modules into system again.

Wow mate, I'm running an EUR H850 LG G5 device
The details above were totally screwed as I explained - after flashing an asgard kernel... Not sure why they werent fixed after fashing your boot zip but now after flashing your complete zip package without no wipes my phone is up and runnig with bluetooth and all the stuff working with no problems again ! I reported the issue above because I thought you may have missed to change some of the strigns that print that info right... Anyway your complete zip works like a charm so I din't have to wipe/reflash kdz from lg brige or lgup so thank you ! Here is my software info page now:
Coming from 20K. Flashed the complete ROM, SU (latest), Xposed 88.2. First boot was about 15 minutes! I almost gave up but after about 10 minutes "Android is upgrading" appeared so I waited more. I had no reception after the upgrade for few minutes (new radio to blame?). Now all seems normal.
I hope it will fix some bugs from 20K. Thanks @DavidFlint and @autoprime !
Does flashing the complete package overwrite TWRP? I'm thinking about going back to stock from Fulmics but bot quite sure how to proceed. Can anybody point me in the right direction?
Like do I flash the complete package, Magisk, and I'm good to go?
This still ARB 0 ?

I don't know about the ZIP, but if you flash the open eu KDZ on your phone you'll get warning about something. Somewhere on the phone there are settings that the ROM reads and it'll know you're not supposed to use open eu on EEO.
I think deleting the contents of cust partition will remove the warnings, you need root for that, or you can flash Fulmics rom, that should take care of it.

I flashed directly from 10 and it worked, but it is risky. I did full backup before doing so. I wish I could go back to 10 as easy. Android N isn't supported by few older apps and brings new bugs for me as: broken quick charge, higher battery consumption, less convenient quck switch. IMHO LG did a really slappy job with Nougat for G5.
MEGA upload would be better.
Hey @DavidFlint.
Thanks for your work
Seems 20t is out. Any chances for a zip?
I flashed this firmware, tried both .zip through twrp and .kdz through LGUP. I flashed it to remove a Vodafone UK logo when booting up.
For some reason the Software version says V20s-234-15 instead of V20s-EUR-XX but the rest is exactly the same? Why is that anyone knows? I got another LG G5 H850 and it says V20s-EUR-XX. Any difference?
This rom is battery hungry. Really bad battery.
Maybe it's time to change the battery (a luxury not many people have nowadays) or maybe take a look at some rogue app. My uptime improved with this ROM.

Zips don't contain recovery, so you'll keep your recovery after flashing. You have to flash Magisk/SuperSU if you want root. If you want to stay unrooted then flash the noveriety zip.

Is stock recovery included in the flashable ZIP so I have to delete it or no stock recovery included so I can flash straight? Thank you very much!
I don't know why for only a security patch, they make a whole new 2GB file. Why not making it like windows? that we can download only the patch file, and install.
A question: Can we root it? Because usually it has stock recovery, and we can't install TWRP and magisk through stock recovery. I tried it a lot with 20N and couldn't.

No, there is no stock recovery included in the ZIP archives. If you have TWRP installed you can just flash the "COMPLETE" ZIP. If you flash the kdz you will get the stock recovery.
To gain root just flash SuperSU after flashing the ZIP before reboot.
Hey @DavidFlint
Thank you for the port. I'm currently downloading it.
I was wondering.. do you mind creating a step-by-step how-to guide for anyone willing to make a flashable zip from KDZ like yours?
It'll be very useful and it'll be really appreciated by the community.
In the future you might not have time to do it etc etc so someone else can work on it.
Thanks for considering it
Thank you very much for this!
I was looking around in TWRP Recovery file manager what apk it was that was blocking me from using the phone after unlocking bootloader but I gave up when I found this.
Just out of curiosity, is it just an app or is it more that blocks after unlock + factory reset?

So based on research it seems I need to install the latest bootloader and modem on my phone to resolve a slow charging issue on resurrection remix 5.8.5.
Is it as simple as just flashing from within the latest TWRP or is this going to cause me to have to re-flash the OS, etc or unlock the bootloader again?

Is it as simple as just flashing from within the latest TWRP or is this going to cause me to have to re-flash the OS, etc or unlock the bootloader again?

You won't lose anything - I did it on mine a year or so ago and it went smooth as butter
Just flash them in TWRP, it's basically an update and won't re-lock or wipe anything

Not for me. Never ever had error boxes after flash...
Weird..well it's all good
Thanks..always feel good to delete everything through twrp..
Did you say the complete package goes back to stock recovery..can't get into twrp..do the usual key combos..select yes twice but no recovery comes up

If you want to keep twrp with the complete zip you have to install supersu/magisk or no-verity-opt-encrypt. Use this https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/development/stock-h850-20d-eu-rom-flashable-zips-t3592762 as a guide.

No, there is no stock recovery included in the ZIP archives. If you have TWRP installed you can just flash the "COMPLETE" ZIP. If you flash the kdz you will get the stock recovery.
To gain root just flash SuperSU after flashing the ZIP before reboot.

As quodet, the complete zip DON'T flash stock firmware, so something goes wrong with your phone. Try to flash it again.

Is normal: 2 popup with errors (one is about NTCODE, isn't it?):it's because the nationality of your phone is not the same (actually I don't know if it happens only when you make a "dirty update" from a firmware that is from your region, someone reported that using KDZ to flash first in "refurbished, than in "upgrade" will solve the problem), you have 2 solutions:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/how-to/cust-error-solution-t3507311 or the easyest one: make a backup of the CUST folder and delete what's inside!
