This is exciting news, I can't wait and definitely am willing to test it for you.

Need Help
I have compiled LinageOS 14.1 for this device. However, it will NOT boot. I believe that all we need to do is fix the boot image file. I am having an extremely difficult time porting the boot image file. I was wondering if anyone here can maybe port it for me. I have tried replacing the LinageOS boot.img with the stock boot.img and I get nothing but an infinite boot loop. I have also tried a lot of other things to port the boot.img but I cannot remember everything I have tried. I will provide the links to my LinageOS compile and the boot image files in this post.
Download Link
Remember DO NOT try anything without a working backup of everything first.

Maybe I could take a crack at it today if I have some free time after painting and I hook up the trusty Dell precision. I'm more comfortable with systems that run already but I'm willing to do some research if there's even a chance I could help. Thanks again for what you've compiled so far!

Here to Help
What can I do to help ? I have a device, a backup, and money if worst comes to worst, I am determined to make this work.

Lineage OS
I am very interested in the development, also if this person has working META-INF that will help me out too, so I can help someone release a rom and they can help me, as I said before this is all very new to me.

I'd love some help getting started on making any ROM, even if it's Slim AF to start with (since you already figured out how to do that), then I'd try something else. I have Ubuntu already installed, but need some basic help, like what repo to download and what files to modify. If you can help with that, I'd really appreciate it as we may have more ROMs to choose from .

Nice work. Will this be based off the latest security updates B150 (think stock came with B130 firmware) and root?
Love this as a starting point. Did you free up any of the internal storage that is dedicated to the system? As we know there is only 8GB free of the 16G. Does SLIM ROM change things in this regard? Just curious.

yes
I have managed to free up a little over 2gb of space, I am still looking for other bs that is taking up so much space, i'm thinking its another partition, so give me a while to figure out what i can safely remove to get us more space. I also work 2 jobs lol i dont have a ton of free time but this phone is my daily driver and i am very determined to get something to work for it!

Hate to be that guy but I'm just so excited to try a new ROM on this phone! Has anyone made any milestones on lineage or RR or anything else? I understand nothing's quite ready and that's why nobody's said anything but I'm itching for good news lol.

I will release Resurrection Remix soon, I just want to work out some critical bugs before I do. It's pretty stable as of now, I am posting from it. As of now, Wi-Fi, the camera, and the phone's internal loudspeaker don't work, I think Wi-Fi is going to require me to compile a custom kernel but that won't be too difficult. After I get those things to work, I will compile a flashable zip and release.

Thank you so much for your hard work on this ROM and device. I'm sure I can safely speak for all of us about how exciting this is. If at any point you need someone to test a particular version I'm very confident in making a backup of where I am now and diving in to submit feedback for kernel changes or anything else you need more than one phone to try on.

well i started working on ressurection remix as well dont know my eta if he gets his done cool if not then hope mine gets done

Sorry for not posting an update I've been swamped with work and laying tile I still have yet to install BBQ Linux if by the time I'm done laying tile we still don't have a room I will see to it that I make one

i dont guess any of these ROMs ever saw the light of day? lol been a long time since posts it appears, and there aren't many ROMs to find for the h1611 it seems. Nexus XT looks promising, but i cant download it because every link is a 7 hour download that fails a few hours in. satisfied enough i guess with stock rooted, but i want more, might have to keep this phone for a while until i can get a higher end one.

ive got some emui based roms like the nexus one is a emui based one im in the works of making a more vanilla like experience rom to try improve performance etc. and working on building a device tree for the xt its a work in progress for that. but the other rom wont be the swift n fast slim it will be called something else ill post it soon as its almost done

kind of lame
Well there goes that... I thought maybe someone on XDA would have had something, saw this and was like yes!!! I didn't waste my money on a Walmart purchase of a cheapo tablet. Well yeah.... *SIGH* All because the thank you button wasn't pushed enough? Maybe there are not that many people (owners of this tablet on XDA) yet to push the button?

Also didn't realize that pushing the button made people this depressed? Wonder how we'll all survive the Zombocalypse if people don't start pushing the thank you button? Just saying.... :silly:

Vampirefo, I really wish you had not killed this one. Yes, people are sh---ts. But not all you know. I for one appreciate all the work you have done on this tablet. Cheap with a lot of upside potential. And if you really brick it, you are only out $78! Any chance of your reconsidering re-posting the links and taking up the cause again?
this guy was a baby if he thinks he needs a pat on the back for prepping a rom...what a dickweed. shame on him for needing some confidence
The ARES should live!!!!
I for one think that YES there are MANY and MANY an asshole on the internet, But this Tablet does have some great potential., And now there is also the ARES 8L with has the EXACT same hardware as the ARES 8 but also has support for 4G LTE Data, through Verizon, I think,.... ANyway I would love to see more done with this Tablet., I myself have gotten into a Jam., I rooted my ARES removed the encryption and installed TWRP recovery., But I was playing around later, actually using an official NextBookusa.com flashing tool, (i know stupid idea) and I formatted the System partition., So now all I can do with the Tab is boot into TWRP or boot into the Bootloader... It sucks., I need a TWRP backup that I could download and place on my SD card., But it seems that there was a lot of excitement (or at least activity) about this tablet for a while and then it all just died away., I personally would LOVE to see it come back.,
-Eric
P.S. If anybody out there would be willing to upload a copy of their TWRP backup from an ARES 8 that would be awesome!! Please just PM me...
P.P.S If I knew how to make my own custom mod I would... My lack of knowledge in that area is almost criminal....

Or at least replace the links and just let everybody know that you will not be doing any future work on the project?
The ARES is the ONLY tablet I own, I don't have the budget to buy anything else and currently my ARES tablet has no OS installed at all., I NEED a ROM, or even just a TWRP backup of the original!!! Otherwise all I have is a paper weight and not even $78 in my wallet to buy another....
I implore you good sir, at least replace/ re-post some working links before you walk away from the project...

vampirefo I don't suppose you either still have this file or a bone stock boot and system img for the 5.1.1 firmware do you? This device was given to my roomie's daughter and the only way I could recover it was with your other rom. I mostly want the 5.1.1 image for updated blobs and build.prop, but having the images would help with other projects I'm considering.

Android 7.0 Discussion

THIS PROJECT HAS BEEN ABANDONED.SORRY :crying:
Sorry guys. This project has been abandoned due to not much development skills, family problems, focus on study so there's no time to work on this project.
I hope the rom by PolishVodka will be fixed so you can taste Nougat :fingers-crossed:
I think Aosp Or CM 14 would be good.Thank You. I can be the tester for you ;D
Best option will be CM14.1. In poll it should go rather to AOSP or Customized category?
And of course, I can test things
Latest AOSP 7.1.1 already built alot "customized" inside, Janice will too heavy to load if more customized. Except you will make CM14.1 smaller and add OC inside. Testers are always ready... LOL XD
I don't have this device but I'm willing to help port nougat to this device. I believe that CM14.1 is easier to port because ace 2 has CM14.1 and we can use its patches and misc. stuff. Also, Epirex already started N bringup last time but it's not complete:
https://github.com/Epirex/android_device_samsung_janice/commits/cm-14.0
https://github.com/Epirex/android_device_samsung_u8500-common/commits/cm-14.0
Good Luck
NEWS!
I'm working on it soon and I will be helped by my friend who interested to join this project.
But! This ROM may be coming in 4 or 5 months or possibly 6 months because I have to start focus on my study next month.
If I still not developing Nougat for this device in more than 6 months, it surely have been abandoned.
Someone could develop Nougat for this device soon?
well good luck bruv. i would be happy to test it.. and well studies are important , you take your time .
Thank you for understanding,dude.
Honestly speaking 4 or 5 month or maybe never... is way too LOOOONNNNNGGGGG...... LOL
Suggestion u ask ChronoMonochrome and SergeyL that active developer for Ace2 that build CM14.1 to help u. They are good XDA member that willing too help community. Maybe will at least faster boot up seriously.

Nougat for Honor 6?

Hi guys!
I used to have a Y635 but I decided to change to this model . I can't believe there is no more rom for this phone that is clearly better and that no one is working on a Nougat rom when it already exist for the Y635.
Is this really true? :crying:
I am working on it but not near completed at all.
I didn't even get it to boot yet, in fact just started a week ago.
Will try to post first public beta by 15th February.
Psst, I'm working on MM right now, not nougat, but if it works moving to nougat shouldnt be hard.
This sounds good! :good:

CyanogenMod.
I am not completely free on it and I just recently started... To show you how very early i am, I still gotta build the recovery first. (Last time I built it, it wasn't booting.. ) don't know why though, will debug it later and fix it.
(Note that this is my first port so I am still getting the hang of the things)
Will create a thread once I get the ROM itself boot first time
Don't expect that soon though

Check that, they are building aosp MM from Mate 7 aosp mm sources. It's working, but it's buggy.

I only work in weekends, so that's why it's pretty slow.. so I don't know if I will ever get it to work before losing hope and giving up.
I will try to pm some professionals and get some help from them. And also will try forking the mate 7 ROM and modify it for honor 6, I think will be easier and faster.

Hows the fight going? I'd REALLY like to see a custom ROM booting on this phone before it becomes so old it doesn't matter anymore...
Keep us informed on the progress Belmolx, we appreciate your hard work!
Hey I have a Blu Life One X2. I am a developer and have made some really good findings. I also built some tools (autoroot, toolkit, etc..).
We have an unofficial website here: http://www.blox2.com
I made my own rom, and so have a few others. We based it off the stock roms, as we cant get any other rom booting (except CM13; lots of bugs)
If possible, can you assist us? Like:
1. Did you port lineage or compile it? What guides did you follow (links please)?
2. Have you compiled the kernel? Our kernel will not boot no matter what (compiled with a ton of different toolchains too);
3. What device do you use for porting?
4. Do you have a /system RW crash (crash when mounting system as RW)?
Thanks!

@bemolx has forgotten about this device and has moved on to other devices and in the process has left all of us hanging he pays more attention on other devices just look at his profile @bemolx has made huge promises but has lied to us uploading half ass things which are buggy and literally **** he's forgotten about all of us who were looking towards him but he doesnt care I understand that he's not our slave and doesnt have to do anything but making false promises and playing with the feelings of other people is also not a good thing

I understand your disappointment.
However, it's not that simple as you may think. As a student I have to focus on school subjects and it really takes pretty much my whole free time. Also, this school year I have to defend my diploma thesis and this is my main task to focus on as for now.
You've mentioned my work on other devices too - yeah, I have couple of them to play with. But it doesn't mean I forgot about Pure XL. Other devices are just easier to deal with than this freaking Chinese clone. All of them have been maintained at the same time. Source code is always available on my GitHub profile, wanna try yourself?
If I have been paid (don't mind, just an example) $1000, I would have made a working custom ROM in a week! But I'm not and this is only my intention to do so. As for a freelancer dev it's not that important thing. I promised the custom ROM, you'll see it, in the future, not now.
Anyway, what the hell you've been expecting with MTK-based Chinese clone from the company that doesn't care about their customers and has made one, maybe two OTAs...?
You´re completely right. We thank you for your time and effort put to make this phone be more awesome. BLU is the big liar here. I don´t even use my phone as a Blu Pure XL, instead I use the X2Xtreme rom fully.
Take your time @bemolx and don´t mind what non-developers say in the forums, they´re always asking for ETAs and to make things better just for their daily use and dont know the effort put behind every custom thing made.
I really hope you succeed on your thesis (good) cheers man!

Yeah no I understand what @Superbat1680 is trying to say but at the same time I also understand what @bemolx is going this being a Final year student who also has to defend his thesis I can understand pretty much what he's going through
I'd just like to say that may you be successful in your defense and hopefully we can get a good custom rom in the near future
Good luck mate???

@bemolx
Well for now focus on finishing the university, we'll be rooting for you and maybe in the near future or so after you finish with all, when you have free time and the spirit to start working on a custom rom for this phone we'll see you post an update. I personally would love if you could make a version of android that is the latest like Oreo is now...until then I hope you're having a great day.

Any update on the progress of this rom?????
Hi guys,
I'm working on implementing CLT for Pure XL to get a booting GSI Treble image. I'd say it will be a semi-Treble ROM rather that pure Treble or custom ROM. I hope I will post some update soon.
Who knows, maybe even Pie will boot, who knows..
Cheers
Can't wait to test this rom on my Allview X2 Soul Xtreme and of course give you feedback.
I don't know if it's because of the stock rom or not, but the phone just freezes from time to time(making me force restart the phone), especially when it get hot. Maybe... hopefully this rom will help with that.
Besides, being unable to update from 5.1.1 makes it that some apps are incompatible which sucks.
Thank you bemolx for all the time and effort put into this rom and we all wish you the best.

Ressurection Remix Project Treble is a ROM that you can try. Use the ARM Only A devices version.
It will boot. But phone camera Bluetooth etc will not work. The Android Store will buzz every 2 seconds asking you to register custom ROM and getting Android Service Framework ID is not straightforward.
Welcome to a 80 USD brick. I did it. Given, how enthusiastic you guys are, I believe you'd do it too. If you backup your image before screwing your phone, please share, I need to go back!!!

Naaaaaa I'ma wait till there's a rom specifically for our device. I only have this as my phone so I need it for calling and stuff. And I'm a photographer so when I don't have my camera it's nice to have my phone lol. Maybe once the gsi gets worked on more and there's Bluetooth and camera working then I'll try it lol

enjoy waiting months then. there is almost no interest in developing for this phone. GSI's will have to do. go bugtest those and submit logcats to the devs.
GSIs
Anyone get a GSI to work on this phone yet? I'm totally new to that development.
Nevermind, I just read above that the phone and camera wont work with what's out there now. I'd delete this entire message but I don't see that option.

Yes, literally any *arm A* (non 64 bit or AB partition) GSI will work. On the g6 only Bluetooth and audio playback have major issues.

First of all you have to wait for months on regular custom roms, and interest will pick up the more people get this phone, so as you can see GSIs won't have to do, learn to be patient or get another device that has development if you can't be patient like the rest of us.

There are 3 different kinda of Resurrection Remix out so gotta know which one works I had that same problem Bluetooth didn't work and on standby the fun while playing music was choppy but what I did was use my stock files then ported them to the custom RR Remix then rebooted and it worked fine then I found another RR Remix that worked with every thing except the keyboard mic wasn't working and camera worked too ..
