Here is an old version of mx player 1.8.10 free where ads were still non-intrusive and where the video player is still functional

Those 'bug fixes' (I personally cannot tell which bugs are fixed) are not good enough reasons for me to tolerate the intrusive ads.

Yesterday I wasted much time scanning for malware because of these ads. The Clean something ad saying my phone was full took up the whole screen and didn't have an x in the corner to close it. So instead of opening the file I have to figure out how to get rid of the thing plus make me think I've got some kind of virus. Isn't some kind of small banner enough?

I uninstalled mxplayer on 5 phones and 2 android tablets so far.

Devs also has life. They need some funds to maintain the development of the app. As android is extremely bloated with piracy, it's very difficult to get the necessary funds from pro version itself. So, we have forced to show some more ads
We are hearing to the users. We will try to further optimise the app to show ads without affecting user experience.
If you found any ads, that may not be suitable / with some abusive contents, you can report it here. We will take the necessary actions.
When I heard of 1.8.17 update that disabled full screen ads, I updated it and it went fine, just for a few moments. The next time I reinstall the 1.8.17, the full screen ads appeared again, more frequent, even after updating to 1.8.20 either via Play or APKMirror; happen everytime MX Player window is opened or when exiting the player, forces me to switch to 1.0.7 Beta APK for Indian markets. At least, it's still enjoyable without the annoying full screen ads.
EDIT: And I started to getting full screen ads on the beta APK. What a shame.

MX Player Pro version is still Ad-Free. In fact in 1.9.x versions the ad modules are removed from the Pro app.
Granted the ads are intrusive, but boycotting the app all together will hinder development of it in the future. If you truly find the ads that irritating but think the app is good enough to bother looking for an older version of it, then why not buy the pro version? is it really that expensive? wouldn't you want to be on the cusp of bugfixes ?

I have 2 others 3rd party file manager and all of them is using full network access. I think it is because they using bluetooth or wifi direct when we share files. Correct me if im wrong

I am currently using vold.fstab located in /system/etc/, do you have file similar or in another location so that I can check various mount paths? This would be the first step. Thanks!

That, and ads need network access as well.
Make a paid version then. Im tired of every app requesting full network access. Its completely unnecessary. At what point did we as a community accept this as the norm?
I would rather you release a free version with less functionality then a free version with ads that requires full internet access. If the app turns out to be usefull then charge a buck or two and people will gladly pay, myself included.

It is simple, as much you want to believe people can make money on android without ads, you are mistaken. Regardless of how well the app is, people are still not going to pay for it. If you find my app doing something it shouldn't, then report it. Thank you for at least looking at the app. I am sorry that it just for you. Is there anything else I could do to appease without removing the ads? There are only two ways to make money on android, people paying for them, and people using ads. Sadly, more money is still made on ads and not enough is made in paid versions. My app doesn't use the internet unless its the free version for ads. I can't thank you enough for the response. Latest Fearch update as been posted to OP. Get it before its even on google play. Fixed a samsung storage issue, added a new feature for pro users to exclude folders, and I removed ads. That is right no more ads!

thanks for a very useful app. Note that it does not show on the play store, even when I search the store for 'fearch'. There is another app called fearch that appears to be something completely different.
in any case, I was able to download the apk and install it. but the link to the pro version launches the play store with an 'item not found' message.

Where can I download a version of MX Player that has the scareware virus warnings removed from it? I don't need my software telling me my photos are going to be deleted if I don't download a malware infested antivirus scanner.
When it shows such warning, collect log using mx log collector or from help menu and report here. It will blacklisted.

I didn't have any other apps running as you can see from the notification bar. Just File Manager HD which launched MX Player. I really don't have much installed on this tablet. Also, it's pretty obvious the ads are coming from Yahoo. Are you using Yahoo Ads?
Sorry, I was unaware of the debug feature. I'll do that if it should happen again.

Thanks. Oh yeah, if I failed to mention... the alert() only appeared when I hit the pause button. It appeared the same time the banner ad appeared, so that script might have piggy backed with the banner?
I don't imagine File Manger HD's ads are responsive to pressing pause in MX Player.

I have just seen your screenshot.
MX Player only uses banner ads. I don't think the script makes the problem. Some other apps triggering the pop up when its leave full screen mode.
Go to the setting >> Player >> Screen and change the full screen mode to ON instead of Auto switch.
In this way MX Player will be on the top. So, other apps can't trigger the pop ups.

Yes. You are right. The pop up triggered by java script. I have faced similar issue long ago & it was by the some other app which was running in background.
I just wanted to ensure that whether it's from MX or other apps. If the alert is triggered even in full screen mode, then definitely it will be from MX Player banner ad...
This is ridiculous, javascript bypass popup ads! What will they think of next?

Actually javascript cannot access any personal information because MX Player does not have such permission and javascript cannot run outside MX Player. What they can do is just displaying such scam message.
BTW, My ad agency is actually working on blocking javascript from banners.

FYI,
this ad was a reason I decided not to buy your software (I was about to do that, since it's pretty great player and I wanted to support you) and instead just installed an ad-block.
Thank your awesome ad agency. This crap somehow didn't happen with other ad-backed apps.

The songs list is grabbed from Billboard.com, which is one of the most credible sources in song popularity charts. Songs are then streamed from SoundCloud. Quite nice. Note: There are several of these on Play with more feeds, but awaiting more feeds here. UI is quite navigable.
Since the screen is quite sparse, used Xposed Appsettings to show more songs. Lower "DPI" and magnified font size to compensate so still readable. However, tab-bar now covers half of the title bar. So ... might suggest the number of songs/pane be adjustable and scaled within the app rather than from outside (anyone tried this using Paranoid's DPI settings?).
Might also embed a simple youtube player rather than rely on that app being around (since there are alternatives and many of us do not keep it).

My Opinion: Is pretty good as a discovery app, I'm having no errors luckily. A way for autoplaying the sections (playlist?) would be nice. I also backup the Deezer/Rdio/Spotify linking idea. Great job man! I like your app.
I'm having the same trouble like everyone else. And it can't play the YouTube video without a YouTube app.

Yes, it happens with a few songs because SoundCloud is not providing MP3s for them. I'm trying to fix this.
Next, I think I made a bad generalization that everyone will have the official YouTube app. I'll have to fix this one too.

WHOOPS:silly:I didn't see that and i too use xposed appsettings...but i keep my phone's default dpi at 145 then upscale systemui.apk and nova launcher to 160 . then its all ok but it cuts the actionbar text for only billy when i enable expanded mode

Fildo use Netease data, you could read about netease didn't work anymore... this is true but only in official apps because the block was set on application layer not in server one.

By the way ... right now... apk require api 16 (4.1+) but this is a mistake... today or tomorrow I will upload a new version with min sdk to 14
Unfortunately it doesn't work for me: I just can see Top Albums and Top artists, but when I try to search anything, it starts searching but results never appear. I will come back for sure in some weeks. (Nexus 5 6.0.1)

Wow, I didn't know that there were some problems with Netease servers, I tried with new version and it works. Obviously the development is just started and a lot of things still lack, but I'm sure it will be able to become an amazing app! :good:

What an awesome app! Been using it for almost a year now and has been awesome watching it get to where it is now. Some things I've noticed when using the app, and please realize that this is in the interests of helping, so if it's not appropriate, sorry in advance!
One thing that I have noticed after using the app is that often it pulls the artist image instead of album art with the music files, and often the tags aren't complete. Currently I use a tag editor to change them, however seeing this fixed would be an amazing addition in future.
Another awesome feature that I personally would really like to see in the app would be a "sync" for the added playlists from spotify and netease, even if it is just deleting the playlists and adding them again from the same link as per normal.
Once again I just have to say what you have developed is an amazing app, and I have a lot of respect for what you've created here, and criticism was in no way intended from this post. All the best for the future.

Another awesome feature that I personally would really like to see in the app would be a "sync" for the added playlists from spotify and netease, even if it is just deleting the playlists and adding them again from the same link as per normal.
Once again I just have to say what you have developed is an amazing app, and I have a lot of respect for what you've created here, and criticism was in no way intended from this post. All the best for the future.

I completly agree with you... Fixing album art covers will make it the best android music app...Lets hope he find a fix for this

Can someone advise me how do I import a Playlist from spotify? If I go to the link, he import it and direct me when it's finish to the fildo homepage. And now?
Songs download in sdcard0(Internal or main storage) instead of sdcard1(Sandisk external SD card)
I have serious issue with the storage now.Need to download 200+ songs.Faced no issue on Android 4.2.2.Enabling External option in fildo downloads songs in a new folder called mp3.fildo in the main storage(Main storage/Mp3.fildo....)And disabling the option also saves them in the main storage but this time in Main Storage/Downloads/Fildo Downloads

Thanks for your work, man.
The phone app works very good but unfortunately I can't say if the Android TV app works or not because I don't have an Android TV; I have tried to install it on Amazon Firestick but it does not seem to work (I always get an error saying "unauthorized request" when I try to launch the app).
I'm looking forward to having an app that works on firestick tv as well to provide a feedback.

Something happened and ads came back in the app. These are in live stream ads, which happens nowdays every 20 min or so, due to requirements for most of e-sport teams.
There is still no ads in VODs.
In desktop browser with uBlock there is still no ads in live stream, so I assume it should be still possible to filter them, they are not embedded in stream.

Yup I second this, I'm rooted with adaway and twitch ads are now getting through on livestreams recently haven't found a way yet to get rid of these ads
You need to ad a custom list in adaway to block ads in VODs and livestreams. Working fine here with newest twitch app.

Well it seems i am still getting ads on twitch on my shield with adaway even with that filter is on

Normal Blu. All other lists deleted. Not even one ad and i'm watching every day since several weeks. I got ads with the standard host list from adaway.
The android TV app works very good on Shield TV.

Having trouble with it on my TV with Android 6. If I run a stream with any resolutions higher than 360p, it will not fit the screen. On 1080p I can only see like 25% of it. I'm guessing it has to do something with dpi and that TV is 4k while Android runs at 1080. Any advice how to fix that? The version from Google play (ver. 2.8.3) crashes on startup with engine failed to load error.

same thing on a (rooted) fire stick 4k.
It has stopped working as good. Showing more ads
now it is not possible to login and an error code
