IMEI not verified. .

Hi,
I purchased my N8000 from dubai last week from airport. After reaching home, I went to www.imei.info and entered the imei # just to verify but web site tells me nothing rather a messae TO CONTACT YOUR SUPPLIER ... then I connect it with kies and kies recognised the n8000 and also came to my notice that my note is basically smuggled from IRAN though I purchased it from dubai.
So please tell me is it ok... and if i flash an another country rom e.g UK thru odin..
Would that create any issue in future...
Regards
Sent from my GT-N7100
Anyone from IRAN can able to verify imei number of their N8000 from www.imei.info ?
Sent from my GT-N7100
I am in Dubai and my N8000 doesn't show up on www.imei.info either. I just get a message saying "Not Found" - Nothing about Contacting supplier
Everything shows good in Kies. So how did it "come to your notice that your note is basically smuggled from IRAN" ?
Flashing another ROM such as UK should be fine, but will prevent further OTA updates because of CSC mismatch between the device and the firmware.
The 4.12 UAE ROM has been released and can be found at http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=8&view=10851
I would download that one and save it so that you can always revert to stock. Then flash what you want.

As far I understand kies only recognise the device if product code matches with csc... and my n8000 recognised by kies

Kies always recognises the device. It only shows it as updateable or official if the product code matches the CSC

If the HDSWVER codes match a firmware on the update server is the key .
Example I9300XXALF2/I9300OXAALF2/I9300XXLF2/I9300XXALF2 found in the registry current user samsung . Wrong HDSWVER code here then delete the key .
If non original firmware has been flashed then as said CSC Product code etc may not match .
Usual is Kies has no update as their is no update for that phone as people imagine updates are released wholesale .

Thanks mate... the web address given by you... verified the imei...
BTW thru serial number its also verified that my n8000 was destined for Iran and I also called a friend in dubai and his n8000 serial # also belongs to iran..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2088809
So its look like that the Iran shipment somehow ends up in Dubai..
Now I need to flash European Rom... would anybody recommend the best/stable 4.1.2 rom...
Thanks..

As you say, probably destined for Iran, but Samsung thought better of shipping to a country that is subject to lots of sanctions. Trust me, getting a bad name on one of those lists is a whole world of hurt. Coca Cola got blacklisted by not closing their plant in Somalia a few years ago - their still on it.
The UAE ROM contains the CSC for Iran (THR) so you wouldn't have to change it and do a factory reset

Newbie ? I'm sure...

Ok so I would like an unbranded ROM for my 1020 but when I put in my product code etc the only ROM I find is the standard one from my carrier, so how does one install an unbranded ROM and how do you know which one to use as they all seem linked to carriers? thanks

No you don't need root or unlock bootloader. It's from their website. Be case full though. The firmwares on the website look confusing. Don't flash wrong region firmware or for other model. You better download the packages from here. If you have doubt ask which one you need to download.
Thanks...how to know which region if not indicated in phone

*#*#2846579#*#* <---- type this in the dialer. You will get a Project menu. Tap on Network Information Query. Then Vendor Country info. If its meafnaf its middle east africa and north africa. I dont know about others but you can just type in the code in google and you will get to know the region.
Hope this helps.

Question S908N KTC to KOO

Hello fellows
So my issue is a bit long so sorry for that
I got this phone 3 days ago
S908N KTC Unlocked ( I live in Middle East and the SIM is working just fine )
I didn't know that this was a branded phone from KTC, I thought it was unbranded KOO
So right now I want to change the firmware to KOO to get rid of the KTC Boot animation and the KTC bloatware/settings
So how should I do that ? Just flash the KOO firmware using Odin? do I need to change csc? is that risky and may trigger Knox and block the phone ?
and after that can I just flash like the middle east firmware ?
Thank you in advance and sorry for taking too long
I'm attaching a screenshot of the CSC and software version of service provider
Use samkey. Pay for a key then change your csc using it

Yes, but some users already tried and it worked. I remember reading one or two days ago about exactly this...it says it is not supported but it works. I recall it was an Exynos device not SnapDragon but should work the same

I also have the s908N and want to maybe put a European CSC. Also have no idea how does that work with SAMKEY

Thanks for confirming
At least it appears possible to root it and maybe install a custom rom.
I assume that only the rom builders might be able to create a solution for the N version as an installation option in a rom.
However they might not be motivated due to the small number of people having the N versions. Unless of course a few of us agree to contribute in the form of a donation, then maybe a developer can play around and make it happen. What do you think?

well, I'm not really planning to root as this will trip knox.
Any news on changing KTC to KOO? I rooted SM-S908N, installed app Phone INFO+ Samsung, but don't see a way to change CSC. It just sees KTC region. Chimera Tool also gives info SM-S908N is not supported device. So, is there any way to get KOO or at least get rid of KTC Boot animation and the KTC bloatware/settings?

I successfully changed KTC to KOO using Shell exploit method mentioned in S22 thread.
Also, yeah without root and without triggering knox.

Question How To Request Firmware Files?

As the titles says: I'd like to request the firmware files for the Canadian variant from the Samsung Open Source website, as just about every other model has their firmware files uploaded and ready for download. Could somebody please give me some pointers on how to request said files, please? There are a lot of options that I can see leading to something fruitful, but I don't know which would submit the correct ticket.

Doubt that it's possible since North American models are bootloader locked and therefore don't benefit from open source

The USA version is up and downloadable. I've also spotted some A536W firmware files up for download on third-party websites (which seem to be reliable), but I just want to make sure I'm not getting files that've been tampered with in any way, I suppose
