Ok so never mind i got into teamwin TWRP phew. But Alpha2 but isn't it suggested that you don't recover using twrp? I don't know what to DO.

Download TWRP RC1 and flash it with TWRP alpha. Then download PN and follow the flashing instructions OR use your PC to flash back to stock and start over.
Edit: if you've made a backup using TWRP alpha, you can try to restore it using TWRP alpha.

I don't have ADB or USB debugging enabled on my device. I can't DO anything. And i go and mount my storage onto my PC it just shows a **** ton of folders with random letters and numbers. i can't copy any files onto the device nor will minimal ADB and fastboot work when i type adb devices to detect the device. i don't know what to do!

ADB debugging does not need to be enabled on the device. All fastboot commands will work when you're in bootloader.
The files/folders with random names are showing up because TWRP didn't decrypt properly, reboot TWRP until the files/folders show up properly on the device then the files will show up properly on your PC and enable you to transfer files.
What's the background here, were you running stock rooted or a custom ROM?

stock rooted with substratum installed. i had a substratum theme that worked for the most part perfectly fine but then i found orange kittens and the colored kittens addon to change the color to something i wanted people told me it would work just fine on the pixel 7.1 and when it rebooted BAM bootloop. i didn't have adb or usb debugging enabled when i did it and i wasn't thinking because i've done this kinda stuff in the past so i thought i'd be fine. but i guess i wans't.

I GOT ACCESS TO MY FILES AGAIN! I THINK I CAN MOVE STUFF OVER TO IT PERFECTLY NOW! Oh so could i just copy over the stock 7.1 zip flash it with twrp and i'll be set? or should i just flash the latest OTA update image? and whichever i have to do do i do it using the install option or do i do it using the advanced ADB sideload?
also what is PN? i'm confused by that one.

ok, bootloop form theme. After TWRP has successfully decrypted, this might take a few reboots.. Go to sd card, you will see a folder named Substratum, in there are two zip files, flash the SubstratumRescue_Legacy.zip then reboot.
IF that does not work, go back into TWRP and go to mount - system. back out and go to advanced - file manager navigate to /system/vendor/overlay and delete the entire folder. Ive done that only once on the Pixel, you might have to go to /system/system/vendor/overlay and delete the folder then reboot.

That is interesting, my first experience with the Pixel I had bought it close to when Best Buy was closing (they were offering the $10.00/month promotion) and the device had not finished updating. However, the person checking me out let me go before it had completely finished and said it "will finish the updates shortly and be usable". Well, i guess in his haste to get blackout drunk and attempt lame pick up lines, he did something wrong. After the update finished, The phone was stuck in a constant boot loop. My first experience with my beloved Pixel was a nightmare. Of course, I had it replaced with a new one in the store the next day, but it was very strange. I had not even got into the OS at all and it was stuck in this strange bootloop.
Glad your situation worked out, when I saw the title to this post my heart sunk a little bit because I certainly know the look.

ZOMG it rebooted! i already did a restore so i have to set up my phone again in terms of apps and stuff but that's fine. but now it keeps saying android.process.acore keeps stopping. i'm assuming it has to do with the substratum theme and i guess that means i should just delete that folder huh?

How did you restore? I've never seen that process stop before.
It might be best to (since you have to set up your apps again) flash a factory image and start over.

And if your going to be playing with themes.. PN is the way to go. PN is Pure Nexus rom. Follow the instructions word for word and you won't have any troubles. It is as stable as stock with some extra goodness baked in.

oh i did a quick cache and data wipe. it's what you're supposed to do when flashing new or updated roms in the first place. at the top right of TWRP it says wipe. i thought that would restore it back to default settings including substratum theme application but it seems all it did was set me back to stock settings with apps uninstalled lol. gotta set up my device again sadly. but now like i said now i keep getting this stupid android.process..acore keeps crashing error.
and i restored using the legacy zip you told me to use in the substratum folder using the install option at the top left.
Just hit the thanks button. ?

It would remove TWRP, but after the flash-all.bat is done.. set up your phone. Reboot to bootloader, fastboot boot TWRP install TWRP via zip and flash super su.
Then going forward to update every month, download the newest factory image, right click on the flash-all.bat click edit, scroll over and remove the -w. Then boot into bootloader and run the flash-all.bat, when it's done your still in bootloader, fastboot boot TWRP, flash TWRP zip and flash super su. Reboot.

Hello, i recently installed the new official lollipop 5.0 android, however it was working like crap so i decided to change with custom firmware.
Heres what i did.
Unlock bootloader
install custom recovery
root with super SU
install custom rom.
It worked, and android started up, however, i cant connect to cellular network anymore, i waited like 10 minute to detect it but it wont, then i tried a different rom, didnt help. Did i bricked my phone? Is there anything to do?
Im with Virgin canada
Thanks
Can you access the bootloader? If yes, then you did not brick it. You probably didn't completely wipe the stock ROM before you flashed the custom one. Also, not a good idea to flash SuperSU before flashing your ROM.
Everything is working has usual, except i cant connect to LTE anymore. I flashed TWRP instead of Clockwork recovery, ill try again with this one...
From where you are now with TWRP installed:
1. In TWRP, go to "Wipe" then go into the advanced wipe options and wipe every partition except the internal storage.
2. Flash ROM.
3. Flash Gapps if needed.

Push the ROM zip file to your phone from within TWRP, don't sideload it. You shouldn't even need to do that though. TWRP now supports MTP so your internal storage should appear when you connect the phone to the PC when you're in TWRP.
So you went from having possible APN issues to completely wiping your device? Slow down before you actually do brick it. Read the stickies. All the info you need is already here.

And about that TWRP issue...not too sure. That could be the recovery_from_boot.p file restoring the stock recovery. Are you seeing an android with a red exclamation point?

Nope no red exclamation point, when i choose recovery mode, the Google boot screen appear, then the Teamwin logo appear for a few second, then screen goes black and then google logo is back, and finnaly android boot up...

Hello, i'm a bit in trouble with my internal storage.
Yesterday i wanted to update to newest havoc os so i prepared as usual and wiped system and data under advanced wipe in TWRP ( twrp-3.2.3-0-enchilada(mtp) from joemossjr ).
Then things went strange... op6 reboots itself and since there was no system installed got stuck. i rebooted to TWRP and it started like first time install.
I wanted to do the TWRP Setup but TWRP freezes everytime and after some seconds the device reboots.
I tried different TWRP (joemossjr, eng.stck), tried flashing manually with fastboot flash boot_a twrp.img fastboot flash boot_b twrp.img and even with Tool All In One from mauronofrio
but only recovery that doesn't freeze is newest official TWRP 3.2.3.0.
But now i can't get access to my internal storage. The TWRP filemanager and adb shell are showing weird folders ( see attached jpg ).
It seems something is corrupted... i also tried to flash stock op6 rom in fastboot "OnePlus6Oxygen_22_OTA_015_all_1808102118_770880-FASTBOOT" with flash-all-partitions-fastboot.bat.
Seems to work but got stuck at bootanimation...
flashed back official TWRP and i think i have to install magisk now but don't know how to do because i have no access to my internal storage.
at this point i wish they would have included a sdcard slot
suggestion anyone?
It's not corrupted, but it's encrypted, when you flashed the havoc rom you kinda ****ed up with the encryption method so now you got files that are encrypted and that you can't decryp, so your solution is to format your internal storage, sorry for you, and if anyone have another solution i would take it
do an adb sideload for magisk zip , that should help
adb sideload sadly doesn't work, just "Starting ADB Sideload feature" ...
and on cmd when i try to adb sideload i got an "error: closed"
can't figure out why the files should be encrypted... makes no sense to me
now i flashed flash-system-boot-vendor.bat
phone boots till startup wizard and then after few seconds freeze and reboot

Format data. Problem fixed. This is the ONLY SOLUTION that will work.
Yup, you need to format the data and start all clean and i hope you did a full twrp backup
yes i do always make a backup before flashing something... my problem is i don't have access to files on internal storage.
Data partition is not my problem because all my apps are stored with titanium backup but in the freaking internal memory.
i wiped data partition but it doesnt help... now i have all folders like after complete reset. but i dont know how to get access to my old files in /sdcard folder.
i think of deleting internal storage also and start from scratch and try some data recovery tools... maybe i have some luck.
use Tool all in one

Did you ever actually try to flash the Havoc update? What's going on is that you flashed a rom on the August security patch and OOS is still on July. You can't roll back to an earlier patch. Only a rom on the current patch will work.
If it doesn't work, as several have said, you have to format data, not just wipe. That will unfortunately, erase everything on your phone, but there's no other way to go back to OOS.
ok iElvis... things start getting interesting
hmm i want to try that but how should i be able to do that...
how does it work flashing the havoc with all in one tool or could it be done in fastboot mode per cmd?
the phone came with oos 5.1.5 and used that a while then with xXx NoLimits 2.4 over it for a few weeks.
after that havoc os from 6.8.18 for a month or so and i want that as daily driver.
then yesterday updated with fresh install to version from 28.8.18 and setup everything then after reboot wifi was complete dead and SIM also.
flashed newest smurf kernel over and all worked again till next reboot.
i decided to install again from scratch and thats the point where things getting weird...

Yep, that's the security patch issue. Once you're on a patch, going back to an earlier one will break encryption. I don't believe there's any other option beyond formatting data.

This was happens every day after when i try to mod my device.
When i see weired Folder. I boot to fastboot then flash fastboot twrp. Img.(this will shows all folders with normal names)
Then flash liquid remix rom(its my saviour)
Then flash twrp.Installer.
Then reboot to Recovery and restore my liquid rom backup and boom its boot to everything normal.
Here i want to say that keep one liquidremix rom in otg pendrive.
After fastboot twrp command when u gets working twrp.
Install that rom via otg, and flash twrp installer and then reboot back to twrp and then clean flash rom u want it will work without doing formatting or fastboot flashing stock rom which erase everything everytime
@ whizeguy... did that as mentioned before and gave me the freeze after first time reboot
@ pankspoo... ok i cant understand what is causing this issue but if you say that did the trick for you than i will buy me a otg adapter and check that out.

Fastboot method of installing rom will work 100%, have u used flash all. Bat (just unzip ur downloaded fastboot rom, connect phone to comp in fastboot mode and click on flash all bat file) command while installation.
Use that command because u have soft bricked u r device.
That installation will boot to normal oos rom.
I think u r doing something wrong.
Hmm thats exactly what i did.
In cmd there are some errors like sparse blabla but finally it completes but with freeze and reboots during startup assistent.
I bought an otg adapter today. Flashed liquid remix and that worked! All seems fine no freezes and reboots but wifi and signal still broken...
Very confusing

Can you correct me if I'm wrong. So once I finish this process. I can go in and out of recovery with out computer. Also Then I can put apps directly into priv system with correct read and write, plus it will stick on reboots. Just wondering to .If this means I can flash custom kernals and roms with no worries other than normal issues. Thanks for your work.
Thank you so much for this!

Are u on stock with root I got easy solution for u to follow if fstab guide above is to hard
Hey skullkid383, thankyou for your work on this!! Twrp flashed and works NP. But I cannot decrypt. Following steps, the step you mount before pushing in twrp adb does not work, no such folder. The push goes thru fine although the mount did not. Format data worked, I can see internal storage and move things to and from PC through tether. But when I reboot its sticks on moto screen. When I flash back to patched boot for magisk the is boots to an "decryption unsuccessful" msg and asks me to reset the phone endlessly. Any help pls?

1st make a backup just in case:
Ok here we go flash twrp and magisk beta then patched boot.img boot system get a file explorer with root permissions edit fstab.qcom find it here: /vendor/etc.
just replace current one with one I'm uploading
in guide to make easier to find wipe then u should be good of course flash magisk beta after u wipe as well
Hmm still decryption unsuccessful. About to reflash to stock. Sorry for the slow response. I have the next several hours free to test. I don't have an SD card, so i rooted the old way, using your patched boot, then used es file explorer to replace fstab, rebooted to confirm, and fstabs permissions had changed from rw r r to rw rw so it stuck. once I format data and internal becomes visible I move magisk over, flash then reboot and get dencryption unsuccessful. Also even flashing the recovery before formatting resulted in it being lost every reboot, only after format data it stuck.

Ok I am going to build new one in awhile my PC screen broke idk when but until then the link to Hannah twrp is down till I fix it
Ah man, so instead of fastboot flashing everything back to stock, I figured I'd just flash stock recovery back, after the decryption unsuccessful route. Flashed stock recovery, when it booted and asked me to reset the phone instead of going to twrp this time it went to the stock recovery image of a reset...phone booted, got to looking around and holy crap I'm decrypted! flashed your twrp and now I'm rooted with twrp and decrypted!! So maybe boot twrp the first time when formatting data and decrypting so when you boot and the device asks you to reset because of decryption failure it can use stock recovery to complete the process, then flash twrp for the finish? Your incredibly helpful man, again thankyou for all of your efforts and work on this!!
Still wanna fix twrp found a issue in formatting data I wanna fix but it shall take some time to get it done link is down til then cause it's something that needs fixed first before I put it back up
Ok. I am not a developer. I am a teenager just messing around with my phone. Basically, the whole story is that I tried updating my ota while keeping root and twrp right and i was following the video. everything was going smoothily until i got back and for some reason my magisk couldn't set up correctly. I twas there but it wasn't setting up the files and whatnot. So i restarted and got into twrp recovery. Based on some xda forums and threads and a few youtube videos I gifured out that my twrp couldn't detect ANTHING on my phone's internal storage. SO i ended up formatting the data and when i tried rebooting the system it didn't boot up it just brought me straight back to twrp. PLS HELP. Thank you.
someone who is super knowledgeable would be greatly appreciated. This phone means a lot to me and I don't want it to break! PLS! thanks again.

If not just do the msm restore i know its frustrating but you have to do a lot of reading research you can restore your phone
I think it's best you flash a fastboot ROM since you have already lost all your data.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/how-to/rom-stock-fastboot-roms-oneplus-7-pro-t3931424
Calm down, have a cup of coffee, charge your phone for a bit and then follow this guide. Good luck.
EDIT: Important to note that you can hold down vol + and vol - immediately when booting to get into fastboot
Try to format Data in twrp, not the factory reset or data wipe, the one where u type yes, then reboot back to twrp and see if you can mount data. If all else fails use the msm tool

I would try what the above poster said and use the fastboot Rom first. What model device do u have?
Use MSM download tool to restore your phone.
As advised previously, I would download the latest Fastboot pack from this thread. Unpack the zip file and then use the batch files to install the partitions you want. I would recommend the flash-all one.
After that, I would recommend buying similar items to the following :
USB C to USB 3.0 Male Adapter
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07KXHNY5F
SanDisk Ultra USB Type-C 16 GB
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01BUSMYHC
This will let you hold the files required for fixing your issues on a usb drive which you can use with your phone, the interface is for using the same with your computer to transfer the files. If you keep the usb drive with you then you should be able to resolve issues as long as you can get TWRP installed.
TWRP will allow you load/flash files from the usb drive, just tap on the "Storage" button and you'll see the USB storage as an option. Make sure anything you want is in the "Android" folder on the drive.
I would definitely recommend downloading TWRP, Magisk v20 and the full latest release of OOS and keeping these on the drive, then you know you have a route back to a working phone.
For future reference, if you root your phone you cannot install an OTA, you must install the full zip.
Also, if you flash TWRP, you have to install Magisk afterward to retain root privileges.

by fastboot rom is that just the bootloader? because as of now that still works i just don't know ho to use it. only twrp recovery isn't working and its really stressing meeee. does that mean i can flash things via the bootloader mode or whatever its called; fastboot? thx for the help its relieving my stress. im just happy that my phone isnt bricked. also my bootloader IS unlocked so i think that helps. i look forward to ur response!
This phone is quite troublesome to flash lol I had problems aswell, bricked 3/4 times! I used msm tool to recover It.
I figured out how things works after multiple Bad results.
I think things are getting more complicated year After year

I mean thats learning by doing and everyone did that ( I struggled with OP6), but if you get behind this whole a/b scheme and understand what does what and when to flash it you wont brick anything (unless you try pre alpha recoveries and the recovery fails).
So i think the best option is to either stay stock (stock is nearly perfect rn, just if you need magisk install it) or to "learn" how to resolve some issues youll get when flashing custom roms
the worst thing you can do is to just follow some guides and wonder if something fails
Hello everyone,
As I mentioned in the title, since I upgraded to Android 10, can't boot to recovery.
Dowloaded latest version of the Adb kit, and while issuing
adb reboot recovery
the phone reboots but goes to normal boot.
Tried manually (power + vol down etc.) and when choosing Recovery - same thing happens.
Needless to say that my laptop is authorized debug device and phone is in debug mode etc. - I have done this many times before Android 10 update.
All I try to do is to sideload the latest OTA as I did many times before because my phone is rooted and the updates do not install automatically.
Pixel (First generation)
Rooted with Magisk
Bootloader unlocked
Stock recovery (using TWRP without installing it when flashing Magisk)
Hope somebody can advise. Obviously there is something new in Android 10 which has to be set (like the need for debugging authorization for example, which I already did).
Thank you
John
Im getting a similar problem. I get stuck on th Google logo screen. I cant hard-reset, recovery mode or boot, the only things that works is th barcode.
Android 10 changed something in the ramdisk that you can't install TWRP directly on the phone. You have to boot it via PC using "fastboot boot <insert twrp image name>.img"
You can try installing twrp to ramdisk. Put twrp 3.3.1-0.img in your devices storage and then fastboot twrp 3.3.0-0 (disable pin etc first) then once it's booted go to advanced and select install to ramdisk and select the 3.3.1-0.img and it should install it. You may get a not enough storage error on 10/Q (I did) bit worth a punt. Make a back up first as usual, if no good flash a fresh factory.img and see if that cures it and then restore your apps/data etcfrom your Google back up (if you use it)
Good luck

Thank you for the advice, however as I mentioned in my original post I don't want to install TWRP permanently , and the problem is that I cannot go to the stock recovery mode which has no connection to TWRP. There is something with Android 10 which changed since 9 and I'm interested to find what. Everything worked fine before the upgrade.
Also, the option to flash factory image and restore (I also have Titanium in addition to Google backup) is a too much of a hassle. I use this phone for real, not only to play with it.
Anyway, again thank you for your input.
John
Sorry mate, re read your OP. I just tried booting into the aosp recovery and got the same issue! My guess is its magisk as I could boot into the aosp recovery prior to installing it. Re flash or restore the previous boot.img or a stock boot.img and it should boot into aosp recovery again. Magisk must be installing to or patching the aosp recovery ramdisk and stopping it booting. Other than that just fastboot twrp and use that.
Edit: it's magisk, restored original images and it booted into aosp recovery first try.
I've had no problems installing TWRP 3.3.0.0 normally after using an *.img file to get TWRP started. EDIT: and booting into it.

You are right. I did open Magisk and from the uninstall options choosed "Restore images" (no need to do complete uninstall, which is the other option). After that I was able to boot in recovery etc. I guess this is what you meant in your PS. At the end re-flashed Magisk and all is back to normal.
I will alert the Magisk team about the issue (if they are not already aware).
Case closed.
Thanks again.

It is a mess. It works with Pixel (I have this one and can confirm) and supposedly Pixel 2. It won't work for brand new phones arriving with factory installed Android 10.
Read the following:
https://twrp.me/site/update/2019/10/23/twrp-and-android-10.html#
After that, if you want to try, go to the page below to find instructions for your device. Note that the list is by manufacturer, so if you are looking for Pixel, it is under Google.
https://twrp.me/Devices/
Just in case - backup and have the factory image for your phone handy in case something goes wrong. For google phones you can download the image and see instructions here:
https://developers.google.com/android/images
Note that I never installed TWRP permanently, so I can't say if the permanent installation will work (I think it should, but not sure). Typically I just load TWRP and use it to flash pakages, but at the end I'm keeping the stock recovery.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

Thanks. Yea from what I can tell no one has had luck actually installing it on the Pixel with Android 10 yet. I'm familiar with how to fix everything if something goes wrong. I would try but others have already tried and failed. It won't install for them.
firstly, dont use whatever ****ty platform-tools you are using, get them from here.
secondly, you dont install recovery on android 10 yet, it doenst work. you have to just boot to twrp using `fastboot boot twrp.img` once you are in bootloader mode.
