Hello everyone.
I cannot find any answer to my problem.
I am trying to flash my Sony Xperia XA with Flashtool (and the embedded Xperifirm software) v. 0.9.23.2 (thanks to the developpers by the way :good. I successfully the firmware I want through Xperifirm but flashtool cannot create the .ftf.torrent file required at some point. The log tells me: "ERROR - C:\Users\XXXXX\.flashTool\firmwares\F311_33.2.A.3.105_1302-449_R8A.ftf.torrent (Access is denied)"
Everything else before that went fine according to the log.
I tried to modify the security setup of my folders but it doesn't make any difference.
Does anyone has had this issue before ? And maybe knows how to resolve it ?
Thanks in advance for any help you can bring me.
Regards,
Basil1402
Just one detail: I tried with aonther firmware and got the same issue.
It is not related to the firmware then.

You need to unlock bootloader and/or root the device probably.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
IMHO, it is very unlikely.
It doesn't seem to be related to the device (at this step, it does'nt have to be connected !). It's more software related.
I don't really know what to do to solve this issue.
Yet, I read in a flashtool tutorial (I read so many, I don't remember which) that the torrent creation is just to share the firmware that is created by flashtool with the community. Therefore, if there is an issue at this step, it may cause any problem to the firmware that is created. I just cannot share it with you. As far as I understand...

Hi
Thanks for responding in the first place.
First can you check with motocast(on your computer) if it see's the update.
If so please install Process monitor.
Next launch process monitor, then launch the setup until it would actually uprade your device.
Next save the trace. From this trace you can find out which files (temp files)the setup creates and hopefully extract the update or fasboot files.
If you have root on your phone you can open a terminal and do a "find / -name *.zip" and post the results here.
Probably there will be something like ota.zip on your device.
I think It will be in /cache or /misc I guess.
Next you can copy this file to your mass storage and after that to your computer.
If you could upload that file to somewhere and post a link that should be great.
Please also post which version of the MZ608 you have(via about) you should find something like the following things:
1.6.0M-272.12_MZ608_p2HW_BlurRegion02 latam
Thanks in advance

Basic Tools, Knowlage & Files You Will Need
Ok lets begin i have been asked quite a few times so here it is. These are the basic tools files etc. you will need. I will write an brife explanation of what these tools, files are for and what they can do and installation instructions.
7Z.used to extract zip file contents used mainly to compress data files to save space and time uploading & downloading find it here: http://www.7-zip.org/download.html
Winrar
Used also to extract zips but also rar & tar files download from this link: http://www.win-rar.com/download.html?&L=0
Flashtool
Flashtool was created by Bin4ry & Androxide legends around here it is used to do various things the main reason you will probably use it for is recovering from a brick The Main uses are flashing flashing stock firmware that come in ftf file format (which stands for "flash tool file") kernels can come in this format to and are flashed using "flashmode" enterd by holding down the volume down key while connecting the usb cable when you see a green led that indicates "flashmode". Flashing custom kernels these normally come in .img format (which is an image file) and require an unlocked bootloader. Sony lock there bootloaders to protect their DRM key which are security key for media apps like track-id & facebook inside xperia. Custom kernels are needed for custom roms like Cyanogenmod, AOSP, & AOKP A custom recovery can come in this format to to flash .img files we use "fastboot" for this (which is enterd by turning off phone and holding volume up key while connecting usb cable a blue led will indicate your in fastbootmode then click on the lightning bolt on flastool and select fastboot mode to open the fastboot toolbox) These ate the basic operations you need tho know...
download flashtool from the flash tool home at: http://androxyde.github.io/index.html?1350585408000
Installation
download flashtool from link if its in a zip format extract with 7z. You will get a flashtool launcher double click and follow the on screen instructions then reboot you pc/laptop.
Driver Installation next we need to install the flash tool drivers Tipo/Dule/Miro/J/E dont have the drivers in the package so you will have to download them separate do a search get use to that you will be doing a lot of it when you have found and downloaded the flashtool drivers extract the zip with 7z. you will get an FTD file (flashtool driver file) copy and past it in the flashtool sub folder devices (to get to flashtool folder right click on start menu then click on expolore you will see all the files on your computer find and click on flashtool you will see more sub folders we want the devices folder) after you have pasted it there exit to desktop start flashtool and click the devices tab then import a window will pop up with you device click ok then it will import you devce drivers when its finished your done flashtool is all set up congratulations!
FTF Files
Ok ftf files are the bundled parts of the Sony stock firmware created buy someone through flashtool & SUS (sony update service) mainly used to recover from a soft brick or if you have unlocked your bootloader then it will be the only means you can update stock firmware as sony will not let you officialy update your phone as they will class it as modified. when downloaded it would probably be in a zip file (se 7z. is coming in handy ) Then start flashtool and drag the extracted ftf file into the flashtool window (the big white box) click ok and files will begin to prepare. when they are raedy a window will popup with a phone and a usb cable on it this is telling you to connect a phone in flashmode do by holding the volume down key while connecting the usb to your phone (keep hold of volume down until flashin process starts) when its all finished reboot there you have it you flashed a firmware. You can flash between platforms like Gingerbread to ICS or Jelly bean to ics.
Find all the ftf firmware files here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2385526 and make sure you thank the member for making the thread by pressing the Thanks button
Rooting Your Phone
Rooting your phone is hacking in to the software to gain access to the root system files hence the term "ROOTING". This allows you to modify your phone install apps that require root permitions, run performance tweaks and flash custom firmware.
Root ICS
There are several methods but unlockroot roots all ICS Roms Link: http://www.unlockroot.com/download.html
Root Jelly Bean
To root Jelly Bean 11.2.A.0.21, .31,.33 Firmware's http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=23 and thank the great and powerful DoomLord
Clockworkmod Recovery
Clockworkmod recovery All so known as (CWM) was developed by Koushik Dutta (Koush), a well-known name in the Android development community. It is a custom recovery that backs up and restores android roms exactly how you left it at the time of the backup. It also is used to flash CWM flashable zips like mods apps or even an entire firmware. CWM has not been ported to our device running jelly bean only ICS there are 2 but the best one is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2003069
For CWM on jellbean look a this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2333078
I think thats it to get you started fellow xperia users hopefully i will change or add things when needed or when new things are released happy modifying and

[Q] Any changes if you're rooting on a mac?
Hiya,
great tutorial -- im a total newcomer and have been reading (what seems like) hundreds of pages on this site for the last few days, trying to learn how to root my phone. i think i have it the process mostly down, but the one thing i'm not quite sure about is doing everything on a mac.
my phone (arriving in a few days) -- xperia E (C1504 version) i have a 32g sd card from my current phone that i will probably re-use (unless this isn't advisable?) as i understand it, i'll have to unlock the bootloader first, then root the phone. my plan is to just remove the sony bloatware, install a fairly vanilla rom, and make the cpu/battery run more efficiently. was thinking about the vengeance kernel, too.
ive read through a few mac-specific threads, but was wondering if you (or anyone else) might be able to point me in the right direction when it comes to doing all of the above on a mac.
many thanks,
mei

hi
Ok I've tried to find answers online myself and in this forum and getting more confused instead of getting my issues sorted. I've got a sony xperia e C1505 and I want to get rid of the bloatware on it. To do that i know it needs rooted. I've downloaded framaoot ( i know this will sound very clueless but not sure what version, the file name extends off the screen and i had a couple of versions at one point as i was having difficulty installing them via the pc, kept getting parsing errors)
The one I have has the option to install superSU which I've left and both Aragorn and Gandalfexploits. I keep getting error #7. I placed the apk file from my pc onto my phone in the sd card so not sure what the issue would be. I tried the oldest and newest apk files from the xda thread about rooting using framaroot but had parsing errors.
Can anyone give me a bit of advice? It seems like a really simple thing to do in theory just not in practice and it's getting really frustrating that I dont knw how to resolve the errors on framaroot..
thanks

Hi All,
I decided to flash JB firmware to my old device and give it to my son. Now device has GB version.
I found topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/general/rom-cyanogenmod-10-official-nightly-t1794758 which presumable should help me with that by encountered few problems:
1. The first advice is: Make sure you're running a proper working ClockworkMod-Recovery.
I went to appropriate topic (DANGER!!!): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118693, which refers to http://d-h.st/pQK but downloaded ace-archive contains virus. I killed the virus eventually, but wondering how is that possible that XDA references something with virus inside?
Question #1: should I still try to download ClockworkMod-Recovery from the referenced topic? Today I tried that again, but ace archive still contains a very suspicious exe... and I'm afraid, that is still virus.
2. Further advice is: Copy GApps and CM10 ZIPs to your internal SDCard
Where can I get CM10? In the original topic there is only reference to the nightly guild of CM10. Should I try it? Is there more reliable build?
Another topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-j-e/orig-development/miro-tipo-j-edevelopment-cm10-t1997251 doesn't have any reference to download.
Question #2: Where can I download CM10 and other gapps?
Question #3: Where can I get firmware itself? I could not see any WORKING reference in the original topic. Please advise.
Thanks a lot!

Was not able to find CM10 on cyanogenmod site, only ROMs.
I want also to update community that I was able to update the firmware on my device.
The most important things which helped me to do are below. Hopefully they will help somebody else.
1. The very basic part of device (at least of Galaxy SII) is "Download mode" accessible via "VolumeDown+Home+Power". This mode literally unbreakable and your safety net if anything goes wrong. Via this mode you are able to upload "Recovery software". To do this you need Odin and recovery SW itself. I used Odin 3.04 and CWM-KitKatCompatible-i9100.tar
2. Recovery mode is SW which allows to upload ROM. To use it one should upload zip with FW (firmware) to SD card and using recovery mode SW install it. Usually, people upload ROM when their device is fully functional. In my case (I broke it before I uploaded FW) I pushed fw via ADB (which is working in recovery mode). Command line: adb push "file_with_FW" /sdcard/storage0 - worked for me
3. Also makes sense to install google apps (set of apps from google which will make other programs work better). Trivial thing after you manage items 1 and 2.
Good luck!
Hi guys
I am sorry that my post is maybe very short but the original one was messed up by the system
So now I try it again and with a short version...
At first:
Thanks for help (a "flashing triple-noob") on xda . I found so many informations (also before with other problems) and this was way beyond "help"-all of you get a great "thumbs up"!
And so far-the only experience in flashing was on my Xperia Z1 (de-brand) and it was quite easy but now it seems....uhmmmm....
So now go to my questions:
(hint: I want to use the stock FW no custom)
1.)
Anybody know the differences between the firmware version (no, I dont mean fingerprint ) of "Customized Hong Kong" and "CE1" for XZP Premium G8142?
Depends on the answer of this question maybe the next two dont need an answer
2.)
Question for newflasher:
I found and read many informations about flashing the FW but I getting more confused with more information!?
If I use newflasher the normal guide for that was veryyyy easy. And also at the moment newflasher is the only application for the XZ so > no other choice
But on the other side some user mentioned the following things:
-newflasher doesnt do a "full flash", something/files will be incomplete (means what? somebody have issues after flash?)
-delete parts of the files (like "things dont need" or "the partion folder")
-create partition folder (?)
So what is right and what is wrong?
Do I need to follow the easy tutorial or do I need to customize depends what happens during the flash?
3.)
Question for flashtool:
I know that currently flashtool doesnt support the XZP (still right?) even if its mentioned under "supported devices".
Also found (the generally) information that it isnt necessary to unlock the bootloader for flash a stock rom.
Now in flashtool description everybody can read: "...can only be used by Xperia™ devices having an unlocked boot loader..."???
But for unlock it needs to save the DRM keys before...and for this needs root.
But for root it needs to unlock the BL before...and this will erase the DRM keys before can save them.
So even if flashtool works on XZP the keys will be always lost?
Uhmm what I get wrong?
So thats my questions and I hope I can get some answers.
Because for the decision about the next device the XZP always comes back after compare with others (even it has a hybrid sim tray).
Thanks for help
Launch Flashtool/XperiFirm and download the fw you want. Either Nougat or Oreo.
Go into the fw folder, copy all the newflasher files and simply drop them into the fw folder, connect your phone in flashmode and doubleclick newflasher.exe
Wait until it has completed flashing and that's it!
IF you want to upgrade your fw later on without losing data, then you would have to delete some files yes, but for now just let everything be.

Anybody know the differences between the firmware version (no, I dont mean fingerprint ) of "Customized Hong Kong" and "CE1" for XZP Premium G8142?

There's not really any difference, just go with what you want and it will be fine.

-newflasher doesnt do a "full flash", something/files will be incomplete (means what? somebody have issues after flash?)
Click to collapse
It does a proper flash if you leave the files intact.

-delete parts of the files (like "things dont need" or "the partion folder")

Only delete certain files if you want to upgrade your fw without losing data.

You can flash without unlocking bootloader, don't worry.

Sounds good and exactly the things I found first. Later (after tons of information from xda) the questions comes up. But now - seems the way it works :good:

Nice to know-so I can buy a randomly choosed XZP and the FW I want (at the moment all devices here dont have any google content in the FW) can be flashed afterwards

No you use newflasher, Flashtool doesn't work with XZP.
So with newflasher you are meant to extract the partition.zip and put the contents in a partition folder in the same directory as the other files downloaded through XperiFirm right? If that's the case then how did I manage to update from Nougat to Oreo when I deleted the partition.zip file without extracting it and flashed the update?
