Rocket/Speed button really works....But what is it??? - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

Ok so I have found that if I press the rocket button straight after MTCD unit boots up it solves all my speed issues straight away and unit becomes so smooth.
So my question is what process or App is this little beauty tied to as I want to set up a tasker profile to auto run it during every start
Thanks

It is just a task killer... Nothing more, nothing less.
Unfortunately I don't know the exact process.

Yes it's a task killer which frees up system memory to restore lag due to inadequate memory. Consider upgrade to 2gb with RAM swap.

Can someone tell me why android doesn't close apps?

honestly i find this really annoying, especially to the average person tha doesn't think to go download a task manager and kill everything after doing anything on the phone so your battery lasts more than 6 hours.
here's a simple logic i'd like to use.
if you use the "back" button to exit an application, kill it.
if you use the "home" button to leave an application, don't kill it until you go back to it and use "back" to exit. or kill it with a task manager.
like why hasn't someone implemented this? close or minimize its as simple as that people. i really hope the android developers listen to me on this one.
im sure nobody would be happy if microsoft came out with an update that disabled the X and you could only minimize applications or kill them with the task manager. come on. thats why i'm not totally satisfied with android yet.

How else would you have multi-tasking? Most of the stuff I use, I would rather it not close just because I had to check my calendar, or reply to a text.
just hit the home button to minimize it. hit back to close it. select the app again after minimizing it to open it again. simple. or if you're worried about having to go find the app again, just have the app minimize to the notification area. but personally, i'd just close everything and go back to it
.
that is a good idea should shoot google an e-mail. but its be diffrent from phone to phone as not all are the same(while most do have a home button)
I like what Dolphin Browser does, how if you hold back (as opposed to just clicking it) you close the application. I think that would work great if implemented universally.
well then could someone create an app that for all applications, holding back will actually kill the app?

Being able to multitask has nothing to do with having the ability to close the application I don't need running anymore.
how abt remapping that search button that i rarely ever use to close an application. that sounds more plausible, then we can leave the back and home button the way they are (sometimes, u just want to go back, not close an app)

Dude, no one has to write an application for that. There are a lot of applications in the Market that can KILL running apps on your phone. A few examples:
- Free Advanced Task Manager (also has a Widget that requires a single press to end running/useless apps)
- Task Manager
- Advanced Task Killer Free
- Automatic Task Killer
...and MANY MANY MANY MANY MORE! It will take a day to review them all and find the one you like the best. That MANY!
And what you really wanted to say is that the developers SHOULD implement an EXIT function in the application (some have it). If the user doesn't want for the application to run anymore, will use the EXIT function! Simple as that
If someone doesn't like multi-tasking, can always get one of those EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE AND USELESS iPhones
like i said, it'd be really annoying to have no X button on the top right of every window, and the only way to exit something would be to open the task manager. and potentially kill something that's keeping track of something.
i am aware of all the apps. its just really annoying. every time i do something i go and find the task bar and kill everything.
by the way when i said back should close the app, i meant the back button still acts as the back button until it goes back to the desktop. then when it goes back to the desktop it closes it.
i like this, cuz normally the apps that i dont need anymore stay open and overtime make my phone slow and drains my battery, and i hate using taskiller cuz im using sense ui and taskiller kills everything meaning that i have to reboot the sense ui which takes a minute or two and itz annoying to go to taskiller and kill the apps one by one...

you need to set your exceptions in your task manager
On Android, when you use back or home to exit an application that application goes to "sleep" mode. That means it doesn't use processor and/or battery power.
There are a few exeptions of course, the calendar, mail, alarm clock, music (if you listen to music). These have to run in the backround to function correctly. If you kill the alarm application then your alarm won't go in the morning, etc...

Solution: Music quiting after two minutes...

So I saw awhile ago that someone posted about their music player quiting after a few minutes and my phone started doing it too. So I downloaded the free winamp app and it worked for awhile and then started shutting down too. So today I realized that I had added those apps to the auto-end list and that was causing the problem.
So for anyone else who has these problem make sure you check your auto-end list
(Love my phone but I still wish it had a more detailed owners manual lol)

auto-end? like a Task killer?
Froyo doesn't need 'em. It know's when to hold 'em, knows when to fold 'em...and knows when to keep them stored in memory so it doesn't have to think very hard when you want to bring that same app back into the foreground. lol
No, I quickly learned that task killers are stupid/useless. I'm talkin about the native task manager, in which you can add apps to the 'auto-end' list so the phone automatically shuts em down after a period of inactivity

ok, right on!
What if this is happening, but it's not in the list? I have nothing in my list. This fix doesn't make sense simply because if you've never added Music to the auto-end list, why would it be there? Mine is locking up and I have no idea why. Just did a factory reset, so we'll see.
lol i know its not a solution for every problem, i just wanted to put it out there for other people like me that didnt think about it before. this is my first android phone so im still trying to figure some things out.
I didn't mean to sound rude. Sorry buddy. It's a great community.
yea no problem
Yea. I'm also having the same problem on my stock D2G. It happens when I'm streaming mp3's. Checked the auto end list and it was blank. I'm going to delete my Task Killer app and see if that does the trick.

It should. It should also increase your battery life and stability of your phone.
I'm having the same problem, once I turn the screen off, the music dies in two minutes. I tried stock music player and others, they all have the same problem. I set my screen timeout to "never" and there is no task killer on my machine and its not in the auto-end list.
Any idea why? should I reset the phone?
Thanks a lot.
Alex
I had the same exact problem and here's how I solved it on my D2G.
I took off music and gallery from my auto-end app list from my task manager. I'm not sure why when gallery is forced to stop, the music also stops playing.
Hope this helps.

Here is a repeateable solution.
I have a Moto Bravo with Andriod.
All music stops 2 mins after the screen goes black.
Look at Auto-close and remove the Gallery app.
All else can stay.
Now works perfectly.
Hope this helps,

How Android Works!!

Hi all,
I have a very basic query about android's general working. Please let me know if this is not the correct section to discuss this.
I read somewhere that apps do not exit in android and they go into inactive mode. I have a query here: It definitely eases the way to switching between the apps, however, doesn't it consumes more power in this case?
Basically, the discussion is about whether Task Managers are good or not?
Personally, I need to charge battery more frequently after uninstalling Automatic Task Killer from my phone. I am using Galaxy 3 with stock Android 2.1
Does anyone have this experience?
Generally apps running in the background don't consume any battery. Or consume very little if they're waiting on some event (i.e.to notify you of incoming message, etc.) And killing the app is counter productive because they'll usually restart themselves.
Apps that sync periodically are the ones that can consume battery if they're set to sync too often. Your task killer may have been stopping some of the syncing.

IMO task managers are not very useful. Android has it's own memory manager built in that will free up memory when needed. Here's a pretty good article discussing the matter.
http://androinica.com/2010/05/googl...-imply-task-killermanager-apps-are-pointless/
Personally, I try to control which apps are running in the background myself through the use of the home and back buttons. When you press the home button, the app remains in the background, able to be activated again quickly. If you press the back button, the app will exit and no longer be running (in rare cases, apps will take control of the back button so I can't say this happens for EVERY app). I almost always back out of programs, unless I know I'll be using it again soon. Hope this helps!
@ zeddicus225 - Yes. That Helps. Thanks.
@ rigman - Can you please explain, what you mean to say by "they'll usually restart themselves"?
How is this possible...please give an example for this where there is no application that sync itself and restart itself?
Also, I started this thread as my phone was getting slower irrespective of closing of all the apps by using Back button. Is there any solution or check for this?

Yes, turn it off and on again android memory management is rarely up to scratch
Hey Pulser,
Can you please explain, how the applications restart themselves in android?
I have heard it in many places.
Can anyone please reply to this?

low volume after JB update

after updating my canvas 2 with jelly bean, i experienced my mobile volume is now lower than it was with ICS.
also, i am using dr. battery killer which kills almost 20-25 processes each time. but in ICS, it was only 6-10 processes, that was also in rare cases. so how can i limit the background processes?
i tried to manually stop few of them but they restart automatically.
please help!

soyes 7s mini phone- How to disable "assist touch" ? gets turned on each boot
I got a cheap mini phone for dog walks,
soyes 7s
got it rooted and works fine, but there is an assist touch settings that enables a floating button after each boot. I can disable it in accessibility settings, but it is enabled again after a restart.
I have looked in the files in root, but have not found anything yet that might enable this setting each boot.
Now created a task in macrodroid with autoinput that disables it with a button.
Any slight chance of any help regarding a setting that is activated each boot?
I’d like to know this too. I’d love to see someone create a custom rom for this cool little phone. I love it.
have not found a solution, but with macrodroid and autoinput made it toggle the setting. So after unlock the settings screen is opened then toggled. Not pretty.
Also installed xposed on it.
Very cool little phone. Perfect with a bt earpiece and audify that reads incoming sms-email and caller name. Used Vphone S8 before, but this android thing is better and not much bigger.
Thanks for that. It’s fun with angry birds too lol. I’m really surprised the geeks haven’t jumped all over this. Low cost of entry and super cool and useful toy. You wanna meet girls, take this out on an elevator when they are all messing with their phones lol. I have mine set up to look like an iphone and it’s ace. Even found a silver Apple logo for the back on eBay. It’s a conversation starter. Way more capable than an Apple Watch lol
Hi. I just received mine. I bought to use in the same reason as you did. I saw that the phone is consuming a lot of battery in idle. I tried to root but I couldn't. With tools do you used to root yours? Thanks a lot.

I used the kingorot apk to root, but first unlock bootloader.

I then replaced kingorot with supersu, version stable 2.79.apk not the new ones.

When i do this the smartphone boots in Android. I already enabled OEM Unlocking and USB Debugging.

Awesome! Now it is working. Thanks a lot! I just installed xposed and now i am going to change some things and see if i can improve my battery. I will come back latter!
I installed the xposed installer and just installed the framework it suggested. arm7I.
OK My device is rooted. What is xposed? How does it work? I’m new to android. I’ve downloaded it from the App Store but can’t make it do anything. What tweaks work best and how do I get them installed?
I'd like to be able to tweak the home button functionality to be able to mimic iOS and activate voice search etc.
I have this phone too lovely little phone i have installed holo launcher and dropped the dpi down to 130dpi looks awesome now.The only thing is we need to find out what’s drawing the battery so fast in general use.The phone itself sleeps like a baby pretty good in standby anyone have any ideas. And would be nice if we can get a sub forum going for this device as i think its getting very popular.

I don’t know about that because it does a good job at standby time something seems to be draining it when in use may be some app or background process.I am sure we have plenty of people here with the know how to get it running better. I know this phone has been selling like hot cakes and a growing interest in the phone because it so well built and does not look so cheap and decent performance for that crazy size of it.Also i have been testing hotspot on this phone and the battery life is amazing when using hotspot to my ipad very impressed definitely a very handy feature of this phone.
Mine is also changed to 130dpi, looks much better now. That sim tray is a work of art lol.
yes, this phone is very snappy for the size. Feels faster than the two android watches I have, that are not used. Needed something that can be tucked away connected with bt and a voice notifier.
The xposed module "app settings" is good to tweak certain apps dpi and font size. I think my overall dpi is 120-130.
Also setcpu profiles to save when screen off and 900mhz screen on, only max cpu with incoming calls. Then greenify and amplify.
For me it last 2 days of dog walks, or 4-5 hours on connected to bt with a few short calls.
Do you have any issues with app icons moving around changing locations? I’m using an IPhone X launcher.
no, but i use Nova launcher. Not paid much attention, mainly for accepting incoming calls
