I have LineageOS installed on my XT1540, and in the settings there's an option to turn on the LED for charging. I want to know if there's a way to use the LED for notifications. For example, if I get a text, it blinks. Thanks in advance.

A quick Google search, or a search here, would get the answer quickly... No, the LED is hardwired to the charging circuit, we can turn it on or off when there is external power source connected, but not at any other time.
A simple hardware mod of jumping the 5v from the battery to notification light should work with kernel adjustments?

No it won't support the led blinking for notifications cz it's only for battery

It's really bothersome on the EVO how LED notifications only flash for 5 minutes then stop. Would love an app that creates its own LED notification and flashes it indefinitely until viewed. I know there are other notification apps on the market, but I'd prefer one that doesn't try to create other notifications (in the bar, pop-up, etc.). Something that JUST does LED, so I can then turn LED off in Settings, would be preferable.
Also would be nice to disable the LED while charging, or to be able to interrupt it, but I have a feeling this couldn't be done through the SDK.

I'm glad you posted this gripe, I have always wondered how long it will blink the LED but never thought to stop and time the LED- I would always clear whatever alert out of habit.

I would love for someone to be able to figure out how to do that. Its just too damn bright if you are using the phone while its charging and the lights are out (for example using it as an ereader.)
I would like the LED to flash while charging for notifications, does anyone know what colors the EVO's LED can actually flash besides red, green, and orange?
I also would REALLY enjoy all of the previously noted requests. But I'd rather not root my Evo just yet...would it still be possible? (like, could this possibly just be an app?)
Is there a way to notify sms and call by flashing keyboard led because ledmeknow do that but he flash red focus led with.

Have you tried using the "Keyboard" and "Keyboard blink" options in LED me Know?
Unfortunately, it looks like you also have to also have a LED blink in addition to blinking the buttons though... I think it would be a good request to ask the LED me Know author to add "None" to the list of LED colors. Maybe check the led me know thread to see if this has been asked before: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=837057

Does anyone know how to disable the red charging light on the S6 edge? I don't want to turn off LED notifications all together, just don't want that bright red charging light.
Try accessibility settings and turn on notification reminders I think that disabled the charging status.

Kind of a hacky work around but it totally works. Unfortunately I don't actually want notification reminders from all those other apps so I had to go through and turn them all off. Thank you!
Otherwise, just use Light Flow. It's great and let's you customize what colour each app has etc.

I was considering that but wasn't sure if LightFlow was working yet with the S6. Can anyone confirm that it does?
Sometimes the notifications would stay and not reset for mine on Telus. I'm using light manager and it's working great. I can't believe the lack of control for the LED on this phone...

Light Manager works for everything but charging status. I have contacts changed, call color changed, but for some damn reason the charging setting won't stick

Light flow actually works for charging status as well. I've set a red light with a custom interval of 50,10000. Basically keeps the light off.
I can't seem to fix this problem. None of the apps suggested here will turn off the stupid red light and the fix with notification reminder doesn't turn off the red light either. The only way I've found to get rid of the red light is to completely turn off the led light which isn't really a solution.

I have LightFlow installed and deleted the notification for charging. This made my light turn off when it's plugged in. If that doesn't work maybe set the notification, but set LED to off?

I used Light Manager. I hated both the charging and charged function. I Enabled the LED for both. Go to the Color selection and make a custom color. When you go back out to the HEX code selection, type in all Zeros. Should be Black. Save and test. Should make it go all quite.
I have the exact opposite situation: I would like to turn off all notifications LEDS but have the charge red/charged green light on (on my S6). I'm using Light Flow, is there an easy way to do this without manually setting it up for each individual app?
I came to the same solution as ChroniclesOfRedick:
Setting a custom color with 0x000000 and Priorty Low for the Charged Battery ist the trick with Light Manager!
Works with galaxy S7 and Android 7.
Hi, how the LED normally without plugging it to charger 24x7?
can you express it clearly?
you just don't. don't even ask
he want ask how he can use hidden white LED for normal notification ?
Ohh sorry I saw that I didn't express myself..
I mean how can I make the LED blink whenever a notification comes? The LED works only while charging, but isn't there any way to enable it for all general notifications?

No, never. This LED is only hardware conected to charging chipset
Hi guys,
I received my honor v10 yesterday and I haven't been able to get the LED to work for my preferred apps (WhatsApp, Type Mail...).
When charged, the LED works just finde. For example I configured WhatsApp to show a green LED when a notofication is incoming. But it just doesn't work.
I even tried some LED managing apps (lightflow, led manager, led blinker) - it doesn't work either.
Someone knows a fix resp. has the same problems?
When phone is unlocked or screen is lit up on lock, i noticed the led doesn't blink but as soon as screen light goes off, led blinks
Now it works. I forgot to turn on the LED notification in the system settings (the box wasn't checked...).
Help to check the box
