That thing broke the camera on one of the devices, so it's better to do it manually.

It didn't on my two phones including the G4 plus.

Hmm, alright. Many ROMs for various devices are now coming with Google Assistant pre-enabled.

Play Store doesn't load icons and images

Here's my problem, I've flashed the latest gapps on my m8 and everything works just fine, however, I noticed that play store are not showing images and icons for all the apps. It load just a few of them randomly. And screenshots NEVER loads.
I still can download and update things.
For reference, I checked the " Hosts " file and this came up on the top:

It happens both on WiFi and mobile data.
Already performed a "clear data" in both play store and Google play services, sign-out from my play store account, wipe dalvik/data via recovery. Etc.
Any help? Thanks in advance.

I'm using a rom based on the stock sense's lollipop
There's really any significant changes.
My model is the Chinese one (M8t) if that matters.
When I flashed the gapps using the original rom it didn't happened, however, it was the FULL gapps, containing a lot of bloat. This time around I used a minimal package, containing only the essential for play store to work (play services etc).
Thanks.

ok so there is two ways
1- the flashing process didn't go well
2-gapps problem
actually i use minimal gapps for android 5.1.1 and i don't have any problems
so you have the following to do :
1- re-flash the ROM and then reboot ..let your phone settle down..reboot to recovery wipe cache and dalvick cache then flash the minimal gapps
2-reflash the minimal gapps without the re-flashing the ROM ....(over-write the gapps again )
if both ways didn't work for you i recommend you change the GAPPS (maybe try delta gapps or get back to full )
good luck man

It's weird because I can't find Google+ through the play store , my Play games account doesn't connect.
My gapps package wasn't downloaded from xda, maybe that's the problem.
Could you link me to the one you're using?

Guys, don't let me in the dark.
Hmm. I al so get this problem but on 4.1.2 JB . There is way how to solve iy. Just go to setting. Go to wifi. Tap on your wifi and choose modify network. Tap advance optins. Choose static. And adjust your dns2 to 4.4.4.4 and the other one is 8.8.8.8 . Try to swap this two if this not working.

[7.0-7.1] How to achieve Pixel Features and Look on any Rooted Android Device

Hi! Guys Today I will share a guide on How to achieve Pixel features and look on almost any android device running android Nougat.
What you need?:- A rooted Nougat device, Root file manager(I recommened ES), Brain
Lets start:-
Go into root of your device using your fav. file manager and search for build.prop. Usually it lies in system folder but if not found search it. Open it with any text editor and add this two lines at it's end.
ro.product.model=Pixel XL
ro.opa.eligible_device=true
Now reboot your device.
After your device turns on Clear Google App data.(Clear whole data and not cache only).
Now long press on your device to launch Google assistant:laugh::laugh: .
Now another step.
Open playstore and install pixel launcher and wallpapers by google.
Now you need Link2SD.(Install if not already Installed)
Now open Link2SD find & convert Pixel launcher and wallpapers into system apps and reboot again. (This step enables Google Now on swipe).
Now Download the boot animation app by Jrummy from playstore and install the boot animation zip i provided or manually push it into your system where your boot animation is stored.(Normally it's stored in system>media)
Copy audio files and replace it with your default files in system>media>audio.
Now if you want more follow:- (Not recommened for CM users but i hadn't encountered any problem on my CM though )
Download substratum from Playstore and Pixel Ui which is similar theme for this app and apply it via the substratum. Reboot
Cm users can skip many steps and use any pixel theme and icon pack from Playstore and apply it via Themes app natively installed.:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
It's Done. Now enjoy all features and look of Pixel on your device.
While i encountered that google assistant doesn't recognize your voice I can't do anything for it now. I will keep looking to make it work but it will take time.Sorry.
You can also just download the launcher and wallpaper and install it. It still works that way. Also you can manually push them into system if required. But i suggest you to use bootanimation via substratum only as i pulled the zip file from PixelUi.
Here is a thread on Pixel experince you may want to take a look here too if you want to avoid so much work and go for flashing zips:-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...xel-experience-launcher-dialer-t3478907/page1
Tips:- Signup for google beta tester on playstore and update your google app to latest beta version for seamless google assistant work.
You may add those two build.prop at the end and don't change your default model number. It will still work.
Boot animation have a huge chances to work normally as the just conatin minimal animations and cover center of screen. So try it out and tell me.
This is my first guide. Please PM me or quote if you have any doubts before rating my guide bad.
Thank me if you liked my guide and my assistance.

Installing GAPPs suite on Honor 9 (Chinese Version) - NO ROOT NECESSARY

Hello alL,
I come to bring you good news. I have managed to install google play store and other Google Apps on the Chinese version of the Honor 9 (WITHOUT ROOT).
For anyone wondering, here are the steps.
1 - Download this file to your Honor 9.
2 - Decompress the zip file and install "Google Installer_2.0.apk". Don't touch the other files.
3 - Run this app (the newly installed one with the chinese name) and confirm using the Green button near the bottom.
4 - Confirm all prompts for authorisation, ensuring you select "Trust app" to give it full permissions. This will install the core "Google Play Apps Suite" as a user app, meaning that you will be able to uninstall "Play store" by simply dragging it to the top. See 1st screenshot.
5 - Check if Google Play Store has been installed and is working. If android complains about "Missing GMSs", reboot and try again. If still you have problems, try downloading "GMSInstaller apk" from an internet mirror of your choice.
See attached screenshots for proof that it works!
Great guide! Thanks for sharing. This is a safer way than rebrand, but rebrand will bring you a full Europe/US EMUI. You will not see any left-over Chinese characters.
The only downside is you'll be left with some Chinese letters here and there :/
But, it's easier than rebranding
Is there a lot of Chinese left so that it becomes difficult to use the phone? Or more like a minor nuisance? I'm currently in China and positively drooling at the local retail price but I've no access to a computer for rebranding.
Hi, I tried this procedure, I managed to install all the GApps but when I try to login or add google account the phone freezes for a moment and nothing happens. Same behavior on YT, while on Gmail and Play Store it still says "GMS Installer required". I guess that with a chinese phone you need to flash it anyway or it can't reach google servers. Am I right?

Hi,
I previously installed google services successfully using GMSinstaller when I first got my Honor 9 in August.
Now it is upgraded to B201 and because it always crashes when it comes to google play, I ran GMSinstaller again which asked me to uninstall every google related apps.
I did so but now it is impossible to install google again
GMS installer will only propose me to uninstall previously installed google apps, then reboot.
I tried several "Google Installer" including this one, none of them are working.
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks
It seems like this B201 update patches the GMS installer

I tried removing all the google stuff (framework, account manager, services, sync) then manually install each of them : still doesn't work.
Does anyone with B201 firmware succeed to install Google ?
Is it possible to downgrade without root/unlock ?
One thing I have not tried yet is reset to factory, If I do so I am wondering if a backup from HiSuite will restore everything...

After Factory reset, GMSinstaller worked again !
But my fear was confirmed : after restoring from HiSuite Backup, I lost some datas in my apps and also all my notes in the notes app
In the end got Google back, that's the most important !!

Is there any downside of running Chinese firmware for a user in Europe? I usually flash Xiaomi EU on phones from Xiaomi. However, since Redmi 10X 5G runs on a MTK-chip a EU-rom will probably not be released.

Looks like we'll be resigned to the Chinese variant I can't see Xiaomi releasing a global variant of this phone. It's a caveat but one we'll just have to get used to

[root] Playing around and accidentally uninstalled the play store - how to undo?

So, this is my first time rooting a phone, and once I managed to get it to work, I started playing around to see what capabilities I had now.
In doing this, I uninstalled the play store. I've tried multiple methods to reinstall it, but none have worked so far.
I've tried installing a new play store apk and used systemize to turn it into a system app, but that didn't work (the app crashed on launch)
I've also tried using link2sd but the app wouldn't let me convert to system app.
If anyone else has any tips for me I'd be grateful.
Using a samsung running android 11 - rooted with magisk, recovery method.
Copy it from another device using ApkExport then transfer the installable copy over to the victim device and install.
I haven't tried it with Playstore but it works on other apks even if the donor device is on a different Android OS version.

sadly the only other device i have is a samsung galaxy S2 that is barely functional. I doubt that'll work.
Before you do anything I'd make sure you have a good backup of your device. Copy text messages, contacts, photos, etc all to external storage.
My first thought was just download install APK, but I see you've done that.
Someone else may have a better suggestion, but, if nothing else works, I'd try installing pico GApps to restore Playstore functionality.
https://opengapps.org/
Pico PackageThis package is designed for users who want the absolute minimum GApps installation available. In this package you will find the core Google System Base, Google Android Shared Library, Google Play Store, Google Calendar Sync, Dialer Framework and the following Play Store applications:

I copied apks from a S4 running on Kitkat to my Note 10+. If it loads Playstore will need to update, that may be a problem... or not.

No dice. App crashes on launch.

Google Play Store app by type is a normal 3rd-party app. Wondering why you want to convert it to a system app?

Yeah it's a system app on my Note 10+, can't be uninstalled*.
Normally it doesn't crash although it's common for it to not connect to Playstore. It does that if Google play Services is disable but even then it doesn't crash.
* I think, it has a disable option but to find out if there's an uninstall I would need to revert to the factory load first... which isn't something I want. It appears to be as I originally stated.

there is no uninstall option. I uninstalled it through other means as my phone is rooted. Now I'm having issues re-installing it and getting it to work.
My last 2 cents here:
Per definition only apps that are needed by Android OS to work are called system apps and are stored in /system/apps. Other apps - called 3rd-party apps like Google Play Store - may be stored in /system/priv-apps.
BTW:
If you manually install Google Play Store APK then it installs to /data/app directory - as expected.
