Dolphin emulator - Shield Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone got Dolphin emulator working on their tablet?

Bump

Older versions will work, but the latest and greatest requires a 64 bit system. The Shield is 32 bit. Something about a change to how Marshmallow handles memory.

Don't even try it, it doesn't worth it...move on to something else...

my case also under marshmallow firmware, either the game plays at like 4fps (unplayable) or doesn't start at all (black screen), i've tried mario sunshine, mario kart, smash bros and sonic adventure 2 battle.

I've been testing this. I have dolphin emu working pretty well, close to full speed in some games. It's an old tweaked version. The thing is, for it to work, you need to be in lollipop, 'cause since marshmallow update, google changed something in mem management and emulators like dolphin can't use FastMem hack any more, so that's why it won't work... I can help getting it to work, but you need to downgrade... tell me if interested, or if you want me to try out some game to see if it works before you downgrade

Do you happen to still have the build and settings you used to play the games well?

PSX4droid release imminent!!

I am not the dev. I was on twitter and saw that the dev wrote that he is all signed up to put apps in the market and that a release is imminent. And that "tomorrow is going to be exciting" so maybe he is going to release to the market tomorrow, hopefully. Here are the tweets. Been waiting for this app since it was previewed.

Also not sure if anyone has seen this, but it seems that the same guy who did Wii controller IME is working on making the PS3 controller work with our phones.
Somebody's working on PS3 pad support but it isn't me. I should have known that picture would have caused some confusion..
Sick for both posts! I knew about the emulator, but the controller thing will be awesome!
He didn't say he was releasing the emulator. Just that "a release" is imminent. I'm not getting my hopes up until I see it

Again, to clarify the confusion over one of my tweets I am not developing support for the DualShock3, that is our very own member pikipirs who also did the Wiimote support and made the famous Mario Live Wallpaper. You can read about it here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7324669&postcount=457
Changed it and deleted the twitter posts on the PS3 controller thing.

Do you have an ETA for the release of the emu?
Anyone know what type of file this emu is going to use? I want to download some games ahead of time so I can test this out once its released. And what website would I be able to download from? I know a couple but want one that has a bunch of PS games.

The app is by the people who did psx4iphone. Therefore, its should be just the same as the iphone version. Now just lookup info about how to run games on psx4iphone and you are set.

Its out in the market now!!! Cost is $5.99. I bought it anyway. lol. If you do buy this, at first it was running slow, then I bumped up the screen refresh rate to 40 and its running really smooth. Playing Crash Bandicoot. lol.

EDIT: i found it just fine in the market. search for "psx4droid"
I can't get my isos to work
What games has everyone tested it with? I'm thinking about getting it, but it price is pretty steep.
Yeah I think I'm gonna have to lay down 6 bucks for this. I need to play me some colony wars.
Completely unplayable at all refresh rates on an overclocked EVO running Android 2.2 (Froyo). Games all run in slow motion.
Tried:
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Final Fantasy 7
Chrono Cross
I'm running the latest stock Rom, rooted. I've tested ff7 and ff tactics. Both work beautifully. Tried a crash team racing Rom ISO which never booted.
... what refresh rate are you using? Do you have to close the emulator and re-open it when changing refresh rates? Changing them didn't seem to do anything for me.

Snesoid or Nesoid slowdowns

I am using the latest TNT lite and it stutters pretty often. I am using the latest versions of both. Any ideas or version numbers I may need to use?
What games? Not seen stutter on any TNT version. PSX4Droid also plays smooth and with 3D games.
I would like to check them the games that stutter for you- assuming I have the games, of course.
All NeoGeo and the more complex CPS2 roms also play smooth.
Thanks

I had studdering with punch out on Nesoid but I determined that it was due to the actual game itself and it studdered the same on my phone and the G Tab.
I get a lot of constant shakiness with SNESoid playing super mario world. I was just testing however since I JUST got TnT installed on my tab. I was using the on screen controls as a result. I remember hearing that disabling the on screen controls will reduce the processor load. I hope to try that later today and hopefully have good news to report. I have also not yet tested NESoid or GBAoid

Interesting I will try that. I am using a wiimote. I turned off frameskip and that has helped quite a bit.

I messed around more with SNESoid. Having sound enabled is what caused my issues. When I disable things worth smoothly with or without the onscreen controls. Maybe I am the one with egg on my face here and everyone knows that sounds makes playback choppy with any game on any system but it is certainly a deal breaker for me.
I was hoping to use HDMI + wiimote to bring all my older games with me on-the-go.
I will say this. I did noticed that my device is acting a bit strangely(TnT 2.2.0 fresh <2 days old). I found that some video will strangely playback smoothly now that would not a few days ago. I also get some gapps force closes randomly. Angry birds has worked perfectly. Maybe the issue is entirely with me and not my gtab.

MGS not working on latest FPSE

on my older FPSE all i had to do was enable SPU sound and Metal gear solid worked but now it doesnt
the bios has been loaded
im unaware of a new method (if one even exists) to get it working but if there is something i missed i would be grateful if someone could fill me in
Try regressing to an older version, sometimes new versions have differences in compatibility.

MGS works for me. FPSE 0.10.58

Only setting of note that I enabled was SPU sync which I have on for all games that I've played. Other than that, though I doubt they'd make much of a difference, I've set the following variables in fpse.ini:
ArmCoreV7=on
Screen_posx=107
Screensizex=75
thanks for that, but just going back to a older FPSE did the trick
I'm on the newest version and the game only loads to konami and it doesn't go any further

i got the same problem! only loads to konami then Japan Studios and thats it T_T going back to an older version works? and how do i do that?
Thanks a lot
how do i go about getting games like mgs, resi 3, ff7 do i need a psx emulator or do i just need to download the fpse psx bios app from the market, all new to me so if anything technical needs doing could you tell me in noob terms lol. thaks

[Q] Running Fred! Not running that well on my device :/

Once in a while you come across a game that you like instantly. "Running fred" is one of these games. But sadly it isnt running smoothly at all.
Im on sch rom with uc kernel v8.
Can anyone test it on his/her device(its a free game) and tell me if its running smoothly or not? Or maybe can anyone suggest a way to smoothen the game up?
Update: Just tried it on galaxy s2 and its running as smooth as silk.... guess our device cant handle it :/.... Its weird though since our device can properly play games like asphalt 6 hd and spider man hd
Well have you tried falling fred from the same dev? Its also free yet it runs on our phone smoothly. But the running fred isn't. I also have that game and it's great but as you said it's kinda laggy that you can't see where the hell the coins are when are aleeady that fast. Well i think the reason is the GPU. Or perhaps it is not yet OPTIMIZED for our device. Let's wait for updates of that game.

Hmm i guess you're right... we have to play the waiting game for this awesome app :/
you must have installed this as an apk from another phone or something's messed up in my market. I can see it, it prompts me to instal it, but it doesn't install, so I can't test it without making some effort to find a way to download it.
Probably something is wrong with your market since i did downloaded it from the android market.

Note 5 + Gear VR

Hey I got the Gear VR last night and it is pretty cool, I had to use an app disabler to run Google card board app though. What else can you do or add. I seen a video where u can use a Wii mote but, I haven't tried it.

Plays 3D movies really well. Downloaded a few and pasted them in Oculus>Movies>3D
You will have to create the folders.

Download Titans of Space! It's a really cool guided tour of our solar system. The sense of scale is pretty crazy. Also, Vanguard V features some great graphics and depth effects.
You rooted?
There's a headset at my job and I used the phone they had, worked great. Ordered one. Tried my newly rooted Note 5 (on arter kernel) and it was a laggy mess. I've heard it's bc of the kernel, but don't really find too many posts about it. What's your config(s)?
I have tried each rom and many kernels and none have worked right so far. I'm so desperate at this time im trying to find a stock rom and go back to non-root just to get this thing working.
Why do phones+headset have "drift"? Regular headsets, such as Oculus Rift, don't have the drifting problem.

Try Loco +either Jovy's stock modified or sky high kernal.. Both work great for me. No lagg
I ended up doing stock Kernel and stock ROM, rooted. Used an ODIN firmware, updated to latest via OTA, flashed TWRP, flashed root, and rebooted. TWRP disappears, but root stayed, so while I can't modify system (some games I play will trip the anit-cheat nonsense, ugh), I can still have root. So it's good. Still have strange drain while sleeping, but it's the price I pay for the games i play. VR works perfectly fine as well.
I'm scared of trying other kernels due to some game's anti-cheat scans. Thank though!
I think it would be worth it to try sky high. It's all I've been rocking.
