Strange Sd Card behaviour - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hi there,
i have a strange problem with my Galaxy S7 and SD cards.
Galxy S7 SM-G930F unbranded, G930FXXU1BPLB unrooted
SD Card: Samsung Pro+ 128GB
I am using ES File Explorer, but also tried several other file managers.
When i try to move files from one folder to another folder ON the external sd card, it takes very long (depending on the filesize) i assume that the file is beeing copied and then deleted instead of just moving ist.
If transfering files from networkfolders to external, writespeed is not faster than 3 MB/s but to internal storage is almost 3 times faster. (WiFi 5GHz)
Moving files from external to interal storage is about 60MB/s an moving from interal to external is at about 28MB/s, so that looks ok to me.
I tried different sd cards, alwys the same issue. I dont know what to to do.
Any help out there?

Try Solid Explorer, i have the same card and moving large files from external to external is quick.

hi lakicamm,
thank you for your reply, but i already tried solid explorer without luck.

Hmm i think root has something to do then, in solid explorer i always see that it granted root access when moving files on external sdcard.

How do you move files off your internal SD to an external SD?

I just got this external SD card installed, but I can't figure out how to move media files off my internal onto my external within the phone (Astro).
I saw the external SD folder under the SD card, but I couldn't move files to it within the phone. I ultimately plugged in Mass Storage and I saw two different external drives and I moved it that way. That took a long time to move 7 gbs.
Any other way to do it?
Use my files that is right there in apps built in long press on the file or folder you want. There are other apps on the market that work but that is there.

Or move.
From a phone
Astro doesn't allow me to move them from internal to external either. Never has. I just use root explorer or file manager. I assume its something to do with permissions but I never cared enough to look into it.

[Q] Problems copying from the SD (32GB SanDisk)

Has anyone else experienced problems copying files from the SD card to internal SD or MicroSD? I receive an "insufficeint space" error, even though there is plenty of space available. I can copy the same file from MicroSD to internal SD with no problems, I can copy the same file from MicroSD to SD with no problems. Running Revolver 311 now, had same issue on Krackd 142. Thanks in advance for your help...
I think I'm a little lost with the description... If the internal SD is the internal storage of the TF and the MicroSD is the external storage, how do you connect the other SD?
If its via dock, do you know where does it mount it?

Yes, it's the sd card that goees into the dock. This is my understanding of the mounts:
/mnt/sdcard = internal storage
/Removable/MicroSD = micro sd card in the tablet itself
/Removable/SD = Full size sd card in the dock (this is the one I have trouble copying from)
Thanks for you help, I'm going to assume it was a corrupt file or files. I was able to copy a different file successfully as well as move a folder off the SD card. I'm going to reformat card and copy files from PC to card and then try and copy again and see if I get any issues. I didn't think about corrupt files before because thay were video files and they played just fine.

[Q]External sd card?

hi ppl
i have the GT 2 7 16gb with the STOCK ROMS ICS 4.0.4 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1838072 )
but i have a sd card with 8gb.
when i put the sd card in my tab it detects the card, but I can not access the files
i use the es file explorer...
is there any problem with the tab?
Rom?
SD Card?
i dont understand whats up :S
thanks for the help...
The sdcard is located at /extSdCard if you're browsing through files. If it isn't being shown, it is possible that it needs to be formatted, in which case, you would have to do it in a phone, or on a computer with an adapter. Do you know what format the microSD card was using for the filesystem?
im using the card on my htc hero, with ext4 with 900mb space to apps
but i want use that card in the tab...
maybe if format 'll be work...
ahh,,,and the card is 8gb class 4
sorry my bad english
with the apk File Expert it works...
now i have access to my files...
thought could have access with the es file explorer...
thanks for the help :highfive:
ES File explorer works too!
you have to set sdcard path to: /mnt/extSdCard

[Q] External sd card not writeable

Hi
I am an xperia miro user(ICS). I updated framewire recenty to 5.8 and rooted my device. Now i am having issues with my external sd card. Es file explorer although it had been granted SU permissions isnt able to create a folder ( operation failed) or transfer any file from sd card to External Sd card. Tried another app called "Rootbrowser" with which i was able to create new folder in external sd card, but still cant write to the External sd card. I have already tried formating my External sd and also changing permissions which i saw on one of the forums here.
Nothing is working for me
I have tons of space left in my External sd card and i cant use it :crying:
Kindly help and solve this issue

Are there any file managers that work with an SD card?

So I've been pretty happy with my Shield K1 but I finally bought an SD card and I'm having some trouble. I originally used the SD card as "portable storage" but it was a bit limited since I was unable to copy apps to the Micro SD. I reformatted it as internal and it's been great... except that I can't use any file managers. Cabinet tells me it needs root access in order to access the files on the SD card, and Solid Explorer keeps asking me for permission even though I granted it Storage permission.
Are there any file managers that can be used to manipulate files on the Micro SD card when it is adopted as internal storage?
