[Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime/Pro] How to flash China developer ROM from general ROM - Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime Guides, News, & Discussion

YOU WILL NEED
1-ADB drivers http://click.xda-developers.com/api...elopment and Hacking | XDA Forums&txt=Dropbox
Here is a Tutorial Video to install it correctly
https://youtu.be/LbAq6d2Du0U
2-China developer ROM (choose Redmi 4 Prime Latest China Developer Version Fastboot File Download)http://en.miui.com/a-234.html
3-MiFlash http://xiaomitips.com/download-in-progress/?dlm-dp-dl=1474
4-Redmi 4 Mi Flash Setup.msi.
FLASHING CHINA DEVELOPER ROM ON YOUR XIAOMI
1-First of all you must enable USB debug and OEM unlock on your device.
2-Then unzip Global ROM (the file .tgz) and keep the folder on the desktop.
3-If you did install the adb drivers there should be a folder in this path C:\adb open it and press SHIFT+right mouse click in an empty space then select the option to open with command line.
After that, windows CMD should open.
4- Plug the mobile (do not turn it off) with the usb cable and on CMD write:
adb devices
Click to collapse
Doing this you will check if the device has been recognized (probably it would be "offline" on the first attempt, don't worry). Once the command is given it should appear on your mobile a message, press "always allow".
Then insert the instruction again.
5-Then write on CMD:
adb reboot edl
Click to collapse
The mobile should now restart in a black screen, keep it plugged in.
6-Drag the MiFlashSetup.msi to the Mi Phone (2) file
https://mega.nz/#!vYQ1BYSJ!PG7Q-vxPKftcS2UX7YnDnrIyD-yGCuguvq8j6HHdLoI
check "Flash All" and then go to "browser".
Now select the unpacked folder from the .tgz file. Once everything is done, click on "refresh" and you should see the number (COM) in which the device is connected.
Click on "Flash". Flashing should take a few minutes.
Once Flashing is done, unplagged the device and reboot it.
The first boot should take more than normal.
Now with this ROM you can unlock your device following this Guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/rooting-roms/xiaomi-redmi-4-prime-pro-unlock-t3519811l
If this was helpful, hit the THANKS button.

Should i also use this method and download "Redmi 4 Prime Latest Global Stable Version Fastboot File" after i successfully unlock the bootloader to revert back to Global Rom?

I tried to use MiUnlocker using China Developer Rom, but sadly still stuck at 50%, i don't have any idea what's the problem.

Currently i'm on Global China Rom 8.1.3.0, i can't revert back to Global Rom since it requires Unlock Bootloader to use MiFlash. Maybe i'll try to wait 1 week, it seems the problem is on my mi account.

I dont think you need to unlock if you want to flash official miui with miflash. You can use EDL mode.

I tried to put the following command "adb reboot edl" but it doesn't show a black screen. After a restart it just boots up straight to home screen. I also tried "fastboot oem edl" on fastboot, after i put the command, it only shows Failed Oem Lock. Note that my OEM unlock is tick on under Developer Options. The only way i could think of is to Unlock the Bootloader.

Yes, i already did it before when i flashed China Developer Rom going from Global Rom, no any issues at all.
But once i try to get back from China Developer to Global, i now face these issues. it seems China Developer requires Unlocked Bootloader to be able to flash back into Global, but as i've said my Bootloader is still locked(MiUnlocker still stuck at 50% verifying).

So nothing went wrong and you actually have the china developer ROM.
Have you tried using MiFlashUnlock_1.1.0118.1? it's the older version in chinese (I unlocked the bootloader with that)

It works normally before when i'm running Global Rom, i only had this issues now that i'm running China Developer or China Global. My OEM Unlocking and USB Debugging is "tick on" under Developer Options. I pressed Shift+Right Click on blank field under Minimal ADB Fastboot. Tried it like 10 times already but it just goes straight to home screen, no black screen(but before it shows black screen when i'm running Global Rom).

I've found some post on MIUI Forum that once you flashed China Rom then your OEM will lock to prevent changing into Global unless your Bootloader is Unlock, i guess that's why i can't flash back to Global.

it seems you did something wrong in some of those steps

Unlock Bootloader Mi4c

Hi,
someone has been able to unlock the locked bootloader?
I have the phone locked in the boot screen (Mi) and I can only get to the fastboot.
It will not let me load any .img file from ADB. He says that the terminal is blocked.
All this I go to load (without being aware) a Miui version from the official website.
Thanks and regards.
hey, try to use Mi Flash then flash the stable ROM into your phone. You can use updater to flash too. AFAIK, your bootloader will be opened in stable roms.

Yes, I can't use miflash!!!!
I've been trying, but I get the same failure. (device is locked. Cannot flash images)
I cannot enter in the phone, stays on the main screen, with the logo Mi.
ah so the reason is you can't boot into the UI. You have to ask for unlock request from MI website. after 10 days, they will approve and give your unlock code...

Yes, I ordered it and am waiting to send me the code.
Even so, I wanted to know if you have been able to unlock it somehow.
I don't understand why Xiaomi does not have a release such as Motorola or others.
Thanks!

I agree with you and I think the same thing. But for my, the problem is the service so slow Xiaomi. If they knew that it could happen to them, because they did not think in another way to solve this.
Is there also, somehow skip the Boot Manager or change the bootloader of the Mi4c? has anyone tried it?

Hi guys,
Someone has tried it or has obtained it?
I have the same problem, i've received the sms from xiaomi to unlock bootloader, but when i use the miflash unlock tool the operation stops at 50% and says 'couldn't verify device' , probably because i'm not connected with the mi account into the phone....oh and my phone, obviously, is in bootloop and i can go to fastboot mode and nothing else
Someone have any ideas to help me?
I just happened to me today, I wanted to prove Version: 2.6.25 (MIUI7) on Xiaomi's website for mi4c and entered the TWRP recovery and I wiped the system, and i wanted to install Version: 6.2.25 (MIUI7), was installed but stuck to miui.com when i restart . What to do ??????
i still stuck at 50 %

1. Enter to fastboot mode (with rabbit).
2. On the drive "C" must be a folder ADB with the necessary files.
3. Need to download the firmware for fastboot (e.g. 7.1.6.0) and copy it into any folder on the drive, folder name without spaces.
4. Enter to ADB command promt.
5. Commands:
5.1 fastboot devices
5.2 fastboot oem edl
6. Use MiFlash to flash you firmware.
7. Reboot )
What if i root and install twrp and then custom rom without unlocking bootloader?

[Guide] Unlocking the Mi4c Bootloader without verification by Xiaomi

This evening I had the same problem like many of you and I just did not want to wait 2-3 weeks for the unlock code from Xiaomi. I went through a lot of threads and different forums to create this guide.
Requirements
- ADB up and running (I am an Android developer, so I have this installed already - unsure if you need specific ADB drivers for Xiaomi devices though)
- Xiaomi MI4c
- MiFlash: http://bigota.d.miui.com/tools/MiPhone20151028.exe (via http://en.miui.com/a-234.html) - Install
- Mi4c Image: libra_images_6.1.7_20151221.0000.11_5.1_cn_b09dac70a0.tgz - unpack until "images" directory is visible!
- [Optional] Mi4c Fastboot Image: miui_MI4c_6.1.21_d1d054460d_5.1.zip
- [Optional] Latest TWRP: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-4c/development/libra-twrp-3-0-t3315059
- [Optional] Latest build of CM 12.1: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-4c/development/cm12-1-build-cyanogenmod-12-1-device-t3291631
Step-by-step
Step 1 is optional: I was not sure, if I could use the "fastboot oem edl" command in a higher version of MIUI... feedback required. Thus following is a list of known Xiaomi ROMs which support this procedure:
If you are using one of the following ROM versions, you should be able to unlock the device easily with the provided guide. However, I have messages that the versions don't work with higher MIUI ROM versions.
CONFIRMED WORKING
V8.6.9.15 MIUI Dev ROM
V8.0.16.0 MIUI Dev ROM
V7.5.4.0
V7.5.3.0.LXKCNDE
V7.1.4.0.LXKCNCK
V6.1.21 (Download link above)
V6.3.24
V6.3.17
V6.4.21
V6.4.14
V6.5.26
V6.8.25
V6.9.15 (China Dev)
Not confirmed (?)
None
Not working
None
(Optional) Downgrade your Mi4c by flashing any image from the list above via the "Updater" app (use top right icon to select image).
Reboot into fastboot mode (Power + Vol Down) until you see the MIUI rabbit and "FASTBOOT"
Command: fastboot oem edl (this brings your device in a kind of emergency recovery state) -> the device does only show a black screen. Do the next step.
Use MiFlash to flash 6.1.7 image (Browse -> select the "images" directory of the 6.1.7 package and start flashing)
When completed, reboot the phone by holding the Power button long (~8s)
Wait until 6.1.7 is completely loaded (this may take a while)
Reboot into fastboot mode (Power + Vol Down)
Command: fastboot oem unlock -> at this point you should have an unlocked bootloader
Now optionally install TWRP and subsequently CM 12.1 and enjoy (see respective linkes in the requirements for a howto) - TWRP: fastboot flash recovery <twrp>.img
With this post, I want to say thank you to all the developers who take their time to port Cyanogen to exotic Android devices. You are heroes!
In case you want to donate me something: https://paypal.me/wolkenjaeger

Yes you can, as you see the CM is optional, you can choose any rom of your liking.
Be warned that any of the latest official Miui roms will lock your bootloader right back and if you have TWRP in place, you will bootloop.
Xiaomi.eu or sMiui highly recommended alternatives if you want to go with miui.
Great step by step tutorial, worth a sticky imo since more and more people coming here will be locked in the future.
I did unlock the bootloader using the guide and it works.
Step 1 Downgrade your Mi4c by flashing the 6.1.21 image via the "Updater" app (use top right icon to select image) is not necessary .
Also all data will be wiped.

don't let en.MIUI rom boot after you install twrp. because it will reinstall the stock recovery over the twrp recovery. In fact, you have to go directly to twrp after flashing it, and try MIUI.eu or other CM roms.

Fastboot is fairly simple. Download the latest Chinese from from miui.com, unzip it, connect your device in fastboot mode, and run the flash_all.bat file. It will take a while and the command prompt window will close when it is finished and your device will reboot.

My understanding is to:

2. unzip all files in that same directory (or should I create new one?)
3. Execute the command below:
fastboot flash_all.bat
By the way, can I use fastboot with locked bootloader?

If you have ADB installed system wide, then it doesn't matter where you unzip the full image to. The best way to have ADB installed system wide is through this method.
You don't need to type anything. Just open the folder the ROM was decompressed in, right click the flash_all.bat, and run it as administrator with your device connected in fastboot mode. It will literally do everything else.

Did you install ADB 1.4.3 from the thread linked to? Do you have your device connected to a USB 3 port or USB 2 port? Are you using the cable that came with your device to flash it? Were you booted into the bootloader when trying to flash?
Edit: Read that post wrong. You need to download the fastboot version. You can't flash the TWRP image using fastboot.

Please help to restore CC 9
Please help me bring my Xiaomi CC 9 back to life. I updated it with MIUI 11.3.3.0.PFGEUXM and my device does not boot normally. My bootloader is locked and an account is not installed in the developer settings. Does anyone know what to do ???
I got error -1 on my smartphone when I added account and device in the '' mi unlock status '' menu.
How to solve

Edit:
resolved: I logged out and logged into the Mi account on the device and gave no error
I have to wait 168H to unlock
Tks
GSI's are quite good. I have good SOT with ArrowOS GSI: 12h - 13 h. I think it's more interesting to use Pie GSI's for now.
Where can I get this ArrowOs GSI rom?
Unlock tool stops at 50%
What should I do when the Unlock Tool stops at 50% and reports: couldn't verify the device. Is it because I haven't waited the 10 days yet?
You have to wait to unlock bootloader.

you dont have to boot the image if you flashed it first, if you did 'fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img', no reason to do the boot part, just do fastboot reboot-recovery
if you dont want to flash twrp over your stock recovery, then use the fastboot boot recoveryname.img and then mess around with twrp, backup everything and flash a new rom and reboot, next time you reboot to recovery, stock will still be there

Unfortunately I can't help you with that but I have a question did you wait 10 days or not cause my phone just refuses to cooperate with the unlock tool. Sometimes the fastboot logo just disapears and it says press any button to shutdown.
Edit: Just to clarify the flash tool does not say anything about the waiting period. If someone can help me or clarify the situation I would greatly appreciate it.
Alright so it appears to either be a USB gen limitation or just my plain ass stupidity for not installing adb drivers. Hell if I know but either way now it says how many days I have to wait so nice.

Cannot get oem unlock token oneplus 8 tmobile (in2017)

So I purchased a tmobile op8 and it arrived yesterday, after setting up the phone and network unlocking (which happened basically instantaneously after applying for it which i found odd), I am currently trying to unlock bootloader in the hopes of converting it to the international firmware. I am on software version 11.0.5.7.IN55CB
The problem I am facing is that whenever i try to do "adb devices" while the phone is powered on it works and lists it, but when the phone is in fastboot mode it does not list the device. Also when i do "fastboot oem get_unloock_code" it gets stuck at waiting for devices. I have read through numerous posts both here and on the op forums talking about this and some listed solutions such as going into windows optional updates and updating google bootloader or something, while others said to check that bootloader is unlocked (i did both and didnt work). Any tips? Also, could someone please link to the correct adb and driver downloads as I am getting mixed results when searching which is the correct download.
Just need to update drivers friend. Follow carefully.
1. Download Google fastboot drivers, unzip to get "usb_driver" folder
2. Right click file "android_winusb" and select install. Press OK on confirmation dialog.
3. Boot phone into fastboot, and connect to PC
4. Open the device manager on PC, and look for android device. Should have an orange triangle next to it
5. Right click that -> Update driver -> Browse my computer -> let me pick from a list -> Android Bootloader Interface
After success message fastboot commands will work. I'd also recommend using the lastest Fastboot Tools from Google if you have any more issues.
Have fun waiting 1-2 weeks for your unlock_code.bin file. F&^% T-Mobile lmao.

would i be able to convert to international firmware with this?
also at the end of instructions it states "***** i have not had any luck being able to flash custom roms onto this device even with it unlocked so be forewarned *****" Does this mean that only using this method does not allow for custom roms, or would waiting for tmobile unlock, converting to international firmware also not work with roms?
If roms dont work on this model even after flashing international firmware then im probably not even going to unlock lol

don't forget to backup your persist.img there is some % chance it may get lost and you will have to recalibrate firngerprint sensor also back up the modem.img from twrp beacause that's has imei of your phone and if somehow you get your phone hardbricked that would be nice thing to have as a peace of mind

you can backup persist without twrp. i'm sure modem could be backed up without twrp too but that's how i did it even tho i did not need persist nor modem image but i would suggest you do it anyways just to be safe booting into twrp in not hard at all you have to do is go info fastboot and through adb file boot into recovery ( fastboot boot "recovery" ) device will reboot in twrp and from there you just backup persist and modem take that file and save it on your computer
also important note for android 10 use twrp 3.4 and for android 11 use 3.6 and most importantly if you read the instructions on converting to global or installing twrp or custom rom carefully it will work 100% i was lazy and did it old way i used to do it on some other android phones and bricked few times but it was all good with msm tool you could restore phone from almost every state that's what made oneplus great

Ive run into an issue with edl mode and you seem knowledgeable. I tried to flash the international firmware with an unlocked bootloader but it turned out to be an older build and now my phone is in crash dump mode. I planned on using msmtool to downgrade to android 10 and just restart but my phone isnt detected by my pc even though i have the qualcomm drivers installed. Any tips?
edit: btw can still access fastboot mode (download mode)
so phone is recognized in fastboot but not as qhusnhub or whatever its supposed to be, its just called oneplus android bootloader interface

EDL mode can be tricky. This one's not a guarantee but it always works for me.
1. Download LinageOS recovery. Make sure you put it in your fastboot/platform-tools folder.
2. Flash that recovery in fastboot mode (unlock bootloader first if you need to) with the command "fastboot flash recovery lineage-18.1-20211218-recovery-instantnoodle.img"
3. Now boot into recovery, select advanced options, and enable ADB.
4. Now you have full adb access. Make sure you're plugged in and use this command on your PC. "adb reboot edl"
5. Check MSM, should be detected now if the right drivers are installed. If not, try combinations of different USB ports and different cables (you'd be surprised)
A lot of the tutorials on here on how to get a T-Mobile version to Global firmware are wonky methods or outdated, so let me know if you continue to have issue with that.

Just wanted to say that this solved my issue of not being able to make it past the reboot into fastboot when flashing from TMo to Global using the flash-all.bat guides. I ran the batch file on a newly MSM'd 10.5.22 and when it got stuck at "waiting for device" I followed these steps and as soon as the driver was installed the batch file kicked back in and finished the flashing. Cheers!

Thanks SO MUCH for this!! This is the only thing that allowed me to get into EDL Mode. I'm a bit stuck using MSM though. It shows my device as connected, but when I click the "Target" dropdown O2 is not an option. The only option I see is TMO. Any ideas?
UPDATE: i was able to get MSM going. Selecting the target was not needed, just needed to reboot the phone into EDL again and quickly press Start.
I'm back to stock now and just unlocked my bootloader again.
I now have a follow up question: My goal is to install Pixel Experience on my OPO8. Do I need to flash the Global ROM first or can I go straight into Pixel Experience?
UPDATE 2: no matter what I try flashing to my device I always end up getting "not allowed" errors with the critical partition. I've done the fresh MSM process three times already and always end up hitting these critical partition errors when trying to flash the global rom (or any other rom for that matter). any ideas?

Do you have a T-Mobile device? If so you SHOULD be selecting "TMO" from the dropdown in MSM. Not O2 or leaving it blank. If you don't have a T-Mobile device, your using the wrong MSM tool as TMO shouldn't be an option.
Did you unlock your bootloader after MSMing back to stock? MSM Tool will automatically lock your bootloader. Also what recovery are you using to try to flash ROMs?
Also PixelExperience is dead for op8 it stopped getting updates. I'd recommend HavocOS for a "Pixel Experience". Also a well polished ROM in general.

I'm pretty sure that this is a T-Mobile device. It registers as IN2017 which matches the description of the phone I bought off amazon but not exactly sure how else can i verify this.
I did unlock the bootloader after MSMing back to stock. One thing I noticed is that the stock image that MSM flashed has Sprint branding and not T-Mobile. maybe i'm using the wrong MSM tool? I'm using the one from this guide
I just re-did MSM; this time selecting TMO and I still got Sprint branding. is this expected?
I've been trying with multiple recoverys: the stock one, TWRP and the one that pixelexperience had. The LineageOS one you provided I only used for doing the ADB thing to boot into EDL. What recovery do you recommend I use?
I did read about PixelExperience being dead so downloaded Havoc.
can you please confirm if I should be flashing the Global ROM before flashing HavocOS? regarding the critical partition errors any ideas whats causing those?
last question is regarding adb/fastboot - been reading different things about what version to use. been doing all my last experiments using the ones from https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools but got the same results. sorry to spam you with so many questions - appreciate your help!

I've never seen that MSM tool, but the one I use doesn't have any Sprint files at all. Not sure where you found that MSM but use this one for future reference.
No you don't need to flash global before a ROM.
