Morning,
I replaced my OPO battery with one of a million you can find on Ebay (none are legitimately produced), I've seen the the voltage on it exceed 4.3v by a small margin (one point that worries me) at max charge, it also has a an issue where it will suddenly plummet in reported charge and then rise without me charging the device... Did I lose the Chinese battery lottery?
http://imgur.com/a/muFXq
It's not a calibration issue, anyone who's researched it knows it's not something you need to do actively do anything to achieve, I've since wiped the phone entirely to see if a clean slate would change anything, it didn't.
Has anyone replaced the battery and had no issues? I feel trying to source a quality third-party battery is going to be next to impossible.
Thanks.
Well I have an issue after replacing mine when it charges to about 90-97% the voltage reported by accubattey is 4.280 -4.3 V for when the charging current drops to zero. The capacity reported by accubattey is 3050 ish mah.
Till now I only did one full 0-100 cycle. Do you have any ideea on how to fix this ?
Maybe you could try doing some cycles for the battery or use a tool to monitor and record the battery voltage. Maybe it will bring more info on why the procentage drops.
After a truck load of battery cycles and recharges and the use of battery ROOT and non-ROOT tools, nothing really changed, the battery level would still plummet half way through the day from deep sleep and would either magically report more charge without a restart or after performing one, the battery must be the problem. I've just now replaced the battery again with this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BATTERY-3...-One-BLP571-/361872340222?hash=item544145b4fe, I saw another post say they had a better experience. I'll report back on this for anyone that may find this in the future.
TL-DR - I don't believe there is a battery of sufficient quality available for the OPO and there may never have been since OnePlus never released any official parts.

let us know your experience with the second replacement. i guess half the forum at this point is cravin for info for a good battery
Success! This battery was completely different, none of the strange drops in charge level at all and has been working fine for a few weeks, no calibration was needed and the voltage is stable. My advice is to avoid the copy-cat OPO red batteries and try to find a vendor has their own logo and reputation on the line. If you look up VHBW they make a lot of batteries for various devices and seem to be consistently getting good/reasonable company/product feedback.

Hi. I have used G1 for 5months and I satisfied it except that battery is too fast run out.
anyway,For 5 months, I have had only one battery.
I know that it's really uncomfortable. but I don't wanna buy another battery.
I used to charge it everyday and it make my USB cab going to come off.
It should be came off within a few days.
I wonder that I get a replacement by free.
P.S. In my case, I can't charge it with turn it on when battery is under 15%.
I have to turn it off and charge it. Is it problem?
thanks!
Just call your carrier and ask. CSR's are mostly retarded and you will get different results depending on who answers the phone. Some may replace it, some may not.
just whine to 611
i got a new one that worked much better than the battery i got on Oct. 22 (opening day) seems maybe the first few had bad cells...
and charge till full the run till dead the first 5 or 6 times you charge, its best to run it till the thing dies, as the warnings are just guesses and the battery much like some kinda power junkie needs to find its OWN "bottom"
then the phone and the battery know each others habits and will get along well for the life of the battery, (which is no where near as long as peeps think)
How many times have you heard "my battery always dies I plug it in every chance I get but it just doesnt seem to last as long as when it was new" you say "how long have you had the phone 3-4 years(same battery)" there ya go
batteries and the chargers made to charge them are more sophisticated than in the good ole' nicad days, mostly because an AA nimh can make a pretty big BOOM if not taken care of properly, you will see alot of stuff that says that all this full discharge -> full recharge stuff isn't necessary with modern rechargeable, you don't have to do it forever but those first few charges/discharges ARE important if even just to make your device aware of the capacity of a new cell.
alkaline - discharge on a nice slow decline
nicad - pretty much the same w/ a bit faster drop on the last 1/4th of the charge
nimh - pumps a stedy voltage unlike its older relatives listed above, but that last 1/4th drops like a stone, (kinda like your car notice the first 1/4th lasts waaaay longer than that last 1/4th, perception is reality, perception is reality)
yea, tmob knows there is a problem, so they musta gave the low level CSR rights to give away a new battery, cause I wasn't put on hold or transferred, and got a new charger, just say you used your voltage meter and talk alot about voltages and amperage, they may come up off one of them also, they did for me.

While I can't find specific references, it is NOT NiMH. It is wishfully LIPO (unstable when damaged), but I believe it is Lithium Ion.
These type of battery do not have the "memory" that you hope they do. The battery and the device will never acclimate to each other through charge/discharge cycles.
I dont know much about betterys so please bear with me if i am being stupid. Why are those 2400mA batteries larger and need a larger back cover. I have some AA batteries that are 1800mA and 2400mA and they are both the same size?

I'm thinking of buying a G1, but I'm put off by all the complaints that it has horrible battery life. Does the cupcake update help this any? How long do people get?
The cupcake update hasn't been released, yet. At first, I had a HORRIBLE battery life, but after calibrating the battery, it's got a decent battery life. I haven't really taxed the phone much, though.
I know cupcake hasn't been released yet, but the code is open and people have already flashed their phone with it. So I mean, "Does cupcake (so far) help battery life?"
You can calibrate the battery all you like .... it's still really crap !
Just as well the phone is soo brilliant at everything else that it doesn't bother me!

from experience, no not really. mind you, the version we have working atm is no where near the finished version. so maybe they'll implement a better power management or something, i dunno.
thats if they ever release the damn thing
The battery just doesn't last on the G1 no matter what you do. You can extend the battery life to a couple days if it sits idle and has the right settings, but that's boring.
This phone shines through use so expect to charge it daily. If you do things like tether, stream music, web browse, constant email/texting, and etc, then I would say keep a charger handy.
I bought an extended battery (2600mAh) off ebay for about $45 and i'm a pretty heavy user with irc, music, youtube, twitter all that jazz and my battery lasts 2 days. Sure it's a little bit thicker, but it stays in a jean pocket all by it self and everything is just great.
I think The battery life increases with cupcake as i flashed the latest cupcake build (sync-ed & build yesterday by me) it usually used to go down till morning when i sleep but today it was 70% left means very much...
Also as i changed the statusbar battery icon to show 1%, 2%, ... 100% i was able to keep track of my battery...
lets see i ll stay 1 more day on cupcake and let u know...
Version 1.1 helped a lot with battery life. Most of the initial complaints were with version 1.0. Most of those initial complaints were also very shortly after the initial introduction when a lot of new units suddenly hit the market -- as with any battery device, it needs time to break in and calibrate itself. Note: cupcake is to be called version 1.5 (there will likely be no 1.2-1.4). Expect 1.5 to have better power management than 1.1, it does have a newer kernel with better power management features, and no doubt many optimizations in userland tools.
how can you calibrate the battery?

Are there battery benchmarks somewhere for 1.1? I've been googling but it's hard to find real numbers and usually they don't mention the version. How much battery life do you get?
With normal use I wouldn't expect to get more than 24hours. I reckon by switching everything off I could double that. OTOH as the phone charges via USB I just leave it charging whilst I'm working - it'd be sat on the desk anyway so the extra cable is no hardship.

By using it.
You calibrate the battery by letting the phone completely die while it is on, as in let the phone shut off because it's out of battery. Then, give it a full charge from the house charger, preferably while not using the phone (while sleeping, for example). Should be done twice a month or so for this phone.
You should know that modern batteries dont have the "memory" that old batteries do.
There is no need to do the above.
They don't have 'memory' but modern batteries still have a break in period. You'd have to probably have a solid battery like thin films to avoid that.

I know that, for example, While it takes 5 minutes of watching video for the battery to move from 10% to 5% it can take 30 minutes to move from 5% to DEAD with a non calibrated battery.
I train my battery every so often. I can get a solid 3 to 5 hours of talking/texting/browsing/downloading/playing games/etc on a single charge.
I don't think its too much to ask for. It's in line with other phones of like capabilities. Upfront people were just pissed that they couldn't sit and play on their G1 for 10 hours a day with no charging in between.
You can't do that with an iphone, itouch, psp, ds, portable dvd, or laptop computer. People were expecting it to perform better than all the things listed, but the only thing technological about this phone is the software. It has the same tech restrictions as every other portable device.
i thought that the new batteries nowadays do not need to be conditioned anymore? that whole break in theory was based on the old nickel based batteries. but now they no longer needed since batteries are now lithium-ion batteries that do not have that "memory state". correct me if im wrong because i always hear both arguments.
Hmm if I remember correctly the actual battery (LiCoO2) doesn't need conditioning or has a memory effect, but its the electrical component/chip that tracks the capacity and over time though repeated charging they tend to "forget" the actual capacity of the battery so you need to drain it completely then charge it completely so it re-learns it again.

calibrate the battery is a joke!
Li-on battery no need to do that!
I know better, but I was an excited fool and started using the G Tablet out of the box after initially charging the battery to 50% or so.
These cells need a good strong charge on first use.
I'm noticing the battery is only lasting for about 4-5 hours on a full charge.
I'm planning on keeping this device for a while and the cells eventually go bad anyway. I'm thinking of replacing the battery..
So I was wondering if anybody has opened the device and seen how the battery is connected (I really hope it's not soldered) and the make/model of the cell itself.
- it would be beneficial to all to know what to replace the battery with later on down the road when it reaches the end of life.

I'm asking for the make/model or any identifying marks.
I can't make any of that out in any of the images in that thread.
Short but powerful,
Without all the blablabla straight to the point. I got ?fooled? by a phone company 's expert(?) who told me this was not going to do any damage to my phone, and refused me to give me my money back after i found out that the battery was not good(the same as OEM z710e voltage ratings) when i came home.
I have a z710e, it came out of the factory in 2011. Original battery specifications:
m/n BG58100 p/n 35H00150-02M (3.7VDC 5.62Whr 1520mah)
The battery triple checked by "Expert" and sold by him is a:
m/n BI39100 p/n 35H00170-01M (3.8VDC 6.08Whr 1600mah)
My phone model: z710e (PG58130) original battery p/n: 35H00150-02M from 2011.
Next time I'll check this stuff myself and don't let those people do it for me. They either don't have any good batteries for this model and just sell the one that actually over volts your phone. Or other batteries and so had in his mind to sell me this and don't care about it, like "oh well who the heck cares, this person will never find out and will return to me when his phones is death". Well I'm pretty sure that this will not make my phone last any longer than a year / half a year or less! And i still need it for a year or longer if possible.
Feel free to reply, but only if you know that what you are telling is 100% correct. Please avoid non-valid information or answers, thanks :good:
I am not a pro either but this just doesn't seem to be correct. Feel free to correct me, if i made any mistakes.

If you don't understand my actual question, then I'm deeply sorry. Often my stories are not so easy to understand duo to my bad English.
The question in a nutshell is simply : Will this higher end battery do damage to the phone and is my story right, i mean is this battery not compatible with my model because it can do damage duo to over volting the ma inboard/soc (because of higher battery output ratings?)

First of all you should search a little bit more to see that the same battery (35H00170-01M) is offered by numerous companies as a replacement battery for various phone models (Titan, Vivid, z710e...) just like the battery from your phone (35H00150-02M) is offered for the same models.
Then, you can find the same battery (35H00170-01M) offered with different voltages, both 3.7V and 3.8V, and the difference of 0.1V will not harm your phone, cause, you can see it yourself, voltage rating for the original phone charger is 5V and it doesn't harm your phone.
And the last, the other data you got for the battery (Whr and mah) mean only that you have battery that should last longer than the original one you have.
I hope I helped...

It indeed is, but i have really bad experience with replacement batteries. And those small 'voltage increases'. They end up to die quicker a lot quicker in my personal experience. And i think it is also the reason why, many sellers don't include my model in the compatibility list. The 3.8VDC 6.08whr version is meant for the XL and titan version witch is actually indeed the same but +300mhz overclocked.

To be honest I have some cheap s**t called Hinorx Extended Battery that's 1200mah (don't know what's extended there but that's what I got when I ordered regular replacement battery for Sensation) and it works really well, can go up to 25-30h with 2h of screen, lots of wifi (ARHD 7.3 with 1,5MHz o/c).
Don't worry about 0.1V, it means nothing. And for life of battery I hope you got warranty...

It don't has warranty. But it's oke. It is a OEM battery they said. Btw it works fine, only had to use another charger with a output of 1.5a. It would not charge otherwise. But well, lets see how long it keeps working.
Haha it seems to not work charging for 5 hours now and still 0% cannot go in cwm recovery and when it starts it will reboot and orange/green led will blink again. I tried to reboot it several times, tried to clean/bend the pins and all the other tips from XDA forum seasrch results and nothing seems to work.. Great =(

Yes i did but it got extremly hot so i switched back to the stock charger. And it actually should be fine? +0.1 volt doesn't matter?
The battery does not hold charge at all. It turns on battery level is 0% and will reboot and do orange/green led indication for as long as you keep it in the charger. When you get it out of the charger and turn it on it will go off as soon as android is loaded up intro the pincode screen. Guy at the store told me the led indication meant that the bettery is at an extremly low level of power and that it just needs to charge some more.
Well i have been charging it for like +5 hours now for sure. Using the OEM charger rated at 5VDC 1A. It is not the cable or faulty charger. If i test the output or on my tablet it works just fine. And with the old battery i'm able to charge it, but the old battery is dead, it does not hold load properly anymore. It drops a lot of times from 80% to 1% in like maybe 30 minutes of usage.
Also when using the GI39100 i cannot get intro adb or recovery..

It is the second brand new battery the guy in the store put intro it.
Both did the same, it just doens't work.
1. Does not turn on (sometimes when lucky)
2. Holds no charge
I did
1. Wipe battery stats (in the end, like 5 minutes ago from writting. It took me half an hour to get the phone booting while charging)
2. The phone started only twice, now it does nothing anymore (with this new bat).
Also the battery info was all wrong.
When i checked the 1st time when i got it on i went to settings > about the phone > status > batterystatus it did show me(i left it nearly 3 hours like this and still 0%):
- Batterystatus: Unknown <----------------- Before battery stat wipe, after wipe still the same, no power on.
- Battery level: 0% <----------------- Before battery stat wipe, after wipe still the same, no power on.
While it should look like this!
- Battery is being discharged (when not charging)
- Battery level: 93% (old poor battery meanwhile after so much testing already full again)
When i put the old battery in place it works without problems. When i put the new one in it doesn't + battery stats are not even readed by android itself and recovery menu stated a warning. "Warning phone is under-volted" or some message like that. And the LED indicator flash in an unusual way (orange/green) this probably is an error code. Well, complete nonsense because i use the same charger. And the XL version has the same 1A charger, so this makes no sense. The battery is just not compatible.
The battery has been charging for almost 13 hours now. And still 0% + orange/green led flashes.
I have no tools here i had to imprevise with crap, gluetape and a doorbell to get a cracky 5 dollar multimeter working, LoL.
here is the bat output;
a 0.08 v 20 3.52v hv 750 0.07 hv 200 06.8 with other words it should be fine to run and maybe get 50% battery level. But it is still z3r0~ when i put it in my phone.
Topic prefix can be set to [ANSWERED]. The m/n BI39100 p/n 35H00170-01M battery works just fine in the z710e. Confirmed to work, even with 0.1v increase (does not produce more heat or instability, like some cheap fake batteries do without protection IC xD)
I went back to the store they gave me another battery and it instantly worked. So i had two faulty batteries. Lucky me again haha....
Probably or the store where i got it from does not test bats and throws them intro one big box or just very very unlucky.
The battery stats now work, no warning in recovery menu and no orange/green flashing in the led indication.
So if somebody has the same issue as me, your battery is 100% sure faulty. And you should toss it back to the re-seller for warranty or if you purchased the parts loose RMA it.
Get or an good alternative non-oem brand like anker. That is sure to be safe and good of quality. And never use fake chargers from like cheap Chinese tabs or phones. Often they have terrible output and this can badly damage your battery/phone because the output might not be stable enough and drops and increases a lot of times, either using a 2A charger does not make any sense at all. It will go just as fast as a 1A charger because the limit is 1A through(in most phones some can have other ratings). Only thing that can damage your phone/battery is if you go over the 5VDC. More volts = more heat = less lifespan. Amps are taken by the device and volts are given.
Confused
The new battery i have now is a BI39100 35H00186-00M. The 35H00170-01M does not seem to work in a PG58130 z710e or i had two faulty batteries... ?
I searched this before posting, but the thread had no replies from January so hoping I can gain some insight and clarification on this.
I am new to Android and avoided it for a long time due to being perfectly satisfied with my Blackberry Q10. However a few years ago, I was intrigued by the original Pixel and knew whenever I switched , if I went Android it would be a Pixel. It ended up being a Pixel 2.
I say this because I spend a lot of time googling and researching before i ask a question to make sure i am as familiar as possible before i ask something that can be found just as fast on my own.
That being said, i can't find an answer to "What is a typical capacity loss over a number of months...?"
I just got the phone in January. Didn't know anything about capacity until i noticed a huge drop in expected battery time after unplugging my phone. It used to be 21-23 hours expected from 100%. Now its only about 10-15 hours, depending on the day. Researched batteries and learned about Accubattery. Looked at the health and saw i'm only at 2284 our of 2700. It says GOOD health..but is that really good health after only 3 1/2 months? Also..unfortunately i have no idea what the original real life capacity was because i never checked until End of March when i discovered Accubattery.
Just wondering should i return the phone or accept this level of battery. At this rate..does't seem like I will get through a year on this phone.
ADDITIONAL INFO - I have used 3rd party charging cables (Nekteck)and Samsung bricks. The cables give me roughly the same amount of juice as the charger that came with the phone ( around 1300 Mah max, more juice if I'm charging from a lower percentage start point )

Stop apps from running in the background. Your WhatsApp, Facebook, Marco Polo, weather widgets, etc are using your battery.

I don't have many running in the back. I don't have Marco Polo or Whatsapp. All my others I shut down to and when I check apps are using very low percentage. But my question is more the battery health reading. is 2200 healthy after 3 months use?
Is the phone battery actually draining twice as fast now or is the battery reporting just wrong?
The phone seems to behave normally, but being I'm not an Android user for long I don't know what normal is. I know things differ phone to phone. If I use my screen and read articles the battery drains fast to me. Compared to others who consider reading as light use. I get "better" life if I watch videos. I suppose because I'm not touching the screen. Streaming I can do for hours. I think what I'm trying to understand is...how accurate and important is a battery capacity reading? Should I be concerned that it says im only getting around 2200 out of 2700? For an almost phone I would think the capacity would be closer to the design capacity?

Take a screen shot of the reduced battery capacity reading and send it to Google's customer service from your support menu in the system settings.
