[APP][MOD] (not so) Faster (and buggy) TouchWiz Launcher [XXLE4]

I saw a lot of comments about how slow the new TouchWiz launcher is, so, because I had already downloaded the ROM, I want to try something.
I'm not using this ROM, so I don't know if it works, let me know.
This is the new launcher, don't be fooled by its name, that's how Samsung named it.
It should be uglier than the unmodded one, but it should be as ugly as the one from Gingerbread, unless Samsung used more transparencies and fancy shades this time (transparent widget should be affected by this change too). Here the explanation.
_______________
Downloads in the next post.
Note:
If you are not familiar with adb, I suggest you to install an alternative launcher first, then copy /system/app/TouchWiz30Launcher.apk somewhere safe, for example in your SD card. In this way, if something goes wrong, you can always start the second launcher and restore TouchWiz30Launcher.apk with a file manager.
At least until someone tries the two zips to restore the unmodded launcher.
No launcher, no way to launch apps

Downloads [apk + flashable files]
There are 4 flashable zips, two of them restore the original TouchWiz launcher.
Read the name of the file, fasterTouchwiz-odexed.zip obviously is for odexed, fasterTouchwiz-deodexed.zip for deodexed.

No one is interested? Maybe you don't like to do things manually, so here some flashable zips.

fasterTouchwiz is here.
(the only one I'm sure it will work is fasterTouchwiz-odexed-restore.zip)
(and BTW this is the launcher from XXLE4)

Well I just flashed the deodexed file, and apply with CW and working EXCELENT!!! Good job my friend!!!.
I have the Clean Rom by Luiseteyo V3.1.... So now I have 2 lanchers!!!!.....
Thks very much!!!!
Edit: Its no smooth as the holo launcher but work very very fast....
I tried on xxkpq. But force closes.
I really don't know how this new TouchWiz launcher is, anyway, I explain what I did in this mod.
(I wanted to know first if this really changes something)
Basically this new TouchWiz launcher uses 32bit transparency, or at least that's what I can see decompiling it:
Code:
<bool name="config_force32BitWindowAlways">true</bool>
What I did was to put that boolean value to false.
32bit transparency makes everything better too look, but it also slow down the UI. Without it, you should see some bands in trasparent backgrounds, it's the little price to pay to have a smoother interface. (In Gingerbread the default setting is 16bit, so you should see these bands)
@vishal
I think there are too many differences. Samsung apps use their own framework (twframework-res.apk) and probably this launcher needs the new framework. I don't think you can simply replace it with the new one. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know anything of this ROM.
Anyway, if you want to see how much this little change can do, you can enable 32bit transparency in GO launcher (it's somewhere in the settings, I can't remember exactly where, maybe it's called "high quality drawing". It's not the same thing, because they are two different launchers).
@machotecba
Thanks for trying this. I'm glad to hear that it works.
TouchWiz30Launcher? Wasn't it TouchWiz4? Will test right now. Thanks for ur work
I tried this in and there seems to be a lot of performance increase.... As always, your mods are simply incredible...

I don't think I'll do it now, maybe in the future. I did this one simply because it was fast and easy to apply.
If you want to try again, here I posted the links of some tutorials.
Anyway I think that sooner or later these mods will be ported to this ROM and if I'm not wrong, someone had already ported something, I can't remember where are the links, maybe in XXLE4 thread.
Hey losnosc!! I am using the tested 'n' worked version, but i have a little issue: when press home, the screen goes black during a 500 msecs and then goes desktop. It's normal??

Tested, but not by me
I think that the problem is that there's a transition application->desktop that does a large use of transparencies and because of the 16bit what should be semi-transparent is solid.
It's just a guess, I flashed this ROM for 5 minutes just to fix the WIFI, I didn't even try this mod.
If that's the problem, I could change this behaviour.
So let's try something (this one too is a guess, I don't know if it works or if I changed the correct thing): fasterTouchwiz-experiment-deodexed.zip
(flash the old zip in case of problems)
___
EDIT: Samsung could have at least changed this
Code:
const-string v0, "GT-I9000"
with Cm9 there in no reason to use samsung roms!

[Q] Transparent settings on Nexus 5

Hello everybody!
I saw on YouTube a video with a nexus 7 (i think) whit transparent menu settings. In my opinioni it's beautiful!
So i ask to you if there is someone who know how to get it Because i can't find anything on google... It's a custom ROM? I prefere to stay with my original ROM of KitKat... But my device is rooted.. So how can i do now to get this beautiful transparent menu settings? Thanks

Most likely, since kitkat does NOT come with transparent settings menu, you'll need to modify the apk that contains the menu settings. It i very difficult to do so without possibly messing something up and having a nonfunctional ROM. My advice would be to try and see if any ROMs have this prebaked into them or, worst case, search on how it was done. Most likely, if custom ROM open source, they will have their code tree source posted on their site where you may be able to pull the code from, modify to the nexus 5 sources necessary to run on this ROM, and then try it out.
Try Mahdi ROM, see if thats what you're looking for.
you mean like this? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mix3d.theme.hologlass.beta
You will need a ROM where you can change theme, you can do that in cyanogenmod as example.

[Q] theme chooser custom rom

Hi ,
I'm trying to build a custom rom for the jiayu g4 with as base stock kitkat rom.
Now, I would like to add theme ability to the rom. Not with xposed framework or such, just a theme chooser like in the xperia and cm settings.
Can anyone help me with this? The intension is to have such setting (or app that I can link to settings) to easely change the theme.
If there's an option to do this, but specific for my kind of phone (so no theme's exist yet), I wouldn't mind theming a bit. In that case I could provide the users with 3 or 4 different UI collours and different icons or such to choose from.
Thanks,
Louis

You could try adding the Cyanogenmod theme chooser into the ROM and offer some themes for it but that isn't device specific as such. That would most likely be the easy option where something else could take a lot of time though.

Hope this helps

How can i add the Cyanogenmod theme chooser into the ROM? Isn't the cyanogenmod theme engine built in in the framework and very difficult to add to a ROM?

It is built into the framework and requires an AOSP based rom. Also the version for that OS had a ton of issues that were never fixed as it abandoned for the newer setup

So you're telling me I must not try to add the cyanogenmod theme engine? What would be the easiest way to add some theme's then? It doesn't have to be theming like in cyanogenmod or such. Just changing the theme collour from as example black to blue would be enough for me. Then I can provide them with the themes black, blue, red, green or such.
Thanks for taking the time to answer

To do what you want you would have to rewrite all the base framework files and add everything in by hand. To be honest it will be far more work then it is worth. Your best option would be to make flashable theme zips, where you change all the color options to each and every single apk in the rom.

wouldn't it work to just change the systemui or such so the status bar, volume pannel, settings etc change collour and maybe some icons (like wifi, bt,..)? And then I could search for an app that automaticaly flashes zip's, that way the users just need to choose the theme they want and the phone does the rest himself?
Or is there a way to implend xposed modules into the system so I can use XthemeEngine without having to install xposed module? Or implend xposed framework and XthemeEngine in the ROM so you just flash it with the rest of the ROM? But in that last case, it maybe would be stupid to do the work for it as everyone can easily find out about XthemeEngine if they realy want to apply some themes. Plus xposed and XthemeEngine would be 2 apps taking space in the drawer and memory wasting for the users who don't want to theme..

Well thats the thing. The volume panel color shares its color with the rest of the menus in the rom, The settings is set by the settings apk and the icons are scattered across a ton of different apks. Some in the framework and some in the system ui.
The xposed route is up to you. I find no use for xposed myself.
Ill be honest there is no easy way to do this. What you want to do takes weeks worth of work even for a single color theme. This is due to everything being cross linked to everything else. You change the color for say the clock then the color changes in 50 other places as well.

100s of NEW Themes Available NOW! Need a tester plz!

Hey guys just need a tester to verify for me that my Theme Park or the individual themes I've ported work for the Note3 as well. Theres over a 100 to choose from: You must have S6 Apps or be using an "S6 Ported" ROM to have really good results otherwise results may very as to how well or full the theme will appear.
100+ THEMES FOR S6 PORTED APPS ON NOTE 4, 3, S5& S4
Individual Themes (a directory, download a zip and flash in FlashFire or Custom Recovery)
If you cant get a certain app to theme its more than likely not a good port. I recommend Albe95's Ports their great!
I also would like my Theme Park tested it does a little more than just visual theme:
dOPE Layers Theme Park
You can use the Theme Park no matter what kind of ROM your on because theres themes for Lollipop or for S6 Lollipop!
to Install download the .zip and run through Custom Recovery, it is built with Aroma!
Thank me if you enjoy, I helped you or donate if you want more releases like this!

in the theme park theres previews located in the Aroma directory of meta otherwise you can check out original thread for a few screens... or you can google the "theme name" + S6 and you will probably come up with a few screens. until I know for sure this works for Note3/4 & S5 I wont be doing much for screenshots.
anyone that tries it please post screens for future use and if you try it please post results and what you installed here for now! THANKS!
