[Help] Texts made from other programs don't show up. - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

Having a bit of problem texting. Everything works fine on the phone itself, but if I send a text externally (ether via pushbullet or tasker)the message goes through, but it does not show up in my message history. This happens whether I have the included app or textra set as the default. Any way around it?

Not setting what default? Clearing defaults so I don't have a default texting app?

Does anyone have the Handcent and Quick Settings apks?

They don't show up in the Market of the rooted stock 2.1 ROM for some reason. They are the only 2 apps I've had problems with.
Edit: Here is Handcent 3.0.
Here is Quick Settings.
Handcent link dead
When I search for handcent I find the font packs but not the actual app, very odd indeed since I think I previously was able to download it.
Edit: Here's a link that shows that the makers of the app are having a problem also.

old .apk
Hope this is in the right place. I got a new phone and the updated handcent on the market now only auto converts to mms after message exceeds THREE message lengths. I thought i remembered it converting after it exceeded only one message length. Am I wrong? And if I am remembering correctly, does anyone have an .apk of one of the versions before the change?... preferrably the last one. Thanks.

So what are the quick settings for?
Qick Settings, as far as I see, give a shortcut to things like notification settings for handcent, but I see no area for changing auto-convert settings
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA App
Quick Settings is just an app for changing things like system volume, wifi, GPS, etc.

You have to disable notifications on the one you don't want to see notifications from. This is not the best explanation, but it's as if your messages get sent to one location where any message app can read them. Essentially, both apps are still looking for notifications, therefore, notifying you twice.
I have look

He's not talking about double notifications. He's talking about incoming messages showing up twice INSIDE of the app.
Here's an example

Wow, i see what you mean. That does suck. I was responding to this but decided to test for myself.
I've been using Go SMS since I got the phone last tuesday and I never had the issue. I installed Handcent and tested (now I have stock, go SMS and handcent). The very first message I sent to myself from my wife's phone I got double messages as you experienced. I sent myself five more and I did not received any more doubles. Not sure what it is, but this was the first and hopefully last time I'll see this.
Did you uninstall all the third party messaging apps and test to see if the issue goes away?

You can use Titanium Backup to freeze the default message apk. That seemed to fix the problem for me. Always backup the apk first!

[Q] aosp messaging app

I got tired of confusion and sensless updates of hangouts. I have Nexus 5 stock with Xposed rooted. All I need is the old sms aosp app that would allow me to send/receive sms/mms and have the option to make text bigger because I have eye problems with small fonts. I installed this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fr.slvn.mms&hl=en from google play but it does not have the option to make text bigger.
Where can I find the apk or the app itself?
thanks a lot.
You can pull it from any AOSP ROM.

Google Dialer from Android N Preview 3 working on Moto X Pure Edition

Just a heads up this seems to be working again.
Got the apk from here:
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...phone-3-01-08_rc8-android-apk-download/#notes
It installed fine.
Then just went to Settings>Apps and disabled the old Dialer.
Finally, went to Settings > Apps > cog button > Default Apps and set Google Dialer to default.
So far I have not seen any issue.
Please let me know if you find any.

This please.
Caller ID, it allows you to search for local bussinesses, block phone numbers and more.
Why does this one work on non-Nexus devices and the versions before didnt? Maybe they finally consider releasing it for all devices now.

Is it not just a Beta Version of this app?

Probably not.
Also, the other versions didn't install since they were suppoused to be only for Nexus and Google Play Edition devices.

Confirmed working here.
Looks and works exactly the same as 2.5.11_rc8 although there appears to be several changes in apk file.
How is this compared to http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...p-google-dialer-2-32-google-contacts-t3263859. ???
I think you need root for that. This app is latest(ish) version and has Call Blocking and Google Caller ID.
Previously you couldn't install this Nexus only Dialler on other phones hence needing root.
But this version escaped Google somehow and simply installs like any other apk. A day later they realised their mistake and made it Nexus only again.

disable camera sound?

anyway we can disable the camera sound in 3rd party apps like whatsapp? I put the phone on silent and it makes the noise.
You can try rooting and disabling it manually in build.prop.
You can't do that now without rooting your device.

yeah it's a 3rd party app. It's Whatsapp and actually seems like any 3rd party app has the sound. tried Open Camera and same thing. a bit annoying when taking burst shots.
was hoping to avoid rooting for now. don't have time to do it yet but guess it's time to root and play lol.
Whats the procedure after rooting to do it?
