[Q] App for working with notifications? - General Questions and Answers

I am looking for an app that can make it possible for me to pick and choose which notifications a particular app will show, and which will not. I'm not sure if that is even possible... I have this app that I don't want to shut off notifications on entirely; there's just one that I'm tired of seeing, because it notifies me of something I'm already well aware of, and does so constantly. It's just a swipe to dismiss, but its icon is the triangle/exclamation deal, and I don't like seeing it in my status bar. Having been a PC tech for almost 30 years, seeing that icon can be anxiety inducing!
Maybe I should learn to code, lol

If you have Xposed then Xnotifications will do exactly what your asking.

Oh pity, as I'm running nougat. Until Xposed works on n, I'll need a different solution.

Some custom ROMS give you the option to hide specific reoccurring notifications by long pressing the particular notification then hitting the snooze icon that comes up.

Yep, but not this one it gives me app-wide options, but not specific to the one notification. Oh well.

[REQ] "Edit" Button in Notification Window

Would it be possible to place an Edit button into the Notification Window, For example, next to the Clear Button which clears all your notifications? What it would do is let you edit the Notification bar how you want (Change Notification colors and things like that). I know you can already do that in the Spare Parts App In Superbad CyanogenMod but I was just curious if that was a more convenient alternative.

If you ask me, thats already extremely convenient. You're lucky you have the option to do it from the phone.
I prefer it the way it is=p it would be annoying having to see that every time I get a text...
On the other hand, adding some sort of editable region on top of the notification bar could be a neat idea. Like for example, I would put a toggle for brightness so that I could have easy acess to it without needing to go to home and use a widget. The behold 2 and galaxy s have this little power control thingy in the notification bar to toggle brightness, wifi, gps, etc and it would be cool to port that over.

that would be sweet!
The only picture I could find of the behold 2 was in the pdf manual It's small and on page 10 if anyone cares. http://support.t-mobile.com/doc/tm30312.pdf
I think a shortcut to spare parts from settings would do the trick.
How about putting the power control widget on the notification bar next to the operator name? That would be cool and convient.
What I wouldn't mind seeing is a button on each notification for selective clearing of notifications...
Specifically on the G1 when I'm installing many apps from the market then I have unread emails and sms, I want to clear up all the installed notifications without wiping all the notifications. :\

I'm in complete agreement. If there was some way to have selective clearance of the notification area without actually launching said notification, that would be fantastic.

I am in agreement with both of these! I'm starting to learn Android from the ground up and if nobody beats me to it, I'm gonna work on this.
Well Im glad that me posting this has made some positive ripples in the community.

[Q] Disabling Some Notifications

Hi all,
On Sprint Stock OC9, and rooted.
I am wondering if there is a way to disable some of the system notifications like "Charging... xx minutes Until Full" or the "Location Set By GPS". These are rather unnecessary. The GPS icon can stay but I don't need a notification along with it.
I'm sure there's others.. but those are the two driving me crazy right now.
I hear you on the Location Notification. Also don't like the keyboard switcher either!
I didn't even notice the IME wasn't an option in Language and input. I know on AOSP ROMs you can show and hide that one.

Remove keyboard switcher simply by disabling the other keyboards. I'm only using SwiftKey and that's it.

Go into Settings->Sounds and Notifications->App Notifications. You can then turn off notifications on a per-app basis. For some apps, you can actually long-press on the notification and change the setting.

I think the ones I want to disable are all from System UI.... and there are no options...
Ah, I see. Yeah, might need a special root app for that.

Annoying alarm icon in top bar.

All of sudden showed up today on my op7pro. Anyone knows how to get rid of it? My alarm is off.
I know you can disable it in status bar- icon manager but this is not a case. I didn't have it before.
Settings>Display>Status Bar>Icon Manager>Toggle Alarm.
Edit: I missed that second part. Have you tried enabling and disabling an alarm? If that doesn't work, Icon Manager might be the only way.

I know I can so it but my alarm is off so it should not show up in status bar, right? Ones alarm ia on icon will appear in status bar. That's the way it should be, right?
Try clearing data for alarm app maybe.
Looks my alarm is up for monday 11pm. I wish I know how to disable it.
BTW... I tried to clear data, I even disable it and still this icon is there.
I have no clue what 3d picture means.
What program are you using to get that many notification icons in your pull down menu?
I had the same issue and figure out that Tasker was causing this issue - this device only, never had a problem on a Samsung or a Huawei.

Go into the apps permissions and change notifications silent without icon. I think should work
Toggle off notifications. Better wording

If you're using a non OEM alarm app go into app info and select notifications and verify that it's toggled off. With a shot. Think it would work truly
Had the same issue. Found out, that it came from the next event from 'do not disturbe'-schedule of a notification app (Plus Beat in my case). Really annoying...

Question WTF is this little stick figure icon on the left/notification side of my status bar? UPDATE, screenshots and found out what it is

Every now and then I'll see a stick figure icon on the left side of my status bar by the clock and on the lock screen/aod in a bubble.
when I unlock the phone or pull down the notification panel any info disappears.
Anyone know what this little guy is for and how to get rid of him?
and the screenshot is.................? kinda hard to help if we don't see what it is..
The only icon I can think of that resembles a stick figure is the SMART THINGS icon.

It;s a stick figure, like the stick figure that was coming up on peoples nav bar on 8's and 9's for accessibility settings
it looks JUST LIKE THIS ONE IN THE PINK CIRCLE without the dots under it but its a icon by the clock
When you need a hug. Push this. That makes you more accessible.
here are screeenshots, I got it in action.
It has something to do with one of the apps I enabled in accessibility mode.
Anyway to stop the "check access settings" little guy notification from coming up

If you tap on the icon and bring up that app's notification settings, there may be an option to never notify for accessibility notifications.

Thanks, no clue then. It must be one of the apps, maybe the Galaxy HZ app having access to screen as it shows the stick figure in the notification as well. Check the app in Accessibility settings and try disabling it.
Also, what is the other app with moon and glowing clock? (screenshot attached)..looks cool

Weather neon, TONS of customizations for it, from dozens of widgets of all sizes down to changing colors of every piece individually.
that's just the notification one I liked but there are a ton more, and a big main one with different clocks
it's worth checking out, some stuff is iffy with it tho

My stickfig has a purpose, I can dim the screen at night or brighten it up. The icon comes up when you slide out the 'stick'. You can park this feature anywhere, to enable go to 'visibility enhancements' >>'extra dim'(screenshot is from S22)
So I'm guessing you can disable your stick figure somewhere there as well.

Question AOD notifications

Sorry, me again!
I'm working on the notifications, and how to get them coming through, I'm on MIUI 14 now. I've got the always on display set to 'on' and to show notifications. But they don't seem to be showing for some reason.

Probably not very useful for your case but on MIUI13 I have no problems with AOD notifications. everything appears there.
Have you enabled all the apps in Settings>Notifications and Control Centre>Lock Screen ?
I think they are connected with the AOD ones...

I popped out for a bit this morning, and Strangly, I had a missed call, and text notification waiting for me. Seems to take a bit of getting used to the notifications on this, some apps only notify when I open them, even if they're set to lock screen.

MIUI Battery optimizations...
You need to disable this for every app you need consistent notifications. Hold your finger on the app icon and then select App Info. Then scroll down until you see " Battery Saver" Change it to " No Restrictions" for all the apps you need. Also from that page, you can enable the Autostart option
