[Kernel][Nougat]Qualia Kernel for Surnia ver 1.0.7 Stable / 1.0.8 Beta - 02/01 - E 2015 Android Development

Hello all, this is your friendly neighborhood bored basement dweller, i wasn't going to even make this thread since I'm a super noob, but i figured why not since some people might want a stock kernel with like sound control for instance.
This will be my first kernel I every made and posted here so i present to you Qualia Kernel.
Now, you may be asking yourself? Who the heck is this guy?
Well, I'm a fan for customization, but keeping close to "stock" as possible, so for all intent and purposes, this kernel won't add too much to have a huge feature list for the sake of having one.
Notable features in Lite:
-- based off @vnai kernel sources (big thanks)
-- built with UberTC latest prebuilt.
-- MSM Sleeper
- -WESTWOOD TCP CONG is default
- -Dynamic Fsync
-- KCAL V2,
-- If using AOSP ROM you an still use apps like CF Lumen if here is no live display.
-- USB Fast Charge
-- Sound control
-- Patches from other kernels for smoothness ( @franco @squid @flar2 @alberto)
02/01/2017
-- Added permissive mode
-- check the changelog via commits nothing major changed from last beta
-- Changing philosophy as follows:
> Now there will be two versions Qualia lite and Qualia full:
>> full will contain all compatible hotplugs and features with variety of choices.
>> lite will contain minimum "best" features with limited choices.
I>>>all previous changelogs on github
The beta will contain all the requests from the thread from a few days ago, so if you wanted intelliplug and all that wait a few more hours.
Tested on:
Lineage OS, RRemix and AOSCP. Should work with others I don't see why not, but again back up back up!

A big shout out @animania260 for even making my consider making my own kernel. Hopefully, i don't forget others who

Great Work, Going to try it at night

I'm using this kernel also on AOKP-mm-6.0.1 and seems to work well, but we see in the coming days how it behaves. Thanks for your work :good:
Edit: lacks the USB fast charge, please you can insert this?

Its work perfectly fine & smooth on aoscp 3.5.1 08/01/2017 build

Surely it would be great to have USB fast charge in the kernel

Okay let me see what i can do.

Very nice! You figured it out. I'm glad you didn't wait for me, I've been way to busy. The kernel seems great so far. A benchmark score with the default settings was excellent. We'll see how actual use goes.

Flashed, Thanks For such an amazing kernel
& Will use it as my daily driver kernel

@mykenyc
I just flashed the latest build of ur kernel and found out that Fiops isn't enabled by default I had to switch to it. Also do I enable it for both internal and external storage?
Thanks for this kernel. Also I wanted to know if F-Sync is enabled as I read somewhere it isn't recommended.

Yes I will check for FIOPS and for dynamic sync I will use disabled as default.

Ok I got my facts wrong. It turns out it's bad to disable F-Sync not enable it.
Sorry for inconvenience. It turns out if u disable F-Sync the storage speed will be faster but there might be chances of data loss.
Again I'm sorry

It's okay, the feature itself is experimental from what I read, so when i initial enabled it i didn't have settings to change the default from yes, now I do, i updated the kernel. To dismiss confusion it i will be 1.0.2.

Awesome work

The - latest wifi ROM- version you uploaded in the CM12 thread also includes your kernel as presented here?
Is it possible to include colour profiles in the kernel? Love it on my nexus 5! Looking forward to seeing this move forward
Also is there a rest of world lte version in the works? Thanks

Yes, I always compile CM 12.x with my kernel version. The 12.1 is totally experimental.

Take note for colour profiles but I don't know how complex it can be... I'll be studied, sure.
About LTE RoW (wx_un_do) vs LTE US (wx_na_do) they are totally compatible as @Steel01 and me have seen. I have LTE RoW model and actually use wx_na_do compilation. In the future, perhaps, we will create a specific branch.

I will be away a few days so a lot of sleep time for the tablet Will report
Here's some cpu state time info for u. 51mhz is deep sleep right?
With CPU Spy you get how long the device is in deep sleep: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011497
Cpu spy capture for u. I've been running it like I stole it all day.
I don't have installed CPU Spy but BBS reports that it sleeps like a baby.
Got a spare apk for bbs by chance?

Just wanted to let u know the mic issue was a gapps thing, the minimal edition has problems, went back to pagapps (the final 03/15 one) and if I flash this kernel on steels cm12 it works perfect. No sound fc either. The ONLY issue I found is moving to SD. Still says no room even after the folder mount patch. Battery is great btw, thanks much for the work

[KERNEL][CM/AOSP] Mono Kernel (31 July)

Mono Kernel for HTC One M9 (Hima)
Let's start this off with the basic and regular warning and disclaimer :
Code:
#ifdef (IF_YOU_FLASH_THE_KERNEL)
* No one except you chooses to flash this kernel, this is your [B]own[/B] choice
* Do not flash this if you expect stability that equals to a stock kernel
* Neither me or XDA is responsible if the kernel destroys your device
* No cats harmed during the creation of this kernel
#endif
Mono Kernel is a kernel made with simplicity and customizations in mind, I never wanted a kernel with gazillions of "bloaty" features (governors, schedulers, etc) that gives me uneasiness since there's too many choices to be made.
Technical details :
If you want to know about the toolchain and stuff I used
- Compiled with Google GCC 4.9 (pre 21-07-2016 releases), and UberTC 4.9.4 (21-07-2016 release and newer)
- Built on a SlimROM source tree
- Little to no weird optimizations flags, I'll avoid adding -Ofast, -O3, Graphite or anything related to them
Features :
Some bits of features that you'll see
- Latest upstream kernel, currently on 3.10.102
- zzmoove (bLE edition) and elementalx governor
- FIOPS and SIOPLUS scheduler
- Configurable thermal control
- Toggleable CRC and Dynamic Fsync
- USB Fastcharge
- UKSM 0.1.2.3 (Ultra KSM, an improved KSM)
- KCAL v2 (post-processing control for display)
- state_notifier driver, replaces earlysuspend and powersuspend
- Franco's Sound Control
- zRAM support
- Mini-bits of somewhat-safe (but not necessarily stable) optimizations
- Lots of updates and upstream works from various sources (CAF, Google, and Linux)
- And probably more
Bugs :
- Possible bug: Stereo channels are reversed (left to right and right to left) (False report on my side)
- None, at least for now
Download :
Get it while fresh!
AndroidFileHost Folder
Installation :
Please read all of this before continuing
For .img format (Slim6 only) :
IMG is deprecated as of 12 July release, please use ZIP instead
- Download the .img and put it somewhere
- Reboot to recovery (I'll assume you're using TWRP here)
- Press 'Install' then press 'Install Image' (located on the bottom-right side)
- Locate the .img
- Make sure you select 'Boot', not 'System Image' or 'Recovery'
- Swipe and install, but don't reboot
- Reinstall any Systemless mods (Systemless Root, Xposed, etc) if you have one
- Reboot and wait for it to boot!
For .zip format :
- I mean... you probably know how
- Just flash the zip
Compatibility List :
Check if your ROM is compatible
- Tested on Slim6
- Working on CM
- Possibly working on RR

Notes :
- Mono Kernel will always remain on 'testing' phase, mostly because I tend to screw up and break stuff, so I don't warrant any stable release, unless otherwise mentioned
- This kernel is working on CM (and possibly other ROM based on it)
- Nope, I have never tested this on any other variant of the M9 apart from the International variant
- Yes, no hotplug support for now, I'm still experimenting with hotplugs on this device

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Q : I want "x" and "y" feature to be added in this kernel
A : Sure thing, I'll give no promises it'll be added, but if I find it interesting (and usable), why not?
Q : Hey, can you fix "x" issue ? (if you provides no log or details whatsoever)
A : Please, give me more details, how can I reproduce the issue on my side ? If I'm unable to reproduce the issue then can you please provide more details to the issue ?
Q : What logs are needed to give you an exact information of my issue ?
A : /sys/fs/pstore/console-ramoops, dmesg, and any kind of kernel logs (not logcat) you can find
Q : Will this work on "x" ROM based on AOSP / CM ?
A : Probably, it might or might not work, test it out by yourself
Q : Will this work on stock or any Sense based ROM ?
A : Nope and probably never will, but I'll reconsider that if there's enough request

FM and IR module ? I'm pretty sure I didn't use both, so, the answer is probably no, let me double check just to be sure
EDIT : IR works fine using "SURE" Universal Remote app, I'll check if FM works
EDIT2 : Double checked whether IR works or not, it works with both my TV and air conditioning unit, so it's definitely working
EDIT3 : I don't think FM is working, I've tested with the CM FM Radio app, and it can't open /dev/radio0 (the device for FM radio), I'll see if I can find a way to fix it
AWESOME!
I'll be testing this ASAP! Thanks for this kernel!!! I assume it's MM Compatible? I'm using cm13 and will post any results I have after testing it out for a bit. So glad for this :good:

Yes, it's actually only compatible with MM (unless the changes from L to M isn't that huge, I might be able to bridge a compatibility between both).
Have you experienced better battery with the kernel compared to stock? I remember when I was using the cm kernel and got really bad SOT thanks to the frequencies jumping all around all the time..

Hmmh, I can say the battery usage is pretty on par with stock (I get an average of 4.5 hours of SoT, on stock it's roughly 5 hours)

Eagerly, but patiently awaiting.
Thanks for all the reports on CM13 !
I can't test it out on CM myself because I really need the phone to be on a somewhat stable condition, but I'll be fixing it soon !
Hello everyone !
A new update is up now, it should fix CM compatibilities. It's also in AnyKernel zip format (no more tedious .img flashing).
For complete changes, you can check the source link (I'm not going to write all of them here), but it's mostly just changes I merged from CodeAurora / CAF and Google, there's also some more optimizations in code.
The download link is here or in the link in OP
Happy testing !

Until I add Synapse support, I recommend this modded Kernel Adiutor, the regular Kernel Adiutor works fine but it doesn't have all the control necessary for the kernel
Glad to see some movement on dev-kernel section!! I have been using Smoocha kernel for a while and return to stop again since the support is abandoned.. I could help and test this kernel on CM13 (since is now compatible), I am a cherry-picked addicted.
It could be great seeing working with Uber 5.x-6 toolchain, this is the only thing that I really envy of Nexus 6p.
Many thanks for your support and contribution :good:

Thanks Yo so Much Bro.
@ZawZaw How did you get process reclaim working properly. Many other kernel devs have abandoned it because it caused a race condition in the kernel. Just curiosity. I've got much respect for you and I'm glad you were able to build a kernel. It's nice to see developers continue to grow and progress. Keep up the amazing work.
f2fs
kernel does not boot with f2fs data and cache, not even with data only it does not boot. This was used with jolla's twrp and pure nexus rom as base, can confirm other kernels like franco and jolla booted up and worked fine with data and cache formatted to f2fs, if you can take a look at that? thanks.

I will push code at tonight.

Hey you are back with your own kernel!
Nice!
But there are an "errors" in your description:
-you invert last update and created date (22and 21)
But thanks a lot!
Now I think the best you can do is an all in one with all your work (so your customs roms in one, your sound mods, your substratum theme, your fonts and finally your kernel) ?
Good job bro!
PS: the first thing that people are waiting for a custom kernel for our device is battery as our device is quick enough even runing on low frequencies with the governor set on conservative and scheduler set on noop so yes as I say more juice more fun.

Guy on this device runing on lower frequencies don't save more battery as it runs on same voltages(see franco kernel thread) and overclocking?! You feel that your device is runing slow ?! Really I don't trust you...
No features of a kernel on nexus 5x are more battery but not by underclocking.

Yes better battery life is welcome but underclocking to 302 GHz don't save any battery.
But optimisation of performance are not really needed.

Charging is fine here.. Don't use your phone while charging....And also there's a bug going on in which charging connects and disconnects automatically delaying the charging time....

Currently bugs on roms bro... Not kernel
Sent from my LeEco Le 2 using XDA Labs
Everything is working great for me so far.
Can you please add 160 or 200 MHz as min for GPU. And 200 MHz as min for CPU. These will improve battery.
Also under battery section, add a control to tune battery charging current to control fast charging.
Hotplug section needs to have more controls to tune accordingly.

[KERNEL][OTA][AOSP/LOS][CLANG-7.0][4.4.138] CodeX Kernel v1.2 [July 1, 2018]

Introduction:
CodeX makes your device even snappier than before. Being a battery and performance balanced kernel it never compromises on stability. You know why? Cause your device deserves it! CodeX main priority is battery. More Juice equals More Fun.
Introducing the new CodeX Kernel Updater, which downloads the latest builds available from the remote server and flashes it automatically! All you need is network access to download the latest builds from the app. Then just click the Flash Kernel option in the navigation menu to flash the kernel. This app flashes the kernel through TWRP automatically and reboots your device with the latest CodeX Kernel
Rules that CodeX follow:
Be up to date with linux-stable
Stability and Security are at peaks
Features will be added based on Stability (If some feature breaks the stability, then I'll need to break it)
Have fun. And yeah, let me know if you need any feature. I'll always consider user opinions. But as I said, If that feature breaks the stability then I'll consider removing it!
Okay, time for most Interesting part, FEATURES!
Features:
OTA
More Juice
Built with clang-7.0.2

Dirty Ratio tweaks
Adjust swappiness to 40

Disables dm-verity
AnyKernel2 Flashable

Version 1.2:

FAQs:
1. Can you add xyz feature?
A. As already said, I'll always consider user opinions. But as I said, If that feature breaks the stability then I'll consider removing it!
2. Why the app needs internet for loading changelog or while flashing kernel?
A. Well, the app tries to load the latest changelog available in the remote server. And regarding flashing kernel, it makes sure that you're flashing latest version of the kernel.
3. Battery drains a lot! Damn CodeX?!
A. I've added most of the battery patches to the kernel. Still if battery drains faster for you, then consider either calibrating your battery or use an app like BetterBatteryStats to know what's causing the drain. Alternatively, I suggest using Greenify.
4. Which ROMs does this kernel support?
A. Have a look at the title. Only AOSP/LOS based ROMs. Though you can try it on MIUI, but you may face bugs
5. Why does the app says CodeX not found?
A. Well, I made this app to work exclusively with CodeX Kernel. I may plan to support other kernels in the future.
6. App Force closes on clicking Flash Kernel?
A. Make sure that you have your Updater in the system.
7. Red Wolf Recovery doesn't flash CodeX while in recovery?
A. No, as of now. An update to the RedWolf Recovery is needed to fix this.

Can you try to unlock the cpu/gpu freqs? I know the 636 is just an 660 underclocked. It would be awesome if we would atleast be able to clock our gpu higher than the stock 430mhz. It's pretty slow(gpu)
I(for one) don't really care about battery/sot. Everything that's past 6 hours is ok for me, so I would love to be able to clock my gpu a little higher.
