Alright I've done some searching with no luck. Just flashed TWRP and have attempted to install supersu via twrp several times with no luck. Everything appears to work from TWRP but it doesn't actually do anything. I thought it might be because I didn't have 'allow 3rd party apps' checked but that wasn't the issue.
Haven't tried with fastboot because I read it interferes with TWRP somehow.. Has anyone rooted 7.1.1 not using TWRP or have any suggestions of what could be going wrong? Appreciate it.
It should be as simple as flashing with twrp and that's it. Do you have twrp RC1 and SU 2.79 SR 2? I've seen a lot of people trying to use older versions of SU because the original post in that thread hasn't been updated. The newest version is 2.79 SR2
Just download the SU 2.79 SR2 zip and flash in TWRP. Make sure you're using TWRP RC1.

Have you flashed this the way TWRP suggests:
first flash twrp via fast boot s you are using twrp but have not really fully installed
Then flash Twrp from TWRP
then flash SuperSU = latest - make sure you are using TWRP RC1
I had no problems flashing TWRP or ROOT following this process....I have also successfully backed up and restored several roms without any issues.
good luck
Yeah, are you using the ( can't remember the designation) or the RC build of twrp. Get the RC version. Also, don't restore backups from the ( pre RC version) with twrp RC 1*** ..

So I flashed a new ROM and when I tried to access recovery so I could factory reset + add gapps it keeps bootlooping back into the ROM
I checked ROM Manager and it said that I had TWRP and CWM installed, so I tried to flash a new version of CWM over but it did not solve the problem.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks in advance!

Next, are you rooted? If so please install a working recovery (not using ROM Manager)
I'd suggest using Goo Manager to install TWRP.
yep I'm rooted and trying to install recovery through goo manager now, hopefully it will work
EDIT: I tried installing recovery through goo.im and pushing it using adb
it still thinks 2 recoveries are insatlled
Hi
At the weekend I tried to update my TF300T from CM10.1 to CM10.2. That didn't work as I ended up in a boot loop. Then I thought, maybe I need to flash the latest system blob.
So I did that, only to find that I then couldn't install anything from zip or sd card as the recovery would not mount anything at all. Still got fastboot, so I've tried TWRP 2.6. TWRP 2.5, TWRP 2.4 and CWM, none of them will mount anything at all.
So I find myself with stock ROM, but no way of rooting or installing any custom ROMs.
I'm sure I've made a bloop somewhere, so all suggestions to resolve welcome!
Thanks
Rob
What is your bootloader? Sometimes, if you reflash the same recovery, it *may* work properly the second time around.
I am using TWRP 2.6 with my 127.5 bootloader, just for your knowledge.

That was the tip I needed - I knew I had the right bootloader but I had downloaded the wrong TWRP (I had flashed the JB version instead of the 4.3 version). Doh!
Now flashed CM10.2 and is running Android 4.3. CPU-Z tells me I'm rooted though at the moment I can't get any root apps to work with SuperSU. I'll leave that for another day!

Anybody use this app to install a new recovery? If so, before you run the recovery install it says something about a patch that it needs to install. Anyone have any success with this method of recovery installation?
I was having issues yesterday but today it worked. You must be s-off in order for the patch to work.
Also TWRP might crash but it installs recovery.
At least it did for me.
I've read a handful of posts of people having trouble with TWRP manager. Flashify seems to be more reliable and I'll always advocate for flashing via fastboot above all.
I haven't had any luck with the app. It keeps crashing.
I have ran into a problem and came here for help. I was on Android 5.1.1 and I wanted to try omni and a slimsaber build of omni so I tried to flash with 2.8.7.0 and could not get it to boot, tried for days. So I wanted to try the recommended recovery, 2.8.6.0 and tried through fastboot, flashify and toolkits. And I am unable to change recovery. Fastboot flash results in a loop to the OnePlus Android logo but flashing 2.8.7.0 is a quick fix for that but it's the only recovery I can flash. I have never seen a phone not take a fastboot partiton flash. I have flashed back to stock.. Flashed OOS you name it I tried it. I know others have had this issue but never seen a fix posted. Anyone?
I have a .zip that can be flashed on TWRP v2.8.7.0, so as to get TWRP v2.8.6.0
I'll upload it if you want me to. Thank me later!
~noob (you gotta start from somewhere)
Download the img and when are you on the twrp, change zip to img and will appear the img and it will be possible apply it. Its really simple.

To change TWRP version, to upgrade or downgrade, you just have to download the Flashify app from PlayStore and let it do the job in about 10 seconds, without any issue :good:
Did anything work? I'm stuck with the same problem, except on 3.0.2.0 and downgrading out of the question I can't even make any other recovery work!!!
On the OnePlus One, was trying to flash Jgcaap's MM build.
There is no downgrading or upgrading like matters. You can flash any version of twrp via twrp, FIRST GO TO YOUR TWRP AND FLASH 2.8.6 OR 3.0.2 . BOTH HAS FLASH ANY ROMS WITHOUT PROBLEMS.

I already tried. -.- Wouldn't ask if I didn't run out of options.
The flash doesn't work, instead my recovery disappears and I reboot to system directly. Facing problems gives you experience, man :| Not a n00b here.
I found a typical kinda work around by trying this and that. Gonna create another thread to ask, now.
I want to update to the new 12.1-YOG7DAS2K1 and I haven't found any tutorials or anything that really actually helped so could anyone tell me how I could do it and keep root I tried just going and updating with TRWP but I got an error which I think it because I'm using the latest version of TWRP which I can fix that but I can't find anything saying if I will lose root or stuff like xposed if I update
If I'm not mistaken, the full flashable zip is not released yet, so your best bet is to update it OTA, which will remove root. You can then re-flash TWRP recovery and SuperSU to regain root. I can't comment on Xposed as I don't use it.
I always believed in not taking OTA updates while rooted. I know it's different with cm and o²os and all, but it's just good habits. Wait for a twrp flashable of the update

OTA will never work on a rooted phone FYI. You need a stock system with CM recovery for it to pass the OTA checks and for it to successfully flash

Can I just flash it without reseting and keep all my apps and what not or do I have to do a reset? Also this will reset Xposed right?
You can flash this via twrp recovery

You can backup your apps in titanium backup after flash above ROM you can restore them.
Official cm 13 came up. Aren't you know ? That can also twrp flashable. I get in CyanogenMod website.
I flashed one of them and got it updated no apps reset or anything have everything along with Xposed and Root
https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=bacon would the newest nightly be the right thing to do and I don't really know what has changed in CM 13 anything removed that was big?
