There is an Xposed module for that.
I haven't tried it yet on the S4 and the download site is down ATM.
You can also try the MoDaCo Toolkit, that has that module in it too
I'm interested. It was very useful in my Galaxy S3.

Thanks. I downloaded and installed MoDoCo toolkit Pro. Clickec to activate the NFC. But nothing happens.. Even it did not ask me for root access... maybe does not work on i9505? Anyone tried it? here is the .apk file https://www.dropbox.com/s/a868pkg3hcy76nc/com.modaco.toolkit.apk

Could be, this is from the MoDoCo change log:
Note that the NFC on screen off functionality is tested against AOSP and may not work if your device manufacturer has fritzed with the NFC code a lot.

The module is loaded at boot, so no root access is being asked for that. The Xposed installer will need root access though.
Also Xposed requires a specific order in how to install thing.
First install Xposed installer, than install/update from the Xposed installer and reboot.
Then install the module, MoDoCo in this case, activate it in Xposed and reboot again.

I can confirm that it works. I installed the xposed framework, then I installed the modaco toolkit. I then enabled the NFC screen off module in the modaco toolkit; then I enabled the module in the xposed framework and rebooted the phone. Works like a charm!

An alternative to Modaco would be nottach's xposed module for the att gs4. I'm using it on my t-mobile stock rooted galaxy s4 and screen off nfc works just fine, as well as several other features. Here's the thread, detailed install instructions are in it as well: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2285074

Hi there, I'm on Omega v11 - ZHUDMH6 with Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505 . I wonder if your older version for screen off would work?
is there also a mod for the Galaxy S4 mini (i9195).
I want to use the nfc in standby!

Not switching to ART

Hello guys!
I am a happy owner of a brand new Nexus 5.
I am trying to switch to ART, my device reboots but it's very fast and it remains in Dalvik.
I am using stock ROM, Xposed Framework and Franco Kernel.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
You're using xposed. This had been asked many times

Thank you for your reply. So, Xposed is not compatible with ART? What if I uninstall Xposed, enable ART then install Xposed back? Could it work?

Xposed is not compatible. You can't uninstall it, enable art and then reinstall it.

Xposed is not compatible with ART no matter the order you enable each. Remain on dalvik to use Xposed or uninstall Xposed to enable ART
sometimes, you might need to re-install Rom to enable ART after removing Xposed.
It seems like this question is asked daily. Xposed Framework doesn't play with ART.
As stated. Please search before opening a new thread.

[Q[ Is there any way to remove screenshot delay?

Yeah I know about the "Screenshot delay remover" Xposed module but I'd really like to do it without any module, maybe changing some system propierties or stuff. Help is welcome!
Yes there are , You must be Rooted .. just install Xposed and Search for Screen shot Delay from Moudels and Active it

I said that I know about it, but I'd prefer to do it without modules; thanks anyway
I'd like to do the same. I'm rooted, but don't want xposed on my s6..
without planning to open another thread, i will post here
I am trying to use this module on my lollipop, custom rom (dr.ketan L23) for my note 3 sm-n900
but still experiecing the issue

[Xposed] Popup Window MOD - Launch Floating Windows from the sidebar tray

Here is another simple module that I have been using for quite sometime now and decided to share finally while we are all waiting for lollipop.
I just call it POPUP WINDOW MOD (to make it sound a little new ) which enables launching of apps in Floating Window mode from the stock multiwindow traybar like it is in the Note 4. This version will work only on Note 3 devices with stock Samsung 4.4.2 roms.
As this is an xposed module, just download, install and activate it in the xposed framework installer and reboot.
A single CLICK on app icon will launch app in POPUP WINDOW. Dragging app icon will launch app normally/splitwindow.
Hi
Just to report, it works perfect on stock XXUFNF4 (N9005)
Thanks for your work and sharing

Working great on N900!
thank you so much for this
thank you!
Some fc's in the first open but then everything works great!! N9005 stock NI4
Thanks man
(Is there a way to have black themed multiwindow tray?? )
FC.
Hi @xperiacle,
I am on Note 3 N9005XXUGNG1, with Stock ROM, rooted and Xposed enabled.
I am getting the FC as shown in attached pics.
I tried clearing data for com.android.app.flash services, but still same error.
any work around to fix this issue?
Thanks.
EDIT:
Working fine now.
After first installation it was getting FC.
So here's what I did.
1. disabled it in xposed module and uninstalled it.
2. Then reboot.
3. Installed once again and enabled it in Xposed
4. Reboot.
It will work.
EDIT 2: Adding additional Apps into Multi Window using Wanam Xposed module will not work after enabling this module.
Thanks.

I think there's an uninstall xposed zip you can flash, should get you out of the bootloop so you can uninstall the mod, then reinstall xposed if you wanted to

Enable every App for Multiwindow on S7 Edge (xposed needed)

Hello guys,
just for the ones that are interested, that the App from here ( [Xposed] Multiwindow Apps Manager ) can enable every installed app for multi window.
It needs xposed! Tried with framework 80.0 and xposed app 3.0 alpha4. S7 Edge SM-G935F, germany.
MfG: Specktäter
Did you run into any problems on the S7 Edge with XPosed?
No problems until now

Which version of framework 80.0?
Compatible Xposed for S7 Edge is the Modded version by Wanam.
Correct Variant is ARM64 / SDK 23 (v80)

Dear Specktäter,
I'm very interested in this theme, I used this function on my note 4 on every day.
I try now one s7 edge and unfortunately I can not use this on that.
I have one S7 Edge SM-G935F international version with stock rom.
I tried with actual framework v84.0 and xposed app 3.0 alpha4.
Maybe I make it something wrong, because I was checked all programs in the MW Apps Manager, but I can't use all program in multi window mode.
Please help to me.

Try to disable the missing Apps, reboot (not from the MW Apps Manager but the Power menu from your phone), enable the missing Apps and reboot again. I have installed some apps after MW Apps Manager, they was checked but did not show in the Multiwindow Chooser. After disable and enable they showed up.
Good luck!

Multi-Window
To get all apps working in multi-window does not require xposed framework or any of it's modules.
Just about every S7 Edge custom rom already has the "all apps in multi-window" feature built into it.
Check it out!
Good luck,
Have a great day!
worked perfectly .. thank you very much
