[APP][4.4+] SMS4warder - Forward your messages and missed call notifications - Android Apps and Games

Since Google decided to remove this application from Playstore, I will keep it updated here
SMS4warder provides a quick and easy way to forward your incoming SMS messages to a different phone number.
All you have to do is to set the "forward to" number and enable it.
Optionally you can set the app to start on boot in background so you don't have to start it manually each time you reboot your phone.
I developed this app because I have two phones and I don't want to carry them both with all the time. I hope you will find this app useful, too.
Please let me know if you have any suggestion, I will really appreciate it.

So i didn't try you app yet, but im planning to. Next week most likely.
Is there a way to delete the sent (forwarded) SMS from the phones Sent messages?

Hi,
Sorry for not replying until now. I have uploaded a new version of the application that has the feature you requested. I had to rebuild the app from scratch so it will install as a different application than the one you already have installed.

[APP][MOD] LightFlowLITE Sms off only when read

Hey fellow xda-ers!
I love and use the LightFlowLITE app from rageconsulting found on the Google Play store, i absolutely love it!
However, if i were to receive more than one SMS, i would reply to the one SMS but not the other, my notification light would turn off. So i modded the apk to check if ALL the SMS are read before turning off the light.
i have tested this with GO SMS and it works perfectly. I do use the Accessibility service option, as if i don't it won't shut off my light. This being said, it should work with Stock SMS apps. If not, just reply with the SMS app you are using, ROM, and device information and i will see what i can do. Thanks everyone!

I do plan to add this into the main app (really old versions v1.x actually did this, but it went with contact specific notifications to being based on what was viewed instead of what was read as many people leave conversations as unread and got confused to why it wouldn't clear.

Thanks for planning on adding it! Really love this, keeps me from forgetting to reply. And im not sure what you mean by "people leave conversations as unread" if you open the conversation, it marks the message as read.. and by default, i think if you have an unread SMS it still keeps the LED on. Anyway, can't wait to see the update!

[Q] Android 4.4 Hangouts SMS issue

Hi there,
My first post here, although I've hung out, anonymously, looking at the resources within the forum.
Today I received my Nexus 5. It's a lovely bit of hardware, but I've come from an HTC phone (4.1.1 Desire X) and I love the Sense UI; just so you know, I hate stock 4.4 thus my post below is in utter exasperation
I'm having an issue with trying to send an SMS. Unfortunately, I have to use Hangouts (I refused to update from Google Talk on the Desire X) and I'm finding that I can't sending a frigging SMS to a colleague at work because I have his Gmail email address as part of his contact details!!!
This is absolutely the most retarded thing in a Phone OS that I have come across, ever. Unfortunately, as an early adopter of this phone, I'm stuck without an alternative. So far as I can see, in Hangouts, I would have to type in the phone number manually whilst being logged out of my Gmail accounts in Hangouts to send an SMS, or maybe deleting the user's email address would suffice.
Am I missing some way of sending an SMS that's not completely obvious here?
My N5 arrives tomorrow, so I can't be much help with the app itself, but if it's really confusing/awful you can download an alternative SMS app from the play store and set it as your default.
Edit: I hear you on hating hangouts. I cant stand the version they have on 4.0/4.1/4.2/4.3, been sticking with talk also.
I don't have it in my hands yet to test, but I'm fairly sure once you've opened the "new hangout" window, you can tap on their name on the upper left and switch to SMS from Hangout message.

This app simply uses the word "Hangouts" over "SMS" so basically new hangout means new text message unless you specify a hangout chat. If the actual hangouts for either is unavailable then a text message will be automatically sent to the number. New "SMS" is the plus button and you can immediately type the number or scroll to find your contact. Everything after seems to work just like iMessage.

Seems to be the downside of having the device nice and early, noone else has one to confirm the issue.
Unfortunately, the other apps don't seem to work as they have to be rebuilt due to the changes that 4.4 has introduced

I'm not sure what problem you are having. I just got my N5 today and when I create a new message in Hangouts and choose a contact (one that has a gmail.com email address as well as a cell number) I have the choice between starting a chat or sending an SMS to the phone number. Do you not see this?

I've never had an iPhone, which I'm guessing from the name is where that messaging application comes from. I tried to send a message to a collegue, and it sent it as a hangout, not an SMS. There is no option not to send it as an hangout, any more so than there is an option to send the message as a hangout, so I can't send him text messages.

Okay, yes, if I type in the person's name I now see several entries for the person, one is the Hangouts account which is top and the other is for SMS.
However, if I scroll down and select the person as I was doing originally, even though it says his phone number, it defaults to hangouts and you can't change it.
I don't have particularly many people in my contacts list so I prefer to scroll and select, as it's probably quicker for me, rather than type into the search box.
you need to verify your phone number before being able to use it for sms
hit the plus button and add a contact...then select the contact's name from the top of the screen (next to the green handouts icon), and choose their phone number instead of their email address

Quite aside from not wishing to verify my number with Google, I shouldn't have to. SMS should be completely devoid of this kind of requirement as it is very basic mobile phone functionality.
I have spent quite some considerable time today turning off location services and and any data sent back to Google. I've also been disabling certain Google Apps and would disable more if it would let me. I've also found that App Ops seems to have been disabled too, so I can't even control what third party apps do; which was part of the reason for getting a 4.3+ phone.
At the moment, it seems that I can send messages, and hopefully something like Contacts+ will be updated to work with 4.4 and I can then disable Hangouts.
you can disable hangouts now, you just need to install an alternative sms app if you don't like the default...try Handcent

So install your own SMS app...4.4 allows you to use any SMS app as the default App, and then you can even uninstall Hangouts if you want to.
That's the beauty of a Nexus device.

Sorry, I'm just angry that Google have just foisted the Hangouts app onto 4.4 users when it clearly isn't user friendly enough and makes one of my most common uses of the phone difficult.
I'll try Handcent. Contacts+/Messages+ doesn't currently seem to support 4.4 as you can't set it as the default messaging application and you can't send outgoing messages (It looks like you can send messages but they just disappear and aren't sent.)

The issue that I'm having is that not a lot of messaging applications support 4.4 yet. And as I've found with Messages+ if it doesn't support it you can have issues with messages that don't send/disappear.
You can uninstall Hangouts updates, you can't uninstall it. And if you uninstall the updates, you can't disable it.
Sliding messaging was updated to be compatible with 4.4, you can try it out

I'm with the OP on this, I received my N5 today and it's almost impossible to start a new SMS conversation from within the app.
The app itelf is quite nice, but the SMS experience is sub-standard to say the least. I know I can go install another SMS app - but that's not the point, it's like shipping the phone/software with no dialer in it.

I must be a brain scientist or a rocket surgeon or something... all I had to do to create to new SMS was click the "+" then start typing my contact's name or number. If my contact has a phone number associated with it I can select that for an SMS or their email for a hangout message......
Im confused and whether i understand your question properly. Anyways in the actual recipients message you can click their name and switch from a SMS conversation to a google talk/hangouts message. Not sure if that helped or not. You can more clearly see what i am talking about in this video. http://youtu.be/0ZFc3NFqfFk

I've just tried to send an SMS to my mum, on her contact card she has a mobile number and email address. When I try to send a message, at the top I only have "Hangouts" as an option.
If I try another contact (who does have a G+ account), I have the option of SMS or Hangouts.
I also discovered Now SMS recently... Very nice looking simple UI that fits with recent Android conventions. Using it on my Nexus 7 3G since it didn't come with any SMS client.

Internet permissions are required for Google Analytics only, but we will probably remove this in next version (I understand that some people may be concerned that an application that works with contacts requires an Internet connection). We don't send any private data from your device to our servers or 3rd party servers.
Hope this helps. Have a nice day.

Hi, thank you for reporting this issue. Validation for phone number format has been removed in some 1.0.x version, but we were validating length of phone number (max. 15 chars). Ahem, a dumb question, if it's covered in docs, I apologize
Is there a way to actually execute a call, rather than, have a screen with 'call' button pop up?
IN my usage, I just want to send the ussd string/dial the number at scheduled time with no further interaction
Of is not there, what do you think of such option, do able? Of any real use, worth considering?
Thanks again for the app, and, your help.

Looking into this further, apparently the carrier won't allow final digit included in the string, it gets ignored, and, needs to be entered 'interactively', so, my 'automated' used might need some interaction...

[APP] SW2 Notifier.Send all of your phone notifications to the watch

Hi!
In the last month we developed an app to send all the notifications that your phone receives to the smartwatch2.
It uses NotificationListener Service instead of Accesibility, so it only works on Android 4.3
Personally, Accesibility permissions are very compromising for an app that only send notifications to the watch, and that's why we started developing an app using the new NotificationListener Service.
The app will grab all the text of the notification (not only the tickerText) and will send it to your phone. You can also mute some applications (i.e. PowerToggles post notifications every few seconds) and set a period of time when no notifications will be sent to your phone (ie. During the night)
The link to the app is:
Mod edit: Removed paid app link
We also have a Free version of the app. In this version you won't get all the text in the notification in your phone, you'll only get tickerText and you cannot set periods of "Do not disturb"
Hope you find it useful.
Hi!
I tried many different apps that bring notifications to the sony smartwatch. I'm currently using a HTC ONE with Sense 5.5/Kitkat 4.4.2 and most of the notification-apps have at least one of the following problems:
-) no smilies in whatsapp notifications
-) the sense mail app groups notifications as soon as there is more than one at a time, so if I get one email and 5min later another one, the notification on the phone and on the watch as well just shows me something like:
sender1
subject1
sender2
subject2
but I can not access the content of the emails... the content is only available as long as there just one new email... I don't know if the notification app can do anything about that, but it's something that bothers me
-) some apps don't allow me to exclude certain services like the htc backup service from notifying me on the watch because there is no dedicated app for that
-) some apps don't allow me to scroll through longer notifications
what about your app?

AFAIK, SW2 doesn't have Emoji in its charset, so any notification app won't show that emoji characters. We are working in a workaround transforming some emoji in an alternative which can be shown by the watch

Our app will send to the watch all the text contained in the notifications, instead of sending only the abbreviated text which is what some other apps do.
This was one of the motivation behind our app. We wanted to read the whole email in our watch so we developed SW2 Notifier
I cannot tell you about HTC sense mail app, but I can read full mail text in Gmail, Google's mail app and CloudMagic (which are the clients I use). I think that the situation will be the same in HTC sense clients, but I cannot tell you 100% how that will work.

You can select which application notifies you in the watch and which not. You can leave htc backup service out, and it won't send any notification to your watch. So that's a yes, you can filter out any app you want.

If I understood you well, yes you can scroll it long way down in the text of the notification. I.e, If you receive, let's say 10, messages in Hangouts, you can read them all.

I just tried out your app and here's my feedback:
-) it would be great to have an option to define if the notifier should by default enable notifications for a new app-notification or not (as it is now you have to disable each app you don't want to get notifications from and you have to wait until you receive a notification from that app, so for a while you will have to open the settings over and over again to remove an app from the whitelist)
-) unfortunately I have the same problem as with all the other notification apps when I receive two or more notifications about new emails, attached you see two screenshots that show what I mean... as you can see the watch just shows me that I got two emails from "Kamil" and both have the subject "Test2" (if you scroll down on the watch you see just another line telling me that Kamil sent an email with the subject "Test2"), but I can not see the content of the emails (the content is only visible when I have just one email-notification)... this happens with the HTC-mail-client and with the default android-client as well... maybe the notifications-grouping is a sense feature?

Thanks for trying the app and thanks for the feedback!!
We take note about that, we'll add that option to settings, in order to deactivate notifications by default.
About the other comment, did you try Free or Paid version?, In Free version we don't send all text of the notification to the watch only what Android calls "ticker text" which is the text you can read in the notification bar when you receive a notification.
In the PRO version, we send all the text which is contained in the notification (if you swipe down in the notification it will expand and will show extra text, and all that text is what we send to the watch).
I use Google's default mail client (have a nexus) and even though in the notification bar i cannot read whole text, in the watch I can read all the email.
I tried the paid version, it looks like as soon as there is more than one email notification the notification doesn't contain the email text anymore but just the sender and subject of each email

Hi,
I bought the PRO app yesterday, and from a quick test I am very satisfied with it. My biggest problem with others was that they couldn't show extended notifications of Hangouts, and this one does it nicely.
So, great job!

Yup, I can avoid installing 2 or 3 apps by using this one. I am liking it!

Congrats on the development and thanks for contributing to the SW2 community.
I am experimenting with the Pro version. Interesting the way you need to turn off notifications only after your phone/watch have a notification from that app or service (as opposed to WatchIt where you can do so when you first install WatchIt). I am running 4.3 on my phone, so I reckon I am the right target market.
Does seem to show more content on some notifications, but like others have also reported, if your phone gets a number of emails and notifications at the same time, SW2 Notifier only lists them out and provides the same amount of content in the list as WatchIt. Same is true with Google+.
Its a small $ investment and hopefully encourages people to develop for the platform, and its a nice looking extension. Don't know if it is enough of a difference to get someone who already has WatchIt to switch to SW2 Notifier. Since WatchIt is free I believe, and also works well with 4.3 phones (benefiting from same notification access), I think the SW2 Developers need to do something more to replace WatchIt.
btw, I am still trying to find the perfect notification extension. I use a few (WatchIt, Watchify, SW2 Notifier) to receive email, Gmail, and Google+, and the stock extensions to get Twitter, Facebook, Messaging, Slideshow, RSS, Missed Call, Music Player, Calendar Reminder. Seems the stock extensions that are dedicated to a type of notification still seem to work a bit better than the WatchIts and other broder notification extensions. Fortunately the SW2does not limit the number of extensions (apps) like Pebble does.
A suggestion would be good to select what notifications you want upfront as opposed to case by case as they come in.
Trying the free version. It's splendid so far. One "issue" I have is that I use Hangout and when a person sends me one message, its fine but if they send another afterwards and I didn't check the first, it comes up as 2 messages.
It would be nice if either my phone or watch could read the messages seperately but it doesn't which is a bummer. Other than that, its great!
ok, I've bought pro version, but it is as good as annoying. After 15 minutes of working I can have over 30 messages on my watch. Offcourse I've switched off non neccesary notifications, but for example for deezer I've got triple multipled notifications. Also really annoying are 'ghost notifications'. On my phone i;ve got 0 notifications, but this app shows me some empty notifications without any message. How can I rid of that?
Thanks all for using the app. It started as a personal need for us but it turns out as a useful app for everyone. We are carefuly reading the comments in order to improve the app in future versions.
There are some interesting things we'd like to comment.

Some other users have requested this also. We'll do it for the next version.

In Free version, the text sent to the watch is shorter than the paid version, sorry. In the paid version you should read the whole hangouts notification including messages.

Thanks for the feedback, we've been noticing something similar. Android notification system is a little bit messy. Sometimes, the notification service notifies the app saying, "hey there is a new notification posted", but it is not. Filtering these notifications out without affecting some others is not so easy as it should be. We are working on that in order to provide a better experience.
Hi there, I bought youre PRO version, nice app, IMO only missing one feature, a feature that lets you set a delay between notifications of the same app, eg when a app fires multiple alerts, it would be nice to get only one buzz on your wrist
I agree to some previous post, have an option to have the new notification services disabled by default
So I've been using this app now for about five days. I've pretty much got most of the notification apps for the SW2 all except Watchit were unreliable. I'm glad to report that this app hasn't missed a beat. I've replaced Watchit with this one. I'm really looking forward to the updates! Finally a decent competitor to Watchit!
Hi, i send an email for you, i perchasede your great app, but this app has a problem and not good for persian and arabic language users, because this app cant show notification with persian/arabic language and show persian text like???? , another app like augmented smart watch pro show correctly persian text on smart watch 2, please add this feature in next version

i have 4.4.2 and it works ok. Sometimes maybe a little bit too many notifications
Does this app currently support or plan to support in the future, features similar to those shown on Android Wear smartwatches. For example being able to select archive on gmail notifications.

Message Forwarder - SMS, MMS, and Call Notification Forwarding

Thread for the Message Forwarder App. This is a good way to reach the developer with any questions, concerns, or feature requests you might have in mind.
What is Message Forwarder?
Message Forwarder allows to automatically forward incoming text (SMS) messages, multimedia (MMS) messages, and phone call notifications to any phone number or e-mail address of your choice. Just tell the app what kind of messages and calls to handle and where to send them to, and Message Forwarder will take care of everything from there.
- Specify phone numbers to filter the messages and phone calls by.
- Specify phone numbers or e-mail addresses to forward the messages and call notifications to.
- Set up thorough and flexible manipulation rules to automatically modify the content of the messages before being forwarded. Very useful for those coupling this app with automated systems that make use of keywords.
- Attach information of the original sender or caller on the forwarded message.
- View a history of the messages forwarded, along with all their attachments in the case of multimedia messages.
- Specify days of the week and times of the day in which messages and call notifications should not be forwarded. Very useful for those not interested in forwarding messages during off hours, like weekends or weeknights.
- And much, much more.
Looking forward to hearing your feedback.

PS: I am a satisfied user of the app, Just giving my inputs to the forum.
My Simple review: I am looking for an app that can forward selected SMS from (secondary)mobile to email and found this app.
Feedback:
The app is easy to setup with step by step screen, DEV had well thought the flow of the setup.
I don't find any unnecessary permissions that can misused.
Each time by watching the 10sec ad APP provides 170 quota to use the app. No need to pay upfront ($5 for onetime purchase)
Few options I like in the app:
Able to forward SMS/MMS/CALL LOG
We can forward from ALL/SELECTED contacts and have Single or Multiple Targets (email/phone)
Use of FILTERS/RULES & Scheduling.
Few requests/suggestions to DEV:
I feel the current permission request steps are confusing and user may miss few of them. It will be easy if app can request the required access step by step while setting up the app.
Provide section/option for required access if user missed granting while setting up the app.
Kudos to the app developer, appreciate the efforts. Thanks for sharing with members.

Out of all the permissions the app asks for, a few can be moved to earlier in the configuration process (Read SMS, Receive SMS, Receive MMS, Send SMS, Read Contacts, Read Call Logs). Some others must stay in the end because they are required regardless of what options the user picks during the configuration process (Ignore Battery Optimization). I do agree the experience could be improved if we move the ones we can. I'll take a stab at it soon.
The user does get an explanation of why each permission is needed, but only if they chose NOT to grant it in the past; as in... "I see you didn't grant XYZ permission when I asked for it. I still need it and here is why". I think we should leave it that way for simplicity. If we move the permission requests to their respective steps in the configuration process, it should be obvious to the user why that permission is being requested. If they reject it, then the app can start giving explanations why they are needed.
The app also notifies the user about missing permissions through a system notification when it cannot do something because of the lack of such permission. It also gives the user a reminder whenever they visit the app and a needed permission is still not granted. If the user misses any permissions, they find out sooner rather than later.
For now, I can at least move forward with the permission request relocation mentioned above. I'll let you know how that goes.
Great start! I upgraded to Premium but it is not taking the upgrade. What should I do?

Thanks for the quick response!
Excellent app.
But, a few caveats need to be filled quickly.
1. Provision for SIM selection of SMS forwarding (should be a part of each rule).
2. The developer has already implemented setting Sender ID quite nicely (inclusion/exclusion) on screen no. 4 of config.
- But, it lacks the ability to find partial matches. For example, I have been receiving messages from +4456874***, the last three digits can be dynamic. I want all these messages to be forwarded.
- Take another example. all SMS received from number containing ****8808** is to be forwarded.
- In short, please make provisions for matching Prefix, body, suffix of a sender ID.
3. SMS from custom sender IDs (sender ID that contains a text string, instead of numbers) was not forwarded.
- Example. I keep receiving "service messages" from UKING***, BRISRLY* etc.
- With the current version, its not possible to create a rule for forwarding these messages.
- Please implement partial matches (as described above) for custom sender IDs too.
It has been a wonderful effort already.
Big thanks to the developer.

Hi,
1- I've been planning on implementing dual SIM support, but unfortunately do not have a dual SIM device to test this on, and the Android emulator does not support it either. Would you like to volunteer to become an alpha-tester of this feature with your device?
2- I'll consider adding some sort of pattern matching for this. I first have to think how to make it user-friendly (not require knowledge of RegEx or anything like that).
3- You should be able to type in any kind of alphanumeric string in the contacts screen, and the app be able to handle it just fine. Are you saying that's what you did, but when a message came in, the app did not process it?

1. For Sure.
2. Take your time
3. Exact match works. any bit of deviation ruins it.

That's great! Could you send me a private message with your e-mail address? I will send you the alpha version of the app with the Dual-SIM feature when it's ready.
Hello there and thank you.
1. Is it possible to enable delivery report for sent messages?
2. In Dynamic Content config, I want to search for a specific keyword and if found, forward the message. If i leave the "replace" text empty, it will erase the keyword from message. It's good to have a checkbox to disable text replacement.

Hello there.
1. Delivery reports for SMS seem trivial. I'm not so sure about MMS though; I can't find any Android documentation for it. I'll have to look into it.
2. As far as the Dynamic Content, you can simply retype the keyword in the "replace" field. Essentially this translates to: find "my-keyword" and replace it with "my-keyword"; effectively leaving the message intact.
Regards.

Hi, the latest version (1.3.0) was just released and includes these features.
Older Version
I really like Message Forwarder and it has work perfectly for me. BUT my work phone is VERY old and the current version of Message Forwarder will not work. How can I get an older version that will work with Andriod 5.1?

Hi. I sent you a private message about this.
The app stops forwarding after 5 or 6 messages. Unfortunately this app is exactly what I have been looking for an I have not been able to find a replacement.

Hi. Do the failed messages appear in the app's Messages Screen? Are you forwarding to phone numbers or e-mails? If e-mails, what proxy account are you using? Outlook or Gmail?
Message Fowarder
I was forwarding to 2 email addresses and one texting/ phone app. When the messages did get forwarded they did show up on the message tab. If they were not forwarded they did not. I am using a Gmail proxy. I changed my configuration to only my Gmail account. Thank you for quick response I hope this is an easy issue to rectify.
