i want to unlock my bootloader and i went on the Sony website for unlocking bootloader on xperia xa devices but i ran into an issue halfway through the instructions. when the website told me to copy the fastboot driver winusb.inf into the sdk-usb_driver then go to device manager and update the s1fastboot driver with the usb_driverr folder an error message came up saying the hash for the file is not present in the specific catalog file. The file is likey corrupt or the victim of tampering
is the fastboot driver not working?
do i have to install another fastboot driver and where?
please can someone help me, i don't know any technical stuff about android phones but i really want to unlock my bootloader so that i can root my device.

Hello!
So I recieved my new phone today, and of course the first thing i want to do is gain superuser access. However upon trying to unlock the bootloader, I come across some issues, and nothing is pointing me in the right direction.
so I thought I'd ask you guys, seeing as you've been helpful to me in the past with my kindle fire.
Checklist:
bootloader stated as unlockable: Yes, quadruple checked
software version 18.3.C.0.37: yes
android SDK and fastboot drivers installed: yes
device recognised on fastboot devices: yes
android version: 4.4.2
Phone turned off and in fastboot mode: yes.
Unlock computer details:
OS: Windows 10 professional
Driver signature enforcement: disabled
now the problem arises when executing the unlock command following the official sony guide
'fastboot -i 0x0fce oem unlock [code hidden]'
when executed, within a tenth of a second, it returns with an unspecified failure. it just says FAILED: Command did not succeed.
flashtools gives a similar error.
the phone boots up and works fine following the failure.
I'm assuming the bootloader wasn't previously unlocked, I tried checking via a "device info" command but the command timed out with a "too many links" error. that and it was bought semi new from Curry's/PC world.
TrackID still works as well, so I'm assuming all is well in bootloader land.
I can realistically only assume it's either the battery life being too low (56%), triggering a failsafe cancellation command, OR it's a driver incompatibility with windows 10 and that i need to install a linux partition. however, i've never seen this command fail, my old Xperia M unlocked AND rooted without a hitch, but that was an old android OS being rooted via windows 7.
Any ideas of what's going on and what to try?
I appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance.
if you require any more information regarding the phone or PC, please ask away
http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/
and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2743694
flashtools will be easier, but I'll go with the official one just to be safe.
Thank you, but if you read my post again, you'll see that I've been trying both methods you've linked. And these methods are what I'm having trouble with.

I've followed both guides to the letter and I'm still not sure what's up.
I'm not sure if you've misunderstood something, I'm not looking for how to unlock the bootloader, just for a reason why it's not working as it jolly well should.
Are you sure the bootloader can be unlocked?
D2303,18.3.1.C.1.15 kk, deodexed, debloated, rooted, philz touch recovery, bravia engine 2+x-reality+z3 super vivid, viper audio, xposed mods.
Hey,
Yeah, I'm absolutely sure it meets the requirements that Sony asks for. And I've just checked again, the bootloader is unlockable according to the phone
Thanks!
Zee
Solved: Incorrect imei
hey guys
I noticed that the unlock code was 'odd' it contained two zeroes at the beginning and it set off my autism, compared to other codes I'd seen, two sequential zeroes at the beginning of the code appeared to be an anomaly. so I decided to check on the off chance if my IMEI was inputted correctly or not.
It wasn't, I had confused two numbers when typing it in, I received the correct code and unlocked it succesfully via flashtool.
I can now confirm that my bootloader is successfully unlocked, and I would like to pass on the cautionary moral of the story, which is:
Use the IMEI which is provided by flashtool in the second stage of the unlock process.
Thanks all!
Zee

Your english is just fine, do not apologize for it. And use spaces after "." mark.
So to the point; you cannot. Bootloader can ONLY be unlocked if you can access your phone, so basically you have to turn it on and do stuff within the OS. So no. You cannot.
BUT you could try the official dload -firmware update method. Just google it and you are going to find a lot of matches. For me the dload -method did not work (after my phone got stuck in bootloop after the official OTA upgrade to Lollipop. It should go under the warranty so I'm fine. Gonna send it tomorrow.) But since what you've done will void warranty, you can do nothing. But don't worry, since you can send it to a local Huawei shop etc. and they can fix it. But you gotta pay for it. Something about $30 if it's only a firmware flash and about $150 if they have to change the main chipset.
If you can get it into fastboot mode you bootloader unlock it using ADB with a PC.
You need your IEMI number, serial number and product number to get the unlock code from the Huawei web site. Emailing them is pointless. The phone doesn't need to boot to it's OS at all. If you can unlock the bootloader, flash a genuine ROM from dload folder of SD card or flash TWRP recovery via ADB then install a ROM from SD card.

How am I supposed to get the product number? I thought it required the phone to function properly and to turn on. Plus http://emui.huawei.com/en/plugin.php?id=unlock&mod=detail is always down. After logging in it gives this "We're sorry but the server is busy..." error.
I want to unlock my bootloader for my sony xperia xa f3113 but when I got to the step where you update the driver on device manager-other devices-S1Boot Fastboot-update driver software and I select the usb_driver folder it says error the hash for the file is not present in the specific catalog file. The file is likey corrupt or the victim of tampering
I followed all the steps from the sony website on how to unlock bootloader but I don't know why it is not working
Can someone please help me?
Hi guys I have a OP 7 pro bricked (boot loop), I try everything to un bricked, that is why I ask for any help. I use msm tool and install several zips but when the tool finish it still have the same problem, I can access to the fastboot mode but my bootloader is locked, so I cannot try the fastboot method cause my pc won't recognize when I connect my phone in this mode (I think that's because I need to have enable usb debugging).
I've got bad news, if your bootloader is locked and MSM tool fails you will most likely have to send it in as it will no longer be easily fixable, I unfortunately had this same issue on my OnePlus 8 and learnt the hard way.
You said that you "cannot try the fastboot method" because your PC won't recognize your phone... did you install Oneplus fastboot drivers correctly? You should be able to access your phone in fastboot, even with bootloader locked.
Try with another PC too. Just my 2 cents, sorry if this doesn't help you...

First thank you for your time.
I though that too, but i didn't do it , maybe is because I read that in order to use this method (fastboot), oem unlock and usb debugging have to be enable on my OP 7 PRO
Ps: today I'll try again whit another pc, maybe it works, I think the Qualcomm drivers, adb drivers and OP drivers are a nightmare, who knows how many I've been downloaded those in order to make everything right
Sorry for my English I'm from Costa Rica
Sounds like he is stuck o. The older firmware that don't recognize oem unlock command. Not doing the developer preview upgrade then Ota out to regular firmware. Kinda sounds like what I started out on this t mobile one

Hi MadScientist do you hav the same prob? Didi you solved?. Like I said I think the fastboot method to unbrick doesn't work for me because we need to have oem unlock and usb debugging enable on the OP. I will use another pc to discard
Ps: don't know what you mean with "older firmware"
Since I don't remember what version of firmware I have I try the older 9.5.3 to 10... On oxigen. Even i read that someone resolve his problem installing the Chinese version (hidrogenOs) I don't remember the exact name

I'm looking at the A13 as well since the GS5 is now blocked by AT&T.
I just spoke to Samsung, and they told me the A13 G5 unlocked version purchased directly from them comes with an unlocked bootloader.
I think I just wet myself.

I don't think there's any yet, it's only been on the market for a few months. Aside from it's size it's pretty nice, I've had it 2 weeks and love the battery life.

I will keep you posted if someone else doesnt beat me too it. Either way this thread is going so im sure together we can knock this out. Im going to do my LG Stylo 4 firsy. Its OEM came unlocked from Metro PCS...so i scored. Just havent had time. I just did my ZTE ZMax Pro Z981 from Metro PCS...it also was unlocked OEM. They will all need a PC usb connection and Magisck. You can find them in threads here. Good luck. Will post again when i get time. Hope this helps a little. Here you might not get an answer you want...but if you dig youll find what youre looking for...just got learn by doing...like they said...always backup... everything...first...dont forget to remove sd before you factory reset or you will wipe it. And your phone. If youre not sure...dont change things you dont know...you will brick your phone. Follow directions you find in threads...and you will be fine. How do you plan on flashing those if the bootloader is locked.....?
Sorry to break it to you, but it's a Samsung thing. It doesn't matter if it's a device from a carrier or carrier-free directly from Samsung, if you buy a U.S. Samsung phone you will not unlock bootloader freely.

Correct
first you need oem unlock on that takes pluging in phone holding volume+/- (both) and power till it shutdown and restarts with the unlock option in recovery
Just bought this but the 5G version
Hi, I just rooted my Samsung Galaxy A13. Here's a quick tutorial of what worked for me:
Prerequisites:
Install Heimdall onto your computer. I used Manjaro Linux as my OS, and haven't tested anything else. Install any drivers if necessary.
Install Magisk onto your phone. I recommend using the F-Droid store/app, or Magisk's GitHub page.
Steps
Install any updates for your phone.
Unlock Bootloader
First of all you need to unlock the bootloader:
Enable Developer Mode by navigating: Settings > About Phone > Software information.
Tap Build number about 7 or 8 times until it says You're now a developer.
Allowing the bootloader to be unlocked:
Settings > Developer Options > Enable OEM unlocking.
Allow it to be enabled if prompted.
Turn off your device.
Turn on Download Mode by holding down Volume Up and Volume Down.
When you see a blue screen, hold Volume Up until it shows Unlock Bootloader screen.
Press Volume Up to confirm.
Flashing firmware
https://samfw.com/ is a good resource for downloading firmware. Be careful that you're downloading the correct firmware though. You can find information by navigating on your phone:
Settings > About Phone, and Settings > About Phone > Software information. If you call *#1234# it will show you the current firmware.
Extract the archive.
Extract the file staring with AP.
Extract the file boot.img.IZ4.
Move boot.img onto your phone.
Open Magisk. Click install. Locate and patch the file. Move the file back onto your computers.
Extract the file starting with CSC. Locate the pit file.
Open Heimdall.
Choose the pit file and the patched boot image.
Put your phone in Download Mode and connect via USB.
Flash your phone.
If it worked successfully, your phone will reboot. It will probably throw an error before starting. Choose to do a factory reset. This will delete all the user data, but the patched boot file will stay in place.
Download Magisk again. Follow the prompts.
To test if you have super user access, install Termux from the F-Droid store. type su into the terminal. You will get a pop up asking if you want to give super user permissions.
Congratulations! You're now the UNIX sysadmin of your own phone!
hello Everyone, a friend of mine from America bought an A13 5G, now we are in Europe and the phone is blocked.
exactly inserting a European sim says:
Phone locked. Please contact our customer service center to unlock your phone.
i tried to unlocked bootloader, but unfortunately i don't have OEM unlock present, no way i get it out!
there is a complicated procedure with Flashing a Combination Firmware, but it looks difficult!!! I haven't done it yet.
but would it be possible to only unlock the phone to use European sims?
many thanks

Unlocking the bootloader would not do anything for you in regards to network unlocking. Those are 2 totally separate and distinct procedures.
What's the Baseband Version on the device? You can find that under Settings-->About-->Software Information (and don't do any software updates to the device if it prompts you to)
Hello, the first thing would be to unlock the bootloader which is very easy in Samsung terminals, In all Samsung is the same, you can see the following video that I recommend. No PC needed, The video is in Spanish but it is only to follow the same steps:
The second thing would be to get root, the easiest would be with Magisk, I recommend you watch this video since it is not necessary to format the cell phone, the video is also in Spanish, but you still follow the same steps. In this case, a PC is necessary:
Soon I will make a post myself, teaching you how to root without losing data, the same way as in the video, in case you didn't understand the video.
There is no boot.img.IZ4 im my ap file
ok i found the boot.img I extracted the ap file with winrar before. some how it does not see the .img files but untarring on linux worked. i managed to re flash the ap fille with odin and i saw lot of .img files being flashed and the extracted foldersize by winrar was way smaler than the archive. so that made me look at the ap file and i got the boot.img patched by magisk and made an lz4 file out of it how do i get that boot.img.lz4 back in the archive?
also whats wrong with fast boot?
"fastboot devices" lists my device when its connected but like many here post it does not work with other commands it failes like thIs :
fastboot flash bootloader b.img
Sending 'bootloader' (32768 KB) FAILED (remote: 'unknown command')
fastboot: error: Command failed
Tried other examples too but nothing works tried the fastboot included in android studio and one of the minimal adb/fastboot. the boot loader is unlocked (Not using fastboot) and odin works fine. my phone is in the "entertering fastboor mode" state .its a samsung galaxy a13 g5 and i flashed this firmware using odin
AP_A136BXXS2BWA1_A136BXXS2BWA1_MQB61124574_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta_OS13 now its stock again with no accounts.
fastboot reboot does work so some is right.
fastboot reboot
Rebooting OKAY [ 0.001s]
Finished. Total time: 0.005s
i hope some one can point me in the right direction.
thx

Fastboot isn't functional on Samsung devices. Samsung replaces it with Download mode. Therefore, all flashing is done via Download mode using Odin, not via fastboot mode using command terminal
