How To Root G935P Bootloader 4 PJ2 And PK1 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Guides, News, & Disc

Thread temporarily closed
This should enable root and still retain data and calls.
As a solution for lag I recommend lspeed with Govtuner, Kernel auditor, and Nova launcher.

Next Odin The G935A Zip Eng Boot
Power off your device and boot into download/bootloader mode by pressing and holding the volume down, home, and the power button. Press volume up to get into bootloader.
Open PrinceComsy odin and flash the engineer boot.img by clicking AP and navigating to the file for your model. Click start and your device should reboot by itself.
Enable developer options by going to Settings>About Device and tapping Build Number till it shows Developer mode has been turned on. You will now have Developer options under the settings menu.
Enable USB debugging in the Developer options settings.
INSTALLING ROOT ACCESS:
Make sure that you have ADB installed.
Unzip the SuperSU zip file into a folder(For me C:\rootS7 )
Connect your device and navigate to the file location using adb.
Type root.bat and the process will begin. Be patient, there are some pauses.
Once finished your phone will reboot.
You will also need to do the following:
Download S7_or_S7Edge_Fixes_V15.zipto your internal or external storage and install install FlashFire from the playstore.
Open FlashFire and let it acquire root access. Click the + button at the bottom right corner then click on Flash ZIP or OTA. Navigate and select the S7_or_S7Edge_Fixes_V15.zip. file. Leave the options alone and click the check in the top right. Scroll down to the bottom and click flash. Your phone will reboot and flash the zip. This can take a while.
Go to Settings>Lock screen and security>Other security settings>Security policy updates and turn off "Automatic updates" and "Wi-Fi only". Reboot. This seems to be the culprit of the 7 day soft brick.
Open back up Package Disabler Pro and search for "software update". Disable both packages (com.sec.android.soagent and com.wssyncmldm).
You will need to set your APN configuration manually
Add APN2 EHRPD internet using the following, but replace Bearer with eHRPD
APN2 LTE internet
APN n.ispn
MMSC http://mms.sprintpcs.com
Multimedia message proxy 68.28.31.7
Multimedia message port 80
MCC 310
MNC 120
APN type default,mms,dun
APN protocol IPv4/IPv6
APN roaming protocol IPv4/IPv6
Bearer LTE
I may add more if I forgot something........Enjoy!
This may work on Nougat, someone try it and let me know.

I will try it later I'll need to flash sprint fw again since I'm on unlocked firmware and we haven't received the 7.0 update yet

I got an S7 Edge a couple of days ago and did get APK1 to root and work but was getting reboots almost every time I called out / at random times and the phone was sluggish. Is this still the case with this walk through / procedure?

Hello! So I'm currently trying to Root my S7 Edge that on PK1 (Sprint). I dont seem to be able to boot into the .tar file. Every time I do try and boot into it I land at the LTE Splashscreen and I have the vibrating (1 vibration, wait, 3 vibrations, wait, repeat) I've been able to go back to the stock firmware (G935PVPS4APK1_SPT4APK1_SPR_Sprint_USA_6.0.1) to get basic use of my phone but of course without Root access. Ive tried using other .Tar files but to no luck. I've disabled all the packages and even more. I wonder if you guys have any possible information to why I cant boot to a rooted .tar img.
-Thanks, Zoruda.

I was able to root, but unable to save the APNs

Nice job Soop! Im on latest unlocked firmware awaiting sammy to roll out the Noug. Hopefully that happens soon. I was using it on my XT1254 and it rocked!

Sprint OMADM

Thanks for this Soooperstar!
Does this method throw Knox or no?

When u save the apns they will be invisible make sure to add both Apns then close the settings tab it will save the apns u will just be unable to see them
---------- Post added at 03:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:59 PM ----------
Use sqlite from the playstore and u can verify the apns are in place

Tried to manually disable them also. "Package Missing" error. Looks like pressure from samsung/sprint has gotten to him to remove access to them. At this point, Rooting is dead unless someone figures out something else.

Whereabouts on Hotspot/Native Wifi Tether Mod for Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6

I've been looking and looking and was just wondering if anyone has come across a hotspot mod or hack for the Spring S6 varient.
This service is like a must have for me, and I'd bet a few others could use and benefite from this ( if it has been released, or even in the work in progress)
Look in the note 4 forum - there's a guide there that works and is super easy.

The guide in the Note 4 forum worked for me. First, I used the CF Auto Root method to root my phone. Next, I downloaded and installed the latest idoneapps' Galaxy Tools apk (GTv3.1.5.apk.) I first tried the simple method that worked on my GS5 - just click the "Enable Native Hotspot" button and reboot. Unfortunately, that seemed to break my 4G data - I think it has something to do with the APNs being locked. I went back to the GT application and (after reading through the instruction manual) changed the text in the sales_code box from SPR to XAS and hit the "set" button. I rebooted again and now my 4G was working. As a side benefit, APNs are now unlocked. Went back to the GT app and clicked the Enable Native Hotspot button and rebooted. Native hotspot is working fine for me on 3G and 4G. So, if you're having issues, check out that sales_code box.

Instructions for root - and all necessary files - are in the thread here, but there really isn't much to it - install the drivers, run Odin, select the md5 file, put phone in download mode, connect phone to computer, click Start, wait a few seconds for it to finish, disconnect phone from computer, reboot. Less than 5 minutes. The thread also has the link for the stock recovery that is installed the same way and is supposed to improve battery life. I didn't have a problem with battery, but I installed it anyways. You can read the thread for more information and detailed instructions.
For the hot spot, refer to the Galaxy Tools thread on the note forum here.
The sales_code box is the second box on the right. Just tap it as you would any text box you want to type in. The keyboard comes up, delete the text that is there (SPR) and enter XAS. Click the Set button next to it. Reboot. I'll attach a screen shot so you can see what the app looks like once the change has been made.

I posted a link to that in another thread here and have been using it since day one. Don't change any settings and just enable hotspot that's it. Have you done any updates? I haven't so I'm still on the original software which may be why but I didn't change any other settings which could be your problem.

My phone performed a software update within minutes of me first setting it up - it booted in to recovery and everything. I hadn't installed the root package or Galaxy Tools app yet, so can't say if the update is why I couldn't enable the hot spot with a single click. It would have been the easiest way to go, so I'd suggest that anyone give that method a try first. If it doesn't work, then just make sales_code change and try again.

This method ended up working out for me.
Im a sprint varient fully rooted with the 920t software, and having no issues with the deep sleep battery drain. But i thing i started to notice even with and without the sales_code change is that with some apps (i.e. snapchat). I cant send nor log in to unless i perfrom a info reset code (##72786#) but while doing this. It relocks the apns and disables the hotspot mod.
Any help with this is greatfully apreciated you guys. And also. Thanks again!!!
thanks again

Wish I had something useful to contribute, but I'm not having any issues - Snapchat is working fine. Attached is my current software version - as I mentioned, it did force an update the first time it booted up. Maybe pick an app you're having issues with, clear its cache, uninstall and then reinstall it to see if the problem persists.
sorry for the late reply
But i did get to figure it out. The problem was the "sales_code"
I just ad to leave it stock and just let the phone read everything correcrly.
Guys thanks again. Honestly
And also.... have any of ya had the screen rotation problrm???

I have that rotation issue. It's the damn adaptive charger. The wireless charger never has that issue. It was fixed in a later update supposedly but I had to get my original phone replaced.

I have a Sprint Galaxy S6 5.02 (G920PVPU1AOCF ) rooted with pingpong.
I used GTv3.1.5 then updated to 3.1.8, just enabled native hotspot and nothing else.
Working with no problem.
No root necessary...all you need is your MSL. Easiest way to obtain MSL is by calling Sprint. Once obtained, in the dialer enter ##3282#, hit edit, enter MSL, hit APN Settings. On APN2 EHRPD internet tap on the settings. On APN type it shows default, mms. Edit so that it shows default, mms, dun and then hit ok, up top hit More and hit save. Hit back and tap on APN2 LTE internet settings wheel and do the same...APN type should be default, mms, dun. On More hit save then reboot the phone.
That's it...turn on native hotspot and it should work!
Hope this helps!!

Thanks for the help on changing the Sales_code Text from SPR to XAS. It worked well for me after the reboot. I have I've spent almost 5 hours of my morning trying to find out my MSL with countless readers that didn't work. This method you describe did the trick. :good:
Doesn't work on my sprint s6. Sprint gave me the msl code but there is no APN option under the EDIT menu. I can only see APN under VIEW and it's greyed out, cannot be changed

I got the notification for that but I haven't updated yet.
Did you willingly install the update or did it happen automatically? Can anyone confirm?
I need to know if I should be freaking out or not. I haven't rooted yet but now I think I'm running out of time and need to get it over with.
I have "Automatic system updates" turned off in Developer options. Am I safe?

You should stop trying to install it
I've run into this before on other devices. Basically, the phone assumes you have the stock recovery installed, and attempts to run a command very specific to that recovery. Since you have TWRP, such a command is not compatible, and therefore nothing happens. If you were to look at the terminal output in TWRP, you should see something indicating that flashing the update failed.
But as a general rule of thumb, you should stay away from OTA updates when rooted. They are generally not compatible with or safe for rooted devices and custom ROMs. Even if the update were successful, it would unroot your device and patch the update that allowed you to obtain root, and you'd be stuck without root indefinitely.
So in your case, you need to freeze/uninstall "System Update" app (or whatever it's called) and wait for the maintainer of your ROM to include the changes in the next ROM update.
If you're still bootlooping, in TWRP's file manager, try looking for the update and deleting it. I think it may be in the /cache folder, but please do some research before you go deleting stuff at random. You may also try connecting it to adb, restarting in root mode, and running "adb uninstall com.lge.lgdmsclient," or "adb hide com.lge.lgdmsclient." Basically, you need to find a method of preventing the update from initiating automatically upon boot.

Will this procedure clear data? Factory reset?
Can someone please confirm if this clears existing data? I thought Odin doesn't work in this case because of the locked bootloaded on Verizon?

Yes, it probably will. If you are that worried about it, backup your data first. Odin will work even with the bootloader locked. Locked bootloader does not prevent you from loading official firmware.

What app can we use to back up all data like apps sceen layout ect... since we don't have root on Verizon, I know we can't use titanium back up because we don't have root bit is their a similar app to do what that does

Not sure you'll be able to preserve that. I was referring to user data, not system data.

Helium or My Backup Pro, but they are limited without root, which means some data can be restored, but not all.

I extract and I get several files? None of them being .tar files. Does anyone have the 4 files to flash in odin? Am I the only one who didn't get the 4 files mentioned when extracting the Md5? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You have to go in odin and select PDA and then add the entire md5 file! If you don't want to do it that way, then you have to download a zipping app like 7z or similar and create the .tar yourself.. Which is pointless unless you're planning on flashing 1 file like the boot.img for a reason or other.. The md5 file has all of the files that need to be flashed there's no need to unzip the files. Just flash as is!
If you're downloading from the OP then you need to unzip the file from the .zip because you can only flash .md5 or .tar.

Thanks. I have issue of my note saying "searching for signal" with full bars until i make a call. I dont think flashing the full file in Ap reset my modem to stock.

Try flashing a modem only file then which is for that signal.. Also boot into recovery using the 3 button combo and clear your Cache after a flash..

I've cleared it after flash and no fix. Does anyone have a modem file I could use. Does it have to be from the same firmware version? Sorry just not really experienced just need to fix this phone it's killing me. I got it off Craigslist don't know the history of it I just know that flashing a fresh stock rom didn't fix the issue.

Is it an actual Verizon phone? And do you know for sure that it's Verizon? Go into settings then about phone and tell me what model it says. If it says other than SM-N920V then it's not a Verizon one.. You can only flash firmware for a specific carrier.. Also check the APN settings too.. And about the modem no you don't have to use the same exact one from the same firmware version you can try a different one however I don't think that'll fix the problem.. Try checking the APN settings first.. Also if you just dropped a sim card into it without first giving Verizon the IMEI then it's not gonna work! You'll have to give them the IMEI and if the IMEI is bad the phone will never work at least not with Verizon.

It is indeed n920v clean imei through verizon prepaid. It gets apn through SIM card which is accurate I have signal T all times and internet/mms work. However when I boot my phone or randomly every so often it will say 'searching for service' throughout the day while still full having signal. During this time I don't receive calls/messages/internet notifications and it is stuck that way until I notice it and dial my voicemail which it then displays "Verizon wireless" and then all notifications come through.

Maybe try using this downgraded version from my Android File Host and flash it using odin but before flashing take the sim card out and after it's done flashing immediately do a factory reset by holding the power and volume down button and after the screen turns off and then back on select shut down and then boot into recovery and do the factory reset after it's finished put the sim card back in then turn it on and go through all the setup and see if it works.. Let the phone charge some first don't try doing this at 3% battery cause if it shuts down in the middle it can brick the phone. Not likely but it could.

Every one I have tried is extremely laggy and I lose hotspot.
the lag is because of the engboot. there are fixes to get it close to working.
there are fixes for the hotspot as well.
i hope to see more action here as well. its an old phone and the domestic bootloader is locked. i think these are the main reasons for the dead forum
Yeah the boot is locked and can't install any custom roms, but I did it and it took me a little bit to find out but no lags or anything like that. ... I actually mixed to ways to do it from two forums. I'm posting the steps...
Do it at your own risk.
Disable Packages: (BK disable pro) Worth the money.
samsung dm phone interface = com.samsung.syncmlphoneif
samsung dm service = com.samsung.syncservice
securityLogAgent = com.samsung.android.securitylogagent
com.sec.android.soagent = software update
com.wssyncmldm = software update
open Odin and flash Eng.Boot then it will get into boot loop(if not skip to the next step) flash this after boot loop Samsung_G935x_QC_Rooted_BOOT
run root.bat floder "D:\S7\SM root\Nougat_S7_Root_2_82_All_Carriers_V2\root.bat"
no fixing option not installing tweeks for root
Open Build.Prop with BuildProp Editor and change the following settings:
ro.cdma.default_numeric=310000 to 310120
ro.cdma.default_alpha=Chameleon to sprint
ro.build.characteristics=Chameleon to sprint
Make sure you grant root permissions when it asks. You may have to try this twice. Reboot and LTE should stick
Download S7_or_S7Edge_Fixes_V15.zip to your internal or external
storage and install install FlashFire from the playstore.
Regards

Yes, you have to disable those before flashing the eng boot file. It has been a while, but I think if you leave them enabled, your phone will boot and then reboot after a few seconds. Any reason why you want to root? There are a lot of non-root workarounds and your phone will be more stable.

I'm just one of the weird ones that likes to completely customize their phone lol. Boot animations, exposed, stuff like that. I am thinking about ordering a SM-G935U board for my phone because it looks like they actually got somewhere with that build. I'm a firm believer that if you own something, you should be able to do what you want with it. Samsung is becoming the Window's of the phone development world.
Did you find a way to root it

[GUIDE]--Unlocked OREO(CSB2) on Cricket/ATT wireless

SO i just wanna start by saying i did not make these files. I simply arranged them together to help out those on cricket wireless like i am and needed Volte working. So here we go.
I also know there are other tutorials with similar things but this is a simple more straight forward process who dont wanna go through all that and wanna just flash in odin.
Required for this
Galaxy S8
ALL FILES NEEDED WILL BE INSIDE 1 FOLDER JUST EXTRACT AND YOUR GOOD TO GO( THE FILE IS 3.87GB)
Unlocked firmware CSB2(in one of the links below)
Odin patched 3.13-Thanks to REALBBB and BLUEFOX721(in one of the links below)
At&T User Data file(in THE FILE)
DOWNLOAD
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1VEaOuO-boVbgVFeR_VMtxpfY20nFhL2N <<<UNLOCKED FIRMWARE AND USERDATA FILE
https://drive.google.com/file/d/15ZQN1Epy8d81N_GNUP2M3gXQPL02kIGL/view?usp=sharing <<<PATCHED ODIN
:::WARNING:::, THIS WILL WIPE ALL DATA ON THE PHONE, PLEASE BACKUP ANY DATA BEFORE THIS PROCESS. I HAVE NOT PROVIDED ANY ADB FILES OR ANY OTHER THING AS I AM SIMPLY DOING A FLASH. IF YOU NEED THOSE FILES PLEASE LOOK ELSEWHERE.
IF YOU DONT WANNA WIPE USE THE HOME CSC AND IT WILL KEEP ALL YOUR INFO ON THE PHONE BUT DOING A DIRTY UPDATE CAN CAUSE ISSUES SOMETIMES.
1. UNZIP THE FILE and you will see 3 folders in it, the UserData file/Patched Odin/Full Oreo Firmware.
2. launch The patched Odin
3. Put you galaxy s8 into download mode by turning the phone off. Then Hold the bixby button and the Volume down button and push the power button.
It will show the download mode and you will then push the Volume Up and you will enter download mode. Plug in your phone thats in download mode now to your computer.
4. Go to ODIN and then select BL, AP, CSC>>>(select the non home CSC), CP and direct each one of those to the corresponding files. SO BL GETS BL FILE, CP GETS THE CP AND SO ON. Make sure to select the NON HOME CSC file. Shut down odin and restart it again as you will need it later. Unplug the phone.
DO NOT SELECT THE USERDATA FILE YET, THAT WILL BE LATER.
5. Once you are ready make sure your phone shows on the ID:COMM up top. If it does go ahead and click START. Depending on your computer this can take anywhere from 4-20 minutes. SIT BACK AND RELAX TILL ITS DONE.
6. Once the phone is done it will restart. (it will say updating system and likely get not that high % and then say erasing-this is normal). Let it load back up to the WELCOME screen. Once it gets to that screen turn the phone completely off again and put it back into download mode(shows how to above in step 3).
7. Launch ODIN again or go back to odin if you already restarted it from the earlier step. Plug the phone back into the computer again once its in download mode.
8. Make sure the phone shows up in odin by looking at the ID:COM, if it does then go down the USERDATA spot and select it and direct it to the userdata file(USERDATA_AIO_G950USQS5CSB1_CL15104926_QB21778972_REV01_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5) in the USERDATA folder you extracted. Once your sure the phone is showing in the ID:COM and you selected the userdata file go ahead and click start. This process should only take around 3-6 minutes or so.
9. Once the process is complete it will restart at which this time you can unplug the phone. It will take a bit to load up because it fully erased the phone again. IT will likely say updating system and then get to a certain percentage and stop and say erasing(this is normal).
10. You now have an unlocked firmware cricket phone with the Cricket Splash screen and working Volte. setup the phone and enjoy OREO.
Thanks, but the download doesn't work - invalid decryption key.

Mine shows the Wi-Fi calling greyed out. Might just be me though. Not sure how to enable it on my end.
I can access the Wi-Fi calling stuff via a tasker but it seems too not wanna turn on.
Ok it shows it's turned on, but I'm not sure how to really tell or how to test out.
When you turned it on, did you get a window to put in your 911 address?

I used the new aio unlocked crd4 firmware(cricket firmware) to do this. I just haven't updated the thread yet with that firmware. What fail message is it giving you?
When I click start, it stops in a Fail.
I do find the instructions a little confusing.

I don't have a note 8, so can't do that. It honestly wouldn't be any different from this except you would need the unlocked firmware and att user data for the note 8.
Updated thread with crd4. I have the cre2 firmware and will test it out tonight to see if I can still use the Userdata method. If I can I will update the thread with the cre2 firmware.
CRE2 works correctly with VOLTE and visual voicemail working. I still cant get WI-Fi calling to work as its greyed out on my phone. If someone figures that out let me know and ill update the thread. I'm uploading the CRE2 files right now and they should be available within an hour of making this comment.
thread has been updated with multiple links now and updated firmware.
