The last time it was this bad was in late October and something with S Health on the watch was part of the problem. I had to send it to Samsung and they replaced the battery and PBA.
Original Problem:
POWER - BATTERY ISSUES - BATTERY LOW TALK/STAND BY TIME
Problem found:
LOW BATTERY (STBY) - INTERNAL BATTERY FAILURE - GEAR BAND (L) - COSMETICS
Solution:
REPLACED PBA - REPLACED COMPONENT - S/W UPDATED - PASSED ALL FUNCTIONAL TESTING

It's been fine since then until today when it went from 100% to 13% in less than 4 hours. I don't use an always on display and wrist flicking detection is turned off also and it's been near my Note 5 since I took it off the charger so connection stability shouldn't drag it down this hard.
Jonbo298 Have you solve the problem? I have problem with battery too. From 12 hours the battery is on 30%. And this was at night, from 10pm to 10am. I think that it's not normal.

Good morning everybody. I would request you to help me with certain problems that cannot be overlooked.
First of all the nature of the problem : Heavy battery drain
Occurring since : 4 months
So let me explain you the exact problem. After charging the battery to 100% followed by unplugging it and surfing on opera mini for 5mins on 3g drops the battery to 96% after which within 10 minutes it hovers around 90-92%
drain from 90-86 is very fast in a few minutes followed by another fall to 74%
So within 20-25mins my battery is around 74%
Another couple of mins it jumps to 69 skipping everything in between and then starts the plummeting of the battery.
69-63 : less than 2 mins
however its noted that the battery stays considerably sustained between 59-50% after which it crashes to 46-43-39-33 in this order in a matter of 10-15 mins. It hovers on 33 for like 5 mins before going 29-27-23 in matter of mins. From here the fall pattern is 23-17-14-9-2-Dead
TIME TAKEN FROM 100-0 : ~150-170 mins
BATTERY USAGE :
3g surfing on less resource consuming browser eg opera mini with occasional messaging on the IM Whatsapp.
wifi : disabled
gps: disabled
auto sync: disabled
brightness: lowest
vibration: disabled
sound: disabled
Another thing to note is that on 2g the battery pulls ~180-200 mins
APPS INSTALLED:
opera mini
whatsapp
Ti backup
m-indicator
dropbox
unrar
According to my knowledge the above mentioned apps do not consume too much resources and do not self initiate.
Self diagnosis :
1. Dying battery
Action taken: New battery bought
Result: Battery followed similar pattern: No change.
2. Faulty charger
Action taken: Variety of chargers tested
Result: Battery followed similar pattern: No change.
3. Improper battery calibration:
Action taken: Battery stats deleted via CWM using recommended procedures.
Result: Battery followed similar pattern: No change.
Action taken: Calibration apps used.
Result: Battery followed similar pattern: No change.
4. Rom specific battery drain:
Action taken: Variety of roms tested followed by resetting data and wiping of battery stats
Result: Battery followed similar pattern: No change.
Conclusion: I cannot seem to diagnose this problem which is very much hampering my life by limiting outdoor time
I would like to appeal for help from my fellow members, developers and everybody else you can help me overcome this problem and ease my life without suggesting to buy a new phone.
Good day
Well i think you have socket problem that is the socket pins connecting the battery pin(golden coloured pins)..my friend also faced similar problem in galaxy y..straight away go to service centre before damaging any further hardware..here in India it takes about 550INR to change battery panel a.k.a battery socket

Fascinating. I never thought about it. My phone has fallen more than the rains last year so i guess those connectors, those lil b******s need to get their ass kicked at the SS.
Hello,
I installed yesterday chroma with hellsgod kernel as described here on my Nexus 4
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/development/rom-chroma-03-31-2015-layers-t3069936
Everything worked fine and I was able to use my phone without problems.
The only downside is that the battery life is horrible. Before I was running the stock 5.1.1 and the battery was lasting more than 1 day with my "standard" use, or at least 4-5 hours with display always on and gps.
Now I noticed that using gps the battery life drops to ~2 hours and the phone doesn't even survive a night in standby.
Looking at the battery use, I can guess there is something terrible going on
http://postimg.org/image/esjjgc4gd/
the battery level completely disappeared when I put it standby when I went to sleep. When I woke up (alarm didn't ring of course) it was at 5%. I charged the phone and reboot it and you can see it shows from ~15% to 55+% in the time of the reboot (the small empty space).
My questions are:
1- is it a known problem/bug of the kernel or maybe just battery monitor issue?
2- is there any way to fix it?
P.S.
I have not changed house/use of the phone nor any relevant changes in the environment/electromagnetic fields afaik
Hi, I installed the S3 update over the air to my Korean S2 a couple of days ago. Everything seems fine except for issues with the battery. I Can take the watch of the charger after an overnight charge and wear it all day, powering it off before i go to bed in the evening. When i shut it down the charge can be over 50% but when i power it back on in the morning the charge is just over 10%. If i leave it powered on but not on charge the percentage will increase over the next couple of hours back to just under 50%. The problem is i can never be sure what the true state of charge is, so i am unsure whether it will last the day.
Anyone else having this issue or know how to fix it?
I have problem with battery. Battery is discharging really fast.
That's weird. My battery life seems pretty good. My watch has been off the charger for 5 hrs and I'm still at 94%

Yeah, it looks like that first 2-3 charging cycles were not good, but today I have really good battery life. ... So my problem is solved.
On the old firmware I could wear it 16 hours and put it back on the charger with over 60% left. Since the update I am down to 20% in four hours. I've done 2 hard and one soft reset to no avail. The battery thing on the phone app says its my watchface and I should use a dark one but I am. This, frankly, is a show stopper. I can't recharge 2 or 3 times a day. Any idea how to reinstall the R734XXU2DPG1 firmware? That worked.
Apparently a couple of recharges fixes the battery issue. Don't know why but it does. So far at least.
Hi
I just updated my gear s2 classic yesterday with the new ota, my battery doesn't even last for 2 hours now, before it gave me 1_1.5 days. In battery usage it shows 22% usage by contacts and 19% watchface even though I'm using the stock with no customization and even the background is same as default for menus.
I've denied the permission for gear plug in for contacts even then the drain is too fast.
How can we fix this, any ideas.
I purchased a GS3 3 days back and using it with my OnePlus 5. Although everything is fine - except for the meagre selection of apps in Tizen store :crying:
I am facing an issue with irregular battery drain. When the watch is in standalone mode and Airplane mode on, the battery level drops at a steady level till 50% - after that the drop is very very fast - maybe 5% every 30 mins even though i am not wearing it. I went to sleep with 23% t 11PM and at 6AM the watch is dead. AOD is off as well. What might be the issue here? Please advice

Bump
Almost a month since purchasing (Amazon return window coming up fast). Here's my experience given that I walked right into this battery-gate issue.
Disclaimer: I'm a heavy user. I get A LOT of email notifications, WhatsApp and keep the screen fairly bright (never less than 7 out of 10). It has Verizon LTE service. Verizon said this would not affect my battery life....
Week one. On a full charge I could only get about 5 hours. Off the charger 9 am and by 2pm it was back on the charger for a one hour re-charge that got me home until it was back on the charger for the night.
I had to purchase a second charger for my desk during the day. I picked up a third for $8 just to keep in my bag for when on the go.
Week 2. Same 20% drain per hour.
Week 3. I switched off diagnostic notifications, and switched from vibrate alerts to sound alerts. Big improvement. I went from 5 hours to about 9 hours. Battery drain is now 11% per hour.
Zero Lemon needs to make an S3 case...
And it needs a fast charging port. A Battery this small would charge quickly with a cord. 2 hours for 0% to 90% is pretty ridiculous in this era. My Note 3 charged to 100% in an hour 4 years ago.. And yes I know it's for waterproofing but other makers like Garmin and Polar use charging ports with waterproof gaskets.
I was getting about 2 to 3 percent per hour until a few days ago when the battery drain bug hit. At that time, it was almost 12% per hour.
I did a factory reset and I'm sitting at about 1.6 to 2 percent per hour.
I get about 1-2% but I don't need the fitness tracking stuff so i usually have Samsung health disabled and AOD off but location on and wake gestures on. I also have the diagnostic option off since the day I got it. I read somewhere the current battery bug can be averted by turning the diagnostic option off. I get 20+ emails a day and about 30+ texts and WhatsApp each. So I generally use my watch for texts, WhatsApp, emails, weather and Samsung Pay
With AOD ON and use for many things : cheklist, note, memo, notification, alarm, timer, stopwatch.... I have average drain of 3.5% at 4.5% by hour. I'm happy when I have 3.5% but it grow quicly to 4%-4.5% if I use a little. Just but can live with this.
For those who have serious battery drain on v3.0.0.2 (and even have broken sensors such as heart rate detection like me) can go for repair, if still covered by warranty.
I have recently the same behavior as described by many after upgraded to v3.0.0.2, battery drain 20%/hr and it become worse when I found out wake up gesture is not working at all, so is the heart rate sensor as well as steps tracker.
I hesitated whether to send it back to repair, but in the end so glad I did, it only took 1 day and they informed me they have changed the motherboard and replace with new battery (as I told them about bad battery drain issue as well). And guess what, I got back my gear s3 frontier with everything working but on old enough firmware 2.3.2.3 (which is working pretty good, just that battery usage around 5%/hr not that great).
After that I decided to take the risk to upgrade my firmware to 3.0.0.2 again, and whoa, everything still works perfect and battery drain has gone! Battery usage is now around 1%/hour which is acceptable I think.
