hi all, my girlfriends phone is an htc one m8 bought on ebay from china and cant update and is glitchy and slow and freezes a lot, it says its official software and hasn't been tampered with, can anyone help please?

Check the HTC forums https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8 and also find the correct variant , there are few , then be sure you`re running the latest official update , if yes then , no updates
If not , the OTA updates that I assume you`re trying to get follows some rules based on location , servers , number of attempts to check for updates etc
Try to use a VPN free solution and change to other location , check the system update
On the same forum , in the General section you may find a tutorial about how to manually update your device

Hello everybody. I am new to android, recently i got htc chacha and it does not support arabic menu. i found the arabic rom for htc chacha, but i dont know how to install it. i have been searching the internet but everytime i know sonmething i got blocked by another thing.

the main problem i am facing is howw to root the phone so it becomes S-OFF( i dont know if what i am saying is right) but in general i need to root and install this custom rom.

the ask me to update the ROM to the version listed in the table first, which one i should choose? the one that have the same romn version as mine (i.e. 1.23.502.1) if so, the carrier for this rom as stated in the table is cingular usa and it is not the carrier in my country. what should i do. thank yuouu

I just got a HTC m7 801e 16gb version which seems to be for the middle east (dubai especially ) . The phone during set up somewhere states that it is a "test device " and that htc Tell is installed and turned on which helps htc collect information and reports about the phone and can't be turned off. My major grudge is that there is no option for a software update (even under the settings -About submenu) on the phone. The phone comes with:
android 4.1.2 ,
htc sense 5.0
kernel version is [email protected]#1
1.29.1402.25.CL190183 release-keys (build number)
5.12 (HTC SDK API level)
The camera has the horrible purple tint in low light which i just cant seem to get rid of.
Please guys , i need to know if it is possible to run a software update to lollipop or even kit kat on this phone and how i can activate or check for software/firmware update on it since it ( software update ) is not in any options currently on the phone.
Or is it possible to totally root this phone and install a stable custom ROM on it?
Or am i just jinxed because i got a device for "testing purposes" even though it came in a retail box et al ?

So basically my dad got this phone in the USA, its a T-Mobile version.
Thing is he sent it to a mobile shop and they "unlocked" and I can tell its rooted (superSU something)
But basically when I try to update it to Android 6.0 it tells me that Software status is modified and thats all ok cause I read that you cant update your software when you update. SO, basically, I'm wondering how can I update it when rooted and if thats not possible, can I unroot it somehow, update and have it still remain unlocked?
