[Completed] Backup to Google how to verify - XDA Assist

I have HTC one m8 with Factory Android Marshmallow. Im trying to check if the backup was taken through google.
I have the following settings,
"Settings > Backup & reset > Back up my data" ON
When going to "Settings > Backup & reset > Restore from HTC Backup", another screen opened "HTC Backup" and i press "Restore from backup". As a result a search starts to check all Saved backups. There is only one found with timestamp 12/9/2015 6:50PM.
I need to know if that is the accumulative backup since that time, does it contain all data i need?
I went to Account and Sync, and made sure that all options for google are enabled, and tried to manually sync all accounts but no change to available backups.
Please advice how to force backup and how to verify, i need to factory reset the phone

Hi and welcome to XDA Assist !
The HTC Backup function you use it backs-up what you have selected to the HTC servers , check the internet connection before or whether the backup function works only on wi-fi or not
The restore function refers to same HTC servers not google account
Backing-up to the Google servers is up to the google account that you may have and this must be enabled from settings/accounts/google . This will backup everything that has been marked there , if nothing has been marked then nothing has been backed-up , mark the desired options and perform a google sync from its settings (sync now)
The applications will be not be saved entirely , google servers will only link the installed apps to the playstore from your account and restored from playstore after factory reset and by adding your google account but WITHOUT their data , I mean , without their settings , just fresh apps , only the google play games will restore your progress if the play games sync has been made
Now , I know that you want to have everything restored as before and to achieve that you need either a nandroid backup which can be done from a custom recovery ( more complicated if you never did it but easy if you have time to read) , using Titanium Backup but you need root access or using Helium for non non rooted devices , from playstore , very easy and safe
Good luck !

[Q] Changing Primary Email Acccout?

i own a rooted epic 4g and my primary gmail account password got changed. now ive lost access to the android marketplace.
i looked around online and the only solution ive seen is to 'factory data reset'. i dont want to reset my phone, though. ive also tried going to my sync list and deleting my primary gmail but it wont let me.
does anyone know of an easier solution? if not, i suppose ill just do a nand backup, reset my phone, and then nand restore everything. or will that not even work?
please help!

Add a second account through Accounts & Sync, then delete the first account.
Or, when you restore (I'm assuming through Titanium Backup), don't restore system apps/data, just user apps.
Couldn't you just reset your Gmail password? Then, open the Gmail app - it should ask you for your password - and input your new password.

i did add the second account but when i go to delete my original email account, it says i cant delete it.
no, ive always used just the basic nand backup and restore. and i cant access the app store to download titanium because i need an functioning email account to do it.
yes, i tried to restore my password but apparently i didnt provide enough accurate information. i could only answer a select few questions i actually knew.
Go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications
Find junk with Google in its name, click on it, choose clear data. Wash, rinse, repeat until done.
Here's a link to Titanium Backup from my Dropbox: http://db.tt/K2lwLwm
Download & install it. Then, backup all user apps and data. If you've already done a nandroid backup, just do a factory reset or go into recovery and wipe & flash a new rom.
When the rom boots, put in your other Gmail account that you know the password for and that'll be your new primary Gmail account. You can then restore your apps with Titanium Backup.

just curious, will this delete all my numbers? i should write them all down just in case, though.

if your numbers are backed up and visible in your gmail contacts, you should be fine.

Titanium Backup App Restore Best Practices?

I use Titanium backup to do app backups of a handful of games, a few installed through the play store on my main account, a few installed from a secondary Japanese account to access the Japanese store, 1-2 Amazon underground installed games and a few using the Qoo store app.
When it comes time to restore these backups onto a new phone (or same phone due to a OS upgrade requiring a wipe) should I just choose to restore the apps+data, or reinstall the apps from their respective storefronts first then go into titanium backup and just choose to restore those specific apps data?
Will titanium backup restore the correct market links for everything? Is this even a concern anymore or are the links server side, and as long as you have the correct app id's installed the respective stores will see them as installed and able to receive updates?
Thanks!

Defunct Cyanogenmod hijacking restore of google app data after factory reset

1st off, I apologize if this has been covered previously, I did search google, and these forums, but the issue is tricky to form a search string accurately.
I recently flashed back to stock CM13.1.2. During initial setup, after signing into google, I select the google restore of my previous app data, but before it can begin, a screen pops up with Cyanogenmod's account sign-in, which is of course defunct and non-working. But whether I skip this step, try to sign in, or hit back, there is no way to continue restoring app data from my google drive account.
I've read that Oreo allows google app data restore after setup, but what can we do in Android 6? Am I to give up on restoring this app data, and use Helium or titanium backup in the future? thanks.
After each fresh install of a customer Rom, the ID of your device is change. If you CALL titanium backup the first time (if you've make a backup in history from an older Rom, Titanium ask you, if you want restore the old ID. This ID is also responsible to identify your device for restore your apps
Maybe (just maybe), you could boot into TWRP, go to advanced ---> file manager, then delete the apk corrispondent to the CM login prompt, it should be
com.cyanogen.ambient.core
located somewhere in /system/app or /system/priv-app
delete the folder then reboot

How to backup android app data without root

Hello, so i am trying to use a Textnow mod and its having login issue. You cant go pass login page. The only way to bypass this is first downloading the original then log in and then backup its data then restore on the mod version.
The app that was specified to be used was titanium and it requires root access. I was wondering if there was another backup app that doesn't need root access or if anyone has a solution.
Google offers backup of phone's app data via its backup service, what on most phones is enabled by default. In order to use it, you have to make sure that the option "Back up to Google Drive" is enabled for your account. You can find the setting under Settings->Google settings->Backup. FYI: You can view the active backups in this section.
If you don't want to do it this way you may use Helium App Sync and Backup what doesn'r require Android is rooted.

Restore data after factory reset

Hello. today I uploaded a custom Rom with full wipe and lost access to the telegram application backup that I had made via totanium backup. Unfortunately, to log in to the telegram, I need a phone number and I forgot which I gave when registering. I have always restored titanium backup and the application works. today i lost that and i have been trying all day to recover these 3 files from my deleted memory. Is it possible at all?
Hi, have you signed in Google and backed up data from Android device to Google account before factory reset? If yes, you can do it easily as below:
1. Go to Settings on your Android phone.
2. Sign into the same Google account that you use to back up data, find Backup and reset option and enable Automatic restore. Then the backup files will be automatically synced to your phone.
Good luck to you.
