How can I recover my harddrive from my Xperia Z5? - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I had some bad problems with my Xperia Z5 so I wanted to reset the phone. So made a backup from my phone on my computer, just copied everything. After I reset my phone, I wanted to look at my video's that I filmed a few days ago but I couldn't find them on my backup on my computer! I found the map, but it was empty. I think the backup failed or something did not goes as pland.. My Music is also gone but that doesn't matter... The video's means much to me and I hope I can get those video's back, but I have no idea how... And if thats even possible
I hope someone can help me out..
Gr Tim

If you're root take a look at Diskdigger that's your only hope, if you're not rooted I can't help you further sorry Bro

Help what have I done Zune wiped my pictures

Today I spent ages sorting out all my pictures on my computer then loaded up Zune and told it to sync (I have delete from phone option disabled in Zune)
Off it went then I noticed it said it was deleting from phone arrrghh
I stopped the sync and checked the phone and yes it has deleted all the pictures (luckily I have 90% of them on my hdd already) but is there anyway to recover the ones it deleted?
And why did it delete them when I had the option disabled?
My case is pretty different from you,but I just want to let more people know the issue of WP7.
actually I tried to add a folder into my device, however, once everything done. I enter the pictures hub,i have found my folder there, however, all the pictures in my camera roll disappeared, but luckily i jump back to the menu and choose DATE,i can find my camera roll pictures there(it is not deleted, but disappeared).weird...god damn WP7...
This situation is pretty random...now all the pictures is back to my camera roll again,it has happened 3 times on my device.oh my god....

Is it Samsung Focus with sdcard?
That's why I started using skydrive or whatever it's called to upload all pictures I take to a private online album. It's great because it just happens. You don't even know it's doing it.

Problem with files

hallo, i´m new here and sorry my english is terrible.
i have a omnia 7 and today i downdated it, but i forgot to make a backup of my pictures. there is nothing in zune or skydrive since 5.10.2011 from me.
is there any chance to get my pictures back. i tried to make the omnia 7 to a removeble medium to recover the pictures but the phone has no device letter (i hope you understand what i mean) to choose.
please help me there are very important pictures for me. !!! thank you !!!
and sorry for the bad english
If you don't have your photos set to automatically sync and you reflashed or rolled back (essentially a very custom re-flash) the phone without syncing them manually, I am sorry but they are gone. Flashing a phone is basically like reformatting a computer - everything is wiped, permanently.
However, it's possible that some of your photos may still be available off the phone. For example, did you disable the setting to automatically upload your photos to WinDows Live Skydrive? If not, they may be available there (lower resolution than originally, but much better than nothing).
i dont have it on skydrive.
is there no solution. whats about making tha phone a windows mobile phone 6 ?
mobile phones 6 have a device letter. can i flash a rom from a mobile phone 6 or perhaps androit ?

to root?

I have had the unfortunate experience in using samsung kies to backup my sgs2 bought in June '11 to upgrade the latest firmware too then realise the kies backup didn't work.
However, before I did the kies backup I copied the entire phone hhd to my pc, just incase.
When I realised the kies backup didnt work, I wasn't disheartened, as I have the info on my pc, right.. well no, as the files (data) I had copied, all of it won't go back to the sgs2 hhd (internal memory).
Can anyone advise?
Also, I now have the latest sgs2 firmware on my sgs2, I read the only way to backup the entire contents of the phone is to root it and use something such as titanium or nanroid.. yet I haven't got a clue what any of these are, or what customs ROM'S are.. is there a newbie site a read I can view to understand what the different ROMS do, and what will be better for my needs, also the most effective way to root my sgs2, as I don't want to brick it, I have read that you can root/unroot it using certain software, this would be good if there is one for the sgs2? as this would allow me to switch between the two, if anything went wrong etc or if I sold the phone.
Can anyone in layman's terms help, advise or guide me.
It would be appreciated, as my need to root is simply to do a full phone backup; once I've sorted out how to get all my data back to the sgs2 (
thanks
smash
ok as I have had little reply to my posting I went ahead and succesdfully rooted my sgs2.
Now I've completed a titanium backup, how can I verify that 'all' my phone's data has been backed up? as I don't later want to find that it didn't work or missed items.
I'm thinking of backup my phone to pc and then using restore to prove it, or is there an easier way?
Now that I'm rooted what ROM's are popular currently? I'm after faster web browsing, better battery life, and for google to sync my calander (completely).
The latter is a problem I've had for about a week; google won't sync my entire calander to droid. I've read a lot and it seems I'm not alone in this; yet I've tried all the work arounds, and still nothing.
Any advice?
Also, if I factory reset my device, will I have to root my sgs2 again? (I had done this prior to rooting and still didn't help google calander sync afterwards, it would only sync 1 month's worth of prior events).
Thanks in advance.

[Q] How do I root without having to factor reset?? Don't want to lose photos.. HELP!!

So I've been looking for a solution for the past 2 months now it is SO frustrating. Anyway so...
I own a LG Nexus 5 (non rooted), and I've been using this photo app called VSCOcam solely as my phone camera for the last 2 years, and I've taken thousands and thousands of photos with it. The phone has been amazing for the last 2 years but it is time for an upgrade.
So I went to backup my phone and realized that VSCOcam had screwed me... The app has its own internal library so unless you "export" the photos, they are not accessible in /sdcard. Someone in XDA forums had the app and told me that the photos are stored inside "/data/data/com.vsco.cam/files/images" and unless I root I wont have access.
Now heres the cycle of stupidness which I think you all can guess. In order to root -> I need to unlock my bootloader, and to unlock my bootloader -> I need to factory reset!
I've tried just about everything to root my phone without factory resetting, so far none has succeeded.I contacted the devs for VSCOcam and they told me to highlight the photos individually and export... are you kidding me??
What should I do? Should I just bite the bullet and lose ALL MY PHOTOS?? The app is currently listed as 12gb in size thats so heartbreaking!!!
TL;DR - VSCOcam hid thousands of photos in "/data/data/com.vsco.cam/files/images" which is unreachable without root, and to root means to factory reset my phone wiping all the photos I'm trying to get in the first place...

I wonder if you can't use something like Helium to make the backup. If you're not rooted, it uses ADB to make a backup (I think). See where you get with that. If you can get them on your hard drive, they should be yours for the taking.

Thank you for the suggestion, but I've already tried that, when I connect it to my PC Helium tells me the app is not supported and contact the app devs.... It was one of 3 apps that wasn't supported.
I could only laugh at my misery. :good:

Have you tried running an ADB backup manually from the command line? http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-nexus/general/guide-phone-backup-unlock-root-t1420351
adb backup -all ??
What's the problem with exporting them then? Am I missing something?
Yes, I think you are. I had a look for VSCO and came across a post in January from mobscene asking exactly the same question, and I can see what he's getting at. This is what VSCO tech support say:
https://vsco.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/200435135-VSCO-Cam-How-do-I-save-my-images-
"You can save as many items as you want from your VSCO Cam library by simply tapping once on each image, and then selecting the share icon."
Since the images are stored in data/data, inaccessible via a file explorer on an unrooted phone, mobscene can't do a straight drag-and-drop.
And, as he says, before he can root the phone he'll have to unlock the bootloader, which will wipe the images. Catch 22, sort of defeats the point of the exercise.
But if this has been going on now for eight months, the manual export (tapping multiple images at a time and exporting - the VSCO site shows multiple select is possible) could have been done by now. An enormous effort, I get that, but if the photos are important enough then maybe worthwhile. Looks like the only option.

[Completed] Any way to recover DCIM folder contents from Note 7?

Hi, hope someone can help...Saturday morning I connected my Verizon Note 7 to my computer and went to copy over some content to my PC and I accidentally deleted the DCIM folder from my phone's internal memory when it momentarily locked up. It deleted instead of copying it. I had not copied anything over to the PC so there is no backup data there.
In the DCIM folder was about 1000 pictures and videos of my kids and family from the last 4 months, everything prior to that was backed up elsewhere already. The most important thing is pictures and videos from my daughters wedding in November! Those videos have huge sentimental value and are unfortunately irreplaceable!
Everything I've read online hasn't helped at all, the phone is not rooted or anything and I haven't rooted a phone since maybe 2010? Not sure what's even involved in that anymore. I'm pretty sure I'd need to do that to make my internal storage show up on any of the recovery apps but I'm honestly clueless with the app names and acronyms I've seen while researching this issue.
Any insight to how I can recover this data is appreciated! I typically backup my phone more often and it just slipped my mind recently. Was going to backup this morning since my Note 7 got turned off yesterday.
If anyone can help, it would be incredibly appreciated!!! I don't know where to turn to. If this is posted in the wrong section, I'm sorry for the mistake, feel free to move.
Thank you!!!
Hi !
You can try this tutorial
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...de-internal-memory-data-recovery-yes-t1994705
Or you can Google search for DCIM android folder recovery
Good luck !
