Galaxy S6 Network Unlock - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been out of the rooting and messing with phones since the galaxy s4 days because of school, but I remember that it was possible to network unlock the s2/s3 and s4 (I think) by rooting the phones.
I recently got two galaxy s6 locked on koodo/Telus here in canada on marshmallow as a gift for my brothers. I have payed 3 users on ebay to get me a unlock code, but each of them have back with no unlock code found. Now I am wondering if it is still possible to unlock the phones by rooting them. I can't find anything concrete by googling.
Also why can't the sellers find unlock codes for my phones and is there any way to fix it.

Try a different place other than eBay to unlock the phone. Also unlocking carrier and rooting are 2 different things. The answer is no

I know that, but during the s2/s3 era you could permantly network unlock the phones after rooting them, it was literally as easy running a app from the google play store and giving it root permissions, I guess its no longer possible.

the s6 is unlocked for other contries.....flash a new zealand modem or other english country radio to it.....has to be same model tho but on forgein company.....so the radios will match but itll think you are in a different company other then the original....as in sprint s6 from america to a britsh exact type company ....i had someone do it for me thru a program but i know thats what they did i just dont know the exact modem they used...they flashed it via ad modem area in the secret menu crap...lol long story bro fr....lol but try it... *edit* BACK UP ANYTHING YOU DO ..IE..NANDROID TITANIUM ..ETC...BACK UP EVERYTHING RIGHT DOWN TO THE RADIO....or you mite regret it...

Can you link me to this thread, I can't seem to find it anywhere

Hmmm? What thread? Lol my comment was for for bro tryin to network unlock thats the only way i know how to is yo trick the phone into thinkin your in a diff country then the original .....gt apps and i done for the s6 does the same thing ill see if i xan find the old gtapps apk so you can see evrything that its on ...otll show you your country code and all ....as for the radios youll have to do some digging to find one that matches but thinks your in a forigen country ....but use idones gtapps apk ...googles ya friend lol the old free one and itll give you a friggin butt load of info on your phone ..give you quick access to ur secret menu and more ...if i can fond the page that hosts the old apk ill link it ...but an actual thread on how to do it dont exsist since idone kinda charges for it
---------- Post added at 02:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:41 PM ----------
But plz remember to back up everythong you do ..doing it ur self for free is good i.like free but dont be dumb and brick phone bro ....ether idone can do it for a $ or you can do it ur self for free. But you risk fn up if you do it wrong ...but odin and samsung switch can bring your phone back with backups and i think titanium will too ..hell ive never had to but i think custom recoveries will restore back ups too

UNLOCK i337m 4.4.2 nc1 -14.99

first off im posting this here because this is where most ppl might come to look for this info
2nd im sorry to say this isnt a software solution
3rd im only posting this because i feel it may help others
s4 rogers i337m canada
os 4.4.2
nc1 org everything never messed with secret menus blahblah
i went to cellunlocker.net
and i really didnt wanna do this but the guys here in town vegas want 50$ to help me unlock it when he said 2days for a code i figured id try a code myself
ordered @ 8am got code by 2pm in email i was soo skeptical but it worked 8 digit code i thought it was suppose to be a 6digit but whatever
ok biggest thing is make sure you select i337m galaxy s iv 4
and when asked u put correct carrier locked to .... i really figured i had just gave 14.99 away but nope it worked i put my h2o simcard in it it asked for a code i put code and it worked
some people were talking about fastgsm.com but on the the checkout it says they cant unlock anything above a certain baseband and im like wtf ? so some services want to tunnel over net into ur pc and over your phone remote and those wont work at least not on my nc1 baseband 4.4.2 and free unlock way isnt avail to me anymore cause of that
im sorry if this post is stupid but i wanted to let anyone needing a unlock know 14.99 should get them unlocked with cellunlocker.net
now i did read that if you played around in your service menu that using a code might not work idk about that but hey i figured 15$ gamble was better then wasting 50bucks or 40bucks locally
now i can jump on wifi and see what the heck this s4 is trying to do with a update cause wifi kept trying to auto downoad a update even tho it was unchecked so i kept it off wifi untill now
woot woot waiting 6hrs sucked but its nothing compared to olden days of waiting a week for the org carrier to email u back the code

It works but you have to know what you're doing with it. Did you contact Tmobile for unlock code. We unlock and blacklist repair the Sprint, Tmobile, etc. The Tmobile ones have to go through that app during the process

yea man i called...they sent an email with instructions.. email stated this phone doesn't require an unlock code as it has a built in unlock app. follow the directions below blah blah balh
bottom line, it doesn't work. why? because there's hidden rules and crap that need to be met 1st by t-mobile. prepaid people need to spend at least 100 dollars in refills before the phone is eligible. post paid people need to have the phone active on t-mobile for a minimum of 45 days and your account cannot be cancelled during that time.
well seeing as how i'm on prepaid... i walked in, made a new customer purchase as a post paid user, then cancelled my line after i got my gear vr and netflix code... which wasn't even 30 days. I can't unlock my phone, So I'm now on prepaid gonna see if I can after 100 dollars in refills
Try to use UnlockRadar for any phone using Device Unlock App from T-Mobile, including the Galaxy S7. You can find more here: https://www.unlockradar.com/service/t-mobile-usa-device-unlock-app-official-unlock

I use ebay to get my unlock codes, unlocked maybe a dozen phones in the last few years and never had any issues with anyone.
A couple reliable sites I've used many times are www.unlockbase.com and www.cellunlocker.net . There's also a thread over on the s6 general forum of a member named stifilz that can unlock your device via USB cable, his service is free but a donation is always a nice gesture. Good luck!
Sent from the silver bullet 930F Running Superman Rom
kinda ridiculous you have to pay to get an unlock code still. My SM-G930FD i bought unlocked locks itself every time in install a T-mobile csc and the app wont even run on that phone
Hi can anyone help? I bought an At&t S7 Edge on amazon and got the unlock code from the vendor and it apparently worked. My only issue is that it'll only work with the sim that was in the phone when I entered the code. If I use another one the phone keeps displaying "insert sim". Thanks already for your replies
Thanks for the reply and there's 1 more things I need to mention: I'm using the phone overseas (Haiti) as it's still under At&t contract. Now to answer your questions no it doesn't ask for the unlock code anymore but like I said it only works with the non At&t
sim I used when entering the unlock code.

s7 (sm-930f) lock to Austrian A1 was not able to be unlocked by unlockbase.com. However, the nck from cellunlocker.net worked well.
Ok so what im mentioning is something im still not getting quite well, but i saw before many samsung phones S6, S7, Note... etc that have the international firmware 9XXF/FD even when the phone is actually a T-Mobile version or AT&T, in download mode you will be shown the real phone model but the firmware isn't. Of course through Odin with a PC you won't be able to flash the phone with a firmware besides the one designed for it. If you actually wanna flash the phone you'll need the original firmware, i tried it before and flashed a Verizon S6 that had the international 6.0 firmware on it through Odin and as you might guess i got an error as the device didn't match the firmware, when i actually flashed it with the correct Verizon 7.0 firmware it worked and the phone booted and worked alright, except that now the phone is network locked! downgrade isn't possible unless i use a repair firmware and a pit file (not sure if still works with nougat). Then i got the idea of actually using the repair firmware and the pit of the 9XXF version as its network free, and ended up breaking the phone completely. The jig didn't work so couldn't access odin. So i work for a friend of mine in a repair workshop PC, Consoles, Mobiles... blablabla and we have the Z3x box, it did unbrick the phone, and then i started playing with it to see what it can do, and there is an option to actually flash and mix different parts of the firmware, so i went an flashed the bootloader of the Verizon firmware with the rest from the international firmware, it didn't boot at first but somehow i got it into recovery mode and after a format it did boot, and the network was actually unlocked after.
I do not think this method would work on all versions, as some samsung phones uses the snapdragon soc while others uses the exynos soc, and i don't think you can mix those firmwares, but an unlocked exynos model might be unlockable with the international firmware, of course considering the risk of breaking the phone, but if you're lucky as i was and have one of those boxes you shouldn't be much afraid.
Something else i'd like to mention, is that the Z3x can actually fully backup the phone, and i don't mean a nandroid backup like TWRP but like a full partitions backup, and the idea i got but didn't test is if you have for example a locked S7 and an unlocked one and same model so let's say 930P, you can actually copy the raw partitions from the unlocked one to the locked one and i don't know, maybe ending up unlocking it too, again didn't test this one as i only have one S7 and its already unlocked (930FD).

How to Install another Model's Firmware?

I have the Galaxy s7 Edge SM-G935V (the Verizon model) and live in China, so I need to flash a SM-G350 rom. How to do this?
My phone is rooted, and I have tried do this through odin, but each time I get errors saying "Secure Check Fail : Pit".
I then tried to install TWRP, but I get an error each time, saying "dm-verity is locked". Apparently this isn't possible on the S7 phones yet, from what I've been told elsewhere.
How can I install another models firmware now? I know they are compatible, before my phone crashed it was running a Chinese firmware and had no issues.
As a bonus, if anyone can aide me, I shall send you 100 RMB through WeChat or PayPal.

From what I've read here on this firmware, people spoof other firmwares all the time, I don't see what the problem is?
It's my phone, I should be able to use it to connect to a service I am paying for (a 4g network). I don't see anything ethically wrong with that.
Oh really u change the imei number through this method ...u can get arrested for imei spoofing ...people like u flashing international roms on carrier models then selling the phone making the phone looks like its international model making idiots out of those people who are noob and there are no updates in a converted phone....i urge everybody please dont tell him how do it i have already seen so many phones on market which are imei spoofed converted phones

This isn't for selling, I'm just trying to use 4g in the country I am working in... I am personally for free and more open phone software, it's like having a car and not being allowed to do body work to it.
Please don't accuse me of being some crazy hacker selling and spoofing phones. If you don't want to help me, then just let the thread die rather than give me more attention.
Besides, the model number is written on the back. If it wasn't matching the firmware, then how could I ever sell it? And who would ever want to buy my phone with its Chinese software? People here only care about iPhones, there's little interest in Android phones. Also, although I am not a citizen of China, there is nothing illegal here about messing with your phone. Once you buy it, you can do anything you want to it without repercussions.
When its says in about in software its g9xxxf model while its actually g9xxv model (verizon) in odin mode... Most people coming from IOS dont know this... U still cant use 4G on ur phone even if ur imei spoofed its the same way of saying hey i can unlock the bootloader on that model so i can just flash that rom and i unlocked nope not gonna happen ...what u can do exchange ur phone for international model just give the seller where u bought from more yens tell him i want to use 4G he will swap u the one u want
Before my phone crashed, I was using 4g on this Verizon model here in China. It crashed to the point where even forcing it off and restarting it would result in the phone staying at the Samsung logo indefinitely.
After reinstalling the firmware, I can use 4g to get on the internet, but not to call anyone (which as possible beforehand!).
Thus, I need to reinstall the Chinese firmware, or find a way to spoof it somehow.
Changing the IMEI is illegal in most countries and the discussion thereof is strictly prohibited on XDA.

They can be carrier unlocked after 1 year of service. If you have forgot to reload or run out of minutes, the timer restarts. This goes for straight talk and tracfone (as far as I know).
I also have a J7 Sky Pro and i really need it carrier unlocked and would like it rooted. I am currently figuring this thing out so i may be able to help.
anyone get anywhere on these tracphones yet???
here's a reply to the after one year unlock above, if I wanted to hear that I wouldn't be here. I OWN this phone, I have a receipt where I purchased the phone cash from a retailer. There was no agreement, issued, signed, nor agreed to what I had to do with the phone after I purchased it. If I choose to unlock it and use it on any network I choose including ones out of the USA, that is my business. Now as far as bootloader, ok it's unlocked, now what is the next move here??? Sorry to sound crass but if you can't add to the conversation with REAL information stay on the porch.

Tracfone security is tough. The only possible way to root it would be to find a leaked engineering firmware online somewhere and flash it to the phone. Then try king root. Also, unlocking would be kinda useless for this phone. The bands for this phone do not support ATT or Tmobile. It's a Verizon device since it ends in VL.
Now if you bought the 737TL version, unlocking would make more sense.
I'm samsung illiterate and really need help.
I hope I'm on the correct thread. I really need help. I won't use the correct terminology but hope someone is fluent in dumb blonde. My phone broke so I went to Wal-Mart and bought the j7 sky pro because it said it's powered by T-Mobile and that's my network. After powering on I was told my SIM wasn't valid. I googled the phone and learned about unlocking. So I went on YouTube to learn how only to discover that it's supposed to automatically show a screen asking for an unlock code. My phone however does no such thing. If I purchase an unlock code how do I enter it? It's really important because I have a 3 year old with special needs and in order to get to dr appointments for him we use uber but to install uber on my new phone I need a code to be sent via text and since my network is locked I can't receive texts. This could literally be a matter of life and death for my child. I can't afford another 100 dollar phone and without uber don't even have a way to get to a store to buy one. Any help would mean so much

Type #83865625# (#TFUNLOCK#) and it will prompt for the unlock codes. Yes codes. There should be two of them. As for root, I am working on it. Ive come pretty close already but don't wait for me to do all the work, go find the engineering system or engroot and post it.

Sprint Galaxy s8 sim unlock

Hey there, I want to sim unlock this Gs8 I got from Sprint, Model: Sm-G950U , Software version: G950USQS2BQL1, I received an unlock code but was not able to input the code because it just said sim error contact sprint immediately, Unlocking by sprint isn't a choice as they extorted money out of me, I really want my galaxy s8 to be in service again any Idea where to start? Any help will be much appreciated , I come from a background of good software knowledge so other approaches are good too.
Sprint extorted money out of you?
Extortion is illegal in this country...
Does your phone asks for codes or not?
If it doesn't ask for code you can try the following 3 methods, however, they are not 100% guarantee to work:
Method #1: Go to the dial screen on your phone as if you are going to make a call and press #7465625*638*# Once prompted for code, enter the 8 digit Unlock Code.
Method #2: Go to the dial screen on your phone as if you are going to make a call and press: #7465625*638*UNLOCKCODE#
Method #3: Go to the dial screen on your phone as if you are going to make a call and press: #0111*UNLOCKCODE#
If none of these work, also check if your phone's IMEI is clean and not reported or blacklisted by Sprint.
Sprint phones are usually unlocked one of two ways and neither has anything to do with a code. One is via Sprint with an OTA thing. The other is via root + a 3rd party tool like z3x, Octopus, or something similar.

Need to SIM unlock Sprint galaxy s8 (also fear it may be "black listed" unpaid lease)
I bought the phone from someone and thought it would work but I was trusting instead of smart.. Should've checked it out first. Anyways im negative a couple hundred $$ and I would love if some one would be able to help guide me through unlocking the SIM and if necessary rooting etc. To make it work for my Metro PCS account. In short I need to be able to I assume "SIM unlock" my S8 and hope it'll just be ready to pop my metro SIM into it and it works. Any advice? Will it work if I can just unlock it and use my metro SIM? Or since its an the lease hadnt been fully paid will that be a problem... Ive checked on a couple sites that let you see the IMEI number and if its black listed but it isn't... Please help.

Correct. It IS an advertisement - and not a very good one. He obviously has no knowledge of phones whatsoever if he thinks that Sprint devices use codes
I too have a Sprint phone which I wanted to unlock with the help of information here on the site. Since you won't be able to use unlock codes, and also bcause when I called Sprint they wouldn't help me -told me to contact the seller of the phone to have it unlocked, I was desperate for any unlocking method. Hard to find a working one and didn't want to waste too much time (old Galaxy S5 was already at it's last breath) I made contact with one of the unlockers here on XDA and one was able to unlock it remotely for me. I did pay $15 but with the crappy internet I have and since most unlocking sites are asking $39 for unlocking S8 then I really didn't mind this $15. Took well over a few hours to do since I had to download combination file for my phone which took a while. It's unlocked now thanx to vosi7en here at xda. I do have 1 problem now and that's tethering.....I don't have the option to do any hotspots. Anyone have an idea? I can't root yet cuz I'm on latest Oreo now.
