custom workouts with s health? - Samsung Gear S3

Hi Just wondering if there was a way to do a custom workout in s health then add to phone. Or is there a third party app that works on the watch to do this?

Or how do I get the ''otherworkout'' to at least record my heartrate

I too would like to know if this is a possibility. Seems like a pretty major oversight in my opinion.

I lift weights and the only s health workout i can find that doesn't pause constantly and still measures my heart rate is a treadmill workout. it doesn't use the gps feature, and records my real time heart rate. I left feedback for the same exact thing on the appstore for S Health.

Absolutely. There is a definite cardio benefit, when lifting at a high enough intensity, and it's generally a good visualization for me to see what my heart rate was doing when lifting, so I know if I need to turn it up, or if I'm where I want to be.
There needs to be a "General" or Weight Lifting" option, with the continuous HR monitoring.
Come on, Samsung.

I agree entirely, Samsung needs to add a general strength training or weight training option which also records heart-rate! It is cumbersome and impractical to have individual exercises for weight training not to mention lack of HR for those exercises.

Heart rate tracking while doing a workout

Hello,
my S3 frontier only tracks the heart rate when I´m doing nothing and not while being active.
As soon as my watch recognizes any activity, the heart rate is not being tracked anymore, whereas outside of any activity, the heart rate is tracked about every 10 minutes. Is that normal?
Thanks for answers
When you say "active" do you mean a workout or other planned activity?
When I start a workout on my watch (e.g., elliptical) my heart rate is shown on my watch the entire time.
So sounds like you mean you're just being active (not starting a workout type on the watch) and while you're doing that you can't get a heart rate from the watch?
I work as Tennis Coach and sometimes in Group Training, I Start playing myself. The watch recognizes this as "other workout". I dont start a workout by myself on the watch. And in this time, the heart rate stops being tracked. If I want to track it manually it says that I have to clean my wrist. So it seems that the sweat stops the watch tracking my heart rate. I dont know

GPS accuracy improvements?

Does anyone else have issues with the GPS accuracy? When looking at the map on activities, it seems pretty close. The total distance it records is way off. Over 25%. At the third lap around the track it's saying I hit a mile... If I look at the map, it shows me on the track for each lap. Don't get it. Any recommendations?
Same issue here. I'm constantly seeing 33%-40% less total distance when running short laps (~400m). Have returned my watch.
I used my watch >10x without any issue.
To all who believe having problems or concerns, please keep in mind the gps accuracy is limited by its technology. Every device calculates, averages and interpolates a bit different. And even after a gps fix it may need some time ...seconds,minutes... to find more satellites until max accuracy has been reached.
In general i would not expect a very precise value at short distances like 400m ...
the problem nice spoken / beautifully spoken
without any solution
It seems to me that, because of a low GPS refresh rate, it goes wrong when you make a turn. Instead of recording a distance of A+B, it records sqrt(A^2+B^2). Makes me feel less good about myself after running
At least, this happens when I let Google Fit record my running session. It might be that GPS refresh rates are determined by hardware, in which case using another application will not improve this. If it is determined by software, other running applications may work better. Anyone any experience?

calibrate altimeter

does anybody know how to calibrate the altimeter on the watch 2? it does work very precise tracking how many meters you ascent or descent while out and about, but knowing your excact altitude depends on barometric presure which is variable and needs calibrating. there is one standard watch face included called 'outside' on the watch which shows pressure and current altitude, but i cant seem to find a way to calibrate the altimeter. anybody any ideas?

Did you ever find a way? I'm at sea level and it tells me I'm -21m

It's not that simple, and it's probably nothing that should be calibrated too. Giving you the altitude, based only on the barometic pressure (which is the sensor that the watch has), it's impossible. You need the local temperature too. Since the watch doesn't have a temp sensor, it relies on the temperature received from the internet to calculate the altitude. So, if the temperature is not accurate enough, it wil show you incorrect altitude "readings".
you can calibrate it by tapping the weather icon on Outdoor watch face ( see https://consumer.huawei.com/en/support/faqs/detail/?id=154328&name=HUAWEI WATCH 2 ) .It has nothing (or very little) to do with temperature. Altitude can be directly estimated from pressure, the problem is that air pressure varies over time (cyclone, anticyclone...).
More to the point is how to calibrate the barometer. It reads way too low (by 9mb/hPa).

Gear sport persistent heart rate warning

I'm loving my new gear sport especially with the look, speed of operation and battery life for a full colour display due thanks to Tizen ecosystem. I have been looking for ages for some way to have an alarm when my heart rate goes over say 150bpm. I would like it to be persistent until my heart rate drops below that level again. I did find an app called heartby which does pretty much just what I want except for when the screen times out and it no longer sends me alarms. I have tried to contact the developer, but haven't had a reply yet. I understand that the watch isn't meant to be relied on for any medical condition and don't have a heart condition but this would really help me out. Does anybody know of an app which I could use or a system setting that might achieve this. At the moment I use the other workout option in samsung health. I Just changed my age to an age which will give me the maximum heart rate I want as the zones can't be manually set up but it isn't persistent.
After a long period of time, researching all over the internet & talking to Samsung, I now finally have an app that gives me a warning when my heart rate goes over a set amount. I can program the notification value, vibration intensity & amount of vibrations using the gear watch without having to be connected to anything else.
"Heart Rate Graphic" by Igor Cherneyshov is well worth installing on your gear watch. It's even free. If you want heart rate notification, install this app. Been looking since December for this basic feature.
Thx for your answer Fipoly, i am looking for an app measuring low or irregular heart rate, alarming - messaging/calling contacts/assistance....
I use the SOS feature where you press the bottum button x3 with a 5sec countdown. Don't think you'll find an automatic way of doing it. You can user Monitor by appyhapps for low HR but nothing for irregular as the watch isn't accurate enough.
I'm finding HR graphics is chewing up my battery since the tizen 4.0.0.2 update. Hoping for a fix soon.
I need a vibration warning when my heart rate goes over a specified rate. Can you let me know if you find something.
I just found this app and going to try it out. Unfortunately it costs around $1 but don't mind paying for an app that does what we want. I will update this after I've tried it for a while.
HR monitor plus
By Roger van Hout
Unfortunately the app only works while the screen is on with it displayed. It stops monitoring HR when screen is off or app is in background.
Have contacted designers, but no one has emailed me back at this stage
After time, somehow the heart rate graphic app is now working better on my watch. There was no update of the watch or the app but somehow is gone back to the battery usage I used to get. It's a stand alone app on the watch so should and does use less power than others I've tried. I love the customisable amount of vibrations that you get as you know without doubt that your heart rate is too high and will repeat until your heart rate is back to an acceptable value. The only downfall is it doesn't have a minimum heart rate warning but the more I think about it, I realise that I don't really need it myself.
I was able to get a full day out of the watch with the heart rate graphic running. Still don't know why I only got a few hours with the same phone settings and apps running before, so hopefully the problem doesn't come back.
I only bought the watch originally to get a warning when I went tachycardic without having a non watch looking monitor on my wrist or having to wear a chest strap, so was so frustrated until I found heart rate graphic.

Samsung Gear Sport Questions

Greetings,
I really want this watch but have a few specific questions to ask before purchasing that I can't find anywhere else:
What sport profiles are available? SUP? Kayaking? Open Swim?
Does it work with an LG V 30?
Can you create custom interval workouts with this watch or third party apps such as 2 minutes on and two minutes off?
Thank you in advance!!
Using the widget on the watch I can see the standard activities are walking, running, cycling, and swimming.
Would love to be able to switch running with kayaking or indoor rowing machine.
On the app settings on the watch it can auto detect walking, cycling, elliptical trainer, rowing machine, and "dynamic workout" - this is the catch all option for any vigorous activity.
Would be much better from a logging point of view if a better range were selectable.
I think there also ought to be a way to get heart rate monitor to switch to continuous while exercising.
