Why can't the clock vibrate if not email notification sound is selected in the phone? - Samsung Gear S3

I use the stock email app on my S7 and don't want to have a sound when an email is received. But removing the notification sound in the email app on the phone also makes the clock stop vibrating when I receive an email. Why is that? I have notifications in the email app turned on.
I want the phone to be silent when I receive an email but the clock to vibrate? Can that be done?

I'm facing the very same issue.
Before Gear S3 i was using Gear 2 and regardles of phone settings for particular app, notifications on watch (sound and vibrations) were working independently.
Now Gear S3 settings seems to be overriden by phone settings - in other words if notification on phone is vibrating then watch is vibrating, if i change application on phone to stop vibrating then regardles of watch settings, also watch stops vibrating.
The only way to have silent phone and watch vibrating is to set application to have vibration on and make whole phone silent.
That sucks - is there any way to change that behaviour ??

Why are my Notifications Silent During Call?!

I am noticing that when I am on a phone call my alerts are silent. The phone will vibrate when a notification comes in (for example a text message) but it will not play my alert tone. This is a problem because if I have my phone on the charger while I'm talking I won't know if I receive a text message until I get up and check my phone. Does anyone know a way to make it so that I can hear my alerts when I'm on the phone?
Do you have the alerts tone volume turn up
Settings* sounds* volume

yes I do. like I said, I can hear them fine when I am not on the phone, but when I am on the phone they are silent. I am used to still being able to hear my alert tones even during a call, so this has been very problematic.
For those they may be interested in the resolution: After doing a little bit of digging I found out that the lack of in-call sound notifications seems to be a limitation of the stock android app. Because of this, I was forced to use a 3rd party application for my text messaging. I have installed Handcent and is providing me with in-call sound notifications for text messaging.

Phone set to vibrate doesn't actually vibrate for texts

This seems like the dumbest thing in the world. How come the phone will not vibrate for texts when set on the Vibration sound profile if you don't have it set to normally vibrate when the notification sound is set to normal?
I don't need it to vibrate when I get a notification sound, but if I set my phone to vibrate, I expect it to vibrate for every single damn notification/call/etc, regardless of what it's set to in the Normal sound profile. It should override all normal settings.
You're right. Its been a feature of AOSP since eclair. Wonder why HTC removed that option.
do you have the box checked in messaging settings to vibrate when messages are received?

no, as I said, when I have my sound on, I don't need it to vibrate. It just baffles me that this doesn't automatically come on when the phone is set to Vibrate.

[Q] How to set Ring, Vibrate, Ring&Vibrate modes

Hi guys,
On my nexus 5, I can set my phone to silent, only vibrate, only ring, ring&vibrate sound modes. However problem I'm heaving is that those modes work only for phone incoming calls.
But for apps like messages, email notification, fb ... I can not make it to go into all 4 those modes. If I go into app setting and for notifications if I check sound box and vibrate box - then my phone would vibrate even if it is set to ring mode. If I uncheck vibrate in app settings - then my phone will not vibrate when is set to ring&vibrate mode. It will only vibrate when is on only vibrate mode.
Is there a way to fix this so I can have silent, only vibrate, only ring, and ring&vibrate mode for calls and app notifications?

I use Llama for this. Tasker would also work.

How did you set Llama to get it to work. I have Llama but it does not do what i'm looking for; that is when set to ring only mode phone calls and notifications would ring/sound only. When set to ring&vibrate phone calls and notifications would ring and vibrate.
So far only way to make this happen is to go to every app and check notification vibrate when i want it to ring and vibrate. But this is pain in the b... to always change for every app.
Anyone

How to disable email vibrate notification?

Is it possible to disable the vibrate notification when receiving e-mails (using the stock e-mail app)? I want the visual icon to show up in the notification bar with no sound, just NOT vibrate. I want to keep the vibrate notifications for MMS, calls, etc..just not e-mails. This seems like a simple request but I can't seem to figure it out.
If its anything like the Gmail app then open up settings, inside settings, click on your Address [email protected], Then its inside there...
( I don't use the email app, sorry.. just a thought )
Settings --> General --> Notifications --> Select corresponding account --> UNcheck "Vibration" (unchecked by default for me)

Thanks for your response. The "vibration" option is grey so I can't change it. It is off by default anyways, but it still vibrates.
This is driving me crazy. Any recommendations for a different email app?
Open email. Touch 3 dots in upper right hand corner. Touch settings. Open notifications. Select email account . Turn off vibration.

If you're like me and always keep your phone on vibrate, this is actually a far more annoying issue than you would imagine. (The same fix can be used for Google Hangouts.)
If vibrate is not currently enabled under notifications and your phone keeps vibrating at you, it's actually because of your notification sound. If you change the notification sound to "Silent", your phone will no longer vibrate.

Yes, I always keep my phone on vibrate. If I switch it to silent, wouldn't that disable the vibrate from sms and calls?
No, those will still vibrate. You don't want to switch the ring tone settings, just the notification sound for your email. Go into settings, notifications, and then for the notification sound select "Silent".

Samsung Gear S3 will not vibrate if phone is not on vibrate

Hello all,
I just bought a Gear S3 Frontier which i am using with an LG G7.
My problem is that if the phone is not set to vibrate when receiving Facebook Messenger messages than the watch will not vibrate. if i put the phone on vibrate, the watch will also vibrate. this is the same also for normal sms.
Can i change this somehow? I would like my phone NOT to vibrate (basically just show on the screen that i got a message in FB messenger) and my watch to vibrate.
thanks
I had the same problem with the S3 connected to a Samsung phone (either Note 8 or Note 10, similar behaviour). The watch only vibrates when the message on the phone also triggers vibration. I wanted exactly the same behaviour you describe. I enabled the vibration on the phone for messages, but a Samsung phone also allows the vibration intensity to be set per type (i.e. calls, messages, etc.), so though vibration is enabled for messages, I set its intensity to 0. Now the phone does not vibrate on messages, but my Gear S3 does.
I don't know if the LG allows changing these settings similarly though...
