Can F8332 flash F8331 rom ? - Sony Xperia XZ Questions & Answers

F8332 has a little rom than f8331
i'm worry if flash cross device.

No unfortunately it will brick your phone until you learn how to modify the system then yes. Because some system partitions are design specifically for a single or dual sim variant.

No, not that I know of... There's the Deodexed version in these forums, and the Stock ROM. And Stock can't install Xposed...

Yup. I'm using it right now with almost no problems... Just have to use open camera instead of Sony, as the Sony one doesn't work... But yes, it does work...

Use the instructions in my thread to flash TWRP. I'm on my phone, so I can't give you the link, but it is in these forums... Then download the deodexed T2U ROM and remove aroma from the zip. Rezip and flash and all should be good.
EDIT: No, wait... Not the CM12. 1. The deodexed Sony 5.1.1... DO NOT FLASH THE CM12.1 ROM. IT WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE!

Nooononononononononono he meant the Deodexed Patch Rom. Other firmwares will not work on C3 unless said so.

Then don't select any wipe option .there is a slight chance of bootloop but you can always flash again with wiping everything clean if that happnes. try to exclude TA partition if it's present and don't worry the risks are really small
Don't forget to use latest version of flashtool
Thank you very much I did every thing and it work fine

LB root and XZ?

Hi
I have had my XZ for about a month now after an Xperia Z3 Compact. With the Z3C it took a little while before developer achieved root on locked bootloader with confirmed backup of any TA-data. I seem to remember that there was a bounty up for grabs for a while as well.
However. I see no such efforts being made to the XZ... The only option is to unlock the bootloader and thus void your warranty. The warranty is never a problem with a locked bootloader as I've had my old Z3C in for service a few times without any problems....
From what I've been able to find out, there are not many vulnerabilities in any of the XZ kernels that can be used to get root. And any other weaknesses I haven't been able to find either.
A last resort would be to try K*ngo Root just to be able to install a recovery and backup the TA partition. Ugly, but if it would work you'd just flash a fresh romantic over it and it would be gone.
Anyone with other ideas out there?

Until now... the only way to get XZ rooted is unlocking bootloader (if you XZ support it) ... Before do it is recommendable that you make a TA backup (Universal (Dirtycow-based) TA Backup v2)... to make TA backup you need Marshmallow (downgrade if you are on Nougat).

XZ rom on xzs

H! i was wondering if we can flash xz android on xzs. Also what happens if i flash G8231 ftf on G8232?
Thanks in advance
In my opinion, most parts are same. CPU, Bluetooth, WLAN and so on. Only the camera needs separate driver. The version of Android are same. It's OK and the benefits will be a stable ROM.
The difference of the version are only more space on internal storage and a dual sim. No really much difference to needs a separate ROM image.

Thank you! I was thinking to downgrade to a xz rom and root without unlocking bootloader
I think that it should work. Everything seems to be same as in XZ, everything except camera, but for the moment it's not needed.
So It should be possible to Flash 6.0 for XZ, backup TA and than Unlock Bootloader without worrying about warranty.
However I'm not sure how You want to Root without unlocking as it's not possible on XZ?

You have to try it out for yourself. It should work and you should be able to backup your TA partition. Worst case scenario you can just reflash it back to stock XZs firmware with flashtool.
I tryed to flash xperia xz rom and it failed.. Will try again in 15 days that will have more time to look around amd report the result
What failed? Error in Flashtool?
It has some protection against flashing fws for wrong devices, so it probably have to be XZ rom build as XZs rom...
Hi everyone,
I'm considering buying an XZs but noticed that there are no custom roms in this forum. Since I use Anroid without Google I like to be sure that I can use my phone with a clean custom rom.
From this thread I understand that it should be possible to use the XZ roms on the XZs - has this since been confirmed?
Thanks and cheers for replying

Even if You will loose camera, as XZ has different module and drivers.
Only reason for flashing XZ rom to XZs is to make TA backup.

Rooting is not that bad anyway.. phone become faster and cooler when those bloatwares are gone...
Drm fix and safetynet is the only thing i care about. hope some will always find a way to fix it in newer firmwares also...

But that is only for the H8216 (single sim) and H8296 (dualsim) 6GB - there is no build for H8266 (dualsim) yet xD
This wouldn't need a drm fix?
This also switches the Rom from xperia to pure AOSP?
Without the special features of the XZ working?
Not yet working for my best buy bought h8266. Says phone not supported.
My Xperia H8266 is also not supported...yet or never?
