Hello, I recently noticed some problems with my S7 and on S7 from my friend.
Please can someone try to reproduce this? Steps to reproduce are few lines below, thx!
Example images are in Attachments.
To reproduce:
NOTE: It is visible only in room without light, or some similar place.
1. Use provided image (IMG3) as wallpaper for "Home and lock screens"
2. Go to Settings - Display - Screen mode - use one of this three options: Adaptive display or AMOLED cinema or AMOLED photo
3. 1st - Navigate to Home screen, use scroll bar to adjust screen brightness to 20% - 40% and check top left corner of the phone (issues should be visible)
4. 2nd - Set screen brightness to 20%-40%, Lock phone, then press Home button and Swipe Up (you must have "pattern" as lock screen) -> display issues should be visible.

Did you try 4.th step? You must have "pattern" as lock screen and be in very dark environment

Try saving the image as png. Most probably it will be gone.

[Q] customis the smart cover lock screen

Hi all,
I am using smart cover for my mate 7, my question is how can I customis or edit the smart cover lock screen to add for example extra page or open, dial, send SMS, open the open the call log or change the background!
Thanks
I had same question , tried many times but couldnt change smart cover picture . also i am unable to find smart lock ? having problem connecting bluetooth to my win 10 vaio, it is connected but i cant send data from phone to pc ! it fails . but i can receive from pc to phone.
Same problem for me with Lollipop on me MT7-LT10
I have upgrade my phone (in local) with the official B324 and i can't change the smartcover background, even when i try to change it by the theme menu, its always the picture with a bridge.
@ sabkt : the smart lock is for me in the "locksreen" menu in "other" section
One more here how we can change this ????
Same. I am done with Huawei. First they take years to update, we'll probably never even see Android 6. Their build quality equals total ****. I have had a replaced display by service center 2 TIMES NOW for screen bleed of whites and other lighter colors (in the middle of the screen, random places, etc. And then they manage to screw up one of the things they got right. The old clock and music player were amazing.
Same problem ... no solution???
Same problem here, and the impossibility to change the background it's very annoying
Whilst I wish I could change the picture, I don't miss music from the lock screen. I use PlayerPro and the built-in Music would override it on the lock screen plus it was forever randomly starting (Presumably I was catching the lock screen accidentally).
I having the Same problem too. After the update, I only can see miss call and message notification. I not able to see other than that to notification. Does anyone know how to configure this?
Same problems with me.
Is there some third party app which can to change default bridge picture theme on lolipop?
Also annoyed by this new lock. Want to at least be able to change wallpaper there.

Maybe new B331 have solved this???

This seems to be a general problem for Huawei/Honor phones.
I can not adjust anything on my Huawei G8 smart cover screen either. It's not the background picture that annoyes me, but that no notifications are display (except that the phone is ringing). Luckily I can switch off the smart cover screen. This way I can see the notification bar at least. Since I have enabled to show the notifications with a swipe over the fingerprint sensor I can view the top most notifications w/o opening the cover.

Hi all,
Try the EMUI Theme Editor app on google play - i havent used it myself for the SmartCover, but it has got an option to change Smart Cover background. Has alot of other useful tools to change EMUI.

Screen Burn Issue [Potential Fix] [Moto G4 Plus]

Over the couple of months, many Moto G4 Plus owners have been complaining about the screen burn issue.
Well there wasn't a fix for this through software except Blue Light Filter (which didn't work for me), and while trying for the fix, I feel I have found one.
Prerequisites:
1. Android Nougat (7.0) (I am running on the stock NPJ25.93-14 i.e the 1st December 2016 Security Patch)
2. System UI Tuner enabled.
No Root Needed.
My device is the Indian variant XT1643 i.e 2GB RAM variant.
For those who are on Android Marshmallow CM based Custom ROM, you can try using the live display and setting the value nearby 3000~3500K (Although I am not sure if this would work since I haven't tried it yet).
Its the Night Mode!
1. Go download the "Night Mode Enabler" app from the Play Store --> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.michaelevans.nightmodeenabler&hl=en
2. Open it and click on "Enable Night Mode".
3. It will take you to System UI Tuner where you can toggle night mode on/off.
4. Go to the quick settings edit option, and you will see a new tile - "Night Mode".
Toggle on the night mode and see the effect after some time (it started to show effect as soon as I enabled it and fixed the issue within 20 minutes for me).
[Q]. What will happen if I toggle off night mode?
[A]. The Screen burn will occur once again.
You need to have the Night Mode to be always on in order to get rid of that Screen Burn issue.
I know that many might not like the color temperature of Night Mode, so if you have a CM based ROM, you can edit the temperature with "Live Display" option.
Well, try it out and lets see if it works or not!
Credits : Mike Evans for making this app.
First of all, thank you for sharing this.
But your "fix" is just a workaround and not a proper fix for our broken displays.
The only real fix is to replace the display.

Umm, I guess you are right. I have changed the title now.
Even screen replacement is not a permanent solution. I have replaced display and within 3 weeks issue reoccurred
It fixed the issue
The night mode enabler has fixed the issue for now. But the screen is of some weird color(especially white background).
Anyways, Its good to see my phone screen without the screen burn issue after such a long time.
Thanks
RGB calibration is the best fix for screen burn in !
unfortunately if u r on stock rom ,Then you have to root ur device .

POCO F1 Screen Retention/Ghosting Image on custom ROM/Kernel [FIX]

Issue:
1.Some users (like me) must have faced issue of screen ghosting or retention in which if the device is used at max brightness, they see a ghosted image on sides of their phone. (Especially visible when switching from a light theme to dark, for eg, going in chrome incognito mode you will see it)
2.Usually it happens after flashing a custom ROM or kernel.
Fix:
Method 1:
1. In case if its a custom ROM, go to Settings > Display > LiveDisplay
2. Set the Color Profile to ‘Standard'.
3. Go to color calibration setting and set the following values:
Red at 90%
Green at 90%
Blue at 90%.
4. Keep the display screen of for some time (15 min) and boom! Issue solved.
[Note: Max brightness may feel a little less than before but its still better, you will get used to it]
Method 2:
1.In case you have a custom kernel, you can refer to other threads or manually set the values of Red, Green and Blue by yourself by using a ‘Kernel Manager App'.
Just keep it at minimum than its original values.
Conclusion:
This issue is NOT a hardware issue, its a software issue that can be fixed by implementation of any following methods.
Source:
I got through some other threads of Redmi having same issue. Just the difference is in the settings I used, you can customize it as per your own will BUT make sure that the ghosting does not appear by use of that setting. If successful, you may replay
What are you talking about??
This issue is not available in Pixel exp plus pie, is this a Stock rom issue??
but i didn't experience it for whatever hours i was on stock Miui.
It is not software issue, but the low hardware quality I presume

It is not the case that every user will face it. In case if it occurs, you may make use of these procedures.
Mostly, if you use max brightness and switch suddenly to dark grey, you can notice it (in custom ROMs / custom kernel ).

No it is a software issue. I am not talking about the yellow spot issue (that is hardware issue)
This one is ghosting or temporary burn in caused due to change in the default color calibration.
I faced it before but after trying the above settings, even at max brightness, the ghosting did not appear again. So it actually works.
Ghosting does not remain forever in LCD. So its not harmful to hardware in any way. (Just buggy)

I agree. Screen Retention or Ghosting is mostly present on other devices (I'm not talking about the Pocophone alone but on every other devices) and can be fixed via software implementations or updates. Changing color profile and/or color settings can be a solution too.

Can't it be issue related to bottom bar of chrome (u said when switching to incognito mode)?

Well it appears on every side of the screen and not just bottom. Even when I boot to twrp after being on a bright screen for long time, the status bar, some text and navigation bar appears. ... It fades away tho, not permanent as in amoled. LoL

I am neither using a custom ROM nor have done anything in past which can have these after effects. I am facing these issue or may be noticeable after the rollout of the MIUI11 ROM. So i contacted other who owns pocof1 , but their device don't have these issues. Then i contacted the service center and they reinstalled the MIUI11 but the problem persists.
So then i thinking of a screen replacement since i m on a warranty period so should i do that to solve this issue?.
Also u gave the settings to resolve the issue for a stock/CustomUI but wht for the MIUI , pls give the setting for them too.
pls answer all my queries!

This reply is pretty late, sorry for that.
1.You need to be rooted.
2.Download ColorChanger app from PlayStore.
3.Give root privileges.
4.Decrease the color in Custom1/Custom2/Custom3 by long tapping to these values:
R:240
G:240
B:240
S:1.00.
5.Save it (top left corner)
Con: You need to apply this every time you boot into your device.
You can upgrade to pro and enable “Activate on boot" from app setting to make this happen automatically.
I did it but it doesn't work, I'll consider change the hole panel
Can you take a look at the attached screenshot and confirm if these values are okay. Apart from RGB values, do I need to tweak anything else? Thanks in advance.
Oh I see, I got this problem, and realize I set livedisplay profile to dynamic. I thought my screen was wore out

This is a hardware problem, i tried everything and failed so i got original lcd folder replaced from the service center and now no screen retention.
I am from India itself, do you know which service center to go to? Since poco split from mi, am i in trouble or i should head to the mi service center. And my is under a warranty of 6 months and i'm in the 3rd month now....is it free or you got to pay money for the service?
Thanks in Advance.

LineageOS ROM with a Watermark???

Just as the title says, I have my A7 2017 (A7y17lte) with the official Lineage 16 rom (Android 9 Pie)
The problem is that maybe many did not notice but this rom has a very transparent "watermark", barely noticeable to the eye but once it is notes you can not stop seeing that detail, and it is not a small watermark, it is a screenshot where you can see the keyboard, the taskbar and an application that I can not distinguish well which is by that the image is very transparent.
This watermark remains on the screen at all times from when the cell phone is turned on until it is turned off, is there any way to remove it?

In the screenshot the watermark does not appear since apparently it is a layer that is on top, this layer or "watermark" appears about 3 seconds after turning on the phone, before the "boot animation" appears. "Then that mark of sgua remains on the screen until it turns off, it is not a problem on the screen and that image is not from my cell phone, the application shown in that image does not give any that I know or seen, only that that image is a screenshot where you can see the open keyboard, a blank app and the notification bar above

Question Videos don't use the entire screen ?

I bought a new phone (iqoo 7) after 3 years. I am not sure if this is an android issue/feature or a phone specific issue. I can't help but notice that while playing videos on twitch, prime, youtube etc. the display doesn't use the entire screen space. A significant part of both the edges is blank and it really bothers me and is not a very good experience while watching a video. If i pinch out and zoom the video to fit to the screen then it because it is zoomed, some parts/edges of the video can't be seen. I am not up to date with mobiles however i used android 8.0 in my previous phone and was always able to use the full screen while watching videos.
Please refer to the attached screenshots.

It is the default behavior of displays using punch hole cameras.
To change this go to "Settings -> Display & brightness -> Top-area display".
Then change the apps you want to be full screen from "Automatic fitting" to "Display the front camera".
It should do the trick.
