[Completed] Kernel Source Code Question - XDA Assist

Hi! I have the Energy X 2 MT6580 phone. I had asked BLU for the kernel source code, and they gave me access instructions for FileZilla. However, there is no source code for the Energy X 2, just the Energy X. They have the same chipset, and I belive they are the same kernel version. Could someone please look into this and tell me if I could use that kernel for compiling CyanogenMod12.1 from source?
Thanks

[Q]How to Upgrade Android Kernel from Linux Kernel source?

Hello I own MTK6577 based device. The problem is that the kernel source available for our device is of version 3.0.xx and because of that we are not able get JellyBean on our device. (The Source is available on github and its Generic source)
Can anyone tell me how to update the kernel source to the latest available.(i.e 3.0.xx to 3.4.xx or so) Please post link to guide if it's available.
Any Help will be appreciated.
Thank you In Advance
Regards.
PS: I have googled before posting the question but I am not able to get any relevant information as I don't know what exactly to look for ,most of the guides are for compiling kernel from source and please do not link to those guides.
anyone ???

[Completed] [Q] compilation: wlan - custom kernel - Redmi note 4G

Hi All,
Please guide me to the right thread to post this query I have...
===
I am facing a challenge in compiling and getting the wlan (pronto) driver working for my Redmi Note 4G.
After the kernel source was released I have successfully compiled the kernel and booted it up.
However, I found that kernel source which xiaomi released on github is missing the wlan source...
Due to this, I am not able to use WiFi on my custom kernel...
I did a lot of analysis and tried to get the code of Prima's WLAN with Pronto support from other device branches to get the WiFi working.
But I have not been successful so far...
Hence I request here to guide me on the following:-
1) In case this has already been answered successfully in another thread, please guide me to it. I was not able to locate it.
OR
2) Please help me along to successfully get the WiFi working on the compiled custom kernl from the source...
OR
3) Please give me enough evidence that I will not be able get WiFi / WLAN drivers needed for custom kernel on REDMI note 4G, in which case I will abandon XIAOMI devices and request everyone in my ability and reach to not buy their devices!
Kindly guide me...
I am a developer with good technical knowledge, but new to Android arena...

What is necessary if I want to compile a ROM?

Hi guys. 2 months ago I've came into Android World deeper than before and now I'm very fascinated. I downloaded linux, all the necessary files to compile a rom but I still don't understand some things.
My device is Redmi Note 2 and I use stock MIUI 7. As we all know mtk and/or xiaomi haven't released kernel sources (6795) so developers have to think hard how to make a rom. And there are my questions. Does kernel source is really necessary? What if I compile rom successfully and then port boot.img from stock? Will it work? However developers made some roms based on LP for this device. And I read that I need device tree and vendor, which doesnt exist for redmi note 2 or I still can't use github.
Second question which I have is: does compiling for 64 bit CPU differ from compiling for 32 bit CPU (like 6592)? If yes, could you give me some tips?
Ohh I think you can understand what I wrote
Thanks in advance and please dont blame me for silly questions
If you are looking to compile roms then you picked the wrong device to do it. They are the worst with kernel source. You can't completely compile a rom but use a patch system that does most of the work.
Yes it is different. There are some Tuts around but they are few as most don't use that type of chip.
If you really want to learn to develop then I would suggest getting a different device. One that respects the copyright and gpl laws.

To compile a rom u need kernel source, device tree and proprietary, bye

Vendor doesn't give Kernel source code.

Hello,
I'm trying to create a CM port for my Getnord Onyx device.
As far as I know, to do this I need kernel source code with all of it's patches. So I contacted manufacturer and nicely asked them to give me the source code, but they didn't reply.
What should I do? And I don't think that GNU General Public Licence is going to help me here (or can it, if so: how do I use it?)
Thank you!
The Linux kernel is licensed under GNU and they are required to release the kernel but alot of Chinese manufacturers don't do it. You can use a prebuilt kernel for cyanogenmod but don't expect new Android versions.

Is it possible to somehow decompile Kernel from my phone?

No, but you can use the prebuilt kernel for cyanogenmod but you won't be able to upgrade Android versions
Having the same issue with Blu. using the prebuilt kernel, is there any chance a newer Android version than what it came with would work?

[Completed] Proprietary blobs ZUK?

Hi, i don't know where/how to find the proprietary vendor files for ZUK Z2(normal) AKA z2131 but I've found on github the ones for Z2 PRO(z121) and so i was wondering if they might be the same because they have also the same soc?
These are the two:
https://github.com/hiikezoe/android_device_zuk_z2121
and
https://github.com/Mr-Bubble/android_device_zuk_z2121
They're so different, which one i have to use?
I need those because i was trying to port from source RR rom for my ZUK Z2, and not build it on a already-made cyanogenmod.
I'm new to this, thanks. And I'm not sure if this is even the right section, if not please move.
