After downloading from mirror, rename it from .bin to .hwt and then use
Thank you this works, but why do you named it with a different extension "bin".
I see no real advantage using your theme for me, because I personally use appex launcher and VENOMS VUI theme.
Icons there on settings are much pretty.
But for "EMUI HWstart launcher users" your theme is useful.
It would be helpful to show "before" and "after" pictures, so we can compare what's changed and see the advantage of your theme.

Are you rooted? If so, that could be the culprit...
When does this message appear?
Before the Login window, or on login process?
I tested this yesterday. I got 2 Login Choices : Google and via Account.
I created Account, validated Password via Browser an could log in on webpage.
But the App came with timeout after several minutes. 'server Problem'
Same with Google account.
I did not get the incompatibilty message on rooted KangVIP 211.
Then I unrooted via supersu, rebooted and had same problem.
I uninstalled and installed again, but same problem.
So I will wait until server problem message disappears and then root again and report about the result.

No, but I noticed that the author said he's working on 5.0 support. I doubt it would work, but I don't actually have the device in hand yet.
This app works! It's what I'm currently running on the Mate 9. Don't worry that it says for EMUI 4.0 because I've had absolutely no issues whatsoever on 5.0

I've seen several 4.0 themes here on XDA that don't work. I have no idea why the one I linked works and the others don't.

Nope. It only themes the icons in the stock launcher & the font of the lock screen clock. There isn't a decent material theme for EMUI5 yet. The most you can do is that you download this one and bake into it the pixel nav bar with the new beta theme editor.
I believe they changed the icon layout and color layout in EMUI 5.0, so the status bar and quick setting icons in EMUI 4.x no longer replace the stock icons when a theme is applied.

It is possible to change the folder style in stock launcher?
Test the EMUI Theme Editor form Playstore.

I just tried the launcher and it works. But there are no animations while opening/closing the apps. Any idea why?

So, After scratching my heads and working on this for 3 days, finally was able to prepare this and coming up with my 1st theme. This is based on Nokia 6 themes. I am new to this work so taken some references and came up with this simple theme. I know this is not the best but a good to start with. Currently, only lock screen, home screen, wallpapers, and icons are themed and not the entire settings or any application. I am working and learning and will come up with theming them as well.
This is 1st theme and will be updating this as I learn to theme other pages. Please bear with me if you don’t like the theme or comment below for any improvements, suggestion.
Tested on EMUI 3.0 and working fine.
Instruction-
Download the file.
Rename the file and replace .zip with .hwt
move the file to - HWThemes folder on internal memory
Open the theme manager on phone and select me (last tab)
scroll down if you already have few themes and check for this theme, select and apply.
