It says Verizon s7 in your post.......Verizon s7's come unlocked for most GSM carriers. Sounds like it could possibly be a network problem, sim card problem, or maybe incorrect APN settings. Could actually be a lot of things really but thats what comes to mind first. If I were you I would start over. Flash Verizon or U firmware and go from there, the U firmware can be found in the ATT s7 section.

I recently unlocked a samsung infuse for myself.if you ask why,i had a rooted htc hd2 with android on it for two years, changed something on my plan and I'm not able to upgrade for another year I got tired of my phone and tmobile had nothing interesting to get. Anyway lol I unlocked the infuse for tmobile and the phone is stuck on edge and it won't switch to 3g/4g.i asked tmobile how to switched they said any unlocked non tmobile phones stay on edge.I'm coming here to guys to se if there is a way around this. I tried the*#*#4636#*#*, it wouldn't accept the changes. Please if anyone knows how to fix this let me know. Also one more thing for some reason I'm not able to send text messages but I was able to send them a day ago but not anymore. I am still able to receive them, any info on that would help also. Thanx everyone.
First of all you cant use the hspa+ with a tmobile sim cuz they dont use the same bands and for the text messages go to messages and press the menu buttom and the message center and fill it with the t mobile message center numer

It sounds like you got your text issues solved, but as far as being limited to EDGE - Sorry, there is NO way around this. It's a fundamental limitation of the radio hardware in the phone. NO AT&T phones support T-Mobile's 1700 MHz AWS 3G band. A tiny handful of T-Mobile phones support the AT&T 3G bands but not the other way around.
Well thank you for your input guys. The text problem issue is solved, but there is a catch. I noticed when I shut my phone off when I go to sleep or to reboot, I have to keep entering the message center number. If not I keep having that problem with text messaging. Anyway to solve that issue?

Hey guys, im hoping someone can help me out. I also used to be a TMO HTC HD2 user but my screen broke and I couldn't fix it so I got an Infuse hoping to unlock it but after I did so I still had problems. The phone wouldn't let me choose the network operator so I flashed a few roms and am now on the Infused 2.2 rom but I still cannot make any calls. Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance.
I have a Verizon Galaxy S3 (SCH-I535) running Android 4.1.1. I was told by Verizon prior to moving to England that, with this version of Android which unlocked the "world phone" capabilities (GSM), that I would be able to use my phone abroad with a new sim on a local network.
Fast forward a few weeks, and I am in England with an Orange sim in my phone. I have no problems with voice, but I cannot access any data services (I have no trouble receiving texts, but cannot send them - I think this is a problem with the sim though). After searching around the internet for a while, it seems that the solution to my problem would be to add the Orange APN settings to my phone.
HOWEVER, Verizon's version of 4.1.1 does not allow you to edit APN settings! When you go to the APN menu, there is nothing displayed and the only settings option is to Reset to Default.
The closest thing I've found to a solution is here, but it's a bit out of date as the method isn't for 4.1.1. I'm a bit wary of rooting my phone and installing a rom, as I've never done anything like that before.
Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing that might be able to offer a solution? I would be willing to root my phone if necessary, but I'd need to be directed to a pretty explicit noob guide for doing that :silly:
Thanks!
Getting root is easy with the toolkit linked. Should you have any questions you can read the thread or search galaxy s3 toolkit on YouTube. Just keep in mind some videos are outdated and that you have a Verizon cdma galaxy S3 running 4.1.1.

Search this same thread and the APN fixes are here. There is also an APN fix in Note 2 forum that should work. Once you change APN should be good to go with Orange. Say hi to my Uncle in Birmingham. He on Orange also. Cheers.
What ended up being your solution?
I'm going to Italy tomorrow with a Verizon S3 and APN settings are locked. The phone is rooted and I would love to be able to use a local SIM on data!
Thanks in advance.

No solution yet. I'm going to look at the link above when I can get some time to sit down and focus on it. Hopefully it fixes it.
BTW, although it's billed as a CDMA phone, it is able to operate on GSM as well. That's the whole "world phone" thing that Verizon has been talking about.

I understand it's a world phone, but I wanted to drop that in because I wasn't sure if the Toolkit states "CDMA" under the device selection screen. I know the Galaxy Nexus or Razr Toolkit specifically stated CDMA. I just didn't want you to accidentally pick the wrong one. After looking at screen shots of the Toolkit you shouldn't have a problem it doesn't mention CDMA only Verizon is stated.
Unable to add APN.

Hey there,
Sorry for going there, but I have not been able to find a fix for adding in the APN on a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III. I have it on Cincinnati Bell at the moment, and have it rooted. I have voice and text, but not data. I have used the APN Manager Pro to see the APN that I need to use, but for some reason it will not use it or be able to edit it? Any thoughts?

Yes.
Get titanium backup pro and make apn mgr pro a system app.
You should be good after that.
This is confirmed working on Vodafone Italy and ill post results from China and hk in about a month
And please spread the word on this.
Spiting Verizon is my new favorite hobby.
I have a very similar problem. I have a Samsung S3, not rooted, but unlocked from Verizon. I have been in Kandahar for a month or so. My SGS3 with a local provider will make and receive calls great when coverage is there. My problem is, I can only seem to text local here not back to the US, or get email and no Google Talk. I went to the shop where I got my card here, they told me that Verizon needed to unlock my phone. I know it is unlocked but I made the call home, Verizon told me what I already knew. I went back into the store, once again, next they said Verizon needed to unlock my APN? I called again, finally I got a response from Verizon saying that Samsung needs to release the patch so Verizon can unlock it. If anyone knows of such a APN patch I would greatly appreciate it. My lap top screen got cracked during a patrol so doing all of this and email is quite the B!tch! I have always had success with this forum and hope it will continue. Once I send my lap top back home to be warrantied, I will not have any way of getting the usual business done for at least a month. I'm trying to hold off on the lap top until I can get my phone fully functional. I do not have internet connection on my phone, just my computer, I guess that is the APN, that is still locked. I could do all of this if I had WiFi, but it is not allowed here by the company that provides internet. They do have WiFi in some areas, but it is always bogged down with everyone else trying to use it. Also, I am not too sure if I want to attempt to do a root, the internet service here is very slow. Thanks for your help. Please remember, I am atleast 8 1/2 hours ahead of you, so response time will be delayed.
A very helpful member of GalaxyS3forums sent me here.
Hi guys, new to here.
I've searched high and low and I can't seem to find an answer.
I'm from the UK and have a BTU galaxy s7. I've just rooted it and have downloaded csc feature expert. Tried to enable wifi calling but nothing appears under phone settings.
Has anyone had any luck doing this? If so, info would be much appreciated.
It worked for me in USA on t mobile!! i didn't do anything special just outta the box connected to wifi and boom
I'm in the UK too, vodaphone network with wifi callinging activated on my account and similarly I can't activate in on my phone, because there is no "wificalling" enable selection on my Samsung S7 Edge phone settings, did you have any luck finding out how you can do it

According to the Vodafone S7/Edge forum Wi-Fi calling needs an update before it can be enabled. No idea when this will be out.

It's working for me, but I got my S7 from EE.
OK Thanks. I contacted Samsung and they say wifi calling isn't part of their software, its a service provider software add on. I know EE have their wificalling working, where you download an App, whereas vodaphone are saying you don't need to download any app, so as you've said, vodaphone are advertising under false pretences, becasue their wificalling isn't up and running yet.....you'd think they'd get a system that works first, before advertising the facility......a case of waiting to see when Vodaphone get their act together

To be fair to Vodafone (which is very difficult) their web site doesn't mention Wi-Fi calling for the S7 - only the S6. Several people on their forum have claimed that customer service told them it was enabled which doesn't surprise me in the slightest. As the new flagship phone why wouldn't it be enabled out of the box? Especially given EE didn't appear to have any problem doing it.
Anyway, I'm sure it will be along any time now... What I'd like to know is when they're going to enable Wi-Fi texts as well as calls.
P.S. You don't need an app for EE either. I believe EE and Vodafone work in the same way as opposed to O2 and 3 which use a separate app.

AFAIK, there is no way to get WiFi calling on the Exynos variant. Sorry, it doesn't sound like it will ever be possible, so don't get your hopes up.
Im hoping someone can shine a little light on a issue that im having.
I have a unlocked USA sprint S8 I've put Cricket in and it worked great, but when i installed the Verizon sim everything works but only when roaming.. Now if i turn roaming off and set it to CDMA/LTE then it'll show its using LTE BUT then i cant send or recieve any texts or calls unless i switch roaming back on. So my question is am i missing something, and can someone please help me or point me in the right direction so i can fix this? Im begging because if i go one more week with this Iphone i'm going to lose it. Thanx in advance for any help.
Not sure if this helps. But I have the unlocked version and went from Verizon then to Sprint with no problems

Thank you for the reply.
I hear Verizon is pretty easy going, I may have to try to find a verizon phone, but the only thats bothering me about that is I'd hate to do that if there's a way to fix my Sprint s8..
Im seriously burning brain cells on this one because even thought its working on verizon its not working correctly. Thanks again for your reply.
fixed the issue
So what happen with this issue was that the person that originally unlocked the phone did a half job, on it... So is it unlocked? yes but I suspect that he missed a step or two so I ended up going through the whole process from beginning to end, and that got it going.
Hey
Could u tell me how you fixed it I have the same issues as you had

10-23-17 Just an update this phone from best buy will work straight out of box with verizon no tricks as far as calls and texts other than you will have to set apn...
I could not get data to work at all with marshmallow but had no trouble calling and texting although it did show roaming with verizon but it's not an issue....
Upgraded to nougat and it would recognize verizon 4glte but verizon wouldn't let it connect to network so couldn't call or txt anymore...
Didn't root or anything fancy only had five days to play with it but now I'm willing to spend the extra for the regular 7 if i can still find one lol since how impressive the mini was....But if your not interested in updating to nougat and having call service everywhere pretty much it's a great phone indeed

Just passing present info on about this phone and what the average user could expect to have out of it while using verizon and to just let them know they will lose verizon calling and texting if they update to nougat and that they wouldn't have data with either update unless I missed a trick to try before I returned it...

No sir I think the nougat update has something in it to where it doesn't pick up Verizon's 1x maybe disabled it I believe it's something in the update to nougat cause calls and texts worked before just showed roaming so there's gotta be a magic trick somewhere to work again...as far as data without verizon accepting the device not so sure of a fix without maybe getting into something illegal such as changing imei maybe to a authorized one but even then I dunno if that would work nor pass prechecks ... but I returned phone to spend extra on the regular 7 soon as I have the money cause I really liked the mini so the regular 7 has to be even better ...
When I got my phone back in June, it was on MM. If I put my verizon sim and try to make a call, it would tell "unsupported device". Trying to activate online/at store yielded the same result. Moved to Tmobile cause of that and dont regret xD
