After installing twrp through Odin when i open the recovery mode, twrp shows up but none of the options work. like when i open wipe->Advance wipe->it shows only 'Dalvik Cache' and does not show any other cache and also when i try to delete Dalvik Cache it says failed. In the command list it says cannot find partition for system or data or for cache. please help!!

Greetings and welcome to assist. It sounds like you have installed an outdated version of twrp, try using this one and see if it works

It's awesome. Usually, wiping system, cache and data lasted like 5 or 10 minutes, I tested this recovery and it wiped everything so quickly. Thank you so much for this .
Edit: Installing works.

Here is TWRP for Moto E LTE with "Use rm -rf instead of formatting" enabled by default.
Moto E LTE uses f2fs format for the userdata partition and TWRP doesn't format it correctly by default, causing issues with mounting.
# README
Warning: backup any important data on your internal storage first!
Boot into TWRP and perform the following:
Wipe > Format Data > type "yes" then enter
This will format your userdata partition using mkfs.f2fs, in case it isn't already
Now, whenever you wipe data, TWRP will use rm -rf instead of attempting to format using make_ext4fs

When I try to format data it fails, it's unable to mount anything. My phone is a surnia XT1527. Now when I try to flash it says unable to mount /data.
wiped system, devlik cache, data, internal storage, chache. dont know how to restore
I had a problem with someone using remote spy software and hiding spy apps on my phone. I have a MOTO E 2015, XT1527. I had this phone rooted with a custom rom installed. my OS was lollipop.
I went into TWRP recovery and wiped:
devlik cache
system
data
internal storage
chache
USB-OTG
I did not have an SD card inserted at the time
I am not very knowledgable on all of this (not so tech-savy but can follow instructions), but I need to fix this phone asap.
My phone keeps re-starting and will not go any further than the boot animation screen (if that's correctly stated). I can get into recovery mode but that's it. I have no backups. recovery tells me that I have uninstalled the OS, which I'm guessing means I have uninstalled everything else too!
I don't know what to do from here, what to do first or how to do it, I do have access to a computer, and need help PLEASE!!! I have been looking up ways to fix this but cant find clear answeres directed to this phone and problem specifically.

Definitely wiped everything. You need to download a ROM, boot into recovery and install it.
So glad I found this thread! I'm using the latest 3.0.2.0 but this setting saved me from going crazy!
I was seeing too much red Big thanks!

Hello.
during this evening i wanted to flash my ONEPLUS One and to do this i downloaded a new ROM (BlissPop) as well as rooted my phone (unlock bootloader, installed TWRP and root the phone). Then i put the Rom.zip on a folder in the SD card (internal). I boot the phone into recovery and then i make a factory reset, wipe cache and dalvick and when i search for the zip to flash it i couldn´t find it anywere. So now i receive the message that i dont have any OS in my phone. I still have the bootloader unlock and i stil have access to recovery i only don't know how i put the zip file in sdcard (internal) because my computer dont recognise my phone when i connect it.
Could you help me to resolve this problem? it´s very urgent because i dont have phone now.
Thanks in advance
TWRP version installed is v2.8.6.0

Looks like you wipe your internal storage accidentally. Do you have MTP enabled in the Mount menu in TWRP?

Yes i have.
When I touch in the middle button in TWRP Navbar I could see the following information:
Updating partition details...
...done
Full SELinux support is present.
MTP Enabled
However the mount appears not working because when i touch in Disable MTP button i could see the same message.
I already try ADB sideload too but it fails.
Its quite strange because when I access the Wipe Menu, i have the following message:
" Factory Reset
Wipes data, Cache, and Dalvick (not including internal storage)"
then i have two buttons 1- Advanced Wipe and 2- Format Data
I touch the second. In the sdcard partition i still have the TWRP folder but whe don´t see the other folders. I have in the same partition a folder named ROMs where i put my new ROM but it dont appear to me.
many thanks man for your help.

Right now it's probably best just to use fastboot to flash the stock images to get your phone booting again. Go to section 8 of my guide:

you´re the one. Thanks a lot man my OPO is booting again .
I realise that I were very nooby here because TWRP has a slide button that says wipe for factory reset. I should to touch in this button regard the Format data button, its my fault and a very lack of attention. Fortunately there are guys like you.
Once agais, thaks a lot.

Great news. When wiping, it's probably safer to go into the Mount menu in TWRP, then select Advanced Wipe, and then you can select exactly which partitions you want to wipe.

It doesn't really matter where you put them, I have a dedicated folder for ROMs so they're easy for me to find. But as long as you use the Advanced Wipe menu and only select system, data, cache, and dalvik cache (not internal storage) you'll be fine.
It's stuck on system recovery:
reboot system now
apply update from ADB
apply update from external storage
apply update from cache
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
reboot to bootloader
power down
view recovery logs
I tried to update from external storage, but it says file not found
I' ve used wipe data/factory reset, still no use (I already have a backup in my laptop)
When I connect with my Laptop, it couldn't recognize anything.
Please help !!!

Hello dear

Thank you

Hi Guys
Im having trouble flashing new Roms to my S7. When I enter TWRP recovery, it shows my device as 0MB and it doesnt picK up any files. I looked into this and read that Encryption should be disabled on the handset. I followed instructions to do this and noticed that there is no option for Encryption Protection. Its not there!
I disabled any passwords and Pin numbers to erase decryption and it still didnt work!
last resort was to try a factory reset and the device restarted to recovery and failed as TWRP recovery cant find any mounted devices due to the encryption crap.
Any help appreciated.

Hi mate
Seems like you did not format your data partition during TWRP installation.........
Try flashing your custom rom from the External SD card......your data partition has all your app , files , passwords, photos...there is still a chance that there it may be a incompatibility issue between your apps and the new rom....that is why they recommend a factory reset when flashing a new custom rom

Hi
TWRP can not handle Samsung encryption . if you wish to use TWRP and have access to the Data partition ( internal SD card) you need to format it so the encryption is disabled ( you lose all your apps , data and user configuration AKA factory reset) , you can have TWRP and data encryption but mods and roms have to be flashed from external memories also you will not have available MTP in recovery or factory reset from it.
There is no way to disable data encryption without format data.....
Ok, I got a friends SD card and placed the Rom on there. I can now see the Rom but the trouble is, TWRP wont let me wipe Dalvik / data / system / cache as it wont mount the storage....
can I still apply the ROM?
Unable to restart your device. The integrity verification has failed. You need to reset your device to factory default settings. This will erase all of your data.

That is why I point it out " factory reset is recommended when flashing custom rom" if you wish to flash a custom rom you will have to format your data partition and flash the data verify file........

I have tried to format/wipe data. TWRP keeps saying it failed as it cant mount the storage.
I tried flashing the stock rom via odin and it also failed as it goes to recovery to wipe data and it fails again as it cant mount storage.

How did you flash the stock rom...which files did you use?
Wipe data is not enough you have to Wipe / FORMAT DATA and type yes....
1 To get rid of encryption, go to "wipe", format data (TWRP) (keyboard will pop up) then type "yes" and format it, then reboot to recovery
2. After flashing this, hit wipe, full wipe (this will clean all internal memory and your data will be lost
3 you can test if encryption is still enabled, if TWRP shows error about not mounting data your phone is still encrypted
