Recently i had the exact issue occur with my phone. (Alcatel's crappy charging port) This is what happened: My phone was charging very slowly and wasnt notifying me when plugged in (just showed lightning bolt in battery icon), when turned off only notification light would be on and phone would not say it's charging, when it was off i had to have to hold down all physical buttons on phone to power on. From a quick google search i found out that it was the charging port (since it wasnt any of the other possible causes) and i did the quick fix that a google result recommended i.e. Take a toothpick and gently angle tab in charging port up. My phone was charging just as quick and operating just as smoothly as it should. After about a month of my quick fix, im experiencing the same problem only this time my quick fix is not working. Phone just powers off and stays off, when plugged in notification light comes on but no matter how long its plugged in for the phone will not power on. I noticed the phone started to charge extremely slow, so i reached for my toothpick and got to work, but now im in a very confusing situation. Can anyone advise me on what i can do to fix this problem??
** Idol 3 5.5" Model, 6045I , Rooted, With xPosed framework and quite a few light modules installed. Im always on the go and im a power user so im always plugging in and out my charger. **
OK , my advice is to take the device to a repair center , but if you are a DIY guy , you can try to open the back of the phone and adjust the charging port. My experience (not with the idol 3) tells me , that the port just got loose from the board . you can try to weld it.
Regards. Best of luck.

I have a Samsung i727R. I’ve had the phone for about a month. Have not used it a lot, no rooting, just ‘normal’ usage. I have not downloaded anything interesting at all.
The problem started a couple weeks ago. It started when I plugged the phone in to charge and nothing happened. I could still turn the phone on and everything worked fine, but it just would not charge. This makes me believe it is not the battery.
So I bought a new OEM cable. It still would not charge (not into the wall or computer. BTW my computer has never recognized that my phone was plugged into it since I’ve had, which I assume is an unrelated issue). But I decided to leave it plugged in longer, and after about an hour, it started doing a short vibration every few seconds, and every few minutes it would just turn on and stay on until I turned it off. Still does not charge. This makes me believe it is not the cable.
I have read about the sticky power button. The power button seems to be working fine (it feels fine / not sticky), and I can turn it on and off without a problem, and operates normally. It just starts on its own as well when plugged in.
Could it be the charging port? I’m unsure because the vibration only happens when I plug it in, so the phone is recognizing that it is plugged in; it’s just not charging.
If not the charging port, what else could it be?
any takers? if you know the answer is posted elsewhere, please direct me where to go. I don't think its the sticky button problem, so not sure what next.
ok, I've had no responses from other members, so I dismantled and checked out the power button, as my problem has some symptoms of the power button problem. but after cleaning, pushing, reassembling, there is no change from the situation I described above.
there is one bit of new info: I left the phone plugged in (it turned on after about 4 vibrations, as usual), but while it is on and plugged in, every minute or so the message indicates it is charging! this lasts for about 5 seconds, and then it proceeds to tell me to plug it in again.
really sounds like it would be a poor connection (replace the charging port?), but seems odd that the pattern of events would be so consistent. if the phone had a poor connection, I would think it would work well for a bit, and then not work at all for a bit, etc.
please help!

u answered ur own question, bad connection, its either the cord or charging port or batterycontacts or even a bad battery but more likely a connection prob
S2 SKyrocket wont start up!
k, so here is the scenario. I have rooted and have jelly bean running since the official update came out from at&T. It has been working fine. No issues just some bug with the camera and the pictures that I managed to deal with. 2 Days ago my phone after battery reached 1% went dead. It has happened before, I just plug it in and charge, everything works smooth. Until, the phone never charged and when I attempted to turn on it just vibrates once , Samsung logo quickly comes up and disappears.
I know its not a sticky Power button issue as the phone does not start up when I insert the battery. I attempted to go into recovery mode but nothing happens.
Don't think the phone is bricked since it shows some kind of life. Not sure if I should buy another battery or charge the battery on another device...While I try to troubleshoot this. Does anyone have any suggestions, and IF i have missed a sticky please direct me to it, since their is so much content here.
Thank you in advance!
Hi All, my wifes s6 (using xtrestolite rom) has stopped taking a charge. Im trying to figure out what the issue is. Unfortunately im travelling for the next month so have limited trouble shooting options.
Background
- wife has been complaining that her phone battery dies quickly. I kind of dimissed her assuming it was in her head. she said it loses 10percent in standby mode in 1hr roughly. Shes been complaining about this for a week.
- yesterday at the airport her battery was at 12% and when we plugged it in to charge it wouldnt take a charge. Bolt icon did not come up and still said "connect charger" on the screen. Normally when connected the red Led comes on, but now it doesnt.
-our normal chsrging method is using and aukey 3port charger as fast charging mode.
Troubleshooting/diagnosis
- i have an s6 as well so i tested all the cables and chargers on my phone and it works. We even had the official samsung charger and cable but same issue.
- after the phone was completely dead, if you plug in the charging cable the charging bolt icon comes on for a few sec, the top left says "kernel is on seandroid enforcing" for a sec and then everything goes blank. Red charging led doesnt come on. So it seems like it detects the cable but wont charge enough to boot up.
- i was able to boot into twrp recovery but where its supposed to have a battery level its completely blank. Originally i was able to do this without any canles but then it wouldnt. My guess is that i orginally had a bit of juice and then it was completely dead.
-after leaving it plugged in for a sec, im able to turn it on where it boots and i can see it says 0% battery. It stays on for 5sec before turning off itself.
- i also tried plugging it into laptop, but laptop does not detect it. The phone does detect the power though and does the same as above but this time bolt charging icon stayes on for 1-2min before going off and seeing the "kernel is on seandroid icon". Once the seanadroid goes away nothing seems to happen. After doing this i was able to turn it on and it showed 1%. I thought this was promising but after trying this a few times ive never been able to get to 1percent again.
- with the brief charge thst i guess its getting, i was able to go i to twrp recovery and do a factory reset. This was with cable plugged in the whole time. Without cable in i dont think it would complete the action.
That about summarizes whats happened.
Ive concluded the following:
- charger and cables are ok and not the issue
- it is not the charging port since the phone does seem to be getting some juice bacause charging icon comes on for 2sec whenever cable is plugged in.
- its not a software/app issue since it wont charge even in recovery mode. Also factory reset was done and no luck.
My best guess is that the battery can only hold a 0-1% charge which is enough to register it being plugged in but not enough to do anything else. But if everything else is ok shouldnt it work when if the cable is just left in. This makes me think theres something else going on.
Any suggestions or theories would be much appreciated trying to decide if i should pay to get battery replaced.
Sorry for the long post. Figured it is best to give all info.
Thanks in advance!
Update June 3:
Hey everyone, just a correction on the above. It looks like it is able to charge in recovery (slowly). I realized that although there is no battery level during recovery, no charging led, and not booting up after being charged for a bit, maybe its just going slowly.
So i went into recovery and left it overnight on the non-fast charging and woke up after 8hrs and it was at 78percent!!!
Im not sure why it didnt go to 100% in 8hrs.
The phone still doesnt charge regularly when plugged in, so still need to fix that.
Do you guys think its a rom issue (only factory reset done before) ? I will see if i can get a rom for flashing.
Update 2:
Reflashed xtrestolite rom but still no luck. It wont charge.
Seems like a dead battery.
Sent from my SM-G920F using XDA-Developers mobile app
Battery.

Bump.
Went to the phone store and they said its probably not the battery but the ic chip for charging? This will cost 150, but doesnt include the screen if they break it...
Does this make sense since i can charge in recovery.
Thanks. Any direction or input is much appreciated.
Go on the local store and change your battery (if isn't in warranty)
Hi all, just wanted to update the post that the issue is semi-fixed.
I brought it into a repair shop who offered to diagnose the problem for free before paying to replace the battery.
He told me there was nothing wrong with it and not sure what my issue was. Plugs in the charger and lo and behold it was charging. He said he didnt do anytning to it except blow some compressed air on the port.
Im guessing the comporessed air cleaned out a short? So now it charges properly.
The issue remaining is that the pc doesnt detect the phone. It shows as charging on the phone but no conmection. Tried to install the latest samung driver (1.5.4xxx?) but no luck. On occation sometimes it says "usb port has malfunctioned" but other times nothing.
My s6 does actually connect, so definitely my wife's s6 itself and not comp. Im tempted to buy some comlressed air and give it ankther blow, but dont want to risk messing it up again. im pretty happy that it at least charges up.
Hope this helps others that might have similar issue.
I dropped my phone in the toilet by accident, I quickly removed it from the water and tried to dry as much as I could.
The only sign of life my phone shows is the blinking led every 3 seconds when i plug it into the wall charger, the PC does not recognize the device.
As you can imagine my phone has been "dead" since that day. Yesterday i tried to bring it back to live following a youtube tutorial.
This is what i did:
- Removed the back cover.
- Disconnected the battery form the main board.
- Plugged the wall charger.
At this point the screen turned on! D) showing the charging screen without any percentage just the normal "thunder" icon.
- Plugged the battery to the main board.
At this point the phone went back to its "normal" status, just showing the led blinking.
I dont know what else to do since Im not a too technical person, im wondering if any of have had the same issue or if changing the battery the phone will be working again. Since the phone is showing this screen im certain its not completely fried.
Thanks for any advise.
Welcome, i've readed alot of topics on the internet about problems similar to this, but nothing fixed my problem. I've tried connecting to wall/pc charger, power button + volume down/up combinations, really all the thing.
Couple days ago after my phone fully discharged ( I rarely had situation like this, I usually charge when my phone have 10-15%, but this day I couldn't. ) I came back home and tried to charge my phone, red light was ON but it still didn't charge after alot of hours. I then tried to fix it, turning on phone etc. but screen was always black and phone didn't want to charge. At first when I tried to boot the Z3 red light was blinking, but after some time it stopped. I ordered new battery, replaced it carefully (though it's battery problem) - then when I connected the new battery for the first time I though I have fixed the problem, battery charging icon showed up for a moment on screen, I was very happy. Then I disconnected charger so I could assemble my phone. Now when I try to charge my phone problem is this same.. like with old battery - Just red light, not turning ON, not blinking. Powering up Key combinations with volume don't fix it. My PC Companion don't see phone. I disassembled my phone again, disconnected battery and connected it - It didn't showed any battery icon again, so why it did when I connected it for the first time? and why when my phone died for the first time red light was blinking, now it doesn't? I want to add that I never dropped my phone or used it in water - never, thats why I was almost sure maybe just battery died after it discharged.
Btw. Important thing is that USB port isn't broken, red light is always ON when I plug USB charger, but when I try to use my magnetic charger, phone never respond - no light. I also tried different cables, chargers etc. Could it really be something with the mainboard?
What could've happen? Why my phone went dead after fully discharged it ? Why battery replacement doesn't fix the problem? I don't get it, is mainboard damaged or something? Can I still try something? Maybe anyone can help me.
Please :/ I cannot afford a new phone right now, really want to try fix it, maybe somehow connecting USB cable straight without usb port can fix it? I heared people do something like this.
So i recently picked up an XT1254 for a great deal. The phone is pristine, not a scratch on it. It looks brand new. It is totally unresponsive. If I plug it in the light on my charger turns from blue to green, telling me it's fast charging. But nothing from the phones LED. Also if I place it on a charging pad, color changes as well. I tried both options over night and still nothing. The phone does get warm (usual amount), leading me to believe it is charging the battery.
Holding the power button - nothing (no vibration, no moto logo, no LED responce)
Holding power + vol down - nothing ( = )
USB to PC - phone is not detected at all (I have ADB and current moto drivers installed)
I opened it up, and everything seems to be in order. No loose connections, no water damage. I checked the battery, and it reads roughly 2.5 volts across each pair of pins. Should it be reading 3.7-4 volts across each pair?
I unfortunately don't have another phone to check the MB, battery and LCD against.
I don't have a SIM installed in it, but I doubt it makes a difference?
Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks-

Quite low for li-ion/-poly, I don't think it ever sees 3v or under in normal circumstances. It might be well into "damaging the battery" territory at this point, and it should certainly be higher after charging it for a while...might be a goner.
Have you tried removing the battery completely and running it off the USB cord? I would expect it to, if nothing else, bring the screen up complaining of a bad/missing battery. That said, I've never tried unplugging mine to see what happens, so no real idea.
I would suggest trying to fabricate a factory cable (which would provide power directly, ignoring battery status), but I don't know if post-OMAP Motorolas are physically configured to use them. If they aren't, it'll do nothing at best and burn up traces at worst : \
Also, holding Vol - while plugging it in should bring the boot menu up, regardless of available battery charge (therefore serving as a quick test to see if the power button is the problem). But that might go out the window as well if the battery is deader than a doornail.

It doesn't. When I fresh-install a ROM, I remove my SIM card to make sure none of my data gets used before I can turn various unwanted syncs/auto-updates off. The phone doesn't care at all, and nowadays Google isn't too whiny about a missing SIM either.
Hello guys.
Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I have similar problem with my Droid Turbo. During the replacement of the battery and speaker, I noticed oxidized resistors near the proximity sensor (which wasn't working since the purchase of the phone second-hand). I have cleaned the oxidized residue with ethanol and assembled the phone. After pressing the power button, the touch buttons light up and phone was vibrating every 20s but the screen was blank. So I disassembled it again to check all the connections but everything was fine. Since then, the phone won't even vibrate, just heats up a lot after holding power button. I have tried both batteries, speakers and also powering the phone without battery (only power cord connected). Both batteries are shoving around 3.8V.
Do you please have any suggestions how to fix the phone? Or should I assume that the motherboard died?
Thanks
