I am not able to understand these white/blue spots across the images. Please see the attached images and zoom in to look in the highlighted areas. It's not dust for sure as I have cleaned the lens and the photos were shot in auto mode (no change in ISO etc). IS there an issue with Nougat beta camera or is my sensor damaged?:crying:
What variant you have (L09 or L04) and which firmware you're running (B1..)?!
I am sorry for hijacking this forum, but I have an Honor V8 variant (the big sized version) with EMUI 5.0. beta. There is no xda forum on this model, hence I posted here. I am not sure if the s/w is the issue as I tried it with other camera apps as well producing the same issue
try a 3rd party camera to see if it is still there, if so try reflash stock rom.
If 3rd party apps don't work, then look if there's an update for your phone
I am on latest nougat beta (b355) for V8. I dont think its a camera issue as other camera apps give the same result. Before I reflash the stock rom, I need to know if this could be a hardware/sensor issue?

yes it is probably a hardware issue, but you will have to flash stock to completely rule out a software issue. back up data using twrp

Its a 50 50 situation, some early buyers of honor 8 had the same issue, but after an OTA it's gone.
If it's a hardware issue, return it back if you have warranty.
A friend of mine had the same issue but it was fixed after the update.

Do you mean those spots on zooming in? I have been through 2 beta-Nougat updates, but its not yet resolved. I will factory reset over this weekend and check.

Did you experience this problem when you were using the original version of android that came preinstalled on your device? If you did then it's probably a hardware problem. Which can only be fixed by the manufacturer.
Ok, before I factory reset, I just realized that RAW format is completely fine. However the same jpegs are showing these dead pixels (or bright spots). Is this something s/w related or hardware? Are the raw images processed by s/w or sensor & s/w?

It's a software issue, don't worry.
If RAW images are fines, then it's just a problem of processing when taking a JPEG photo
An update should fix this

Some images rendered perfect while images taken in bright light show these spots/pixels. I did check my initial pics and most of them turn out to be fine. Also, as I mentioned in my later post, the Raw formats are good, but their jpegs are with these spots.
@CronaMell, thanks. I will still reset and update here. It will be an expensive affair to send this device back to China from India. It's better I sell it off here.

It's better for you, and when you buy a device make sure it's officially supported in your country (like honor 8) .
All the best

I'd contact Honor directly and ask them about the problem. Maybe they will release a software patch for it. But I have never heard the Honor 8 had this problem.
I just did a factory reset. The issue persists. Is there a way I could downgrade to EMUI 4.1 rom? I am on Nougat beta and that could be still an issue which I need to exclude. Factory reset keeps the same version of the ROM, I need to downgrade to EMUI 4.1 (Marshmallow) and check.
Also, I suspect the raw images are not processed correctly. Is there a way to change any library associated with image processing? I am able to process raw files on my computer without any issues. I am not rooted, but willing to take that step if it solves this issue.

Unfortunately, we don't know the exact files (libs that are responsible for image processing)

You would have to contact Honor directly for instructions on how to restore Marshmallow back onto your device. They will also be able to provide you with a link to the Marshmallow firmware for your device.

After about 5-7 seconds of recording in 720p I was getting recording failed problems every time. It wasn't doing that before or at least not very often until recently. So I decided to update the camera firmware. I go to the camera firmware update screen by dialing *#*#34971539#*#* I selected phone to CAM FW Write and I go to update the firmware to version 2.0.3 it downloads up to 225/253 pieces then stops and says the update is a success, then it tells me to reboot. I reboot the phone with the volume down and power button, and I find out the camera firmware isn't installed properly. Now under camera info it is displaying.

I don't remember exactly what it said before but I know it said something different. The rear facing camera is now messed up and displaying green. This is happening with all the different camera apps that I tried on the market. I also did a factory reset, cleared the cache and wiped the data. Still I'm getting the same problem. The camera info is displaying the same thing to so I know for a fact that the factory reset didn't reset everything. Maybe someone here who has the same phone can help me out by dialing *#*#34971539#*#* and going to "Phone/CAM FW Ver Check." Tell me what it says if you don't know how to directly fix the problem. If someone here does know how to fix the problem it would be helpful though. I'm rooted and I'm currently running stock Froyo 2.2.1 if that helps.
Once I figured out how to root and flash with the Infuse, I didn't waste much time at all staying on Froyo. However, I've had video recording issues that ended up being caused by the kernel. I suppose it's possible that it could be an issue with the Froyo Community Kernel (I'm guessing/assuming that's how you rooted). Any particular reason you'd not want to just back up your apps and upgrade to Gingerbread?

I hate to keep harping on the same thing, but I'm not so sure it's a camera firmware issue, and you may be making a mountain out of a mole hill. If you happened to upgrade with Heimdall, and you're not already running one of them, it may be worth trying one of the kernels in this post, for ****s and giggles:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23118144&postcount=2
I've never had any issue with the camera, aside from what was caused by a kernel, so aside from that advice, I've nothing else to offer. Good luck.
Hello,
I am contacting you because I am experiencing an issue with my screen as there are now plenty of small white pixels appearing on my screen. I guess this is not material related as TWRP recovery is spotless for example. The dots are appearing at the android boot animation.
Also I have noticed that the spots only appear on certain coloured areas. If you look at the second image attached you will see that the dots only appear on blue and red areas of all the google apps logo not in the yellow or green parts. Also the KK red screen attached does not display any mark at all
As the issue has appeared on PA rom but remains on Mahdi or even on sotck (using both Nexus toolkit and fastboot methods for 4.4.4 and 4.4 factory roms), I start thinking that it might not be rom related.
Therefore I was wondering wether someone might have experienced the same issue and know how to solve this. If not, do you have any idea for me ?
Thanks in advance.
Augustin
PS: enclosed is a screenshot of my latest configuration
PS': should I try full wipe as I only do factory one when flashing ne roms ?

That's sad. Might be a display/digitizer issue while display certain RGB colors. Try changing kernels which supports display calibration and see if anything changes?
Let's hope someone else finds a solution!
Well, it's not the display if it's appearing in screenshots. And if you've flashed the factory image I would say it's not software either. The only thing I can think of would be an issue with the framebuffer. If you bought the phone from Google I would call them about the issue and hope they will replace the phone.
did you check md5 hash before flashing firmware?

@raptir: Do you think that the fact that I do not have the issue when on bootloader or recovery but only when boot animation is starting can be explained by framebuffer ? I guess I would also ask merchant website to change the phone as I bought it about 2 weeks ago.
@koszor: I have not checked the md5 of the firmware I downloaded. As I have tried with 3 different roms, do you think it can be related to stock framework integrity ?
Cheers.

Well, the fact that it happens across different ROMs makes it seem like it's not software, so it has to be something in hardware. The fact that it doesn't occur in recovery makes it seem like it's not hardware... but I think it could be explained by recoveries using mostly dark backgrounds. You've only seen it on blue and red pixels, right?
I would definitely try downloading the factory image and checking the MD5 first though... can't hurt.
After running a screen test it becomes obvious that the issue is color related. Indeed, the dots appear continuously for certain colors but not at all for others as you can see in the sample attached.
As I am color blind I will not be able to list all the colours but it appears that prime colors and white are ok but other colors and especially black are affected by the dots. Therefore recovery or bootloader should be more affected as dark background. However this is not the case.
Does it bring any idea in how to fix color display ?
Nexus toolkit runs an hashcheck before flashing factory rom so I should be ok on this side I guess.
Thanks
Augustin
A md5 mismatch couldn't have caused this. If you're using latest recoveries then it already has a md5 checker which aborts the installation if there's a mismatch. As I said earlier, it looks like a display problem with particular rgb colors. This is the first time I've seen such an issue on the nexus 5 forums.
Since it's just few weeks old, I hope you do get a replacement. :fingers-crossed:

For the sake of it I have completed a thorough reinstall of android 4.4.4 doing a full wipe (data, system, dalvik, cache), checking the md5 and following the method described here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/tutorial-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2513701) but it had no effect at all.
I start thinking that the issue might material in the end and that my best shot is trying to get it replaced.
If somebody has another idea, I am willing to try it.
Cheers

Are you perhaps using the same computer or internet connection (or even browser) to download the firmwares? If one was corrupt while downloading on the same computer I could easily see all of them being corrupt.
I think its an unlikely event but something to consider

OK. Sure.
But it will take time.
I'm not a professional shooter, so basically I probably won't notice the differences too fast.
One thing I have observed is that the portrait selfie mode was improved, it's more natural.
Others I will test.
But again: with HuRupdater you can update easely.
(downloading 3 of 4 files from update packages: the choice is between clt-l09 and clt-l29, after that renaming and flash via twrp. See corresponding thread)
Interesting.. so it seems indeed that many of the under the hood changes are not always mentioned in the change log.
Yeah please keep us posted on the camera improvements and performance and power consumption.

How about the front-camera, can you turn off beauty mode? i set it to 0 but still on almost the same.
I've just tried to update using the HuRUpdater method but wasn't able to boot afterwards. Tried flashing twice but it just wouldn't boot to system. I've restored the TWRP backup I made before flashing and got back into system, now settings says I'm on .131 but I can't be if I just restored a .128 backup, right?
What's everyone's update method? Did you place custom recovery in the folder too or flash without? Wipe cache/dalvik after? Boot to system first before flashing Magisk or just flash directly after HuRUpdater script?
Want to try again but just wanted to check if I've missed something? Thanks!

The cn firmware was updated too to version B123.
Remember, they have different numbers. Ex. Their B123 version is newer than our B131.
Look at production numbers in Fw.
After OnePlus 7 Pro release, I had installed the stock camera from APK Mirror. Later upon experimenting with it found that under pro mode even with 5 seconds shutter speed I was unable to capture Long exposure photos like I used to. Reverted to Stock 3.0.16 it works, on v3.2.99 its just saves the first frame. Is anyone else having the same issue. I had cleared cache and storage post installation of the new camera and still get the same results.
Try the new 3.3.8, and if it doesn't work then go back to 3.0.16, cuz i think those apk arent really made for the op6 or maybe it'a a firmware problem that needs to be updated( each apk comes with a specific firmware in the update i guess and sometimes there is no need for a new firmware update )

Hello,
I got a big issue on my Mi 10 Ultra, the stock camera is not wanting to work anymore.
It's black only and then refuses to launch (see screenshot attached).
I've tried third party apps but quality is not as good and I can't use all the camera modules. I've bought the 10 Ultra for it's cameras and really want to keep using it. (I do a lot of macrophotography and the 10 Ultra is amazing for this but only on the wide angle module.)
Did someone encountered the same issue ?
I've tried installing GCam but I do not managed to install apks. Theres an issue during the package analysis... (I've tried all GCam apks I could find here.)
I'm on stock EU OS with TWRP and I just activated root to try to solve the issue.
Sorry for bad english and french screenshots
EDIT: Every camera is working in the CIT hardware tests, I think it's software but I resetted the phone and nothing changed.

Now in the tests, my 5x telephoto camera does not respond, so I think it's an hardware issue, but I don't think the camera is broken so I'd like to found people with the same experience.
I don't think changing the recovery will solve the problem.

Flash this rom to be sure
Mi 10 Ultra ChinaStableFastbootV13.0.4.0.SJJCNXM
Just to be sure of something, I did a test. Thanks for answering all my messages but what I need and want now is info or a way to debunk the issue.
I wont flash a ROM in a language I don't understand on the phone I use every day just to test something.
I already tried resetting the phone (including dalvik cache iirc) and it did not change anything.
Plus I would need a PC and a flashing tool, this would take a lot of time...
Finally, the issue did not came with a ROM change, the actual ROM is stable.
Edit : I changed the camera module, everything works perfectly
According to my repair shop, Xiaomis are just unreliable.
