[Q] Samsung G-Note Horizontal Lines Only On Lock Screen With Black & White Wallpaper
Hi,
I am getting horizontal Lines on the lock screen [only] with white and black wallpapers.....
I have tried other wallpapers and the problem doesnt seem to persist with them .... neither does it occur with live wallpapers.
Those same wallpapers look fine in the gallery and even when i set it as the home screen wallpaper, there are no other pertaining issue other then that on my phone.
Is this a software or hardware issue....
And is there any way around this problem to solve it ... or do i have to taken my phone to the service center.
if its under warranty I'd just take it back and get a new one
Hey, thanks for the reply...
the problem is i dont get that issue with any other wallpaper just the extreme black and white ones .......
and i dont face any other problems any where else in the phone, its just the lock screen....
moreover the lock screen seems to re-scale the image before applying it as a lock screen wallpaper...
thats why i was wondering if its a software bug or something which can be resolved with an ics update... or through some other mean ....
i have never dropped my phone, or sat on it or anything i have been extremely careful with it ....neither have i rooted my phone....
i have seen some other forums on the net regarding the same... apparently there are quite a few people with similar issue.... but no one seems to have a definite answer as to why its happening.....
If it was me, I would just return it and get a new one. You should be able to get one no questions asked if its still under warranty, plus who wouldn't want to get a new note if they could? If it happens on your next note then I'd look further into it, your call though.
I had my pre-owned SAMSUNG Galaxy Note Edge (SM-N915G)
running on Android OS 5.1.1 for almost a year.
The phablet was doing fine all along, until recently...
when the new OTA update Android 6.0.1 was made available
in my region my phablet start to show signs of malfunction
especially to the edge screen.
The edge screen's briefing panel always jam
& unable to load up whenever after a rebooting
of my phablet. The only lame-man method that I know
to solve my problem temporary, is to uncheck the panel...
confirm the setting & go back to re-check the panel...
re-confirm the setting again.
Anyone knows how to fix this problem permanently?
I've even tried full reset via [Vol. Up] + [Home] + [Power],
but it still didn't solve the problem.
Also, the update has been draining the battery like crazy.

I just haven't got time to downgrade the OS that's all
to see if it's the OS fault or not.
But funny... my the other Note Edge didn't have such issue.
I don't need the edge functionality of the phone and would just like to use that portion for whatever is on my screen instead. I experimented with Nova launcher and it removed the edge panel...but only part of it. The edge panel is gone but I still see a thin black bar all the way at the right side of the screen remaining. I want to completely use the entire screen of the phone. So is there a way to remove the black bar and maximize my screen real estate? I feel like maybe a custom rom would do that but I don't wanna go that far unless I know it achieves that.
I kinda had the same problem as you . The edge wasn't very important to me . Flashing a custom rom did help me in achieving that . The first rom I tried was RR by micky I it comes with a omni switch so ya can turn on/off the edge functionality . But if ya prefer to be on MM I would recommend noble rom it comes with an edge panel but is invisible for most of the time ; . I personally use n915f with noble rom and Micky's kernel . Hope this helps

Do you get the ENTIRE screen or is there a remaining thin black bar? Nova Launcher got rid of the edge panel and gave me more screen but I'm still left with a thin black bar on the side so I'm not utilizing my entire screen as I wanted. Can you show me a picture of your phone with either of those roms? I don't want to go through the headache of installing it only to find out its like Nova in the end result of a thin black bar leftover. And will those roms work on an at&t Note edge? Thanks for your response
Due to some unknown reasons am unable to upload a screenshot "network error". Could ya please check noble rom thread ( OP : Albe96) under the development section . He has uploaded some screenshots which will give you a better idea . The title says it works for only Fy&G versions but with the right kernel it worked fine for me on 915f . Am not sure if it works on at&t version of edge . Maybe you can post a question under the rom thread sure somebody will help you
Update : I don't have any black bars.

I meant pictures like an actual pic, not screenshot because I wanted to see if the black bar was visible. But its okay, I appreciate the info you provided. I'll take a look at that now but might not risk it because it doesn't sound like its compatible with the at&t Note Edge.
it would be nice to use the entire screen to display everything

Do you know what the screen size is without the edge panel? Like say I'm using a web browser or some other app and the edge panel is gone now, how big is the display with the edge panel out? 5.4, 5.5 or 5.6 inches? And how big is everything total with the edge panel included?
dont think its possible ,its two separated screens ?
No it's definitely one screen.
I'm in the same situation. Couldn't get the Noble ROM working on my F device unfortunately. I uninstalled the Cocktailbar service to get rid of the edge panel (sped up the device quite a bit BTW). Nova wallpaper covers the entire screen now but the display of the icons gets trimmed off when scrolling.
A Note compatible application will show under an app that gets clipped short and if you window an application, you can drag it to cover the curved portion of the screen so on a system level, it is possible to utilise the entire screen.
There must be a configuration setting somewhere that defines the application rendering area. As a relative Android newbie, does anyone know where such a setting may be found?

Thanks for your response to my post. Even after all this time I'm still trying to get this phone to utilize the entire screen. I'm not sure how you uninstalled Cocktailbar service because I didn't get an option to do so. I have Nova launcher which did get rid of the edge panel but there's still a thin black line on the side of the phone. When the edge panel exists, it utilizes the entire screen but when I remove it by using Nova launcher, I lose the edge panel but I still can't maximize my screen usage because of the thin black bar left on the side. This is so frustrating.
if you dial the service mode , you can test both screen separately , main panel and edge panel , not sure if it one screen at all , thats why note edge is the only curve screen that works ?
I used Uninstall which you can get from the play store. Requires root access, really speeds up the phone when you remove it.
I found a hacky way to get the screen to extend nearly all the way to the edge by dropping the DPI of android system process to 50 and then overriding the DPI of everything else to the normal 640. System notifications are stupidly small and unusable though as well as any edge apps like the camera, see attached. Best option is to bite the bullet and get a Note 4 ROM working I think.
Weird I find the edge screen much more useful without the specialist software. Fast scrolling with a full screen is lovely on the edge bit.
Download and flash a AOSP Rom or Note 4 Rom and then I'd recommend Total Launcher
I'm using MRU Widget as my homescreens softkey row.

Yeah, eventually my tinkering made my phone go bang so I had to reflash. Bit of a pain but can't recommend it high enough. I went for the ROM below, a Note 7 adaption and it's awesome. Have to tinker a bit to get finger prints working but it's straight forward enough.

Hi, I flashed a Note 4 ROM on my Note Edge yesterday, only to find the entire screen worked as a whole! But an issue showed up: https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/help/camera-app-interfaces-malposition-issue-t3960314
My Samsung Galaxy S5 Sprint (carrier unlocked) with Android 6.0.1 has suddenly been acting weird. The screen and graphics are flickering and jumping about the LCD screen. Once it even turned the screen negative with black and orange colors. I manually went to accessibility settings and enabled negative colors so that the screen went to normal.…That is until it again went negative and I had to turn off negative colors afterward. I don't know what is causing this and I want to badly fix it.
Specifications:
Android Version: 6.0.1 from Lollipop
Rooted: Yes (probably since it had SuperSU already installed when I got it)
Now I haven't Factory Reset it yet because I fear that resetting it to factory default while it is rooted might break it. I don't know how to unroot it either. I will be helpful knowing if I can safely reset it with it still rooted.
Edit: I also want to say that whenever I try to share my PC internet connection to the phone, the phone somehow manages to crash my PC every time. I can find no fix for any of these problems. I am so helpless and hopeless…

Sounds like a case of the get a new phone update from ur carrier /s
I know I'm late to the game but did you get like colorful lines like a purple border on the edges of the entire screen and red boxes on the bottom? That happened to me this morning out of nowhere. I restarted and away it went. yes, I'm on latest stock updates and root.
first of all the phone is restarting and freezes a lot , i tried several stock roms but no change , second i made a mistake and didn't take a backup from the original rom , now the *#06# and the *#0*# codes is not working or responding also the battery drains soooooo fast, another issue is when i installed a stock rom when i came to the step when you write your google account , i can't writ any thing even when i skip it and try to writ after i finish the instillation i couldn't also , only when i installed different keyboard it worked and my biggest issue now is there is a shade of a vertical line in the top of the screen it's very light only if you get a white background you will see it also there is a shades of a microphone icon also light not sharp to be seen ,, i'm so annoyed of all this things and don't know what to do , i'm running a s8 rom now it's little better than the stock
