[Completed] Help flashing and rooting my device - XDA Assist

Hi!
I'm using HTC desire 626 with Android kit Kat 4.4.4.
I used kingo root to root my device recently but since it's limitations, I unrooted and uninstalled it and wanted to use superSU and install TWRP.
But before installing superSU binaries, I need to unlock my boot loader. Now here are the problems, I'm facing:-
1. I've enabled developer options and USB Debugging but there is no unlock oem option.
2. Whenever I tried to boot to download/Odin mode using vol.down + power button, it shows no command and goes to recovery mode.
3. If I adb method, when I insert the following command:
Adv reboot download
It just reboots my device.
So with these problems, I can't move forward and need help.
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
Thanks for suggesting these links.
But the problem now is when I tried to obtain the token after the inserting the command, it shows "waiting fo the devices", and stays like that. Anyways, I'm going to try once more and let you know if anything comes up.
One more thing, I've read somewhere that Android 4.4.4 does'nt have the option "oem unlock" in developers option. Is it true??
Thanks again.

Phone wont connect

Hi guys
Desire S.
Unrooted, no custom recovery, basically everything default.
HBoot 2.00.0002
.
To root, i need the 0.98 version.
Using HTCdev.com, i tried to unlock, but at step 5, where i should type fastboot oem get_identifier_token, the phone doesnt come up at all, and cmd just continues to wait for device.
Before you ask, I HAVE (i hope) followed all steps.
This includes updating drivers manually, using htc sync (latest and older versions), swapping usb port and cable, reunzipping adb and fastboot material from other sources, and reading for a decent number of hours throughout xda and other external forums and guides.
But there is still no success.
Anyone help please? I don't just want fast, "get it working for me" type answers, but actually want to know why it refuses to greet me!
Cheers
BTW, i'm on a windows 8.1 laptop, and have updated the relevant drivers, still to no avail.

your phone must be in FASTBOOT bootloader mode..not in the HOME of your ROM..
if you don't wan to turn off your phone first and pressing volume down + power to go to bootloader..then you can using a adb command on cmd while your phone is still in the HOME of your ROM.. type "adb reboot bootloader" then select "FASTBOOT" now you can type "fastboot oem get_identifier_token"
don't forget to disabled Fast boot mode and enable USB Debuging first from the system settings and just connect your phone to pc as charge mode..
hope this help..
Sorry mate. Tried that before your post though.
However the person for whom I was doing this no longer needs it doing, and plans for a newer device, so I no longer have this device available. Thus, i thanked you, since it was a cue for me to mention that.
Cheers.

You have several options:
1. You can use adb from a computer: "adb reboot", "adb reboot-bootloader", "adb reboot recovery"
2. You can use a terminal app ( one is provided in CM based roms in the developer tools/ also available at the play store ) : "reboot", "reboot recovery", "reboot-bootloader"
3. There are apps in the play store that can provide you with a power menu: A quick search makes this one look pretty good:

What is it that you want to be able to do ?
Just be able to restart op power off remotely op you want it rooted?
If it's not finding your device chances are your drivers didn't install fully put your phone into the fastboot and if your on windows look in device manager and it should show up as a exclamation mark that needs drivers.
There is a Cm universal adb driver package that could help you in the tools section.
Hello, I could solve the problem.
@steve.loveday @Meticulus
I had to disassemble the phone, remove the screws and remove the lid, with the motherboard of the phone in sight I had to play with two points the 'contact' power, and after a long time could deny enter bootloader mode, and I could unlock it, install Android 5.1 and root the phone, if I did not before because it was thought impossible, and it is very risky, aS IT MAY BREAK / SCRATCH PLATE BASE, but hey, it worked out well =)
PS: I go back to clarify this because I needed power button is broken and beyond repair, now I have from the app who recommended me normal reset, bootloader, recovery and others.
No more, thank you very much to both of you!
They can close the issue, Greetings from Argentina.

[Completed] Can't unlock bootloader (iOcean X8 Mini)

Hello,
A friend of my asked me to install a new version on his iOcean X8 Mini.
After a few minutes into the process, I discovered that I couldn't modify anything at all.
Problems start occuring when I enter Fastboot via ADB (I power up the phone, connect it to PC, give it permission to use Android USB Debugging, then via 'adb rebeoot fastboot' I enter the Fastboot menu). Every command I enter here returns 3 dots just doing nothing. My command prompt is unusable after entering a command (for example 'fastboot oem unlock').
I've tried to push a ROM via ADB but this isn't working as well since it returns something like 'no permission' when trying to install, but I figured this was due to the locked bootloader.
Searched all over the internet for solutions, but so far nothing has really worked. What I somehow did mange to do is root the device (don't know if it was by default, I assume not), via RootGenius.
Anybody got any experience with this, and perhaps know some steps I can undertake to indeed unlock the bootloader of this phone?
Thanks in advance!

Hello,
So, apparently i messed up. I installed nethunter on my phone, everything was working well, finished the configuration and then i had the idiotic idea to lock the bootloader since it was locked at the beginning when i received the phone, so i locked the bootloader not knowing the consequences of that.
Now i don't have how to go to enter in recovery mode, i can't boot. The program adb and fastboot doesn't detect the phone when i do adb devices or fastboot devices. I don't know how to proceed from here.
Any ideas ?
Kind regards,

Sony Xperia 5 II XQ-AS62 root

Happy new year! I was hoping to bring in the new year with root, but strangely with this version when ever I boot into "bootloader" from the recovery menu, the device screen is blank, and adb does not detect anything.
Would someone be gracious enough to provide a step by step root for this particular US variant? I can send you a gift card if you get me running with just root!
Thank You!
It's a $100 USD Gift card btw. I would send it to you via a direct message, or I can send you some crypto if you provide me your wallet should the root prove successful (for same amount). Thank you and have a happy new year!

On other thread you mentioned that `fastboot devices` gives nothing. I suspect that you are missing drivers for your device so try installing drivers first. Try these: Xperia 5 II driver - Sony Developer World ?
I saw that link before, but my device was not specifically listed. I'll try it anyway and hope that it works.
I boot into the "Fastbootd" menu on the phone, and then plug the device into my machine. when I run the "fastboot device" command I get:
fastboot: usage: unknown command device
When I then try the second method of connecting to fastboot (by holding down the volume up button while at the same time plugging the device in as per the instructions here: https://developer.sony.com/develop/...der/how-to-unlock-bootloader/#tutorial-step-2), the phone screen is blank.
I then try running the command "fastboot device" and I just get a "waiting for any device". Thanks for taking a look and let me know what else needs to be done!
Also I tried installing the drivers, and that did not work either. I still get the error "fastboot: usage: unknown command device"

Did you follow: Install OEM USB drivers | Android Developers ?
If so Can you see if device is detected properly in Device Manager?

I see the issue now, I've been typing "Fastboot device" instead of "fastboot devices". I managed to successfully unlock the bootloader! Now how do I go about achieving root access?
btw the screen is still blank when I plug in the phone via the "Volume Up + USB connect" way of getting access to fastboot, if that makes a difference.
Also as A WARNING for anyone following this thread, unlocking the bootloader immediately initiates a wipe of the device. I had no problem with that since this is a brand new phone that I just got and am trying to unlock. Also, I am on:
Android 10
Build #: 58.0.A.22.21

Follow this guide to get root access: [GUIDE][WIN10] Bootloader Unlock/Re-Lock, Rooting with Magisk and flashing Firmwares | XDA Developers Forums (xda-developers.com)
As you have unlocked bootloader I believe you only need steps 25-27 to get root access.
Note: Read thread completely so that you can take backup if needed and also make sure you install all required things.

Thanks! But I just wanted to help you out. I won't be taking any gift cards in return!
If you want you can donate it to some of these developers so that they can work on supporting more!
Cheers and Happy New Year!
It Worked! I appreciate your help, but I mostly just followed the link you provided from
Miustone. Thank you to him and you both! That Thread should definitely be pinned in the
"Sony Xperia 5 II ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Othe" section too!
Ill donate to Miustone, and have a happy new year!
EDIT: Darn looks like Miustone only takes paypal, which I don't have (I have crypto). Thanks again for the help everyone!
Quick Question, how do you tell which region firmware is on your phone?
Do *#*#7378423#*#* go to Service Info >> Software Info and you will get Firmware details

No because you can't
I also have Sony Xperia 5 II XQ-AS62 and I've found myself in a similar situation as burnsmotorcycle but I think it's because I have TWRP installed. More specifically, I see my device when I run "adb devices", I get nothing when I run "fastboot devices", and I get TWRP when I run "adb reboot recovery".
Does anyone know how I can uninstall TWRP? Please note, my device still has the bootloader unlocked, fastboot commands are unresponsive now that TWRP is present, and ADB and Magisk seems to be the only tools available to me right now.
