Horrible battery life? - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

Greetings,
I am using the european Mate 9.
I have rooted it and restored my apps via Titanium backup and installed my exchange account (15 mins sync).
But my mate 9 gets empty in about 6 hours (!) with moderate use. It says exchange is the culprit but I cant imagine why?
Anyone knows why?
Thanks for the help
Robin

I guess you're the exception. BTW, Exchange is the first app I either delete or disable.
I'm a moderate to heavy user, depending on the day but I never go to bed with less than 40 and mostly 50% or more.
Than again, I have disabled any unnecessary app possible, currently 9 of them.

If Exchange is hitting your battery, take it out. Plenty of other apps to do the job.
I've never known a phone to last as long on a charge as the Mate.

[Q] Better battery after root?

I am just wondering if people are experiencing better battery life after rooting?
I am really stressing over the battery. Today, with just some phone calls and using the browser maybe once, total 9 hours, I have 66% battery. Is that bad or am I just overreacting. So little usage but down to 66% seems bad to me. I am coming from a blackberry, it easily made it through the day, even though it was really old. Am I just expecting too much from smart phone like this (with the touch screen and all the apps and features)?
I have the brightness way down, syncing turned off for most apps and on others syncs less often. Etc...
thats actually pretty dam good after 9 hours...
LMAO mine died from a full charge in 8 hours yesterday.

That's it?!?!
Well, I guess I just have to get used to it. I just hadn't used it much at all to get to the 66%.

That's IT. usually i have it plugged in at my other job but i was snow plowing. lucky it was a light storm or i would have been out longer and in some serious trouble. I also called AT&T (im an employee as well lol) and i complained about the captivate (i purchased two of them, gps and battery issues) and the battery life on the HTC and they wouldnt even waive the upgrade fee ($18...not to mention my early upgrade fee of $200) and couldnt notate the account saying that they would waive the $35 restocking fee. Thats BS because we do it for customers all day long at my store. Sorry to thread jack. lmao

I believe the browser time listed there is cpu time, which doesn't necessarily correlate to how long you were using the browser. What was your display on time? If I stay connected to wifi most of the time I can get 3-4 hours of display on time (and about 16 hours total), which is pretty good for a phone with a 4.3 inch screen. It's better than the Captivate got running custom ROMs.
Don't be mistaken, this is no iPhone 4, BlackBerry, or dumbphone. You can't realistically expect to get more than a day of battery life with a modern, powerful, Android smartphone with a large display (although I did get almost 40 hours with very light use). I suggest getting a dock that you can rest it in while at work and a car charger as well. It's not a big deal and well worth the functions this phone provides imho.
Im fully rooted and the battery is better after the root. instead of getting 8 hours out of it I now get atleast 10 depending on how often I am using it. I am a moderate to heavy user.
When I was stock before root, I'd normally have 60-70% battery in the evening. I unplug my phone around 7:30am and around 6-7pm is when it's at 60-70%. I play some word games through the day, browse very little, make a call or two, or just randomly go through my phone. I have my brightness set at 30% and I have a toggle to go to 20% if my battery gets low.
Right now I'm rooted with the RevHD .15 rom OCed at 1.228ghz. I seem to get around the same battery life. I haven't gone through a whole day after root without plugging in because I've been flashing though.
I'm amazed at some people saying they use the phone heavily and only use 30-40% of the battery after 12 hours. I hardly use the phone, am on WiFi all day, and after 12 hours I've used 80% of my battery.
1 widget running, 2 email accounts checking every 15 min, Facebook and weather every hour, HTC Sync is set to push. I even set HTC Sync to 1 hour and not much has changed.

That is a BIG reason why. I removed the account and it made a world of difference. Even set to once a day, it still ate the battery.

Battery life
I rooted mine and am running Core Droid and I was coming home from work after 8 hours and have 15% to 30% battery left. After root and custom Rom and screen set to 30% brightness which is still bright I am off the charger for 12.5 hours now with moderate use and have 29% battery left. Thats with htc sense set to push. I removed it and will test this out tomorrow.

Those two email accounts checking every 15 min and Facebook every hour are killing you. If you set those email accounts to forward to a gmail account so emails are pushed to your phone it will save a lot of battery. As for Facebook... do you really need to know what 500 people are doing every hour?
I would just do manual Facebook refresh when I go into the app. There is no need to have that updated all day every day.
What is the battery life on standby with basically all radios and wireless turned off (3g,bluetooth,wifi,etc.) except for 2g for voice calls? Basically, how long can it last as a very basic dumbphone?
If u turn off 3G network and use 2G, u get more battery life.
I have Nexus one with me under ATT 3G, and the battery life only holds for 20 hours, ( hardly making any calls, internet ect. just standby). However, when I was in China for summer, the battery life was about 3days under EDGE network, so I guess 3G network and SYNC can make ur standby hours shorter.
My battery is much better now. I downloaded juice defender and I think it actually helped.

Love my G2x, But the battery is worst ever.

Have had my rooted stock rom g2x since day 1.
Love phone. I am comming from H2 customed. I thought it had worst battery I have ever had.
That was till the g2x. I hate running a task killer. But am about to do just that to see if I can get anymore battery,.
Its to the point where I fully charge phone and yesterday with only 12 minutes of talk. Maybe 20 minutes of Web use and some emails. Battery was yellow.
This is a joke right? My only thought is that by having my Gmail auto refresh every 10 minutes possibly that could be some cause. But I if not in my car to keep on charger phone last barely a day.
Sounds like you have a bad battery, I get great battery life with the phone
G2X & Nexus S
I get 13hrs on this battety with wifi on all day.

do u really think that is the standard performance of the G2x battery or is it more likely you got a bad unit ? Come on now people, stop posting this crap and just exchange your phone when you only get an hour of battery life. Why start a freaking thread ? You could have used that time to go exchange your phone.

Totally true.
For those of you with problems, your phone is still new, it will be replaced either under buyer's remorse (15-20 days) or directly through tmobile after that period.
Just get a new phone and be done with it.
My first hot potato of a phone would get good battery life, until it cooked itself alive. My second phone was on for over 27 hours and was still at 50%. I'm still surprised.
First off guys. I am not a newbie to XDA or phones. No its not a bad battery.
Remember I am the Costco Manager so I can exchange phone as much as I want for 90 days.
This is my third as I wanted a perfect screen.
I have had this problem with all 3. So the battery is fine.
I use batt apk and I show about 5%loss per half hour after taking off charge
There is no way this is normal. Now I do have lots of apps. But I have froze some in Titanium. However I can blow out this charge in an hour with web use.]
No I did not calibrate. Did not read that till after. However I did charge initially correct.
My HD2 would gobble batterys. But this phone while I love it. Is not a great everyday use phone if not able to be on a charger during day.

Huh.. some people are getting awesome battery time. When it first came out, people were having success with doing factory reset on their phone. Idk.. I personally didn't buy it.. but they swore it worked. Give it a try.

So what you're saying then, is those of us with good battery life are the ones with the bad batteries? You really didn't think this through, did you?
I find my battery life was OK on the stock ROM. Nothing I'd get excited about, but I'd gotten used to insanely poor battery life running CM7 on my vibrant. Since I flashed the GB leak (no wipe, fixed permissions, erased battery stats) I'm seeing 18+ hrs with moderate usage.
gingerbread in general gets good battery life, cm7 for galaxy has problems due to samsung not following the google standards, those guys are basically shooting in the dark with that project, yet they have made huge improvments. recently people report decent to improved battery life on the latest builds.
to the op, what are your sync options? i find facebook sync and facebook contact sync are big culprits. also i only use google contact sync to get my contact list initially then turn it off. also if you have your gmail on the stock email app and the gmail app it can increase useage, if you prefer the email app id turn off google sync all together, if you like the gmail app id turn off fetch on the email app.
another culprit is weather apps using the location service, for me beautiful widgets is a battery hog on a vibrant rom but not on a captivate rom so results can vary from phone to phone.
and last of all i dont agree with calibration proceedures, i get some funky results with them, i just delete batstats and then charge to full. i find it takes 3 day minimum to get a good calibration, 5 days is sometimes needed.
I get very good battery life with mine and have been since day one. It lasts almost twice as long as my Vibrant and N1 did.

I use juice defender to turn on/off my data for me when its not being used and the screen is off. It seems to work less than on vibrant.
I'm running stock rom and my battery life varies TREMENDOUSLY from when I'm at work and seldomly using it to when I'm home surfing the web on it ( tablets too far from couch I'm surprised I got the cookies )
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
I was getting really bad battery life when I first got the phone (about 7hrs ) I ended up finding out that the touch led notification app was the culprit so I deleted it and also calibrated my battery and now my phone last all day easily and that with me playing guerrilla bob and the samurai game at work for like 2 hours lol
I recommend you download the where's my Droid power app from the market and see what's killing your battery
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
Also keep in mind that it could be a certain app draining your battery. I downloaded the NFL apparently for draft day and even after exiting the app it took my battery down 15% in a matter of 10 minutes. Not to mention it had my battery's and CPU running super hot. On average I get about 12 hours out of a full charge with moderate to heavy usage.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
My last charge i got 36 hours of light use so I dont know what everyone's problem is lol

No wonder your a newbie and no listed thanks. What an asswade comment.
NO!!!!!!!!! What I am saying is that is has to be an internal issue with either synch times or possibly an APP be it internal or external that is causing MANY of us to have terrible battery times vs. others with good. Not saying anthing negative about those who are functioning ok.
I have been rooting and modding for 2 years. This is the worst battery usage yet. My Galaxy S 4g. Could last with same synch times and apps for 18 hours.
Now for those others who have there head inserted other then in there behind.
Okay ran some tests today,
1. Charged phone to 100percent.
2. Left everything the way it has been and no adjustments.
Battery at 84 Percent sitting tableside no text, app, wed or voice use after 2 hours. After 4 hours at 64 percent. After 6 hours at 51 percent. After 8 hours at 39 percent. This is with no usage. This is terrible.
Okay, Now have done following based on others test here and other forums.
1. Loaded Setcpu and made profile for sleep using stock 216 usage.
2. reluctently loaded Taskmanager Pro and killed all but needed apps.
3. Loaded Battery calibration app and after charge calibrated phone.
Left my email synch at every 10 minute as its needed for work.
We will see if this brings better test times now and report back.
What may be my culprit from studying this and other forums is I am in Seattle. We are Tmobiles home office corp and full test market for 4g and every change before rest of USA. I get full 4g at all times. In fact my speed tests are off the board. ave of 12 down 1.3 up speeds.
From what I am finding out, those of us in best 4g coverage (and Seattle is listed best) are finding much more drain on battery in standby and in use.
So my theory is that with this phone and its dual proccesor and my 4g, this is why myself and others in like markets are seeing much faster drain then others. Some dispute this possibility. however other experts say its fact.
Will report back findings tomorrow.
Thanks.

May be some of my issue vs. others.
I do have sync on for FB and Google mail 2 accounts. and I use Fancy Widgets for my Weather and news feeds. However I also used these on my HD2 a known battery hog running cm7 and it had even better life then the phone. I run them on my other Galaxy s 4g as well and it has awesome battery life.
But I will freeze these in my next test after running this test.

those are shocking results man... I dont know what to tell you... If I literally dont touch my phone for 6 hours i will drain no more than 10% of my battery, closer to around 6 or 7% based on my battery monitor widget...
I pulled the phone off at 6 this morning and didnt touch it until 12 and I was at 92%... Chelsea got ****ing spanked this morning and I got a barrage of **** talk text messages that I did not want to deal with haha so my phone wen untouched for a good 6 hours...
I will say though, when I first got the phone my battery life was pretty wonky... first drain was great, second one was mediocre, the third and fourth ones were horrible, drained in 6 hours flat of light-moderate use... I did a factory reset at this point to try and change things up... Calibrated once after that and I have run it up and down to get a good read and I have not looked back since, like i said i can get 20-30 hours of moderate to light use no problem at all!
Great battery on my g2x
I had battery problems with my G2x, only lasted about 7-8 hours on moderate use and cell stabd by was like 50% of battery use.
After i installed the leaked official Gingerbread ROM is like a new phone, ofter 16 hours of use i still had 43% last night. In idle mode it uses about 1% in 2 hours.
I think the battery probles come from Froyo not getting along with the dual core processor.
This phone is awesome!

Iceshark, you're not crazy. This is the same exact battery drain I get not even touching the damn phone! This is my second phone in less than 2 weeks, the first had the same results, both brand new.
Today I unplugged my phone at 12:45 pm, gave my mom a call for mothers day (less than 2 min talk time) Got to work and browsed web for maybe 5 minutes then clocked in at 2 pm. Took a 15 min break at 4pm battery was down to 80% (did some web browsing for 5 min). Took my 30 min lunch at 6pm (battery was down to about 60% (did some browsing for about 15 min). Took my last break at 8pm, and battery was down to 30%. I clocked out at 10:30 and I only had 20% battery left. The only timeI touched the phone was on my breaks, the rest of the time my phone was in my pocket. I had juicedefender running on balanced.
It's now 12:01am and I only have 14% battery left, that's not even 12 hours yet, and I only used the phone and it's features for less than an hour, all the other drain was sitting in my pocket. This is unacceptable. And I'm starting to think all the other people who claim to have great battery life are exaggerating or lying through their teeth.
Although I did a test yesterday using auto airplane mode, which automatically enables airplane mode when the screen shuts off, disabling any data, and then it turns data back on when you unlock the screen this helped very much with battery draining and at the end of an 8 hour work shift I still had 70% battery, but without data you can't receive calls, which sucks.
This battery drainage or bleed while the handset is not even being used needs to be fixed. And isn't it false advertising since the G2x specs indicate standby time is 400 hours?

[Q] Battery saving tips

Hi all,
Although I am more than pleased with the Ascend Mate 7 (silver edition) battery life, I was used to try and save as much battery as I could on my Gnex.
Do any of you use any apps or settings on the Mate to stop it's battery from dropping when the screen is off? I've got Greenify installed as well as Amplify, but although apps are hibernating I still get that popup that app X is using battery in the background. I've also got the usual strange wake locks keeping my device from falling asleep (*backup*, framework services...) , but I'm trying not to get too bothered by them because I know nothing about those sort of things to start messing around.
What do you do to keep the battery life to a maximum?

Battery life is fine for me, I like to have speed so no power saving for me, brightness high (auto), everything allowed data etc.
I just dont worry about battery life, a day of heavy use and I still have a bit left so all is well.

It is the modem that is the biggest battery drainer in this device. best battery tips is use wifi if possible...
This will give you a few more extra battery life.. up to 9 hours screen on time.

Hmmmm. So you say: kill mobile data when you are on wifi?
Do you know of an app that does this automatically, switching between wifi when there is a trusted network and using data when there is not?

This is my observation, people who use minimal amount of 3G or 4G data and wifi instead is those who get 9 hours Screen on time.
People who use no wifi and only 3G/4G and maybe 200-400 MB per day are those who get 4.5 hours of screen on time.
This is nothing unique for this device however this modem is for sure not the most power efficient modem out there..
This is also the reason why people get astronomical differences in battery time.
Do you guys use titanium backup? What apps do you freeze?
I've got it installed but lack the knowledge to use it safely. I am interested to know as well, also which system/stock apps to uninstall safely

Had my mate 7 delivered yesterday. After using it till 2% battery I then charged it up for about 4 hours till fully charged. I took it of charge and went to bed. This morning it says 76% how can it use that much power in standby? It did have a notification about Google play services waking up many times. Any fix? Surely this isn't correct for a phone to do.

Hi @vimto25 I don't really know how to shut down the google play services wake ups. I've tried to use System Tuner to limit the wake locks like in this and this thread, but ultimately I found it made things worse on my Mate 7. Have you installed Better Battery Stats to see what is really keeping your phone awake? Then just search around this forum for a solution or post your wake locks in the better battery stats thread!
Could it bee (this is a laymans opinion) that since this was your first time, your email was busy syncing all your mail?
Hopefully someone else really knows how to help you out! At night I always use the ultrabattery powersave option and never lose more than 10%. And if I do, I usually have a strange wake lock myself, like google play services, *backup* or framework.

Hopefully someone else really knows how to help you out! At night I always use the ultrabattery powersave option and never lose more than 10%. And if I do, I usually have a strange wake lock myself, like google play services, *backup* or framework.

I only have 25 emails synced which they synced when I set the phone up earlier that day.
I have looked how frequent it.synced and it said every 15mins which sounds very frequent but all my devices I've had emails syncing around 10 mins.
But I'm guessing it's email that's my problem hence why it said 40% with over 1 hour cpu time. Hmmm I've changed the sync time but I can't see that helping much.
I think I'll do what you have done by enabling power saving mode at night. I currently use normal all the time.
I LOVE this phone just need this small problem sorting.

It would be nice if someone can list some information on how he has set up his phone for battery performance.
Anyway i always use ''smart mode'' of the battery,
i have 5 email accounts in push , always pushing , but my battery on 8 hours a day of screen on and messenger chatting, on mobile data or wifi always on its battery lasts like 1day and 3/4 on !
you can enter the phone manager app and disable the user apps from booting up. just live the ones you need, like whatsap, messenger, google service, gmail, super user or smth else.
Hope it helps !

I'm going to see how it is again tonight. I may restart the phone before bed and see what happens. So far battery isn't very good for me but I can see it has potential so it's how the device is set up the end of the day. Just didn't expect my battery to drain that much and esp using email on standby.

Do not set it manual, just set your E mail in push mode. Not by interval.

After every charge. I lose 10% from a full charge in roughly 2 hours. But I still to manage to to get my phone over a day of use and 6hrs of screen time. WiFi is always on for me.

Battery Drain Fix

Noticing your Galaxy S6 battery is draining too fast? This thread can help.
Part of the problem lies within a memory leak which is a known problem that Samsung is aware of and is reportedly patching in an upcoming update.
The other issue is Samsung attempts to load everything into memory and run several services in the background as well as hard loading the phone with bloatware.
Here is how I gained 30% better battery performance. Guaranteed
*Prerequisites
*Need to be rooted for every tip to work.
1. Disable anything you consider bloatware
2. Go to settings then application manager and disable both ANT radio service apps. You don't need this. Causes massive battery drain. Google it if you don't believe me.
3. Go to the app store and download "Servicely" from Franco. Paid app but worth the money...trust me. (Need root)
4. Once in servicely add running services and apps to your hit list, choose start at boot and run hit list while screen is off.
5. Reboot your phone. Give your phone a full charge and see the difference
Attached is a screenshot of realistic usage. I was on a poor lte signal for 9 hours and conducted several calls and used my phone moderately heavy. As you can see i got through my entire work day and still have 6 hours left at moderately heavy use.
Remember, this is realistic. I could have shown you a screenshot showing 18 hours left after only using it 1 hour. What I'm showing is a legit 9 hours of usage. Before I made these tweaks I would be at 10% battery or less after nine hours of the same usage.
Post your screenshots after 24-48 hours and let's see how much you are saving.

Do you have a VZW Galaxy S6?? or are you using a TMobile one?
Without doing most of what you have on the list:
Didn't load Servicely
Did not turning off ANT which is a low power service used by heart monitors and other physical monitors
Did already disabled the apps I don't use and
did the deal with the google services/play but not much other than that.
I don't play games on my phone, but I do use it for business, calls, lots of messaging and keep WiFi on most of the time except when I am between locations when I turn it off. I only use BT when driving and keep it off normally.
All of which can be done without root, though I have rooted my phone.
YMMV but a lot has to do with what apps you do use, what you actually turn off etc...

Yes I have VZW. Use your phone for a few days and you will start to see battery drain due to the memory leak primarily and your load of apps

I've had my phone for 10 days now. Rooted the first day, loaded my apps and configured that day and sunday so it was work ready on Monday. Ported my number over Monday morning. Pretty much the same for the past 7 days now since then.

I would recommend that you clear your cache in recovery. Based on the ss you posted your standby drain is high. Check the battery thread or pm me if you have questions

Its kind of like who cares?
There are 24 hours in a day and I sleep at least 7 hours of that. The screen shot shows it is 6 in the evening, the phone has been on for just under 11 hours and it still 53% full with an estimated 12 hours left. Even if I am up for say another 5 hours or so, I will still have another 4-5 hours worth of power easily and since I sleep with my phone on a charger every night I won't run out.
On top of that I have AC powered chargers all over the place, in my home office, by my recliner in the living room, in my office at work and even in my truck where I have a two port USB charger with 2A each which is better than some AC chargers. That is in case I really start using battery power for some reason and need to recharge sooner than once a day. All of which was purchased when I had my Note 3.
The costs to get into this phone has been one of the lowest of any phone I have ever purchased since it uses the same chargers, same apps etc. The only thing I bought was a light case as it is slippery without one and I picked up a $12.88 QI charger to use at work.
The phone already gets better battery usage than my previous Note 3 with a larger battery in it.
Stand by drain is high.... s not really relevant.

Very limited SOT with OP6 128gb

Hi,
I am running OOS 5.1.11 with xxxNoLimits and radioactive kernel all freshly installed from scratch (my phone was wiped and oem locked then unlocked again). I still only manage to get 2hrs of SOT which is absolutely awful. Please help me
Attached is the battery usage graph.
Kind regard and thanks for any help.

Using Snapchat with 4G, is location, nfc and bluetooth also turned on?
That would explain the bad battery.
Snapchat is a battery hog, maybe also using some facebook services that you allowed location on and GPS is turned on.
I get around 6h SOT on 4G constant, no facebook permissions and not using snapchat.
Hi,
Thank you for the fast response. I have location turned on because of snapmaps so I will turn that off and limit some of Snapchat's permissions. Is there anything else that someone can suggest please it is crucial for me that my phone lasts all day because eventhough I dedicate quite a lot to Snapchat I also need it for word and Samsung internet for at least 2h each day.
Thank you again
Reduce your time on Snapchat and it'll last longer.
I know Snapchat drains my battery but it's the standby that is killing me and I already have optimised the apps and have Greenify but it seems so far that turning off location has helped quite a bit with general SOT so thank you. Also with Snapchat I only used it for 45mins and I know that it drain a lot but it just goes down too fast in general.

You don't generally need Greenify in Oreo and Pie, since they optimise apps pretty nicely on it's own.
Rather turn on advanced optimizations, look at the permission you gave to different apps (those also include the Gapps, they take too much advantage of all the permissions you give to the each app).
Also do check if you have Wifi scanning always on in the advanced wifi settings, that also lessens a battery by a margin.
Face unlock also reduces the SOT of the phone in my practice.
Some of the advices I saw on the forum, and mainly they work for me.
Also, if Gapps are spending loads of battery go to the recovery and wipe cache, let it rebuild cache with a charge or two and see if there are any results.
Thank you, I have cleared the cache and am letting it rebuild. The SoT now actually seems pretty normal just my phone tends to use 2-3% and hour on standby which doesn't seem normal. Thank you for your help though.
@echo246 Bro,
Move to stock. I am also using 128Gb variant and unlocked, wiped and moved back to stock using mega-unbrick tool. I am on OB3 pie and now I am getting 5 hr SOT + 2 days standby time in pure stock. use the stock battery optimizing features. Don't use any 3rd party app since it need to run in the back ground always to get the result. But then the result will be reverse. Also, don't be too curious and open the phone every 1 minute to check weather the battery is draining or not. Let it sleep. Be patient for one or two full battery circle (100% to 1%) get the result. You will get it. I am also in dual SIM always on 4G, location is in "ON" status. No 3rd party apps using for battery saving. Pure stock is always best and most suitable for every phone. as it made exclusively for that phone
I opened "apps" under settings and went through each and every app + system processes after the end of the first battery circle and which ever process or app used more battery, restricted it's back ground battery usage also all the installed apps too. So now no head ache. getting whats app notification even after optimised it. Not using chrome. using samsung beta browser.
Hi,
Thanks this is great thanks. I need Google pay though I tried what the other suggested and 36mins SoT with 3 hours on standby with a normal brightness without power saving mode on is unheard of for me. Thank you so far but is there anyway to make Snapchat more efficient?

I don't know whether you have replied to me or not. Anyway I assume so and replying.
Sorry I am not a snapchat user. I knew that always Facebook and whatsapp consuming more battery since it is running on background. But if you do anything, you won't get proper notifications. Only way for restricting background service is rooting. So forget all those, let the phone run as it is. OP6 is having a learning system how we use apps and accordingly it will distribute the battery. So let it learn from your usage and it will restrict itself.
(Bro, I was also a SOT + standby hunter like you, but now learned to leave everything to phone itself by controlling unwanted eagerness)
Yeah thanks by limiting the WiFi settings on not to scan and turning off location I have amazing standby now and my SoT without even having power saving on is a lot better now. Most of my problems come from Snapchat anyway but they are rewriting the very old and slow app ATM. Thank you
I have analyzed it and it turns out it is just Snapchat while using it 30 mins of using it and I'm down to 77% and I have used nothing else. Hope that snap Inc get the fix in faster coz they started the rewrite of the android code a year ago so hopefully it is done soon.
Some days I get 15hrs SOT without charging for 3 days. It all depends on how heavily your using the device
I also guess it depends on what apps you use because yesterday I had to do lots of research on my phone (I am a student which is why I need good phone battery and also why I use snapchat so much) and without power saving mode on I used 7% battery an hour (on Samsung Internet). My standby is now amazing because greenify just force closes snapchat now whenever my phone is off and when using snapchat away from home I turn location off (snapmaps) and used every optimisation for it possible. This has fixed that problem really well thank you. Yesterday I used snapchat and Samsung Internet and Excel and YouTube quite a lot and I got 5hrs SoT with only using power saving below 50% and with 14hrs standby. This therefore concludes that snapchat is a killer for every single android phone in existence (verified this on my old S6, my friends S6 edge, a S7 edge, a OP 5 and a Huawei P20 Pro). Thank you for all your help and if someone finds a new way to further improve this, then please also share your trick

I don't have anything special enabled. I just turn data off when I'm not using it, I turn location off when it's not needed. This also includes me playing Clash Royale for at least 3 hours a day sometimes more. When you're using SnapChat and your data you're also using your camera and location. GPS is one of the most battery hogging pieces of hardware on your phone. Right now I'm pushing 6 hours of SOT and I haven't charged my phone in over 24 hours and it's looking like I have 13 more hours left on my battery.
