Spotify and Pear App - Samsung Gear S2

I'll preface the question with the fact that I have the S2 Classic 3G with Verizon. I just recently picked up the device and was less than pleased to find that the only streaming app, Milk has been discontinued. I now see that there is a new update in the works that includes Spotify and the Pear fitness app.
I contacted support and was told that these app require Tizen 2.3.2.1; I have no idea how to tell which version of Tizen is installed, I only see the software version.
Anyone know how to get these apps on the 3G from Verizon? Can I somehow sideload them? I did see you are able to connect the watch to a PC via WiFi...

Milk music

I know milk music isn't available for non Samsung phones, but shouldn't there be a way to install it on the Samsung watch? It seems like the watch is partially crippled by me having a non Samsung device.
Does anyone know of a way?
@paoloroeseke, were you ever able to find an answer to this? I just purchased an S2 and I haven't been able to find anything on this; only how to install Milk Music onto my phone. Thanks!
use a file manager to sideload it. Same thing for any geo-restricted app. If you plan on using those geo-apps regularly, do like me, create a new Google account with some us address, then use a VPN when you want to download restricted apps while switching to that american account. I've been doing that for years and have never had any problem, then only thing you need, at least I did, is a deposit of US funds. I simply bought a 10$ Google Play card from ebay.
@polish_pat,
I actually live in the US, I just do not have a Samsung phone. Milk music is only accesible via the Play/Gear stores on samsungs. I have filesmaster, i just cant seem to locate a Milk Music .wgt file to push over. Would you by chance know of (or have) one I could try?

You will not be able to sideload the app on non samsung devices. MilkMusic is a re-skinned Slacker Radio app. It requires some Samsung frameworks only available on Galaxy devices. This is a deal they have signed with Slacker in order to reduce ads and interruptions for free users and reduce monthly cost for premium users. I know there are some mods that either reskin the slacker app to look like milk or trick the app to emulate a galaxy, but those have been killed by Samsung overtime. Still worth giving it a shot, check out the link below

Thanks a ton for taking the time to respond. Funny enough, I actually found that link yesterday after i had posted, and was in fact able to sideload the samsung account app as well as whatever old version of Milk that is. The problem I'm still having is i'm unable to find/get the milk music .wgt file to send/install to the watch itself :-/

Don't bust your balls with that, I have a Note 5 and have issues with milk on my gear as well, I can't even imagine a non-samsung user. My problem is my location. I'm able to trick the phone to play milk in Canada, but the watch keeps asking to install "com.samsung.mdl.radio.gear.providero" but when it launches galaxy apps it says the app is not available for my device. It seems to be geo-restricted and somehow the watch is able to see through my VPN.
As for your issue, let me try and pull the file from my watch if I find a free filemanager as I don't have any credit card on file with my samsung account.

Using that thread, I was able to install milk music on my moto x pure, AND log into a Samsung account to enable explicit content. Now to just figure out installing the wgt. I think I actually have it saved somewhere.

Thanks a ton for the linkage @paoloroeseke! Installed them both and Milk works great on my device now. The only remaining thing, as you said......is to find that wgt and push it over to the gear s2! thanks a ton!

I have the same issue. I live in Korea and have a Korean S5 and an American Gear 2S. I use a VPN for my Milk Music, but I get an error trying to install the helper. There is actually a different version of Milk Music here simply called Milk. Since I am defaulted to the Korean Gear Apps store anyways, I even tried installing their version of the helper which requires their version of Milk as well. The helper installs fine but when I get to the Milk install it also fails citing that I do not have an official samsung firmware on my phone.......go figure. Anyways, I haven't given up on trying yet, and if you find a fix before me, please let me know. I will do the same for you. I have thought of trying to do a rest on the watch while at home with my router running the VPN/DNS and also not allowing any location until after attemping. But I worry that because my phone defaults to the Korean Galaxy App Store( and I tried many ways around it, bottom line it is a Korean phone) I will be doing it in vain.

Dont bother when I set up my watch I was in the United States for 2 weeks after that. My guess is it's not seeing through the vpn, or location but more the Samsung Account info. Same thing happened when i bought a pair of multiroom speakers a few years back...the multiroom app prevented me to use Pandora within the multiroom app while streaming to all speakers that were paired. What's funny is as soon as I closed the multiroom app and launched the pandora app on its own, it worked, but i had to stream by Bluetooth to one speaker only. Something tells me they use the account info to filter us

I finally got it. I decided to give it a shot and it worked. i threw my wife's SiM card US Sim card in and was able to access the US store and download the helper. Once it is installed you can go back to using Milk with the VPN and all is well with the helper app and using the watch to control it. If you are able to find a US sim card, it doesn't matter the status of the card as long as it is a US sim card.

Samsung Gear Apps [store]

Why can I see paid apps in the store only by using a Samsung phone?
Anybody? And will Samsung change that soon?

Got the same problem, with HTC One M9 + Gear s2...
The reason is, that the Samsung App Store has an own payment method instead of goole play store's method...
At the moment, you cant pay for samsung app on a non-samsung device, so it doesnt listing the paid apps, only the free ones...
BUT: today, i've signed in with my accounnt on a samsung mobile device (galaxy 24 mini), paired my watch, paid some apps, installed it.
when i have paired it back again with my M9, the installed apps disappeared (soft reset when pairing a deivce), and the apps that i paid on a samsung device, still doesnt appears on the M9 store
Just an idea, tried it out, but doesnt work
is there any way, to save the app from the watch (when i bought is, and installed it from a samsung device), and re install it (with the saved installer) from the non-samsung device?

I imagine there are technical problems for Samsung to make paid apps open to all, but it can't be an insurmountable problem, and it would be good for consumers and developers if they opened the paid apps to non-Samsung phones. Samsung is a giant corporation and so not particularly easy to contact or persuade, but I wonder if developers started a petition that might help persuade Samsung to fix this situation.
I've got a oneplus one - just wondering if they're are any worthwhile paid apps that I'm missing out on?

It mainly depends on what you want to do with your watch. I bought the app My Notes in Gear. It let's you create notes and task lists on your phone and sync these with your watch. I am also using komoot which is a free app but didn't show in the Gear store with a non Samsung phone. For me it was reason enough to switch the phone...
I am not hundred percent sure. I was having the same issue (not a big deal as I also had a Samsung phone, so I switched). When utilizing a Samsung phone, there are way more free applications and the paid applications are accessible too. Also, I believe the store has a slightly different layout.
I read somewhere that said someone contacted Samsung. They replied saying that they were working on a fix, but the reason was that they weren't able to accept payments (or some other payment issue) on non-Samsung devices.
I am sure it will be fixed soon. Hold tight!
If I connect my gear s2 to a Samsung phone to get access to paid apps and watchfaces and download them to the watch will they still be there when I switch back to my non Samsung phone?
I'm mainly talking about watch faces at this time. It seems like all the good digital ones are hidden to me now.
And maybe ultimately a good thing, but with the most recent Gear app update (for your phone), the layout of the app changed, and I noticed a recommended app at the bottom that wouldn't install. I suspect this app (can't recall which one) was an app that Samsung phone users can install, and the rest of us can't. My theory is this was either an outright error, or may portend non-Samsung phone users eventually getting access to at least more apps, if not paid apps.

no, i've tried this solution.
if you pairing the watch to other device, every time you need to soft reset is (than the installed apps is gone). :crying:

Unavalible applications in Samsung Gear Apps store

Hi all,
I hope some one can advise in my question:
I can't find some applications in Samsung Gear Apps store, i 100% shure that such applications exist and available for gear s2 (for example Sleep As Android addon)
I suppose it's some restrictions for smartphone type - i use Meizu pro 5, while guys with samsung smartphones easelly can find and install it.
Maybe there is some way to make GEar app think that it installed on samsung device ?
Paid apps are not available yet in the Samsung Store for Gear S2 paired with a non-samsung smartphone. There are many threads complaining about it.

Sleep as Android addon is free app.
Paid apps are available for users of non-Samsung phones, as of several months ago (although I guess maybe some countries aren't up to date with this?).
The problem with certain apps not showing up for some people (I still can't download the Uber app, for example) seems to be that when uploading their apps to the store, developers need to activate the listing for every possible combination of phone and wearable - and some combinations, for unexplained reasons, end up being disabled. The developer of Wearable Widgets talks about this in a G+ post here: https://plus.google.com/+SterlingUdell/posts/RbswZqw8KQ5.
It might be worth contacting the developer and letting them know your specific phone and wearable, and asking them to check if they've enabled the app for that combination. If they're unable to because it's disabled by Samsung, we need to wait for Samsung to fix this ridiculous system....
I don't find the snoopy watchface with s7 edge

Where to find all apps?

Hi everyone,
I just changed my phone (which is not anymore a Samsung) but I kept my Gear S2. Unfortunately, I realized I have no more the same full access to the Samsung gear store. I used to run with Pear Sports and I can't find anymore the app for the gear ( I found for my phone only). Pear Sport explain this is because the exclusive partnership they have with Samsung.
I desperately looking for this since few days already but can't find. So, my question is, where can I find another way to sideload all apps and install this Pear Sport on my watch again?
Thanks for your help!

Use NFC chip of a Samsung smartphone for Google Pay

Hi folks!
I'm an owner of a Samsung Gear S3 smartwatch which runs on Samsungs's Tizen 4.0 system. I already know there is no Google Pay app available for Tizen and unfortunately Samsung Pay isn't available for the S3 in Germany. Currently I'm already using Google Pay on my Pixel phone. Since the S3 has a NFC chip and is linked to my smartphone via bluetooth I'm wondering why the Google pay app on my phone can not simply use the functionality of the NFC of my watch. Is there really no way to link the Google Pay app to the NFC chip of the watch instead to the phones one?? To be clear, I'm not asking for a Tizen app, a standalone solution or WearOS ROM... I just want to put my watch on the terminal instead of pulling out my phone. Any ideas, hint or solutions??
Thanks in advance!
