Verizon Samsung S6 issues on Cricket - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6

Hello, this is my first post on xda. I recently purchased this s6, and have had service through Cricket for about a month. I can't send sms messages, so I have tried changing the apn, but to no avail. I called cricket and they told me Verizon phones can be problematic on their network. Not to mention the service is shotty even while in 4G coverage. I tried to root, but only achieved flashing the tar file, but got a nand write start fail. And surpringly it started running better after the flash. Is there a way to root android 6.0.1 easily and would that help? I am tempted to just take my Sprint Note 3 back up to Sprint, I just don't wanna pay 100 bucks a month. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. P.S. the phone is running slower that'll my Note 3 in almost every facet. And the longer it is on, it seems the slower it gets. Reboot helps.

[Q] How do I add APNs on Verizon Galaxy S3 running 4.1.1?

I have a Verizon Galaxy S3 (SCH-I535) running Android 4.1.1. I was told by Verizon prior to moving to England that, with this version of Android which unlocked the "world phone" capabilities (GSM), that I would be able to use my phone abroad with a new sim on a local network.
Fast forward a few weeks, and I am in England with an Orange sim in my phone. I have no problems with voice, but I cannot access any data services (I have no trouble receiving texts, but cannot send them - I think this is a problem with the sim though). After searching around the internet for a while, it seems that the solution to my problem would be to add the Orange APN settings to my phone.
HOWEVER, Verizon's version of 4.1.1 does not allow you to edit APN settings! When you go to the APN menu, there is nothing displayed and the only settings option is to Reset to Default.
The closest thing I've found to a solution is here, but it's a bit out of date as the method isn't for 4.1.1. I'm a bit wary of rooting my phone and installing a rom, as I've never done anything like that before.
Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing that might be able to offer a solution? I would be willing to root my phone if necessary, but I'd need to be directed to a pretty explicit noob guide for doing that :silly:

Getting root is easy with the toolkit linked. Should you have any questions you can read the thread or search galaxy s3 toolkit on YouTube. Just keep in mind some videos are outdated and that you have a Verizon cdma galaxy S3 running 4.1.1.

Search this same thread and the APN fixes are here. There is also an APN fix in Note 2 forum that should work. Once you change APN should be good to go with Orange. Say hi to my Uncle in Birmingham. He on Orange also. Cheers. :laugh:
What ended up being your solution?
I'm going to Italy tomorrow with a Verizon S3 and APN settings are locked. The phone is rooted and I would love to be able to use a local SIM on data!

No solution yet. I'm going to look at the link above when I can get some time to sit down and focus on it. Hopefully it fixes it.
BTW, although it's billed as a CDMA phone, it is able to operate on GSM as well. That's the whole "world phone" thing that Verizon has been talking about.

I understand it's a world phone, but I wanted to drop that in because I wasn't sure if the Toolkit states "CDMA" under the device selection screen. I know the Galaxy Nexus or Razr Toolkit specifically stated CDMA. I just didn't want you to accidentally pick the wrong one. After looking at screen shots of the Toolkit you shouldn't have a problem it doesn't mention CDMA only Verizon is stated.

Sorry for going there, but I have not been able to find a fix for adding in the APN on a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III. I have it on Cincinnati Bell at the moment, and have it rooted. I have voice and text, but not data. I have used the APN Manager Pro to see the APN that I need to use, but for some reason it will not use it or be able to edit it? Any thoughts?

Yes.
Get titanium backup pro and make apn mgr pro a system app.
You should be good after that.
This is confirmed working on Vodafone Italy and ill post results from China and hk in about a month

I have a very similar problem. I have a Samsung S3, not rooted, but unlocked from Verizon. I have been in Kandahar for a month or so. My SGS3 with a local provider will make and receive calls great when coverage is there. My problem is, I can only seem to text local here not back to the US, or get email and no Google Talk. I went to the shop where I got my card here, they told me that Verizon needed to unlock my phone. I know it is unlocked but I made the call home, Verizon told me what I already knew. I went back into the store, once again, next they said Verizon needed to unlock my APN? I called again, finally I got a response from Verizon saying that Samsung needs to release the patch so Verizon can unlock it. If anyone knows of such a APN patch I would greatly appreciate it. My lap top screen got cracked during a patrol so doing all of this and email is quite the B!tch! I have always had success with this forum and hope it will continue. Once I send my lap top back home to be warrantied, I will not have any way of getting the usual business done for at least a month. I'm trying to hold off on the lap top until I can get my phone fully functional. I do not have internet connection on my phone, just my computer, I guess that is the APN, that is still locked. I could do all of this if I had WiFi, but it is not allowed here by the company that provides internet. They do have WiFi in some areas, but it is always bogged down with everyone else trying to use it. Also, I am not too sure if I want to attempt to do a root, the internet service here is very slow. Thanks for your help. Please remember, I am atleast 8 1/2 hours ahead of you, so response time will be delayed.

I don't post much, normally a lurker. Recently, my father in law bought a Sprint Galaxy S5, which came unlocked... but he's unable to use 4G data on the cellphone. Any data network, for that matter. The phone is rooted and I've added multiple times the APN same as I have it on my S5 active AT&T and no luck. For the record, we're using Telcel, a Mexico (awful) provider.
Anyone has had any luck on this? Tried the proxy removal thing, didn't work... Any pointers at all so I could try would be great. I think we would be able to re-sell the phone and get an AT&T active one, but... I kind of got into the challenge on trying to get this one to work.

T-Mobile Network on G920V Marshmallow?

I realized I posted in the wrong section so I moved here, but I'm not sure how to delete my old post in the General section
Hey guys, so I recently found myself the owner of a Verizon S6 that my dad found on the bus when he was out near Delaware. I thought it would be an awesome addition and that I'd be able to use it on T-Mobile, I've done it before, why not on the S6? Well, for some reason unlike the Verizon S3 and S5 I've used with my T-Mobile Sim, the S6 has been very stubborn. I've tried researching online but have found mixed answers. From what I've read since the posts were kind've old, the S6 could easily be switched to T-Mobile when it was on Lollipop with a simple tweak of the APN settings. Since the marshmallow update was pretty recent, I've tried time and time again with all of T-Mobile's APN's and I simply cannot get it to work. Does anyone have any insight on this? Is it simply because its on 6.0.1?
Some info on what happens:
When I insert the SIM and power on, it simply says "This is not a Verizon Sim" with no service whatsoever and "Emergency Calls Only"
Any changing of the APN has no effect, switching between LTE/CDMA, LTE/GSM/UTMS, and GLOBAL does nothing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance!
Did you ever get this to work? I just got a S6 and am using it on Tmobile fine right now on 5.1.1 but wanted to update to marshmallow. However I'm afraid something will stop working

Not registered on Network...?

I gotta problem lol. I haven't used this phone in over a month because I destroyed my LCD. So when the new one came I put it on and the phone was okay... Well until it kept saying about me not being registered. I mean I looked everywhere and my phone is unlocked and I'm using TMobile. But it only gives me the voicemail notification and that's all. My signal been going in and out. and I just flashed a new rom (s8/s8+ port). I don't really know where else to go from here. I can't call or use my data or anything. 3days out from going back to school and still don't have it fixed... I need a second opinion before I will decide to go back to a stock rom then get root back.
Could be just something minor or...
I've got TMobile... (Well mint sim) they said that my sim card is purged and that they needed to update the Sim card or they'll send out another if nessacary. Hope they'll fix the problem.
Min and Prl is Null..
I'm guessing it's no longer the Sim card that's causing the problem. I still need help
Hey guys sorry for posting here but I was wondering if it's possible to use a sprint note 5 on Verizon? I'm thinking about getting the note 5 but I want to be able to unlock the bootloader and root. Only issue is I have Verizon. Any suggestions on which version of the note 5 I should get?

Did you ever get an answer for this issue? I have a rooted Sprint Note 5 and switched recently to Verizon. Everything works right except my signal says roaming perpetually. That said, I am getting a data signal but I don't think it's up to snuff as far as 4g LTE. The way we got it going was the rep activated a SIM card with another phone before dropping it in mine. I had no data for a while but eventually got it to use data over mobile just, as I said, not full capacity mbps of LTE. I'm hoping to fix the signal saying roaming so I know if I have a 3g, 4g, LTE or whatever rather than just "R" and never being sure if I can access data over mobile with it being hit or miss. Any thoughts?

Galaxy S10+ G975U - LTE drops

I recently purchased an open box Galaxy S10+ G975U. Phone was in excellent condition. Was told it was an unlocked phone from Verizon. Upon receiving it, it had ATT Splash Screen and Apps. Was trying to get it working on Page Plus, and MVNO of Verizon. After much effort between seller and Page Plus, we finally got just about everything right.
We switched it back to Verizon Splash and Apps. We got everything working or so we thought finally with some APN changes. However, after using it a day or two, I noticed that during a phone call, LTE would always drop to 1X, thus making MMS and Data usage unavailable. Page Plus Customer Service is not good, some are better than others, but I cannot seem to get the issue resolved.
I recently got rid of the Verizon from CSC just to see if it would help and switched to XAA/XAA/VZW. Thinking it would help and it has not. My Galaxy S8 that still works with the same Sim Card with LTE that works correctly as well during calls, has a CSC with TFN/TFN/XAA.
I do not have the ability to switch to Tracfone (TFN/TFN/XAA) but don't really think that is the issue as Page Plus uses VZW devices.
Does anyone have suggestions or an answer as to what could be the issue? I have collectively spent at least three full days of my life between customer support and reading through all the forums and posts.
