[Completed] Help! Seriously messed up ROM mod on Galaxy Tab 10.1 - XDA Assist

So I got this free Galaxy Tab 10.1, and tried adding a Custom ROM to help it run better, and be able to run some apps that the old android 3 os couldn't run. As of now, it has CWM v6.0.3.6 installed, as well as a KitKat ROM. This ROM seems to have been corrupted, and now the keyboard constantly stops working (receiving constant pop ups about it) and it no longer will connect to my PC via USB, although it still charges when it is plugged in.
I made a mistake when I was installing this ROM, and my backup stock ROM was never loaded onto the tablet.
My original thought was to use the install from sideload option to get a different ROM onto it, but it doesn't detect even in Recovery mode.
Odin does detect the device, so is there a way to use this utility to fix this problem? Or maybe some other option that I'm not thinking of?
Thanks for the help

Greetings and welcome o assist. If odin detects your device then kies emergency firmware recovery should work, that will return your tablet to its original state. The other option is to flash a different rom through recovery, just download it to your sd card and then flash it
Good Luck

I booted the device into download mode, where it is detected by Odin. Kies can tell that something is connected, but it just continuously tries to connect. The device does not have an sd card slot, so there is no way for me to add a different rom to it.
EDIT: Kies does not detect anything being connected at all if the device is booted normally.

Additional update:
By using the calculator app to copy paste numbers, I've gotten the device connected to my phone's hotspot, along with my laptop. Perhaps there is some way to force a file download over wifi? The device shows up in my network places on my laptop, but the folder is empty.

If you start kies and select emergency firmware recovery it will ask you to put your phone in download mode and connect it. Does kies recognise it then?

Problem resolved, I was able to locate a Samsung release 4.0.4 for my device in .md5 format and flashed it with Odin. Thanks for the help.

[Q] PC Does Not Recognize Device and Another Dumb Thing I Did

I did a really, really dumb thing a few months ago. I flashed a wrong something or another to fix an issue I had with my keyboard crashing after flashing another wrong thing..
Anywho, I couldn't get the damn keyboard to stop crashing for the life of me, so I set out to FORMAT/ CLEAR EVERYTHING ON MY PHONE. Yikes.
At this point, I can boot into recovery(CWM) and DL mode, but my PC will not recognize my phone at all. I installed your S3 toolkit v7.0, hoping it would help, but nay.
I cannot boot fully into Android to allow usb debugging, etc.
I can mount and unmount internal sd, cache, etc, but no drivers are being installed because it is not being recognized.
I've uninstalled Kies, etc.

I'm waiting on my PC to free up again(currently on a Mac). I had not tried Odin because in the past I was unable to mount internal SD, which I understood was keeping it from being recognized. I instead thought the Toolkit would do the trick automatically, though I most likely had the wrong idea. Everything is mountable again (for some odd reason), so I will give it a go.
Could I accomplish downloading drivers and flashing rom to device using Odin alone? Or should I use the Toolkit?
Thanks!

Installing the drivers is independent from using odin. Install the drivers on the PC, fire up odin, connect phone (that has been booted into DL mode) and see if it connects. If it does, just flash a stock image and you are back in business.
You can use this driver http://d-h.st/vMk

Odin is not recognizing the device. Should I unmount or mount anything on the device for this to work properly? I have drivers installed.

[q] is there any hope left for my tab?

problem began after i factory reset the tab, my tab keeps rebooting everytime either when i connecting to a wifi network/turning off the wifi/going to settings. then it freezes, and shows the samsung logo indefinitely.
when i force reboot it no longer goes into the system but only to samsung logo. i had to factory reset everytime to get into welcome screen.
the tab also have a usb connection issue as it wont get detected by the pc
odin pro is available but kinda useless since it still have to download specific files the tab for it to work
my tab is currently running on 4.1.2 P6800DXMD3 with skyhigh 3.9.1 kernel.no custom recovery
hope my english is good enough
anybody here can help me?
1. Try wipe cache in recovery and flash stock kernel.
2. Try flash full official firmware package with Odin PC. You may need to factory reset again in recovery before first boot.
Best of luck

You didn't say (and haven't said) it wouldn't connect in Download Mode. I didn't assume.....
- Make sure you have both the latest Samsung USB and ADB drivers installed. Uninstall old ones, reboot, install new and reboot.
- Have you checked your USB cable is ok?
If you can't enter download mode, you could be hurting.
- If all you can do is enter stock recovery, and if you had USB debugging enabled, maybe it's possible to push to system and preload etc. with ADB.

im gonna assume usb debugging is disabled since i factory reset the tab. so the setting must have been reset as well? but then i cant to to settings then the tab would freeze.

thanks for suggestion but i already resolve the prob :victory:
mobile odin still havent download the specific files for the tab so most of its features doesnt work. it doesnt even read files for sd card (not sure why)
but luckily i was able to flash custom recovery (twrp recovery) through it. so i had to push the files in via bluetooth from my phone.
well once in recovery just do all the usual stuff to flash the rom. using pac man right now. really wanted to use stock but i scared the bug would come again.
mobile odin literally saved my tab

N8010 Problems

Hi,
Figured id start off by explaining the history on my Samsung Note N8010
A while back i installed Hyperdrive Rom RS8 (i think), no problems, flawless. However it did change my device id to an N8013, not sure why.
Recently i wanted to use SkyGo Tablet app, however root cloak and Voodoo does not cloak SkyGo Tablet app on this specific rom so i figured id revert back to the original 4.1.2 stock.
I used Mobile Odin, grabbed the zip/tar from the Sam-mobile and hit go.
On reboot, it would not load in, stuck on the Samsung Note 10.1 splash. I do have access to download mode and recovery mode, but it's labelled Android System Reocvery <3e>.
It is worth noting that USB debug did not work on Hyperdrive, so currently no matter what computer i connect this tablet to Odin, Kies or anything will not see it.
When trying to "apply update from sd card" i get E:\ mount problems, it pretty much fails every time.
Any suggestions?

The original issue is probably one of two things. If you downloaded the rom directly to your device its Likely a bad download. DID YOU CHECK MD5 Before flashing. There are also limitations to Mobile odin.
What i would suggest is to uninstall Kies . Make sure you have no other android devices installed on your computer .Download the older version again from Samsung website. Install on your computer. Download odin again i think you want the one a version back as well NOT Latest.
Reboot into download mode. Run odin. if it still does not see your device check Device manager and see if its showing up with a yellow mark. Look for a post i made last week explaining how to correct usb driver for windows.. Download mode should work with out usb debug on if i remember correctly..

Hi, cheers for the response,
I have tried all of what you have said but unfortunately no PC will see my device, not even an "unrecognized device". I have access to android system reocvery <e3> and Download mode (Odin) but the pc just won't recognized, tried new leads and so forth, nothing.

[Q] Restore stock firmware via SD card

I have a Samsung Galaxy S 4G (SGH-T959V) with kernel 2.6.35.7-T959VUVKJ6-CL694130. I took this phone to a place to get it unlocked, but now it does not recognize any SIM card nor can I connect it to my pc or laptop via USB. I have been looking all over for ways to restore the firmware, but I can only find ways that require download mode and a fully functional USB connection. I downloaded and installed the Samsung USB drivers, but I can only get the message that the phone is malfunctioning and remains undetected to Odin and Heimdall.
I am not able to find a reference on how to flash my phone from the SD card and I am not sure which files I need to put onto the SD card to even attempt it. Could someone please help and include links to stock firmware files?

Well, it sounds as if you have two separate issues.
1) No SIM cards are recognized. Do you know if you have an IMEI number still? You can find it by either typing in *#06# in the dialer or by going to Settings, About Phone, and Status. If you have a string of numbers, then you're probably good. If its all 0's or *'s, then your efs partition is probably messed up. In which case things get complicated (especially if you don't have a backup of the efs partition) and just restoring the stock firmware probably won't help.
2) You cannot get your PC to recognize the phone. I assume this means that you cannot transfer any files to it either (ie Mass Storage Device does not work) as well as Odin/Heimdall not recognizing it. I'm assuming you can get into Download Mode?
The first things to try would be a different USB port and/or cable and/or PC. Is there anything showing up in Device Manager? Another thing to try would be to download a LiveCD of a Linux distribution such as Ubuntu or Linux Mint. If it gets recognized there (type in the command "lsusb" at a command line/terminal) then its a problem with the Windows drivers. Don't try this right away unless you have a good internet connection as its a fairly hefty download.
In order to get back to stock from the SD card and without download mode, you will need a custom recovery. While you gave your kernel version, a little more info would be helpful. Are you currently on the stock rom? If yes, do you have a custom recovery or custom kernel installed and are you rooted? If not, which ROM are you using?
Welcome to the forums!
Thanks for the reply. I know this will probably scar me for life, but I just figured out I was putting the SIM card in wrong. Now the USB works great.

Tab 2 not recognized by PC

I installed some cyanogen rom on my tablet and now everytime I try to plug it into my laptop or PC It says USB not recognized device descriptor request failed. I tried with 3 different cables and 3 different computers. I have samsung drivers installed. I just need to get it to connect so I can restore my tablet to stock ROM. I was trying it on my own with mobile odi n(app) and tried to flash it but it went into a loop and deleted recovery. Now the tablet does power on and works - apps crash all the time and no root available. So basically its useless and I do now know what do to... Please, someone just help me out here >.< :crying:

Yes I tried to enable debugging still did not work... I can not flash it because it doesn't get recognized by any computer.
If you manage to get root, then you can use FlashFire from play store to flash the stock rom.

Basically, because what you get is a CyanogenMod, which does not relate to any piece of the Samsung Driver. All you need is Google USB Driver which supports almost all Android phones in the world. A thread in XDA talks about 15 seconds Google USB Driver Program for Windows which can be found somewhere in the XDA thread world.
And more here, for the problem about root access, have you tried installing a SuperSu flashable zip through your recovery yet? That should work a lot. Then, if you update your firmware using recovery without using an OTA update manually, apps may not be compatible and will crash. Reinstalling all your crashing apps from the Google Play Store should help.
Finally, if you want to update your phone through recovery, not an OTA-received ROM, please make sure not to install many apps on it, because when it crashes, you can do nothing but to reinstall it. although, all add-ons (Such as GApps, SuperSu, Xposed Framework, et cetera) need to be reinstalled so you don't lose them during a manual update, so don't delete your flashable add-on zips once you installed, you might need them forever.
Recovery is like a mobile version of Odin, use a Desktop version of Odin so you can get yourself out. A tutorial might be found somewhere on YouTube.
Hope you have a good day,
Shippo

There is a tool called Forget Windows Use Linux in which all necessary drivers come preinstalled and your tab should be recognised from your pc with no problem if it's a driver issue. Try it
Try this slide down from upper left of the screen. If the window indicates charge only, click on it. It should then offer file transfer. In order to get adb to see the tablet turn on deveper options and enable USB debug mode. Hopefully that works for you.
hello
there is something very very very very very old which is called cf autoroot
every needed is in the zip use it
