Fresh Install and SD Card issues - Shield Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I like to flash new roms every once in a while. I always keep the SD card as external storage and not adoptive, but everytime I flash a new rom the OS requires a format saying "Invalid Format". If I flash to the backup of the previous rom, the SD card reads fine. Is there some special formatting that needs to be done so that I won't have to format the SD card between fresh flashes?

Do you encrypt the SD card? What format has the SD card (FAT32, NTFS, UFS)?

help Backing up Sd to a bigger sd card

I did all the steps to move apps, cache, data to my sd card for the G1 phone and everything is working good but I want to backup everything on a bigger sd card and I also noticed that even if I use a new partitioned fat32 and ext2 sd card it wont boot, can any one tell me how to backup all my sd card please thank you
Hi,
When I upgraded to a bigger card, I did this:
1-copy current sdcard to computer.
2-backup your apps with astro
3-delete all caches on phone.
4-move apps and caches back to phone.
5-format new sdcard with a ext2 partition.
6-copy sdcard data from computer to new sdcard.
7-transfer apps and caches back to sdcard.
8-reinstall all apps with astro.
You should be good to go.

Can't use external SD Card G2X MIUI

I just did a fresh install of MIUI and got themes working, but i can't get the external sd card working. I am reading you have to partition it to ext3, but if i try partitioning in Rom Manager it partitions the internal card. Any help?

Can't Install Healthy .ZIP file from SD Card

Long Version:
----------------------------------
Hello. I was preparing for a full wipe of my phone (Galaxy S3 i9300) for a clean flash for my next ROM. So I did was I got a SD Card Reader and plugged my SD Card in and put it in a laptop to copy the files, while suddenly, my SD Card got corrupted. I tried to format the SD Card with the same SD Card Reader (not knowing the Card Reader was faulty) but it made things worse. So, I took a different Card Reader, and formatted the SD Card and now all seems well. Until, when I put the .ZIP file in the SD Card, put the SD Card on my phone, and install .ZIP from SD Card on my phone using TWRP (2.8.6.1), it displays the error "E: Zip file is corrupt!" So naturally, I restarted the phone into recovery, formatted the SD Card using TWRP, changed the file system to FAT (vfat) and it displays the error "E: Unknown MTP message type: 1", then I tried repairing the file system, and it was successful. So I did was put the .ZIP in the SD Card again and try it again, with no luck.
I have already used all of these to format the SD Card and the phone still thinks the .ZIP file from the SD Card is corrupted:
Diskpart
Chkdsk
EaseUs Master Partition
Windows Format
SD Formatter (v4.0)
---------------------------------------
TL;DR
Phone got fully wiped, SD Card got corrupted while transfering files because of faulty Card Reader, SD Card got formatted a lot of times, Finally got the SD Card running, but now, if I put it inside the phone, it thinks the .ZIP File from the SD Card is corrupted.
What should I do?
p.s. (I already downloaded the same .ZIP file multiple times to make sure it was healthy, and it is)

Yes, the .zip file does work. I can open it on my pc
Sadly, I can't get a new SD Card. Mainly because I need this SD Card because it is a 32GB SDHC Class 10 SanDisk SD Card, and it's not cheap to get a new replacement (of the same SD Card).
I would like to know how to fix this corrupted SD Card. Because everytime I plug it into my PC (and use Windows Check Drive for Errors, and Chkdsk) and find there's no errors. And then when I finished placing the files into the SD Card, when I plug it the next time, everything got corrupted, but Windows still does not detect any errors on the drive..... wut

Copy paste via USB cable? The ZIP might be corrupted in a way that the script is broken or somehing. Try copypasting the file via USB and if that doesn't work download a different ZIP.

Formatting SD Card as Internal Storage

I've flashed my tablet (SM-T800) according to the thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...android-6-marshmallow-tab-s-10-5-lte-t3219759
One of the instructions mentions coping SuperSU and GApps to the SD Card afterwards so they can be reflashed after an update. Does this mean I can't format the SD card as internal storage?
You can. But you still can copy files to SD card AFAIK.

Unsupported SD card

I had been using my SD card as internal storage for sometime and then one day I factory restored my phone and now it won't read the SD card. I tried formatting the SD card and integrating it with the internal storage again but that didn't work and my SD card is now unsupported even to be used as external storage.
Please help me fix this issue.

If you have a microsd to regular SD card adapter, plug it into your computer, and re-format as exfat, or NTFS, try both. If you don't have one, pick one up at Walmart, Walgreens or cvs
